Characters that used En in HxH had to really concentrate to produce any high effects, and only a few "elite" type characters that have really polished the skill could perform it while actively engaged in combat; one of the Ryodan would condense his En to a 5ft radius around himself, so anything stepping within it-- 360 degrees-- would alert him and immediately be drawn upon in an unsheathing maneuver.
The concentration aspect is why I had suggested that this ability be integrated in to the 100% pool from the earlier abilities, so if he wanted the sensory capacity, he would have to, if only momentarily, detract from his offensive and defensive abilities. I feel that would be the best way to balance it while still retaining all that it is capable of and simply move the sliders around for the percentage dedicated to it, adding more detail and removing weaknesses as more of his Nen is dedicated to it.
If that's not a route you're willing to take, chopping it down to a something similar to modern day sonar technology would be acceptable.

The ratio / scaling effect sounds fine, puts it somewhere between true En and Zetsu.
