Utility Gauntlet

The Utility Gauntlet is worn on Edge's left arm, and is gold in color. It is made of Edge's special alloy Tibartanium, and provides a number of uses. The main use is its energy concentration ability. It allows Edge to gather tremendous amounts of energy into his left hand, and then launch the energy at enemies, giving access to both a beam-like cannon and a bomb-like cannon. The gauntlet also provides an energy shield should Edge be under attack by generating an energy-based shield or a physical shield that attaches to the gauntlet itself. With its shock-absorption technology and its power system, it can dish out a large amount of physical damage if need be. However, it also possesses an innate weakness to electricity-based attacks when its shield is not up.

P.W.G.S.

The P.W.G.S., or Proto-Weapon Generation System, is Edge’s main combat device. Its main function is its ability to transform into any type of weapon Edge requires or has a need for. This includes ranged-weapons. This means if he wants to, he can have it turn into a sword, a shield, a bow, even a rocket launcher or grenade launcher (it automatically generates ammunition which gives it practically unlimited ammo). While Edge is usually seen with it as a sword, he enjoys using it in its Magnum Mode, which is a form of a twin-barreled 40-calibur magnum somewhat resembling a sawed-off shotgun. If attacked, he can have it turn into a shield to protect him, and can even add things to it, such as a pistol or automatic rifle onto the shield. This gives him the advantage of being able to protect himself and go on the offensive as well.

It is made out of a semi-organic, self-replicating, super-cooling, nanobot-based material. Due to its sensor system, if it is in a shield form, millions of micro-sized “shields” increase their density and help protect the shield from damage when it is about to be struck. Also, its self-cooling feature allows it to rapidly fire for extended periods of time without worry of over-heating, increasing its overall fire power. This material is also super-light, being extremely light weight even when in the form of high-powered artillery. Created specifically for his own needs, he has added in the feature of energy-use. By funneling his own energy into the weapons power container, he can unleash attacks using his spiritual energy, adding both fire power and overall damage-output.

An added effect of being self-replicating means it can repair itself should parts of it be damaged or even destroyed. This is one of the crown jewels of Edge’s engineering and scientific career, and guards it with his life (the materials required to build it are not only extremely rare, but also extremely expensive, HOWEVER, he would make a replacement should anything happen to the original). When being carried around, the P.W.G.S is usually in the form of a blade inserted into the sheath on his back.

Defense Mode

One of its multiple forms is its Defense Mode, which, obviously, is used primarily for defense. When Edge activates this form, the hundreds of millions of nanobots increase their volume, which allows the armor to cover his entire body, and also increases their density four fold, severely increasing the armor’s overall defense, by crystallizing the nanobots. The increased weight also reduced blow-back from heavy-weapon usage, and also decreases knock-back from being hit by either an energy attack or physical attack, essentially turning him into a plated wall. However, because of the increased size and density of the armor, Edge is weighed down considerably and suffers from a considerable lack in speed. This form isn’t usually used for an extended period of time unless Edge is on the defensive and being backed into a corner.

Agility Mode

Another form used by the Maverick Self-Protection System is its Agility Mode. Just as it says, this form is used to increase Edge’s speed and overall agility, making it more strategic to use this mode against other speed-based fighters. By lowering the density of the nanobots, and thus lowering the overall weight of the armor, Edge is able to travel at much faster speeds than he normally could with the armor on. The nanobots also generate an anti-gravitational field around the armor, allowing it to defy gravity by decreasing its weight even farther and increasing Edge’s jump distances to much greater heights and lengths than normal. The nanobots also cover themselves with a non-abrasive, anti-friction, anti-stick, material that allows Edge to move in a considerably different way than normal. He can “slide” along the ground for extended distances, move through water much more easily than normal, decrease friction when being dragged or moved along abrasive surfaces, and makes it so some energy attacks (such as Cero or bomb-type Kidō) slide right off of Edge’s armor, meaning if he is hit by a Cero at a tilt or along his side, it will just keep going. This gives him an extra second or two to dodge an energy-based attack (note: does not prevent a Cero from doing damage if hit directly). Due to the armors lowered density, the Agility mode decreases Edge’s overall defenses and makes it easier for him to receive damage from physical weapons/attacks.

Offense-Physical Mode

The first of the two offensive-based forms is the Physical Mode. Again, just as it says, this form is based on the physical aspect of Edge, and the changes of this form are tuned to this. This form works by sending nanobots INTO Edge’s body. By surrounding Edge’s muscle tissue, the nanobots expand and also inject a temporary organic liquid into muscle tissue itself. This liquid is a type of “safe-to-use” steroid, and increases his overall muscle mass, making him much stronger. The liquid is self-generating, giving him a near-unlimited amount to use, though he can only increase the amount injected into his muscle tissue at one time, putting a cap on his muscle mass increase. While Edge calls the steroid safe-to-use, if injected into his system for too long, he will begin to feel the neuro-physiological and neuro-psychological side effects. First, his motor skills will begin to decrease and his reflexes will decrease as well. His vision will also begin to become blurry, as well as force him into an uncontrollable rage after a long period of time, until the system sensors shut down the armor system altogether.

Chameleon Mode

Know how chameleons utilize a form of camouflage to protect themselves from predators? Well, this form works in a similar way and for roughly the same purpose. This form works by having the nanobots cover themselves in ultra-powerful light reflectors that cause Edge to become virtually invisible. Any light that hits the armor is reflected in such a way that makes it so you can see directly through the armor and Edge’s body. It also helps camouflage other parts of Edge, such as his breathing. Not only does it slow down his breathing, but it also decreases the volume of his breathing and the movement of the armor as well (this includes the noises generated when the Edge interacts with outside forces/objects), by emitting an anti-sound wave field around the armor, making it near-impossible to hear anything Edge does (this does not include speech, if Edge wants to speak he can input a command into the visor to allow speech). Another effect of this mode is it gets rid of the “smell” of Edge and the armor (as well as anything he is holding, or whatever the nanobots cover), making it so creatures or people with an acute sense of smell still can’t locate Edge. The disadvantages of this mode aren’t necessarily bad, as they don’t matter much when the invisibility can last for a near-unlimited amount of time (Edge has only tested the form for 10 hours straight). The big downside is if the armor is hit by at least a small amount of energy or receives a certain amount of physical damage, the invisibility turns off to protect the nanobots from being damaged while in this mode. A pebble hitting the armor isn’t enough, as well as being hit by a very weak (or at least compared to Edge) enemy. This form isn’t usually used in direct combat and is instead used to stalk enemies.

Offense-Energy Mode

The last form programmed into the Maverick Self-Defense System is its second offensive-based mode. This form works in a similar way to its physical counterpart, but also in a rather different way as well. Instead of injecting nanobots into Edge’s system to connect to his muscle tissue, the nanobots become energy conduits and are sent into his body to connect to his spiritual pathways. By acting as conduits, the nanobots can not only send energy from his spiritual reserves directly to his armor for use, but can also act as transformers and multiply the total amount of energy being transmitted. Basically, it increases his spiritual energy by quite a bit, increasing his energy power. The nanobots also confer a better control of energy to Edge, so he can be more precise and skilled when using energy as well. Also, instead of using his energy for other purposes, he can actually concentrate the energy with the nanobots, able to use blasts of energy similar to Cero and Kidō, as well as use it for different purposes. The downside to this is, because a portion of the nanobots are not being used to increase his physical power or defense, he suffers in defense and his endurance decreases considerably, making it so he tires out more quickly and more easily than Edge normally would.

HJ001 Technical Visor
The HJ001 Technical Visor is located in the helmet of the active MSDS. It not only gives Edge access to complete control over the functions of the nanosuit, but also provides extra information such as possible strategic positions, current objectives, etc. The Technical Visor is synchronized to the armor, and provides information on every single nanobot (though reading all of that information at once would be impossible, so it mainly shows information regarding sections of the suit). The A.I. programmed into the visor is called Jeeves by Edge, and is programmed to call itself that as well. The AI provides easy voice-control over the suit for Edge. Other information the visor provides Edge is blood type of any given sample, height, weight, and energy levels, among other things, of both enemies and allies.

Coordinated Flight System (C.F.S)
The Coordinated Flight System, or C.F.S for short, is what gives Edge flight. This system is also located in his greaves when his M.S.D.S suit is not active, giving him flight when not in combat as well. Basically, it is caused by having the nanobots move at an extremely high rate, and generating an anti-gravitational field. The energy that is emitted from the feet of his armor appears to be a white-ish fire. Sometimes called "Booster Jets", they are built for prolonged flight and can keep him in the air for hours, as well as give allow him to travel at super-sonic speeds. The C.F.S doesnt usually suffer from any malfunctions, though if Edge receives enough damage, they won't be able to be used.

Nanobot-based Body Reconstruction:
In his final Evolution Stage, Edge gains a brand new ability like no other. Basically, with the energy he obtains in this form and the added control over his nanobots and his own body, he is able to use his nanobots to reconstruct his own body into almost anything imaginable. If he wants his right arm to turn into a gigantic sledge hammer, he can do that with his nanobots. This includes ranged weapons, as he uses his own energy for ammunition, and can create a rifle able to shoot Bala-level bullets at an automatic pace. This gives him many, many new options in combat, and also increases his overall effectiveness in battle.
