- Appearance Description: With a gaunt figure, Risteárd hardly looks threatening. His posture is relatively underwhelming--hell, he barely looks like he's strong enough to carry the gigantic cross on his back. However, this is only because he has never needed to be that strong. His figure, though rather slim, is extremely hard and toned--not built--Risteárd's musculature is more suited towards strength than actual power (yes, there is a difference). When one looks at his naked form, they see a multitude of scars covering him--some large, some small; though they all seem to be from the same treatment. He is tall and lanky, weighing only 72 kg despite being 6'2. His posture is somewhat bent-over, though that is due to a small back problem as opposed to anything else.

When fully-clothed, Risteárd looks nothing like a Quincy. Refusing to even follow in their color scheme, he is seen in a completely black uniform, almost like that of the Western Priests, though he tends to keep his jacket and shirt somewhat open up top. His neck-length black hair is scruffy and unkempt, and there is almost always some stubble on his chin. His flesh is barely tanned, and his face, though kind, has an intense sharpness to it that makes one wonder exactly what he's thinking at the time. What makes it even more difficult to discern such things are the pair of glasses that are almost constantly on his face. He really doesn't look like the Headmaster of such a powerful school.

- Personality: The victor. The champion. The one to step out in front of the world, crying out to them all as the one who stands above them--it doesn't matter how you want to say it, because that's exactly what Risteárd wants, no matter what you think. He must always win, no matter what cost there is to himself. Even if the competition is simple and friendly; hell, even if there is no actual competition, Risteárd is a completely victory-driven, self-propelled machine, doing whatever it takes to grasp victory from those who would take it away. He will put everything he has into a battle, or into a game, and use his own heavily-strategic and intelligent mind to do what is best for his own victory--it will always be assured when Risteárd wants to win. In fact, it is because of this philosophy that he has reformed Karakura High School in the ways that he has--he believes that healthy competition is the basis of everything in life, and a learning experience that will give the greatest lessons needed.

Of course, not everything will always go to plan. Behind the confident and victory-wishing visage of Risteárd Engel is a somewhat different man, clueless to the workings of the world around him. He is extremely intelligent, sure, but that doesn't mean much when your intelligence has failed you. He has a tendency to panic and worry when he feels powerless--being unable to do anything is actually his greatest fear in life, and he will do everything in his power to make sure that it isn't realized. If he gets into a situation where he cannot grasp the fruits of victory, it is quite possible that he will freeze up and panic. If this happens, there is little that can be done until he calms himself down.

In line with his intelligence, Risteárd has an unfortunate superiority complex when dealing with people of somewhat 'lesser' intelligence to him. He doesn't like judging people, but there are times when it's a natural reaction for him. The man tends to make snarky and sarcastic comments about the intelligence of others when such a thing occurs. This sort of feeling is generally allayed by simple understanding, usually, but when he feels the need to compete? He will not hold back. He will not let any holds go barred. Instead, he will do everything in his power to put the win in his favor. He isn't against cheating or pulling tricks to win, either--though if it is really needed, he will make sure to win fairly. It's a complicated process, you know.

For such an intelligent man, however, Risteárd claims a great deal of relaxation time--when he's not solving puzzles or making contacts, he tends to just sit back and let his body relax completely. He believes that relaxation and calmness are the best ways to go, and tensing yourself up for anything is foolish and only destined to bring a loss to those who try. He frequently partakes in alcohol, and occasionally a bit of marijuana for when the time is right. He's also normally quite relaxed when it comes to sex and partners, though he is a family man... sorta... at heart. If he finds one, he'll stick with that one. But don't tell Leysa that.

Don't piss him off. Although this can certainly be said for most people, Risteárd is one you especially want to watch. He can get quite possessive over the school especially. If something that he has under his guardianship is threatened, he will turn ruthless--as said before, he desires victory in everything that he does, so his pride will not allow him to lose. He will destroy everything that has threatened his precious. Victory will always be assured, and if he cannot win on his own, he'll make damn sure that everyone else can.

- Human Skills:

Unfortunate Nature: Due to his unique training and evolution, a lot of the Quincy general abilities are unavailable to Risteárd--he cannot use Blut, Blut Vene, Blut Arterie, Ransotengai, Letzt Stil or Vollstandig.

Absolute Dominance: Risteárd, in exchange for a lot of loss of a lot of his Quincy abilities, has gained something far more worth his time. The Absolute Dominance is the utter pinnacle in Quincy usage of Reiryoku. This can be further augmented by nanomachines--such as the ones spread throughout the buildings of Karakura High School, which has been formulated out of reishi instead of actual building materials. Normally he is capable of completely controlling the reishi within approximately 150 feet of his person to his will--save for the particles that formulate beings. The nanomachines in Karakura High allow him to use the entire school effectively. The reishi are then moved around his Punisher cross and forced to take form into whatever he's chosen. This object can then be used as, usually, a weapon of massive power.

Enhanced Metabolic Rate: An enhanced rate of metabolism means that Risteárd's body heals quickly, closing up 90% of wounds within a few seconds of their opening. As well as this, it has a beneficial effect on his looks--although he is almost 200 years old, he looks barely 30. Completely fatal (no possible healing) wounds will most likely kill him, though this is determined by a coin toss. If he survives, he is out of the fight for good.

Superhuman Strength: Although he is human, Ristead's need to skilfully wield such a heavy device to use his Quincy powers requires him to have an insane amount of strength. Able to lift at least 500 kilograms without any issues whatsoever, Ristead's limits are reached when he attempts to lift approximately 972kg. He wishes to reach 1000.

- Quincy Items:

2x Glock 22 .40 Calibre, Quincy-cross replicas: Designed in much the same way as the Punisher, these weapons are able to be used with a smaller amount of spiritual energy, fired as pistol rounds against an enemy. Being made of spiritual particles (and effective arrow replicas), these rounds are able to harm physical and spiritual beings alike.

- Quincy Cross: Known only as 'Punisher', the Cross of Risteárd Engel is a gigantic medium, weighing in at approximately 150kg (330lb). Normally carried on his back and wrapped, the Cross truly comes into its own when it is revealed--showing a large metallic weapon, not unlike a gun.

Unlike most Quincy, who would use their Quincy Cross to summon up their own spirit weapon, Risteárd is forced to use the Punisher itself as his own weapon, converting reishi into bullet-sized projectiles and firing them out at a high rate of speed, almost like that of a machine gun. With this, Risteárd is capable of one of the highest firing rates of all Quincy--releasing over 9000 projectiles within a second. This is, of course, allayed by the fact that each projectile is about a quarter of the size and power of the usual Quincy arrow.

However, this is not the only function. By switching the used end of the Punisher, Risteárd can take in a larger amount of spiritual particles, firing a round akin to that of a bomb--a single shot that is capable of triple the strength of a Quincy arrow--with a five foot lethal range to all unprotected enemies.

- Background: He should've died. That's what they all were saying as they crowded around him. The man that lay upon that concrete, face down, body sprawled into a completely unnatural position... he should've died. They watched him, they just watched him do it. The man stepped up at the edge of the building--standing fifteen stories above ground. He had watched the world going by, letting soft tears drop down from his face as he finally understood what he was about to do. 18 years old. Nothing going for him. Dropped out of High School--he was too intelligent for it, got lazy. No girlfriend--none would ever feel 'right', to him. His mother and father hated him, told him just how much of a stain he was on their family. They wanted him gone, so he left. Moved out. But where to? With no job, no money, the man had nothing to live with, or live for. So he'd come here. A small enough building, but large enough that he would most certainly die from the fall. And now, as he looked over the edge... the finality of death came and slammed into his mind, sealing his last thoughts away. And with those last thoughts gone, Risteárd Engel dropped from the edge, letting his body feel the wind blow past it, almost resisting, trying to slow him down. It wouldn't happen. They just watched. They just watched as a man jumped from a building and accepted Death with open arms. Greeted him like an old friend. Fell to his doom.

He should've died. But he didn't. Laying there, all that Risteárd could feel was pain. Physical pain, associated with colliding with concrete at a high speed. Mental pain--regret at not dying when he should've. And yet... he laughed. "Can't even... kill myself right..." Laughing on the ground as the blood spread out around him, he noticed the presences of the people starting to fade away... along with his consciousness.

Waking within the Hospital in Karakura, Risteárd found himself completely healed from his injuries--something that he himself had never known of before. Standing before him was as man who simply called himself "Livio". Livio, apparently, was a travelling Quincy, who had heard about this boy's drop and wished to meet with him. When he inquired about Quincies, Livio laughed and patted him on the back, telling him that he would find out later and that it didn't really matter. What mattered was that Risteárd had potential, and he wanted to train him. Risteárd accepted without question--devoting himself, from then onwards, to Livio's training.

Now, Livio wasn't your exact definition of a Quincy. Coming from a specific line of the mediums, they were never able to truly form bows, and had to force their own powers out through other methods. Within their clan, they had created what was known as the 'Punisher' weapon system, an artifical Quincy Spirit Weapon that replaced the general Medium used by a Quincy. Unfortunately, it weighed 150kg--meaning that in order to effectively use it in combat, Risteárd would need to be well-versed in strength, and eventually close quarters combat. Thus began the first stage of his training--actually being able to lift the weapon itself. Three years. Three years were what it took for Risteárd to build up enough strength to even be able to get it off of the ground for a second. Another three years, and he had it off enough to be able to wield it like a gun. Three more years, and he finally had it completely in his grasp, as if it were nothing but a toy. Livio congratulated Risteárd, placing a hand on his forehead and mumbling a few words. From then onwards, Risteárd would train to get the full potential out of his weapon.

Some time during this, he became enraptured with the idea of 'competition'. Everything became one, and he had the need to make sure he won every time. When he didn't win, he would train harder in order to win the next. This went on and on, and the years simply slipped by for Risteárd, who didn't even notice that his physical aging had halted. He simply continued to train, and soon became capable of feats that had most of his teachers amazed. However, it wasn't enough. He needed more. And the opportunity came with an opening at Karakura High School. Not sure why, but his intelligence and power got him rising up the ranks pretty quickly, even making Headmaster. Once at that position of power, the school changed... quite for the better.

And that's how it's been for the past 100 years. One Headmaster, and the school doesn't mind one bit.
