The New Twelfth Division [Private]

"Kuh…"
The words left the mouth of the male, in addition to a patch of smoke. In his right hand he gripped what looked to be a sword, once wielded by the samurai long ago. His figure was lean, betraying the amazing strength that he held within. His facial features were small, almost boyish, but truly relaxed. Out of his mouth, a small cigarette hung, releasing a trail of smoke from it. His right arm that he had lost to the hollow's surprise attack was now only a stump. As he lifted up the stump that once was his arm and stared at it, something began to change. The flesh began to warp and shift, as suddenly it flowed outwards like water, flesh rippling out of his arm as his hand reformed, gripping it to ensure that it worked properly.
"Pointless… utterly pointless." He stated, as he looked back with one eye at the hollow behind him. The hollow blinked, not knowing what had occurred when Kyu performed Shunpo, beginning to turn to face him as his body split and its blood flowed out around the cut that had happened through its body. "…" He stopped as his right hand pointed at the hollow's mask that was now facing him, his finger reconfiguring as a hole appeared in it. Then, without warning a bullet shot from his finger followed by the loud sound of a BANG, slamming into the hollow's mask as his entire head was frozen solid, extending all the way down to its torso and making it impossible for it to move.
His body moved immediately afterwards, his right leg coming forwards as it SLAMMED into the side of the hollow's mask, suddenly exploding as it cracked into hundreds of thousands of people, pushing straight through it as ice shards went flying from his leg, his movements deft and calculated. Slashes were in his leg from the bottom of the foot to his knee, as a result of hitting the solid ice. After a few moments, the flesh seemed to emerge out of the wounds, and his legs looked as good as new. "Yo." He said, his hand with the blade against the side of his head, a cellphone in his hand as he stopped moving completely, the smoke from his cigarette rising slowly as he listened.
"I'll be right there."
* * *
The door to the Captain's quarters SLAMMED into the other side of the wall, and the only thing visible from the door way was a dress shoe, black in color and made of what looked like leather. The foot slowly lowered, and in walked what some would describe as a gentleman, some would describe as a businessman, and others would describe as an American dog.
He really didn't care for any of the descriptions.
"I brought wine." Was all he said as he strolled in, completely relaxed even in the office of the Captain. "I also brought that corpse… Left it outside though, thing was starting to smell." He explained to her, knowing that she liked having new things to experiment on. He had been called back to drop the thing off at the lab, but he decided to give her a visit on the way back. "How've you been?" He asked her, pouring two glasses of wine as he spoke, before handing one to the woman.

The day was far from being her favorite. She would have liked to be in the lab, starting her research on the familiar project, but no... there was paperwork. There was always paperwork. She didn't really hated it doing the paperwork but it wasn't her favorite of activities. Nevertheless, she made sure to never complain in front of anyone as her dedication to her duties was one of the reasons she was so greatly acclaimed and complimented by her man and the other Captains. Kyu was out getting a corpse needed for one of the experiments but he was taking longer than she expected. She knew the target should be a cinch for her Vice Captain to worry about and thus it was not his safety that worried him. He had a tendency to smoke. She wasn't quite fond of that habit of his, but she did not restrict it as he seemed to enjoy doing it. The problem was, he was likely out having fun without her. With a frown and her arms crossed she felt her heart beat just a bit faster, and shaking away the thoughts she centered herself in her position as Captain and reminded herself of her duties instead of her concern and need for fun or her Vice Captain. Nevertheless, he was due to arrive, so calling him, did not seem like an awful idea.
"Seriously, where are you?" she spoke into the phone. "I need you here right now," she continued. She had paused for a couple of seconds to reflect on what she had said and how that might have been interpreted. However, likely assuming that the pause meant an end to her conversation, Kyu had spoken and hung up. She should have called back. She should have. But doing so would have demonstrated she was concern and aware of the potential double meaning of her words. Plus, there was a chance Kyu wouldn't catch up to it. He was an extremely bright man and likely the most vital member of her squad, but sometimes she hoped he would miss one or two things to allow her to get away with more. After rushing through her paperwork, though paying close attention she had made a good job she kicked back her head and with eyes closed lost herself in her thoughts. The last thing she needed was to still be working when Kyu returned and seemed like she was doing less work than he was.
It was difficult to remember how long she had stayed still. It was not long enough for her to fall asleep though she would never do that either way. She was a good Captain. The sudden peace of mind was abruptly halted by the door to her office being slammed with a rather strong amount of force. Jumping into her feet she looked towards the other in near disbelief someone would do that but half knowing the one person likely responsible. Rushing towards him she closed the door behind him and with a slow push shoved him to the wall as a hand would go over his mouth. It wasn't forceful really, it was just probably unexpected. But truly...he had it coming. "Seriously what are you doing its mid-day," she said in a tone of voice that made it difficult to discern if she was speaking normally or whispering. Had it been anyone else, the individual would have regretted the day the barged into her office in such a way. Kyu... it was a bit different. Its not that he had special privileges. In fact, had anyone been nearby or seen his behavior she would have been forced to reprehend him for his actions to not seem one sided. Nevertheless, her vice captain was close to her enough where his behavior was almost expected and welcomed. Heck, in any other occasion she would not have batted an eyelash at his entrance but she was in her righteous duty mood, at least momentarily, and did not want to seem like she was extremely easy on her men.
Exhaling, she let her forehead rest against his chest momentarily as her eyes pierced down onto the floor for seemingly no reason. It was no secret that Crystal and Kyu were close, even to the rest of the Captains, but it was not a problem at all. In fact, one of the original Captains, Captain Shunsui was known for his varied and acquired taste in women. Though Crystal would never admit to having such thing as a taste in man or a taste in anything to be specific, she knew she was fond of Kyu and his company. Looking at his arms and knowing him, it was hard to tell if he had been injured, but he at least looked to be alright. Taking a hold of the wine bottle she jugged down some, not fearing too much since the windows and the doors had been closed. No one would dare barge in since Kyu was already inside, and in the rare chance someone knocked she'd just hide it. "I already talked to someone so that they will move the body towards the lab. Thanks for the wine by the way," she said as she passed him the wine bottle from which she had drank without cleaning the mouth of the bottle. Crystal was a very clean person. She had given him the bottle without swiping the head of the latter just because she had forgotten. As soon as she did she wished she had as if he drank from it like that it would kind of be considered a kiss. It was comical really. In the situations that really mattered, like at the lab or at the battlefield, her intellect was a force to be reckoned with, but when faced with more trivial situations, or Kyu for that matter, he seemed to have the effect of skewing with her senses. In a way, she didn't mind it. Instead, she liked it.

Her reaction wasn't exactly unexpected, even as he was pushed back, narrowing his eyes bluntly as she covered a hand over his mouth. She would feel the outline of his mouth changing as his mouth reconfigured to be a few centimeters away from her hand, which would allow for it to speak freely unless she dug her fingers in there. "Opening a door that was in the way. Funny how a sliding door can swing on hinges though, wouldn't you agree, Captain?" He asked, tilting his head at her. Beneath her hand, he kept a small smile. The door had developed hinges indeed, solid metal hinges that had been produced by the nanobots which flowed throughout his body, showing that he had indeed thought before kicking the door open.
"And when my arm hurts from nearly getting chopped off, of course I'll not use it to open a door with it." He shrugged back at her, most likely hoping she would have removed her hand by now to return his face back to normal. "…" He was silent as she moved away from him to take onto the wine bottle, jugging it down, before thanking him. "...Well then it was all worth it." He said softly as he took the bottle back, his eyes slightly open at it, as if skeptical, before he opened his mouth, his incisors showing as they elongated, becoming dangerous looking as he bit down on the outside of the glass.
The glass morphed through his face, as if passing right through it as the bit off part was shed from his body, falling into his open hand as he held it there, before hulking up the bottle, the wine which covered his hand from shattering it dripping slightly as he gulped down a significant amount of the stuff, the red liquid tinging about his lips as it was furthermore absorbed into his system, before finally relaxing, placing the bottle which still had a decent amount in it on the little table that she did her paperwork on. "...You're welcome." He spoke to her as he contemplated the bottle, before turning back around to the woman who was his captain.
"Want me to send the footage of the battle against it to the lab for further information on the corpse?" He asked, bringing up the hand that held the bottle as his tongue left it, licking up what was remaining on his hand from the shattering of it, before finally relaxing. He had had to let that out, even with his cigarette now moving from the corner of his mouth to the center of the orifice, the smoke trail rising gently. He had had to do it to keep out the Drive, to hold it at bay; by acting like how it could be, he would repress its reaction to her body being pressed so close to him and even against his chest, before he finally looked back up at her, his sapphire blue eyes looking directly at her azure ones.
"Was there anything else you wanted from me while I'm here, Captain." It wasn't a question; it was a statement. The answer was obviously yes; he didn't get called to her office every day. Well, that wasn't true, he was called to her office nearly every day, sometimes multiple times a day, but not in the manner that she could possibly have something for him to do or that she needed from him. He was curious to see what she was up to - or what it was that she had created. Her inventions always interested him, and her actions did as well to a certain… extent.

Oh for god's sake she thought to herself as she rolled her eyes feeling his mouth reconfigure, and thus enabling him to speak. Opting not to pursue the act of silencing him since the the intent had already achieved its purpose, she allowed her hand to slide off from his lips. Fixing one of her strands of her to the back of her ear, she simply looked off to the side as if something was supposed to be there. Though she acted quite strange when not around the other Captains or in public, Crystal was almost very aware of her surroundings. She was quite aware of most things Kyu did and had pretty good idea for his reasoning. Even if trying to add logic to his behavior seemed like a nearly fruitless endeavor. Her behavior with Kyu when the two were alone would have easily indicated otherwise, but she was highly cognizant at all times. She merely faked her sense of perception not as a form of deception but rather as a reflex from a habit she had developed. People usually tended to feel at ease when they were not aware she over-analyzed every inch of them. Though Kyu was likely the one person who could see through her the most, there were still some things he had trouble deciphering. But then again, part of her charm was the mysterious and inviting allure she had about herself.
"You know," she said as her fingers curled throughout a strand of her long pink hair. "I was actually kind of worried. But seeing your, stuff," she said as she looked him up and down, "we should look into your genes one of this days. I'd love to mess with a sample of your blood." As her words came to an end, the tip of her tongue was slightly visible as it slid off the bottom edge of one of her fangs. Was there a double meaning and ulterior motive to her words? Possibly. Maybe. Maybe not. But that was not important. Giving him time to reflect, think, and gulp down the wine, she was not as surprised as perhaps she should have with what he did to the neck of the bottle of wine. She had been worried what she had done would constitute a problem, but having do what he did, though somewhat unexpected, had relieved her of any worries she might have had. "Yes." "Have the footage sent to the lab once you leave. I'll have someone dissect the information and have a report ready once I arrive.
Though she had moved slightly away from him as her face now lingered a few inches away from him, one of her hands was gently resting against his chest as if trying to hear a heartbeat. "Actually," she started, "There were a couple of things I wanted to show you." Hand still on his chest she said, "Hey Ted, come here baby." The tone of her voice was specially gentle and delicate, unlike anything she'd ever been heard say before. It was kind of the way a good mother would speak to a very young child crawling their way to them. "Come here," she continued, before a small, about two foot tall, light brown teddy bear peaked its head from behind her office desk. With a smile on her face she saw the initially timid teddy approach her in respond to her command. Standing by her feet, its fluffy head and ears brushed gentle against the bare skin by her calves and her knees. "This is Ted, our first familiar. I had him finish earlier today while you were gone. This was our first combine creation." As she spoke, her words were traced by a smile that seemed more professional than friendly. Not that she lacked those feelings but rather because the subject had to do with her responsibilities, and she placed her duties over nearly everything. "So?" she asked hoping to hear his comments on their first prototype for the familiar project.

"Nowadays, there shouldn't be anything of particular interest in there, Captain.. ...Thanks for worrying about me, as unnecessary as it may have been. " He said, the comment flowing from his mouth. It was a bit strange; not unlike something he would normally say, but he normally didn't say unnecessary things… like thank you. At least, to most people, anyway. His eyes watched as her tongue moved about slightly in her mouth, making him wonder if perhaps she wasn't talking about his devilish good looks. "Anyway… Doubt you'd care for something so… biological." He stated, almost as if testing her belief that he was indeed a biological being, and not something mechanical. The truth was that Kyu was a hybrid of man and machine; and at any given time could be either or both.
"...Understood…" Was all he said in reply to her reply to his portion of business; now that business was taken care of, he had returned to his normal sense once more, before widening his eyes slightly as she drew so close to him, her hand against his shoulder. However, he had already let out his impulses on the wine glass; so he merely relaxed with her up against him. Is she trying to restrain me…? The thought suddenly occurred to him as he heard something out of her lips; something he had never thought he would have heard before. Ted? Who the hell is Ted..? She hasn't any children or pets… Did she finally… find someone…? He wondered, his eyes widening slightly at the space where she was gazing. Partly because of shock; and partly because of possible disappointment. A part of Kyu wanted to share his Captain with no one; absolutely no one. The other part of him told him that Crystal may as well be his lord in his place as retainer, so she should have the rights to do as she pleased. The two forces pulled at one another within his head, before suddenly something walked out from behind the desk.
"...What is… Ah…." He let out, before he heard her explaining what it was. He looked at the way it was pressed against her calves and her knees , and the two parts had a miniature-war once again, until his scientific curiosity finally went FULL OVERRIDE to study the new creation, bending down on his knees, his tie flapping about slightly as he looked at the little teddy bear. "...He's not sleeping with you, is he." He asked, completely bluntly and directly to the point. He knew the design was perfect; it was one of Crystal's creations, after all, and therefore flaws were… unlikely, to say the least. What he cared about was how close the test subject was going to be to his Captain. He knew there were times when she could be just a tad… off. Just a tad. He wanted to make sure that she wasn't making a habit of taking the thing to bed, or that it used to be a stuffed animal that she had owned previously. After all, if it got called to duty in the middle of the night… Well, he didn't want to think of the possible unpleasantness it would incur upon Crystal's beautiful form.
"...I have little doubts that soon the Soul Society will become completely impregnable with the usage of this creation." Was what he said at last in response to the question of his opinion of the little guy. His Cybereyes were going through the schematics of the teddy bear, and he noticed how timid it had acted at first. It has a personality…? He wondered, before at last standing up again so that his captain could hang off of him If she so desired. She looked tired. As in, really tired. "...Captain, do you know what Friday is?" He asked suddenly, recalling a specific piece of information he had picked up on his way back from killing the hollow. It had been a while since Kyu had taken the Captain out anywhere fun… and he was feeling that that was long overdue, no matter what Teddy Bears tried to get in the way….

Rolling her eyes she diverted her sight and her thoughts from Kyu's well being. It was possible she worried about him a bit too much from time to time. His skills and his knowledge made him capable in just about any area so there was no real reason to worry. However, he was just about the one person she could admit to caring enough for. So even if she did veil it, it was clear to him, and even to other Captains that despite the professionalism and responsibility to her duties, she had a fair feeling of attachment to him. Some of the things he said however, despite being just a result of his natural personality, did put her off some. "You are wrong dear." she said with a smile, "I'm interested in everything. And you... You are definitely one I'll get into." though the flow of her words was near impeccable, she had chosen her words carefully for that very specific reason. She was obviously talking about the blood samples and the potential benefits she may acquire from them. That was likely it. Did she mean she'd actually like to get involved with him in a closer level? Well... she had not quite specified, so it was better left to his own interpretation.
Once she had called for Ted, it was impossible not to see the sudden change in Kyu's expression, even if he had chosen to speak no words yet. Distressed, nervous, troubled, worried, those were all potential hypothesis that would be substantiated or shot down depending on the behavior he would exhibit from there on. One of the wonders of science and social relations was that, regardless of species, for the most part, and within a somewhat broad spectrum, much like experiments, individuals could be targeted and figured out very similarly. "Excuse me?" she asked in a soft, almost surprised tone of voice at the near-hesitant words from her Lieutenant after Ted had made himself visible. As her eyes trailed Kyu's body as he lowered to get a closer look at Ted, she had a very brief thought which she had shook from her head nearly as fast as it had made its way there. In her mind, Crystal and Kyu, in their same positions, looked not at a Ted, but instead at a small child with a striking resemblance to the characteristics each of them shared. Replacing her smile with a more serious expression, she did not like the thought very much but made sure no attempt, should Kyu look up, would manage to even get close to getting a glance of her brief serious expression. Its not that she disliked the idea of a child or even having one with Kyu. The problem was she had been recently been appointed a Captain. Though her work preceded her and she was doing, by other Captain's comments, an amazing job, she was her harshest critic and always desired to push forward. She had made it her life's endeavor to surpass the original Captain Commander Yamamoto and the current Commander. Though the road would be a hard traveled and arduous one, she knew one day she would stand atop with her name written in the history of the world. Part of her wanted a child. Part of her wanted a calm life with Kyu and a kid, perhaps more. But that part was not welcomed. At least not yet. It would be a lie to say she didn't want it, but she had to force herself to believe she shouldn't do it yet. She shouldn't...right? She truly didn't know, and it was this problem, one of the rare for which she, one of the brightest had no answer to, that made her push the thoughts aside for an uncertain day and a different future and rather focus on what was happening at that very moment.
"Actually", she said as she paused for a second to laugh, "He always gets me in bed." She had delivered a response nearly as straightforward as the way he had pitched the question. Like with most of her statements, she would leave the potential possibilities up to his interpretation. The teddy's exterior look was just modeled after a teddy bear she had seen in a very sad movie while on the human world. It had no clear attachment to her besides its orders. For the time being, and during its testing period, Ted was tasked with remaining near her, and that triggered most of its actions. She did in fact sleep with him for the last few nights, mostly because he was rather soft and cuddly and easy to fall asleep on. Ted did not seem to mind it since staying close to her was its temporary orders. Did she actually meant anything else with her comments about what went on at night? It would be fun to imagine Kyu struggling with the idea but she would not entertain the thought unless he picked at it, at which point she would most definitely abide as the amusing scenario would have been just too much to pass.
"Let's hope so", she replied with an assertive tone to her voice. As soon as Ted has been tested worthwhile and satisfactory we can begin building more specialized units for more specialized purposes." Hand still on Kyu's shoulder, as she had slid it there when he had moved lower, her other hand reached down atop Ted's soft fluffy head as her fingers massaged the fur. "I think it should go well. And with potential squads interested, we'd have more layaway to expand and branch out some in our experiments." Whether it was because of the conversation or how close Kyu was to her bare legs, Ted grabbed on to Crstal's leg, one of its soft paws by her knee cap just slightly above her knee and the bottom of her thigh. "Some of our other experiments seem to have gone well," she said specifically referring to a few items Kyu and her had worked on together. "They, like this little guy, should provide fair and generous results."

"Me, wrong…" He muttered, almost as if in disbelief, but more like in reflecting on the words that she had told him. "Not unless I get into you first, Chrys…" Was the murmured reply; a reply with a voice that was not quite the one that Kyu normally used. However, he himself seemed to take no notice of it; and the insides of his mind were reflecting on the endearing way that she referred to him. Dear… yes, she regards me as dear… I regard her as… What do I regard Crystal as…? My captain is not correct… … She is dear to me as well, it would seem. He concluded within his own mind, before Ted finally came out of its hiding place.
"You're excused." He said presently, allowing her the freedom of politeness… but not without his own special method of giving it to her. The identity of the situation was not lost on the male as he looked down at the teddy bear below them; but he simply did not recognize it. It was another piece of data that was permanently locked within his mind, stored just like hundreds of millions had been in the past, dull to the facts of his own existence as that part of his mind where he kept his consciousness would not allow for him to see the situation for what it truly was, or allow him to look at Crystal in the way that he subconsciously knew she desired so strongly. He desired it, as well; but he was not aware of that fact, even to himself.
"…" As she said that back in reply, his eyes looked up at her for a moment, those eyes that said "Oh no, are you serious?" but in an almost… sarcastic manner. His right hand reached out, the finger tip poking against the eye of Ted as a single nanobot, undetectable to nearly every and any sensors, flowed within it, binding with the other circuitry inside of the teddy bear, interfacing with the inside of Kyu's own mind… not that Crystal would likely be able to recognize this. There were things that he could do that he kept from his own Captain; such as his time in the Americas, for instance. He was merely her weapon, or her tool; whichever she desired, he would gladly become with the entirety of his soul.
"Hope holds little sway when compared to the power of fact, Captain...a nd what I stated earlier shall become fact. Merely give it time to grow…" He explained to her, reassuring her in that way of his that was both detached and yet also intimately involved with his surroundings. As she lowered herself to put down her hand on its head to massage its fur, Kyu looked down at it, his eyes slightly… softening. "...We're all cooped up in here. One way, or another, they'll end up using them…" He continued, looking as Ted grabbed onto Crystal further, his gaze unchanging. "He seems rather attached. Any programming at all other than to follow orders?" He asked, basically wondering aloud if Ted had a consciousness or was just another robot. "…"
She didn't respond to his question, so finally his right eye twitched, his head moving in that peculiar manner as it flowed into his manner of speaking; that tone, that special, unique flavor that only his words could trigger, the ones that forced others to pay attention, because it stimulated the part of them that would tell them to give him their utmost focus. "Crystal. Do you know what Friday is. This Friday." He continued to impress upon her, his words as smooth as liquid silk as they entered her ears, most likely giving the entirety of her brain a pleasant buzz and likely making her weak in the knees as she listened as a result. Kyu did not like resorting to the Influencing Touch, but sometimes she gave him no choice; this was something he regarded as frankly… important, and he wanted her to listen to what he had to say on this particular subject.

"Yes" she muttered in a low tone of voice to herself. As difficult as it may have been for Kyu to belief, mistakes were a natural part of science. Along with success and results one must also learn to accept and become acquainted with mistakes and failure as an opportunity to learn and grow from. And he was no different. Though he had spoken in a softer, less audible tone of voice, Crystal had been able to hear him. It didn't do quite much more than make her bat an eyelash however. She knew her comment was in a way, double edged, so she had no quarrel with him trying to respond in an equally acute way. Having rid herself of the thoughts that just did not belong, she was already quite re-adapted to the situation and looked on at the two individuals beneath her. She hadn't really stopped to notice but in the position that Ted and Kyu were in, it was pretty easy to get a simple and easy clear view underneath her skirt. However, she always wore tight very short black shorts underneath her skirt that rested even higher. Even if the shorts were tight enough to show the contours of her private area, the lack of light underneath the skirt plus their color made it nearly impossible to see anything. Plus, even if he did, she truly wouldn't care much. She'd have to be in a very bad mood to even think of retaliating.
"I guess I am," she said closing her eyes with a smile before reopening them almost as if expecting something. Crystal was a lot smarter than she looked. In fact, some may even say she does it in purpose. Though her exterior may be indicative of someone rather aloof or detached from the situation, she is always highly cognizant and aware of her surroundings. Although she knew most of what there was to know about Kyu, it was true, like with every individual, that there were a few things she was not yet clear on. But that made it fun and interesting, and likely one of the many reasons they were at ease with eachother aside from their duties. Nevertheless, she traced with her eyes as Kyu reached out, letting his fingertip touch one of Ted's pupil. The robot had not been given real pain receptors as it only seemed fair, and as such, it remained as it was before, looking on. With a smile, it was nearly impossible to decipher what was going on through Crystal's mind. However, she was fully aware of what Kyu was up to. Not because she could sense or because she had a hunch. Instead, she was seeing it. Kyu was also very observant and aware of his Captain and knew more about her than anyone else. However, there were still a myriad of things he was not aware of. Some of which, specially the more detrimental secrets, she had no plan to unveil until perhaps in the distant future should something of great proportions were to happen between them. Either way, it seemed he wasn't quite aware of her orbital improvements. Though her eyes appeared just as they were before, she had focused in her gaze and magnified her view to a microscopic degree enough to pinpoint a nanobacteria. In doing so she saw the nanobot Kyu had released into Ted. Surprisingly however, she made no real motion or distinctive expression that would give him the slightest clue as to her knowledge of the events that had preceded. Instead, she merely continued to smile with the same natural and honest disposition she had just moments before.
"I know," she said with a more straightforward and firmer tone. "It was just a way of saying. I'm sure the units will be a success with a fair number of the divisions. And, they will most definitely be of great use to us and our endeavors." It was no secret that aside from the 2nd Division, the 12th Division was always one of the more shady areas but they had a reason. A lot of their experiments benefited the Gotei 13 as a whole, but as a general rule, they actively participated in experiments for the sake of knowledge, advancement, and new and better results. Taking another look at Ted she picked him up with both of her hands as she looked on at him. "He has to be attached. He functions solely on orders, and the current task is to be close to me so that I may monitor his behavior and his progress. He acts based on my command, there's not much more to it." With that, Ted would sink its head so the fluffy fur of its head was nestled in between her breasts. Pushing his head back some she looked down at it with an expression of near annoyance before exhaling and letting its head go again before it fell back into the space between her breasts once again. That tone of voice, she thought to herself as she tried her best to hold out her laughter, and only allowing a simple grin to become visible. Kyu really did not give her enough credit. First the nanobot and now this. It was true that on previous occasions she had gone along with his ability to somewhat control individuals, but honestly, he had no power over her. Of all the special modifications she had tailored herself to be included within her Phantomtech was one that required a lot of hurdles to get approved. In the end, it made it mostly because she was the Captain of the 12th Squad and held potentially classified information that would not be allowed to leave the Gotei. Crystal was unable to succumb to abilities that altered or tampered in the slightest bit with her senses, her reasoning, her brain, knowledge, intellect, reservoir of thoughts and psychological storage, and everything in between. Thus his intent had done nothing but annoy her at his attempt to think he could so easily influence her being. "Friday its Friday," she said with a distinctive cold and sharp tone to her voice. If her voice had indeed been a weapon, her opponent would have been pierced through and cleanly while jagged spikes ripped at the flesh as they made their way out. "Its just Friday."

Re: The New Twelfth Division [Private]

Being tongue-in-cheek was a bit of one of Kyu's most endearing qualities… when he bothered to show it, which was very rare. It was usually only in these times, the ones in which he and Crystal were completely alone, with no others, Ted excluding, that he allowed for himself to show a part of himself. Normally, he was the silent blade behind or at the side of Crystal herself. Whether that was with other Captain, out in the field, or even among their squad. He didn't think of it in that manner, but it was both an honor and a privilege which he showed and gave to Crystal, and Crystal alone. "…" He was silent about her looking at his finger with that intensity; it seemed as if she definitely expected… something to happen. It would not surprise him if she could see what he had done; but even he did not know now what would happen with the teddy bear now that it had had one of Kyu's biomechnic nanobots added to its configuration.
"Our Endeavors… Yeah…" He told her softly in reply, agreeing, most certainly, though perhaps not as strongly as he would have otherwise as he contemplated the bear once again. ...Your ambition is this, not mine, Crystal… He thought within the deep recesses of his mechanical mind, impossible to perceive from the outside of himself, another one of those secrets which she could possibly suspect but had no way of knowing for certain. "… And what business of the override?" He asked her simply, honestly not knowing that particular piece of information. By override, he meant what was to be done if Ted ended up following orders that he was not supposed to, or intended for; a way to stop him other than her own orders.
"...Why do you grin at it." He asked her bluntly, his mind perfectly recalling the piece of information on her own mental defenses when he had made the statement. "Are you frustrated at me, or that you wouldn't answer my question and ignored my request." He asked her, solemnly, almost sadly; if this man could experience sadness, that was. "No."
He stated, outright denying her words, like a fantastic shield, both dense and durable. "Friday is Valentine's Day." He said simply, letting the words out from his mouth. "And I wanted to know if you wanted to go to the dance they're having." He stated, looking directly at her with those eyes of his. The mechanical eyes that could, if he willed them too, read her presence, her abilities, her emotional state; even read the data coming from her own eyes regarding him. However, none of that was active at the moment; he was looking at her face, just her face. The data, he did not care about in this instance, and that was obvious in his eyes that looked at her without any form of electricity, but with the simple bionic impulses he was born with. "...You could avoid the awkwardness of having to deal with another man pursuing you with it; show that you have a life outside of your captain duties to the other squads, potentially show off Ted to them all…" He stated, showing that he would even allow for her to bring Ted along without making any kind of fuss. "And finally get some rest. When you try to impale me with your own words… you've been working too hard, Captain." He let out at last, his gaze dropping down. Because, overall, at the end of the day.
He honestly was simply worrying about her.
Believe nothing, no matter where you read it or who has said it, not even if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.

Though she had seen the nanobot go into Ted's eye, her restrain and lack of intent to do anything was not without reason. She couldn't imagine that Kyu would do anything to harm or jeopardize the unit. If he did, well, that would be something she would need to take care of personally and in a very special way. He likely intended it for some form of surveillance and honestly, she was curious to see what he could and would do to act on it. Truth was there wasn't anything she would do that she would mind him seeing. Heck, she was likely bound to do things right in front of Ted from now on to get a rouse out of Kyu potentially seeing it through the nanobot. However, if the worst came to pass and there was something which Kyu should absoluteness not be aware of, retrieving and destroying the nanobot would be a cinch. She would have to give him a talk eventually however, specially with the fore-coming units in the project. She had allowed his action mainly because it interested her. Though they would have a copy of the master file for future units and some form of surveillance installed in each of them, she would not one a nanobot on the units sent to other divisions. The Captains were quite particular and she was dammed if she was going to let his antics get her in trouble. Though she enjoyed a lot of things, her duty was nearly above all, and she'd let no one tamper with her work and her reputation.
Continuing to look at Ted she was reminded of some of the advances in the last centuries by previous Captains of the 12th division. She was momentarily reminded of hers and the ones she had in the works. Kyu seemed to be interested in her experiments as part of her division and because it seemed to just be his nature. But he couldn't possibly have as much interest in them as she did. And that was alright, she knew it to be true, but honestly, it was not something she cared much about. She had a deep connection with her experiments and the anticipation of new discoveries, she couldn't hope he could understand her drive on things, and even if he did understand some about her, he would merely be scratching the surface. There was much he did not know, in fact, there was much most people did not know about Crystal. And regardless of her seemingly aloof behavior, she knew more than she showed...about Kyu. Smiling to herself she looked over at her Vice Captain. "Ah, good question," she said maintaining the same smile throughout. "You can find an specially encoded file on the lab which will grant you partial control over Ted. However," she paused as one of her hands rested atop the teddy's head while the other dug into her satchel. "I have the master file for his control. Just as a security measure as any problem or flaw with the teddy will then be put on no one but me. With that she retrieved a small sphere of white and red colors. Pressing on one of the buttons it opened and in a strand of energy the teddy was sucked into the sphere. Though Kyu might not have been aware she had the sphere, he was not oblivious to it as he had passed by the lab during its creation and had even been a vital member of the initial steps of its creation. Though Crystal could have just as easily shoved the Ted into her her nearly limitless satchel, placing him inside the capsule which would then be stored in her bag, seemed to be quite a bit more organized.
Trying to ignore his comment as to the request and his earlier questions she merely placed the sphere into her bag as she searched for something else. She wasn't quite sure what he meant by Friday but she could only imagine it was something that would include fun and drinking. The idea was nice but she just couldn't allow herself to have fun and relaxing times when she could be doing so much more. She needed to be better. She needed it. Widening her eyes with an equally large smile, a large fork-blade was retrieved from her satchel. "Doesn't it look good? she asked as she swung it some looking at its vivid dark and light blue hues before an unwieldy spark begun to form which cause her to rapidly place it back into her satchel. "Remember the blade we were speaking of a fw weeks ago. Well...I was bored" she said pausing to giggle. "I just finished it." It was almost more strange that she found work to be an outlet from boredom than the fact she had finished it already. The spark was not something she found extremely odd given the blade's qualities, but she just hadn't quite expected it. "It was sudden," she said hinting at the sparks from the blade she had just put back into her satchel, "But at least we know its working as intended." The events had taken a few minutes and while she had momentarily forgotten his comments about Friday in the excitement about the blade, it was unlikely he had forgotten or would decide to drop his point.
Sighting and exhaling ever so slowly she decided to speak in regards to his comment before he interrupted her. The interruption would leave her speechless even for a couple of seconds after he had been done speaking. Valentine's Day... she thought to herself. She knew the holiday was soon approaching but she would have never imagined it was quite so soon. It might have been somewhat sad, but in between her duties and her responsibilities, the day had complete gone over her head and she had not the slightest clue until Kyu had mentioned it to her. Connecting eyes with his she was still speechless for seconds to come but for a number of different reasons. He made compelling arguments. If Kyu didn't ask her to the dance, it was likely that another member or vice captain or possibly even one of her fellow Captains would ask her out. Mainly out of courtesy and respect she would have been forced to say yes and abide even if it wasn't her wish to do so. But Kyu had asked her. However, the idea was not as joy-filling as she had expected. Though she sported a smile of gratitude, it was a bit double-sided. Sure, she could deduce that, since Kyu liked her, part of the offer stemmed out of going with her because he wanted to, and to avoid another man's eyes on her and their hands on her body. She liked that part. She liked that he cared. However, gauging the two sides, the side of his desire and side that wanted to ask her because it was the right thing to do and it would benefit her... she just couldn't help but favor one side rather than the other. Regardless of what the situation truly meant, she saw it more as a pity request rather than one from his heart. In a way, she almost wanted to say no, that she didn't need his pity and that she would rather not go, but she would say not such thing. Instead smiling, she merely nodded after listening to every comment of his and just responded with a short and simple, "I'll go."
