General Ability Template and Racial Ability Template?

I am not entirely sure if it was included all along, but when making abilities; I tend to get overboard and unbalanced with it as multiple app-checkers have experienced before. The main reason why is because I do not have a solid direction as to what is expected. So I wondered, was there a template for abilities that are separate from the application templates for certain reason?

If there are not, I could throw in a penny for a thought as to remedy potential confusion and make it easier for players to know what is expected and for checkers to read it and understand it faster.

Proposed Ability Template

Name: (Name of the ability.)
Type: (Offense, Defense, Support? More specific type can help more.)
Element: (Like fire, air, water and earth.)
Anti-Element: (Which element would it be weak against?)
Pro-Element: (Which element would it be enhanced with? Its own element do not count.)
Magnitude: (Increases with a Skill, with Tier or by other methods?)
Speed: (Slow? Moderate? Fast? Numbers often don't work. Be simple.)
Hardiness: (Can the ability take punishment before expiring? If so, which Durability Rank would it be compared to?)
Blockable? (Yes or No; if Yes, include reason why in Description.)
Dodgeable? (Yes or No; if Yes, include reason why in Description.)
Preparation: (How long before you could use the ability?)
Duration: (Active or Channeled; How long will it be in effect?)
Cooldown: (Assume that when performed, it exhausts some energy from your character; how long before your character recovered to use it again?)
Forum-to-Time Conversion Table
(Assume it goes by minimum amount for each standard RP post.)

Feel free to add more to it or modify it; I just made it based from my experience in receiving criticisms for my abilities. Again, I assumed there was no actual ability templates since the character templates do not featured them.

While I personally don't mind a template like this, for the same reason that we do not like statistical barometers outside of tier, and even that is incredibly loose and flimsy, we probably shouldn't use something like this. While I usually wholeheartedly endorse structure like this, the site is as attractive as it is to some people because not everything absolutely needs defining. This is further complicating the ability creation process which will turn off some of our...we'll say "less receptive to work" members.

Instead of forcing this template upon every ability, I would suggest rewriting this in to a sort of a guide. So people know that these are the general points and facets that each ability should hit, and then let people format their abilities however they feel is right.

I'll keep that in mind, Imakuran. Though I have doubts about my resources to create an effective guide unless the Staff is willing to spare some time to supply me with their expectations on this subject and how they could be handled, then I could compile them into a guide more effectively rather than making blind guesses like this one.

As for the template, it can be a fly or fall kind of experimentation, so we may have to see what more people think about it and suggest for its improvements.
