The search (Natalia and me)

The missing Shinigami. Everyone that went through the shinigami academy knew the story about her. She was about to graduate the academy but then suddenly disappeared. Nobody was sure what had happened to her. Some go so far as to say that it is only a rumor spread around to scare the students but many still knew it to be true. A simple check of the official records clearly marks her presence in the academy but then she suddenly drops from all records. She is officially declared as missing but most people accept the common believe that she is dead. Until it can be proven that this was her fate they would not actually list that though. Now that he was out of the academy himself someone decided that they finally wanted an answer to the mystery. He was assigned to try and figure out what actually happened to the girl. It was not going to be an easy task but he knew that if he managed to accomplish it then it would impress a lot of people and he wanted to look good. He wanted to be somebody in the soul society and listening to his orders was just one step along the way. He would gladly take this task and he vowed that he would accomplish it. He gathered his things making sure to grab some supplies because he did not know how long he would be looking and his Zanpakutō because you never know what kind of dangers there are along the way. He was smart and resourceful so he was sure that one way or another he would find this missing shinigami.

He set out to try and discover what he could about this case. He decided to start at the academy because at least there he would be able to find out a little. The students came and went but the instructors usually stayed the same. It was possible that one of them might know something about where she was. He asked around but all that he found was that she had apparently vanished. Nobody can disappear entirely and he knew that she was somewhere. He searched everywhere he could possibly think of and found absolutely no trace of her. She seemed to be nowhere in the soul society. He remembered a quote he like from when he was alive. "If you rule out the impossible whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth." The impossible was that she simply stopped existing and it seemed impossible that she was still in the soul society and that just left the possibility that somehow she had left the soul society which would imply she was most likely in the world of the living. At very least he hoped she was because if she was somewhere else he wasn't so sure that he would stand much of a chance of being successful.

He put in the proper paper work to request leave to go search in the world of the living. Because it related to his assignment he did not have to try very hard. Once he finally got there something inside of him told him that he was on the right tract. He wasn't sure where she could possibly be here but there was only so many places that he needed to look. He had to find spiritual pressure or look in a place that could hide it and there were only so many places like that in the world of the living. He would find this missing shinigami if it was the last thing that he did.

Natalia was out on one of her standard strolls a soft sigh escaping her lips. Soon she ended up feeling something that she did so rather recognize. Her mind however was twisting and turning at the fact that something that seemed out of the ordinary had come. A soft grin crossed over her lips as she took in a deep breath and Used her shunpo ability to get a look at this newcomer she had felt. She did not even try to hide her presence at all. She stood there staring at the person who was now standing before her. For some reason she looked rather unimpressed at the thing that stood before her though she had a tendency to look at everyone that way. She had a horribly made looking eye patch over her right eye and her sword was still at her side. It would possibly not even be able to be recognized as a zanpacto cause of its look was that of no normal one.

So you are who i felt huh?? Well i must admit i suppose it is nice to see something so diffrent for a change.. But i suppose the more things change the more they stay the same.

She could not help but laugh at her own comment though the laugh was soon taken by a soft grin. She was not sure why the person who was before her was even here though she mush admit she was rather curious. shaking her head she stared at the person with her head tilted to one side. She slowly moved to walk around him her arms behind her back as she inspected the person. She was not sure what to make of him though she did know something seemed diffrent. Though then again she could not really talk all that much about diffrent.

And who are you exactly and why are you here?? You do not look like you would be able to come to this area normally... So i take it you are on some kind of special assignment or some crap like that?? Then again i could be wrong. after all its not like i know everything.. Just stuff i like to take random guesses at. Though you do have that... Odd air about you. It is rather interesting though that is just about it.

As she talked she soon ended up stoping in front of the person and looked them in the eyes as she finished her sentence. She knew the chance she was wrong was high but at the present time she really did not care at all. She was more interested in this little game that she had cooked up over the person then anything else. And if she was right she would have to end up praiseing herself over it. Though she would praise herself quite possibly either way.

He was surprised when the girl appeared in front of him so soon after he came to the world of the living. He could feel something strange about the girl. The spiritual energy coming from her seemed like it could be from a shinigami but there was something strange about it. It was not hard to see that she was armed and the sword she was carrying was clearly not an ordinary one but neither did it look like a Zanpakutō. He watched her carefully listening to her words trying to figure out who in the world this girl was. He was getting nixed ideas about everything while looking at this girl. He could not decide if she was friendly or a threat? Was she a shinigami or something else? None of these things were obvious to him. This made it hard to decide just what to do. He decided that if there was not one clear path for him to take he would prepare for all of them. He wore his Zanpakutō on his left side and placed his left hand on his Zanpakutō's sheath just below the arm guard and popped it out just a little with his thumb just in case this girl was hostile though he hoped that it would not come to that.

"I don't know who it is you felt but I suppose it is possible it was me. My name is Steven and I'm here looking for someone. A girl that disappeared from the shinigami academy. You wouldn't happen to know much about that would you?" he asked her wondering if this could possibly be that girl. He wasn't sure about that but he possibility existed. She definitely had some power that seemed like a shinigami's even though it was clearly a bit different. He also didn't expect to find her right away after coming to the world of the living so that made him doubt very much the legitimacy of this idea.

Natalia slowly tilted her head to one side as she took note that the boy was weary of her. Though to be honest it was a good idea to be so considering the way she was normally. Though for the time being she decided to play along with the person and see how things started to play out. Her right eye brow seemed to raise up as he mentioned her own past in a way and she could not help but giggle as she slowly closed her eyes. Her mind raceing on how she could make a slight teaseing motion before deciding to say who she was. She then clapped her hands together as she got an idea though she was curious if it was something she should do though in a way she really did not care at the moment.

Looking for someone are you? Was she about this tall?

She said putting her hand up to her height sense she had not really changed look wise except for holding one eye shut.

had hair about like mine. same with eyes. and go by the name Natalia by chance?? if so no i can not say i have ever seen her.

She stated with a soft grin as she could not seem to hold it in. She soon started to laugh for no apperant reason though she did know the reason. A soft sigh escaped her lips as she slowly closed her eye and took in a deep breath.

I do not know if i can be of much help but I will tell you my name i suppose. After all i will have to admit it sooner or latter.. I am Natalia DeMortes. Pleasure to meet you i suppose. I guess i could say that sense i got a decent laugh cause of you.

He watched her as she went on about the missing shinigami. He could tell after moments that this was exactly the person he was sent to look for but he couldn't truly belief that it was her. The name matched and the description matched but she didn't feel like a shinigami. He couldn't understand just what this feeling was that he was getting from her. Almost like it was a different power inside of her. There was still the shinigami powers but there was something else. He was glad that she had such an apparently easy going attitude about this whole thing but he didn't crack a smile at her jokes. He was sent here on a mission and he would fulfill it professionally. He took every assignment seriously.

"Well I am glad that you find me so amusing but there are some things that we need to do. So your the one that disappeared from the academy. You caused quite a stir with that you know. There are a great many questions that need to be answered. What happened to you when you disappeared? Where have you been the entire time? Why didn't you come back? The soul society needs to know what happened and why so that they can be sure to keep it from happening again. They also need to know exactly what happened to you. They just knew you disappeared. Nobody knew if you were dead or just gone. So do you want to tell me here or come back to the soul society."

While he was talking to her trying to make sure everything went smoothly he never removed his hand from his Zanpakutō. He knew to many times that something that started with conversation ended with conflict. He was going to try and make sure that didn't happen but he was going to be prepared just in case.

Natalia tapped her chin as she thought about everything that was just told to her. It was true that she was the shinigami that went missing but she could not tell him everything that happened to her. She decided to say the most important parts but leave some of them out just in case. After all everything was alot to say and she did not want them to know everything. Noding her head she gave a slight grin as she stared at the male.

Yes it is true that i am the one who dissapeared just before graduation to.. I was kinda miffed about that. Though as to all thats happened and how i dissapeared The how is not known even to me. I was prepared for graduation and appeared in the world of the living with no warrning at all. the where i have been is rather simple here in the living world is where i have been. I could have gone back at any time but i figured i was sent here for a reason. I've been fighting hollows the whole time i've been here. And as to the what happened to me i suffered an unfortunate accident against a hollow that ended up messing with my right eye. True its not damaged persay but it had some side efects to it that makes me keep it hidden. It tends to now give off a diffrent feel then my normal energy so its not really normal in a way. As to evrything else i think it would be best if i stay here.. If the shingiami want to send someone after me that would be fine as well. Though if they feel i still am pretty much at graduation material i suppose i could go back though i would like to be assigned to watch over this place.. I have forged a life here. Though it is not considered the best i am about to go to this human school possibly so i am rather curious as to how it all will play out.

She said with a soft smile as she stared at him. Slowly noding her head she gave a soft sigh as her eyes trailed to his hands. Shakeing her head she moved her hand to her weapon as well. as she giggled she slowly moved to take in a deep breath.

I would sugjest you not try takeing me back by force. Not just for your or my sake. For the sake of my Zanpacto. No one but me can touch it unless i give them permission and i would so hate that if you do manage to beat me that my sword would end up staying here untill i can return to get it. So you would be wise to simply remove your hand from the weapon or you may end up losing your chance to state that i am still alive.

She stated with a soft grin as she watched the male. Her arms still crossed over her chest to show she was serious though then again her mind was raceing as she soon prepared to leave the scene if the need called for it. Though she was not sure how she would do but she was still pretty confident in her chances to make a decently easy escape.

He watched her and felt out her energy while she answered some but not all of his questions. There was still missing information and it was possible that she didn't know most of it but more likely then not she was simply not telling him everything that he wanted to know. He was curious about what she meant about her eye working but having to hide it. If it was giving off the strange energy then that would be why he was having these strange feelings and why she didn't entirely feel like a shinigami. He was willing to accept her answers for now. It was not his mission to learn everything about this women only find her and get as much info as he could. People wanted to know what happened to her and he could give them a decent answer.

He heard her threats about trying to fight her and finally relaxed his grip on his Zanpakutō letting it slide fully back into its sheath though his arm didn't fully relax and stayed close to the hilt. "Okay I believe what you have told me though I am sure there is more to this story. I am not, however, the person that will be in charge of figuring everything out. I have no intention of taking you back by force it was just a reflex reaction. I didn't want to be caught off guard in case you turned out to be hostile. I didn't know exactly what your intentions are or how you would react my questions. I take these things very seriously. As for whether or not you could graduate right away I am not sure about that. I do not make those kinds of decisions but if you did graduate the academy you could certainly request to be posted here. Many shinigami get to go where they want to. Do you want to come back with me or should I come back with someone a bit higher up?"

He was happy that things appeared to be going so smoothly. So far there hadn't been a major incident on this assignment though with things going well so far he wouldn't be surprised if something happened along the way. His luck never let him have a mission that went exactly how he expected. Something always came up to complicate matters. He didn't mind any more really because unpredictable challenges helped him to get stronger. Still he hoped that just once he wouldn't have to deal with something like that.

Closed her eye as she gave it some thought. Soon a slight smile crossed over her lips as she turned away to look around. She was not sure wich she would preffer though in a way she thought it would be slightly more interesting with someone further up the chain. Slowly noding her head she turned to look to the shinigami again as she offered a slight nod of the head.

I belive i would preffer someone higher up the ranks. Nothing personal to you... But i do belive that everything may fall into place more with the higher up. Considering everything that happened even i do not know they may have more information then you would have even been able to get in your training.

She stated nodding her head as her pointer finger gently tapped her chin. She could not help but laugh as the grin on her face began to widen. She for some reason found it amuseing that holding a weapon would make one feel safer in the view of a possible attacker. Though it did not matter to her the reason within the others mind she still found it rather amusing. Shakeing her head clear of those thoughts she then turned to stare at the shinigami before her.

I bet you do not really have one... Though if by some miricle you do what rank are you within the shinigami? Or are you not out of training yet? If so i can not help but wounder why they would send one so quite possibly un prepared to come after me?? Or is it that you are some kind of prodigy like i was before you?

She would not say anything but she had to admit she was rather curious about what this persons response would be. Though it may not be as amusing as she would have hoped it was still something to figure out at the very least.

He watched as she seemed to think about a lot of things. He couldn't help but notice that she found a lot of things amusing so her finding him amusing probably wasn't that hard for her to do. He was curious himself why he had been sent on this mission and not someone else that would have been a bit more powerful then he was. He was sure he could handle himself against just about everything that would come at him on this mission but he couldn't be entirely sure. If he had been a captain then nothing would be strong enough to stop him but the fact was he wasn't even a seated member yet just a regular one.

"I wouldn't say that I was a prodigy like you claim to be but while at the academy I was unbeatable with the Zanpakutō. It was easily me best area throughout all of the training. Though I also had quite a bit of skill with weapons before I joined the shinigami was well so that isn't any surprise. I guess that they sent me here on this mission cause they thought I would be able to handle myself against anything that showed up. Besides how would I ever get any stronger if they just put me up against things that were weaker then me. You need to challenge yourself to grow so if I run into somehting here that is difficult to fight then I will have to push myself and become stronger which is a good thing in my book."

He thought about who the best person high in the rankings would be to come and talk to this girl and he honestly had not idea. He was still new to the gotei 13 so he didn't know everyone yet. It was also a question of how in the world would he get them to come here. Most of them were very busy or just wouldn't spend the time of day to do something like this. He knew that they would have a bit more knowledge then him and be able to answer more questions but he wasn't sure of how to go about getting them there at the moment.

Natalia could not help but laugh as a soft grin crossed over her lips. Slowly shakeing her head she turned her gaze upon the one standing before her. Her right eye would seem to have a power surge comeing from underneath her eye patch. The energy given off from it would have been something the person before her quite possibly had never felt before.

This is rather amuseing though. they send someone into the feild to come after someone. That much is understandable. Though they send someone like you to come after someone who even they themselves do not know anything of past the point of that would have been when i vanished? That sounds like a poor judgment call on their part.. Though i suppose they have their reasons foolish though they may be.. Well at least you know those possible ghost stories in a way are true.. minus the parts with me dieing.

She stated with a soft smile as she gently runs her fingers through her hair. She did not know what else to say though she did find it amuseing on what they decided to send after an unknown element as the case would be. She stood there looking to the person as if waiting to see if they would try to get her to submit to going sooner or not. Though she did not really think the one before her really could get her to go. In a way the amusment of the possible attempt made her rather curious of the actions that would take place.
