Ravana Ichiro [APPROVED 0-3+]
Sun Oct 09, 2011 4:18 pm
General
Name: Ravana Ichiro
Gender: Male
Age: Around 550, but only appears to be in his late 30’s
Note: Ex-Captain of Squad 3
Appearance
Height: 6’3”
Weight: 150lbs
Hair Color: Dark Brown
Eye Color: Yellow/Brown; sometimes changes to Blue
Overall Appearance:
Over the years since his time as Captain, Ravana has matured quite a bit, and his appearance reflects this personal growth. Of course, Ravana's main physical features are still present; his silver/gray hair, his green eyes, and his kind face. His hair, however, is now a bit longer, reaching down to the base of his neck; as well as the color being slightly duller. While his eyes still hold their almost glowing green color, they now seem to hold a sense of solemn thought and sadness; though they still hold the determination he is most known for. Unlike when he was younger, Ravana's facial features have become more weathered, and seem to hold an emotional weight behind them; almost as if every expression holds some sort of memory behind it. For his clothing, Ravana has gone back to wearing the version of the Shinigami uniform that he wore when he was a Captain, although it is now more worn and torn; having seen many battles. Overall, Ravana's appearance now holds that sense of personal growth that he has undergone, and he seems to emit a stronger sense of authority than when he was a Captain.Young, energetic, and friendly, Ravana’s appearance reflects a lot of his personality. One of his most distinctive features is that he almost always seems to be smiling; even when faced with great danger. Along with this, Ravana’s hair is also another one of his distinct features. Being a gray and ashy color it always seems to be a mess; most often giving him the appearance of just having woken up. This is one of the reasons why Ravana might be seen as having a “punkish” look; another main reason being the constant confidence that is seen in his facial expressions. Of course, this perception might also be due to his young appearance; as Ravana appears to be only around 18. Oddly enough, when put together, all of these features actually seem to make Ravana a more approachable person; something Ravana likes being a sociable person.
For his clothing, Ravana wears the standard Shinigami Shihakushō; although the sleeves are shorter than most, ending right above the middle of his forearms. He keeps his Zanpakutō held by the white sash used to hold together his Shihakushō. Although his Zanpakutō takes a very simple form while sealed, Ravana is actually rather fond of it. Despite the unassuming appearance of his Zanpakutō, Ravana still just has a look about him that makes him always seem 100% unique. When it comes to his Gigai, Ravana wears more casual clothes, really completing his “punkish” appearance. His Gigai’s outfit consists of a dark green hoodie, a pair of dark blue jeans, Vans skater shoes, and a graphic T-shirt with some type of logo or picture from or of one of his favorite bands (The one in his picture being of the Red Hot Chili Peppers). When in his Gigai, Ravana will also carry around a guitar for when he gets the urge to play a little tune.
Personality
Favorite Color: Green: healthy, good luck, renewal, youth, vigor, spring, generosity, and inexperience. These are some of the feelings embodied by the color green that work quite well in describing Ravana.
Likes:
Rock & Metal: Both his favorite genera’s of music; this trait actually goes far in describing Ravana. Ravana enjoys listening to Rock and Metal just as much as he enjoys playing it.
Friends: Despite his somewhat punkish appearance, Ravana is actually a very nice and sociable guy and loves to have a lot of friends. Ravana views friendship as one of the most important things in the world; as no matter what happens your true friends will always have your back.
Curry: Although Ravana likes most food in general, his favorite type of food is curry; mainly Thai and Indian styles. However, not only does he like to eat curry, Ravana also enjoys making curry; something he is actually quite good at.
Fighting/A Good Fight: Although not as “fight happy” as some members of Squad 11, Ravana does enjoy fighting or sparing against a good opponent. One part of this is because Ravana is quite competitive and loves to push himself to become stronger.
Dislikes:
Bugs: Although not afraid of them, Ravana strongly dislikes bugs. There really is no reason or event in his life to have caused this dislike; it’s just something he was born with.
Seeing Others Hurt: Although he will get a laugh out of someone, say, slipping and falling on a banana peel, Ravana generally hates to see others get hurt; especially his friends. It is even worse when there was something he could have done to prevent them from being hurt, or at least when he thinks there was a way.
Losing Friends: Being a friendly person and valuing the bonds of friendship, Ravana hates to lose a friend. Now, this not only applies to, say, when a friend dies, but also when a person whom he considers a friend breaks that bond between them. Because of this, Ravana actually dislikes traitors; because they have broken the bonds of trust that they held with others.
Rap & Country Music: Ravana dislikes the genera’s of Rap and Country. Of course, it’s not as if he hates them; they just aren’t in line with his interests. Despite this, Ravana is actually quite open when it comes to music; willing to listen to anything at least once.
Habits and Flaws:
Overly Trusting: Because he is a friendly person, Ravana has a bad habit of being overly trusting in people. While this might not be a bad thing in itself, it may have implications further on down the road.
Competitive: Although he is a very nice person, Ravana does have a competitive nature; especially when it comes to fighting. His competitive nature is not born out of a feeling of superiority, but from the desire to better himself. Of course, he can still come off as arrogant because of this, even though he is not trying to be.
Fears:
Now that he has grown more mature, Ravana has found that, through all the events he has been through, there is something that he truly fears. Deep down, and even a bit on the surface, Ravana fears failing all those he cares for again. Through this fear, however, Ravana has found the strength of will to push himself further, and works as hard as he can so that his fear will not come true.Because of his own personal beliefs about life, Ravana actually finds it hard to say that he really fears anything. Now, this is not to say that he is fearless, as he will still react to the natural instinct fears that everyone has, but that he really doesn’t have any unreasonably born fears; or phobias. Because of this, even though he is young (for a Shinigami), Ravana has a much easier time in facing his fears and overcoming them.
Overall Personality:
Having fought and lead for many years, Ravana's personality has undergone a slight change as he has matured. While he still holds his same beliefs and motivations, he is now a calmer person; much less prone to outbursts of emotion as when he was younger. While still a kind person, his actions and words seem to hold more thought and weight behind them than they previously did; almost as if he has experienced enough in life to prepare him for most all situations. Along with this maturity, Ravana has also learned to accept defeat; not to be disheartened by it, but to learn from it and better himself. His fighting style has also been improved over the years, as he is no longer as reckless in combat; tending to show much more thought and experience when fighting. While he may still be one of the first into battle, he is not so much fighting to prove anything about himself, but as to protect those he cares about and avoid unnecessary bloodshed. While his actions still hold that same determination behind them, they also hold more thought and maturity as well. Overall, Ravana has taken the time to learn form his life, both his successes and failures, and has come out a better and more mature man; ready to face the challenges that life should throw at him.The best way to describe Ravana’s personality is similar to that of a puppies. Always friendly and energetic, he is generally a fun person to be around; although he can be somewhat competitive at times. He seems to rush into things head first, more focused on his goals than what it might take to achieve them. Although this may end up getting him into trouble in some cases, it gives him a sense of optimism and courage that others may find encouraging. Of course, his carefree and energetic personality can also be seen as annoying to some of the more serious types. Then again, even if you might find him annoying; it is really hard to actually hate Ravana. Because of this, even people who were originally annoyed by his personality might become his friends over time.
When it comes to fighting, Ravana still acts slightly reckless; often jumping into battle before fully analyzing the situation. Although this can sometimes catch an opponent off guard, it will more often than not get Ravana into some troublesome situations. However, because of his natural optimism and determination, Ravana will never give up in a fight and can even end up overwhelming his opponent by his determination. He also seems to be concerned for his allies and any innocent people when he fights, and will protect them if they are attacked by an opponent. Because of all of this, he actually hates it when someone else comes to save him; whether or not he actually needed saving. Although he prefers to fight 1-on-1 he doesn’t mind fighting in pairs as long as each side is equally matched. Despite his carefree and reckless nature when fighting, Ravana is actually quite intelligent; an example of this being how well he can fight with the unconventional form his Zanpakutō takes.
There is, however, one area in which Ravana seems to lack his trademark confidence; girls. When it comes to girls Ravana is completely clueless, something that is quite easy to notice. Now, this is not to say that he has no female friends, but when he is around a girl that he finds attractive and likes, he actually becomes more of a shy person. This is actually quite funny when compared to his normal personality, and will often earn him jokes from both the girls and his friends. Luckily for him, it is actually quite hard to actually embarrass him; and even when he does get embarrassed he is quick to recover. Because of this Ravana can usually laugh at himself; a very important thing to be able to do actually.
Because Ravana is still young (at least for a Shinigami), there is much for him to learn; both about the world and about himself. Because of this, his personality may change overtime depending on his personal experiences. Of course, Ravana’s personality will also determine how he views events and how they unfold; so he will always be the same person. In the end, he is a strong, if sometimes reckless and carefree person; able to push himself and others to their full potential.
Although Ravana still blames himself for what happened during the war with Aizen, he has made great strides in moving past that guilt, and focuses his energy on making sure he never fails those who trust him again. Because he now serves as the Colonel of the Vizard Corps’ Special Operations sector, Ravana is once again held to the same standards as when he served as a Captain. Of course, he prefers this, and is able to find a feeling of satisfaction from what he does; confident that in the end it helps others. However, Ravana has fallen back into one of his old habits from his days as a Captain, in that he once again tends to overwork himself. Then again, this is really more of a testament to his determination, as he has vowed to not allow himself to fail again. This doesn’t mean that he expects to win every battle, but he will never again sit by helplessly while others fight instead of him. Along with his personal development in more professional matters, Ravana has also grown stronger emotionally; more able to understand his own feelings. However, with this, Ravana has developed certain…feelings for a particular woman that he has yet to even realize himself. While he may not know it now, his true feelings will most definitely become clearer to him over time.
Zanpakutō
Zanpakutō Name: 幾千切れ目 Iku-sen Kireme (lit. Thousand Cuts)Inner World: Unknown
Zanpakutō Spirit:
Ravana’s Zanpakutō spirit, Iku-sen Kireme takes on the form of a minor goddess of fate. She is tall with pale skin, black hair, and is clothed in an elegant, black dress that leaves her stomach and some of her torso revealed. She also has a pair of skeletal wings that show her status as a goddess of fate. In the end, Iku-sen Kireme’s appearance is quite different from Ravana’s own. Although Iku-sen Kireme can be slightly arrogant, she seems to mirror some of the same qualities of Ravana’s personality; though she takes on more of a “motherly” role.
Sealed Zanpakutō: In its sealed state, Iku-sen Kireme takes the form of a simple katana with a circular, gold guard. The hilt is covered by a black wrap, and the sheath is also black. As for size, it is the standard size of a katana.
Release Phrase: “Strike them all down, Iku-sen Kireme!”
Shikai Appearance:
Unlike other Zanpakutō’s, the changes in Ravana’s Shikai are very subtle. In fact, the only thing that changes is the length of the blade and the guard. In Shikai, the guard is now much more intricate, having an actual design etched into it. Other than this, there are no visible changes for his Shikai; allowing for him to surprise his opponent once they see its powers.
Shikai Abilities: Although Ravana’s Shikai takes on a very simple form, the powers of Iku-sen Kireme in Shikai are anything but. As a minor goddess of fate, Iku-sen Kireme has the power to manipulate space to a certain extent. However, because her powers are so great, they are severely limited in the Shikai state. This means that her powers only extend to the sword itself. Using this power of manipulating space, Iku-sen Kireme makes it possible for Ravana’s sword to literally occupy multiple different locations in space, allowing him to attack with multiple strikes. To do this, Iku-sen Kireme literally makes it so that X areas in space are replaced by the exact space that Ravana’s sword occupies. With that said the sword will still attack in the same manner as Ravana himself; meaning that if Ravana were to slash at his opponent vertically, all of the other blades would slash vertically. However, even if you do block Ravana’s own sword, the other swords will still carry out their attacks; as there was no opposite force to stop them. The only practical way to stop all of the blades is to either block with a barrier that surrounds you, or to stop Ravana’s held Zanpakutō before the arc of its slash. After attacking, the swords will disappear until Ravana attacks again.
As suggested by her name, which means “Thousand Cuts”; Iku-sen Kireme makes the sword appear in multiples of one thousand. This means that X (the number of areas in space changed to have Ravana’s sword) will equal one of four different multiples of one thousand. These four multiples are each a different stage of Iku-sen Kireme’s powers, and are released in order from least to greatest. These stages are: 十 “Jū” (ten), 二十 “Ni jū” (twenty), 五十 “Go jū” (fifty), and 百 “Hyaku” (one hundred). Each of these stages relates to how many spaces the blade is made to occupy, and by swinging his sword Y amount of times (one hundred times in Jū and ten times in Hyaku, for example), Ravana can literally cut his opponent a thousand times.
Techniques:
Spatial Break: A rather interesting ability granted Ravana in his Shikai, “Spatial Break” is an interesting utility move that takes full advantage of Iku-sen Kireme’s spatial manipulation. To use this ability, Ravana must actually strike his opponent with his Zanpakutō, and not any of its other slashes but his main, held Zanpakutō itself. While this may sound a little odd, as all of the slashes are Ravana’s actual held Zanpakutō, because this ability is being powered by Iku-sen Kireme, the difference can be known to her. So, once this ability is actually activated and an opponent is hit by Ravana’s Zanpakutō, its true usage is revealed; for the next one to two seconds, the opponent will have the space that they occupy be “broken”, meaning that they are unable to actually move out of it. To put it simply, for the next few seconds, while the opponent is fully and cognitively aware, they cannot actually move out of the space that they are currently occupying; not even with a movement ability. While this ability may only last for a short amount of time, it can almost always guarantee Ravana a “free hit” on his next attack; so long as he actually takes advantage of the short window of time. This ability can only be used once per post, and only a successful hit will trigger it; it does not take effect if the attack is blocked.
ブロック Burokku (lit. Block): One of Iku-sen Kireme’s simplest techniques, its purpose is exactly what its name implies; to block. To activate this technique, Ravana simply holds his Zanpakutō up in front of himself and says the name of the technique. Depending on which stage he’s in, he will either summon 10, 20, 50, or 100 blades to block an attack. Although it is somewhat hard to use this technique to block close-range attacks, it is perfect for blocking long-range and energy based attacks.
Reality Crush: One of Ravana’s Shikai techniques, “Reality Crush” is the only one of his Shikai abilities that is able to access Iku-sen Kireme’s reality aspect. As such, this ability is not as powerful as any of his Bankai attacks, but is a very useful utility move in his arsenal. The actual effect of this ability is rather simple; Ravana will effectively “crush” a small portion of reality to harm anything within the target range. Though this would technically fall under the classification of “reality modification”, the actual modification is not applied upon the opponent; but instead upon the space that they occupy. To put it simply, Ravana will make the space which his opponent is occupying harmful to them; essentially forcing the space to attack his opponent. The actual strength of this ability all depends on the concentration of spiritual energy of any kind within the space he is modifying reality, and not upon an opponent’s strength or how much energy Ravana puts into this move. While this does make the power of this move difficult to gauge, the simplicity of the actual ability makes it very useful even if it would not cause too much damage, as it would still work to deter an opponent. Of course, should he wish to make the move slightly stronger, there is one trick that Ravana can employ. Before activating this ability, Ravana can first fire off a kido spell at the opponent; either Hadō or bakudo will do. Should he chose to do this, the actual energy of the kido spell will be added onto the energy of the area in which he is using Reality Crush, causing the ability to be significantly stronger. Of course, seeing as the energy from the kido is added to Reality Crush, the actual kido spell disappears as soon as this ability is used. Similarly, Ravana can also use the energy of any other energy attack to help strengthen Reality Crush, though it will have the same effect of getting rid of said energy attack (even if it is an opponent’s). However, while this can be an easy method in theory, because the actual range of Reality Crush is pretty limited (being able to only hit one opponent per usage) any energy attack used to power it up must be very close to the target already. To use this ability, Ravana simply must raise one of his hands (usually his left as he predominately wields his Zanpakutō with his right) and call out the name of the ability. Though the ability is not very draining on its own, because it is affecting reality, it can only be used once per post with a one post cooldown.
千刃の雨 Sen ha no ame (lit. Rain of a Thousand Blades): Ravana’s finishing attack in Shikai, it is only useable in the Hyaku stage. By holding his sword in front of himself pointed down at the ground, Ravana says the name of this technique to activate it. After saying the techniques name, Ravana drops his sword; only to have it disappear. With that, Iku-sen Kireme covers the sky above the opponent with one thousand of Ravana’s Shikai blade, duplicating the space that the blade occupies a thousand times. As each one is still technically his Shikai, each and every sword can cause quite a bit of damage. By falling from the sky, they also gain momentum, further increasing their potential damage. After the swords fall, they disappear and Ravana’s original Shikai sword appears back in his hand.
Bankai Name: 歪みの幾千切れ目 Yugami no Iku-sen Kireme (lit. Thousand Cut Distortion)
Bankai Appearance:
Although Ravana’s Zanpakutō does finally make a significant change in appearance for its Bankai, it is still relatively simple. Because of its small size and relative simplicity, Ravana gains a much larger boost in strength and speed, as well as duration of his Bankai than others who have much larger and more extravagant Bankai’s.
Bankai Abilities: Following along with the powers of spatial manipulation, Yugami no Iku-sen Kireme’s powers are truly astounding. For starters, Ravana can now control how each and every blade attacks; their direction now being decided after being made in a different area of space. Along with this, he is also already in Hyaku when he enters Bankai. The newest power of Iku-sen Kireme, however, is the most devestating; named Battle Teleportation. By utilizing the maximum amount of Iku-sen Kireme’s powers that he is allowed to, Ravana can actively manipulate space in three distinct ways that can only be described as “Instant Teleportation”. The Battle Teleportation skill is split up into three different techniques; Movement, Displacement, and Attack.
Bankai Techniques: In Bankai, Ravana has access to all of his techniques from Shikai.
Battle Teleportation-Movement: Probably the most basic method of using Battle Teleportation, Movement allows for Ravana to instantly teleport to another empty space. Empty space does include water.Because this teleportation is instant, it is faster than Shunpo, and Ravana cannot be damaged while teleporting. This ability is not only useful for suprising an opponent with the instant movement, but also for dodging attacks in the blink of an eye. After using this ability, there is a two post cool down before Ravana can use it again.
Battle Teleportation-Displacement: The second way way Ravana an use Battle Teleportation, Displacement is actually pretty self explainatory. By using the spacial manipulation, Ravana can move an opponents attack that is just about to hit him right behind himself. As one can guess, there is a limit on what kinds of attacks this can be used on, as area of effect attacks would still harm him. This technique can also only be used to displace one attack per post. While it does have its limits, it is perfect for displacing long range attacks such as cero’s or quincy’s arrows. After activation, there is a one post cool down before Ravana can use it again (aka. my second post after activation). While this is not too draining for normal attacks, it does take more energy to teleport the truly powerful attacks, such as Gran Rey Cero's.
Battle Teleportation-Attack: The final method of use for for Ravana’s Battle Teleportation, Attack is probably the most useful for catching an opponent off guard. After casting a Kidō spell or firing a cero, Ravana can then teleport the attack directly next to (or in front or behind). Doing this cuts down the travle time of his attacks, and can allow for nearly 90% accurate cero’s and Kidō spells. This ability can only be used once per post, and it has a one post cool down. Because there is distance involved, the further Ravana has to teleport the attack, the more draining it will be.
この領域の神 Kono Ryōiki no Kami (lit. god of this area): A special, area ability available to Ravana in Bankai. It's name does quite a good job of painting a picture for the abilities effect; Ravana is able to control the space around himself up to five yards. Now, this basically works out by allowing Ravana to manipulate the space around anyone or anything that enters that five yard radius. When applied practically, however, it has one main use. Once anything moves into that radius, Ravana is able to copy the space behind them, that they already traveled through, and place it in front of them. By doing this, he can create an endless loop of space that the opponent, object, or attack is traveling through; making it impossible to actually reach Ravana. The speed of the loop can be adjusted to fit the speed of anything traveling through it, so there is no way to "outrun" it. Unlike other abilities, this one does not require any incantation or for Ravana to say its name; all he has to do is concentrate to use it. This ability can be used once per post, every three posts. Once he moves away to dodge the enemy or attack caught in the loop, and they are no longer in the five yard radius, they will be released from the loop, and be traveling at the exact same velocity as when in the loop. While this ability normally has no other side effects, if the opponent trapped in the loop used an ability like shunpo or sonido, they are hit with a slightly different effect when released from the loop. Because of the nature of those moves, the person caught in the loop will feel as if they are standing still, and their view will appear as if they are frozen in time. This is not some extra ability, but simply because of the way it traps the opponent in the loop. when they are released from the loop, they will still be moving at the "shunpo speed", but because they wnet from seeming to be still to moving at amazing speeds, their body and brain will not have enough time to realize that change, and they will feel as if they are literally being thrown out at that speed. With this, the opponent will lose control of their movement technique used, and will go flying until they can stop themselves or collide with an object. This also leaves them disoriented.
Final Stage-二百 Ni Hyaku (200): In Bankai, Ravana gains access to one final "stage" for his powers, Ni Hyaku. In this stage, Iku-sen Kireme can now allow Ravana's blade to exist in 200 different areas of space at the same time. This doubles the lethality of his Bankai, and makes Ravana one fearsome opponent to face. However, Ravana cannot use Ni Hyaku right after releasing his Bankai. He must wait at least 3 posts from activating Bankai to use Ni Hyaku. Because Ni Hyaku is so powerful, Ravana can only use this stage for a limited amount of time. 5 of my posts after activation, the stage will end, and there will be a 3 post cool down period.
Spatial Addition-The Fourth Physical Dimension: Another one of Ravana’s “final” abilities granted to him in Bankai, “Spatial Addition-The Fourth Physical Dimension” is the full accumulation of his Spatial Manipulation powers. Essentially, for this ability, his power is elevated to a level where not only can he effect the space, he can now actually affect the Spatial Dimensions themselves. Though not entirely perfect, what this ability does is essentially allow Ravana to add a fourth, new dimension of space to the current three dimensional model of space. While this may not seem like much, take a moment to fully consider what this means. In our current universe, there are three physical dimensions; length, width, and height. Because we can view and measure these three dimensions, we are able to determine distance; the amount of space between two or more objects. However, if there were to be a fourth physical dimension added on top of our current three, what would the effect be? To put it in simple terms, when one is trying to determine any sort of distance, there would be a fourth physical dimension that they would have to be able to measure. What this ability does is add in that fourth dimension, but in a way that it is directly intertwined with the current three existing physical dimensions. Now, what makes this ability truly special is that only Ravana himself knows of the existence of this fourth physical dimension and is the only one able to measure it. What this translates to, is that for everyone other than Ravana, there is a fourth physical measurement that will affect their perception of the physical dimensions and distance that they cannot actually see or measure. Because of this, it is actually physically impossible to accurately know where they are in relation to what is around them, or where their attacks will land. However, because they cannot measure this fourth physical dimension, the world around anyone other than Ravana will appear exactly how it did before the addition of the fourth physical dimension. So, to use an example, say that an opponent was to attempt to slash Ravana while this ability was in effect. Normally, they would know where to be and how far to move to hit Ravana because they can physically see these distances. Under this ability, however, every calculation they make (these calculations are subconscious and done by everyone) will be incorrect. Depending on how Ravana has set up this fourth physical dimension, all of the opponents attacks will either fall short of hitting him, or be too far off to damage him any. Of course, not only does this affect the physical sight of the physical dimensions, but even if the opponent were to try and sense Ravana’s spiritual pressure, their reading would be off by the exact same difference as their ability to see him. This is done because the opponents perception of where they, Ravana, and everything else around them in space is fundamentally flawed because they cannot measure this fourth physical dimension. So essentially, unless it’s by sheer dumb luck, or a wide-area of effect attack, it is impossible to accurately hit Ravana while this ability is in effect. Of course, as stated above, this ability is not perfect. Because of what is known as “Randomized Probability”, there is a chance that the opponents attack will actually hit where they intended it to. To work this into roleplaying terms, because of “Randomized Probability”, each of the opponent’s fourth attacks will actually be on target. Now, this does not mean that it is a guaranteed hit, as Ravana himself can still block or dodge, but it does have the potential to hit. So, with this drawback, the overall effect if this ability is simply to reduce the chances of Ravana being hit to ¼ of his original chances.
Reality Bomb: Ravana's final and strongest attack, Reality Bomb is truly an attack to be feared. While the conventional guess at its effect may be that it "erases reality", this is not it's function. Instead, Reality Bomb actually uses the force of reality, existence itself, to fuel the attack. The attack itself only encompasses a 20 meter diameter, but that is all it needs. Once the diameter is set, anything that exists will have it's full force used against itself in an explosion of power. For example, if Radioactive were caught in the diameter, he would be hit by an explosion that is exactly as strong as he was when caught in the diameter. Now, this does not mean that the opponent is hit with their own strength, but, by taking the "reality" of their strength, as well as anything else within the 20 meter radius, it becomes as strong as they exist. This is how it hits the opponent with a blast of their entire power, not because they get hit with their own power. Because of this, the attack is quite devastating, and it does not matter how much stronger an opponent may be than Ravana, because they are quite literally being hit with their own power. However, because the attack is so powerful, it does take a toll on Ravana's body, and it has a 5 post cool down period after use.
A Frozen Reality-Selective Distortion: A sort of secondary path taken by Ravana’s Bankai ability to manipulate reality, “A Frozen Reality-Selective Distortion” can be seen in some ways as his “true final technique”. Though not a true “active ability”, considering its effect, “A Frozen Reality” is probably Ravana’s strongest and one of his most useful abilities. Unlike the other abilities and techniques granted to Ravana through his Zanpakutō whose full powers are withheld from him, “A Frozen Reality” has a limited form of full access to Iku-sen Kireme’s powers; thanks to how the ability works. For starters, “A Frozen Reality” has probably the most unique effect among all of Ravana’s powers in terms of visual/noticeable effects; the ability to fully negate one select power/ability per opponent. Of course, while the effect itself is rather remarkable, how this ability works is even more so. Instead of simply negating the selected ability itself, “A frozen Reality” actually negates the reality, or existence of the chosen power/ability. Because of this, not only is the power/ability itself negated, but the lingering effects of the power/ability (excluding damage dealt) is negated. For example, were an opponent to use an ability to poison Ravana, by using “A Frozen Reality”, not only would they no longer be able to use that ability, but the effects of the poison, being derived from the ability, are also negated. Of course, there are a few catches to this ability; as an unrestrained usage would be more than his body could handle. The first of these catches, or drawbacks, as stated above, is that he can only negate the existence of one power/ability per target. The second is more defining of the relationship between Ravana and Iku-sen Kireme, and is a key factor to how Ravana actually uses “A Frozen Reality”. Simply put, for Ravana to actually negate the existence of the selected power/ability, he must have either experienced said power/ability first hand or have been told in detail (mainly the name of the technique and what it does) about the power/ability. Because of this, unless it is an opponent with an infamous ability (like Kin’s Burning Star or Gilgamesh’s Gates of Babylon), the ability Ravana wants to negate must have been used either on him or in front of him. The reason for this is simply because this ability is actually used by Iku-sen Kireme herself. While completely unbridled (as a note, this would never happen ever) Iku-sen Kireme could probably negate all of a person’s powers, she has to work within the confines of what Ravana’s body is actually able to handle. As for the range of this ability, “A Frozen Reality” will affect the opponent so long as they are in range of being able to use the ability that is being negated, and lasts so long as Ravana is in Bankai. So, once Ravana exits Bankai, the selected power of each target is un-negated; essentially being brought back into reality. While he does have to select the ability to negate every time he uses “A Frozen Reality”, once he has seen or knows about the power/ability he can select it again to be negated. To sum it up, “A Frozen Reality-Selective Distortion” is Ravana’s “ace in the hole”, allowing for him to negate the one ability of his opponent’s that is giving him the most trouble. Of course, being his “ace in the hole”, Ravana does not use this ability unless he really needs to; or occasionally protect an ally if they are in great danger.
Extra Abilities: Though granted through Iku-sen Kireme, Ravana does have a small set of "passive abilities" that are constantly active, even in his sealed state. That said, Ravana himself cannot actually "use" them, but they are more like benefits to having Iku-sen Kireme as his Zanpakutō's spirit. The base of these "passive abilities" is, as stated before, that Ravana will never be able to access all 100% of Iku-sen Kireme's full powers; because using their full extent is more than his body could handle. This, however, means that Iku-sen Kireme has more to offer Ravana, and this "untapped power" arrives in the form of these few "passive abilities". While not much, and not giving him an actual "edge" against his opponent, these few "passive abilities" can come in quite handy depending on the situation.
Heroic Determination: Though this may not seem like much of an "ability", Ravana's "determination" goes beyond simple "strength of mind". What makes this ability so special is that it allows for this determination to have more "physical" effects on Ravana. This happens in two distinct ways. The first is that, even when he's been beaten down, even when he should be at deaths door; Ravana is able to push on for a bit more once he's passed his breaking point. Along with this, his "will to live" also gives him a temporary boost to his strength; though usually only for a couple of minutes. While this may be a "life saver" against equal opponents who have gotten Ravana to this stage, once the power gap begins to rise, the effectiveness drops. Eventually, it can get to a point where the only effective use of this short burst is to run for his life. The second ability, though granted through Iku-sen Kireme, has also been influenced by Ravana's past. Basically, the second portion of this "passive ability" allows Ravana to literally stand up to enemies and stand beside allies with much higher reiatsu levels. When put into practice, this means that Ravana is still able to fight at his full capacity when around or facing persons with much higher levels of reiatsu than himself. That being said, this does not "bridge" any gaps in the differences; it merely allows for Ravana to be unhampered by oppressive reiatsu. In the end, this "passive ability" from Iku-sen Kireme makes use of Ravana's high determination. Of course, it can also be said that this is also a sign of Ravana being ignorant, or that he's not smart enough to know when to call it quits; then again, these people are often pessimistic and give little credit to one's strength of will.
Existence Clause: Probably one of Iku-sen Kireme's oddest abilities, passive or not; "Existence Clause" is, well, exactly what it sounds like. Basically, because Iku-sen Kireme herself is a minor "goddess of fate", Ravana is privy to a few benefits of her being one with his soul. In practice, this ability does act as more of a clause to other powers. What this clause inserts is that "so long as he is alive and still connected to Iku-sen Kireme, Ravana must exist." So, basically, Ravana is unaffected by any ability that would cease or severely distort his existence. This being said, Ravana is still effected by "reality-based" powers when their goal is not to disrupt his existence. Of course, because it is only useful under very specific circumstances, this ability is usually unused.
The Hollow Within
Hollow Mask:
Hollow Powers:
Hollow Mask: Because he has had much intense training, Ravana is able to maintain his hollow mask for a number of hours, long enough to last for at least 1 or 2 serious battles, although he may remove it intermittently.
Cero:
Ravana’s cero attack is Silver in color with slight hints of crimson and is fired from the palm of his hand. Unlike other ceros, Ravana can charge his cero longer to have its actual attack last longer; like a laser beam. Along with this, he can move his arm to move the continuous cero beam to cut through solid objects or chase an escaping foe. The duration of the beam is dependent on how much reiatsu Ravana charges.A form of attack used by Menos, Arrancar and Vizard. As a standard energy blast, it consists of firing a powerful blast of concentrated spiritual energy at the target. While in most cases it is fired from the mouth, some Arrancar and Vizard are capable of firing Cero from their hands, fingers and other parts of their bodies. The power, force, speed, and blast area of the Cero is dependent on the strength of the user (i.e., the stronger the user, the stronger the attack), and there are some Arrancar and Vizard who have come up with their own variation of Cero. The charging and firing time for Cero also varies greatly, from relatively charging fast to firing it to instantaneously fire one without much charging.
Power and Speed Augmentation: While wearing his hollow mask, Ravana's strength and speed are increased.
Resurrección: Iku-sen Kireme: Mil Pesadillas (lit. Iku-sen Kireme=Thousand Cuts [Japanese]; Mil Pesadillas=Thousand Nightmares [Spanish])
Resurrección Appearance:
Resurrección Abilities:
After having trained with his Resurrección for a few years, Ravana has become much more adept at using it, as well as unlocking its "true" powers. These "true" powers are "hollowfied" versions of his Shikai and Bankai techniques, though they have become much more savage and are more "torture" themed. Because of this, however, Ravana is unable to to use his Shikai and Bankai techniques while in his Resurrección. Other than the basic concept of his powers, each of his slashes "creating" one hundred more slashes (his Bankai's base ability), Final Stage-二百 Ni Hyaku, Spatial Addition-The Fourth Physical Dimension, and A Frozen Reality-Selective Distortion; Ravana's techniques are replaced by these "hollowfied" ones for as long as he remains in his Resurrección. Of course, his Resurrección still retains the effect of greatly increasing all of his battle parameters (i.e. strength, speed, ect). Finally, because his is more adept at using his Resurrección, he can now maintain it for longer; though he will still revert back at the end of a battle. Along with these "new" techniques, Ravana's three "Battle Teleportation" abilities from Bankai are also "hollowfied", and instead become the "Torture Teleportation" abilities.Because he is still experienced at using his Resurrección, he can only use it for about half of a serious battle. In this form, however, all of his attacks are vastly more powerful than even in his Bankai, and because of his increased power, each of his attacks takes less out of him. Ravana also receives a large boost to his speed. Finally, Ravana receives a new type of Cero for use only in this form.
Resurrección Techniques:
Ataúd de Espadas (lit. Coffin of Swords in Spanish): The first of Ravana's "hollowfied" techniques, Ataúd de Espadas is described quite well by its name. To use this technique, Ravana must first say it's name, as well as store some reiatsu in his Zanpakutō (still in Bankai) for preparation. To actually activate it, Ravana must stab his opponent with his Zanpakutō. Upon a successful hit, before the opponent has any time to react, his Bankai will appear one thousand more times in space, surrounding the opponent before they all stab into them at the same time. After they all stab into the opponent, all extra thousand blades will disappear. While this technique has the potential to cause severe damage, if the original stab does not hit the opponent, then the rest of the attack will not happen. Because it attacks the entire body, this technique can cause sever pain; and even opponents who can "ignore" pain during battle have a chance of being phased by the the attack. Also, once the blades disappear, the opponent is subject to continued "bleeding" damage, sapping their strength over time if they cannot heal themselves (like a battle healing Kidō) or are able to hold back the blood. This technique can only be used once per post, and after a successful hit, there is a 2 post cool down.
El Arrepentimiento Forzado (lit. Forced Repentance in Spanish): The second "hollowfied" technique available in his Resurrección, El Arrepentimiento Forzado is seemingly more "refined" than his other skills; though just as savage. For starters, this technique is split into two parts. To use this technique, Ravana must first say its name; which will summon his Bankai four more times in space (making five in total if you count the one in his hand) around himself. For the first part of this technique, Ravana will fire off the four Bankais; directing them to stab into each the opponents right arm, left arm, right leg, and left leg. If hit by this, the opponent will be pinned in place by the sword, immobilizing them. While it only takes one sword hit to immobilize the opponent, the second part of the technique is more effective if both of the opponent's arms are hit and pinned in place; it's maximum effectiveness reached if all four limbs are pinned in place. For the second part of this technique, Ravana will use Sonido (since his is in his Resurrección) to appear directly in front of his opponent. Raising his left arm, Ravana will charge a cero before literally slamming it into the immobilized opponent; causing a massive explosion. Not only does this attack have an extremely high damage potential, but if the opponent is hit by even 1/4 of the first part, then the second part is a direct hit. Of course, if the first part misses completely, then the second part will not happen. Also, if only the opponent's legs are pinned in place, or if only one of their arms is pinned, the opponent will be able to use their arms or weapon to shield themselves, lessening the damage slightly. After the opponent has the cero slammed into them, the swords that are pinning them down will disappear; and the opponent will usually fall to the ground. This technique can only be used once per post, and after a successful hit, there is a 3 post cool down.
Persecución (lit. Persecution in Spanish): The third "hollowfied" technique available in his Resurrección, Persecución has more of an "area effect". For starters, to use this technique, Ravana holds his Bankai so that the blade is pointed at the ground, then releases it, only to have it dissolve in midair; much like for Sen ha no ame. So long as this technique is active, instead of having to slash slash his Zanpakutō himself, the slashes will "appear" themselves with no action needed from Ravana. Also, while using this ability, Iku-sen Kireme "makes" 200 slashes at once instead of 100, like Ni Hyaku. Of course, because he no longer actually has his Bankai to fight with while using this technique, Ravana cannot use the first two "hollowfied" techniques while it is active. As for the frequency, the 200 slashes will be "made" anywhere between .05-1 second of each other; changing ever so slightly each time so that it is impossible for the opponent to know exactly when the next barrage will come. Of course, when compared to Ravana actually slashing, there is one difference for Persecución; in that all 200 slashes are not necessarily aimed at the opponent. While active, at least one of the slashes will always be targeted directly at the opponents location at the time the slash was "created". As for the rest, they are used to make a sort of "minefield" for the opponent, making it difficult to dodge without getting hit by at least one of the other 199 slashes. While this may generally be seen as less effective than Ravana controlling the placement of every slash by doing the original slash itself, this ability is good for opponents who can dodge being surrounded by basically widening the area of effect. Also, while using this technique, Ravana himself is still free to engage the opponent in hand-to-hand combat or use long range attacks like a cero or Kidō while the slashes are happening.
Torture Teleportation-Movimiento Forzado (lit. Forced Movement in Spanish): The first of Ravana's three "Torture Teleportation" abilities, Movimiento Forzado is the "hollowfied" version of "Movement". Now, however, this ability has "evolved" to become a sort of "reversed" version of the original; now used more to attack the opponent. While it still works by moving a body from one point in space to another empty point in space, Movimiento Forzado moves the opponent, not Ravana. This ability had a 5 kilometer radius of effect, and is perfect for either ruining an opponents attack or to move them directly into one of his own. Because this movement is instantaneous, the opponent will only notice that it has been used once they see their new surroundings. Of course, because it has to be empty space, Ravana cannot move his opponent directly into one of his attacks; only in the path of one. This ability can only be used once per post, and has a 2 post cool down.
Torture Teleportation-Reubicación (lit. Relocation in Spanish): The second of the "Torture Teleportation" abilities, Reubicación is the "hollowfied" version of "Displacement". This "evolution" takes the mainly evasive "Displacement" and turns it into both an evasive ability and an attack. While the basic concept is the same, connecting two points in space so that an attack literally "goes around" Ravana without hurting him, with Reubicación, the second point in space for this connection is now an area closer to the opponent; as well as aimed at them. If the opponent is not expecting this, it will almost assuredly catch them off guard; though it is most effective when used against racial attacks such as Kidō or ceros. This ability can only be used once per post, every other post.
Torture Teleportation-Asalto Multiplicado (lit. Multiplied Assault in Spanish): The third and final of the "Torture Teleportation" abilities, Asalto Multiplicado is the "hollowfied" version of "Attack". Unlike the other two "evolved" abilities, Asalto Multiplicado is more of a different ability than an "evolved" one. Basically, where "Attack" allowed for Ravana to instantly move any Kidō or cero he fired directly to the opponent, Asalto Multiplicado takes a more "powered" approach, and uses the same ability used on Ravana's Zanpakutō to make his Kidō or cero appear ten more times in space; making a total of eleven. What happens next is obvious, Ravana will fire all eleven Kidō spells or ceros at his opponent. The benefits of this ability should also be obvious, for the same cost and preparation time as one cero or Kidō spell, Ravana can actually fire off a total of eleven. This ability can only be used once per post.
Reality Implosion: The final "hollowfied" technique Ravana has in his Resurrección, Reality Implosion is, if you couldn't guess, the full "hollowfied evolution" of Reality Bomb. While the concept behind this attack remains the same, Reality Implosion's actual damage is delivered differently; making it more potent and powerful. While Reality Implosion still has a 20 meter damage radius, instead of just using the "force of reality", it condenses all of the "force of reality" in that area into a more volatile and powerful "form". Once this compression reaches a critical point (in about one second), it becomes so unstable that the "force of reality" within the radius literally implodes upon itself, causing a truly massive amount of damage; even more than Reality Bomb. Because of it's awesome power, Reality Implosion cannot be used if Ravana has already used Reality Bomb. Also, Reality Implosion can only be used once per thread, and after its use, Ravana will revert back to his sealed state, unable to continue fighting for the rest of the thread.
Distortion Cero: Ravana's final and strongest Cero, Distortion Cero works in actually a quite simple way. It starts off the same as other Cero's, Ravana actually charging up the attack; though its power is nearly twice that of his average Cero. The key difference, however, comes after he fires it. By using his Spacial Manipulation and slight reality bending powers, Ravana literally splits the attack into two Cero's, each one just as strong as the original. Finally, Ravana manipulates space to have one of the Cero's appear behind his opponent, colliding with them at the exact same time as the Cero in front of them. The resulting collision of the two Cero's creates an enormously large and powerful explosion, able to harm even opponents who managed to dodge the two Ceros but did not get far enough away. Because of the strength of this attack, there is a 2 post cool down after its use.

The Past
History: Like most souls sent to the Soul Society, Ravana had no recollection of his life as a human; getting a fresh start, so to speak. Still being young, however, this “fresh start” would come to define him more than the life he no longer remembered. After his death, he was sent to District 78, the Inzuri District, aka the Hanging Dog. Despite starting his new life in one of the rougher districts, Ravana was always positive; a trait that is still seen today. At first, Ravana spent a lot of time just wandering around the Inzuri district; trying to find his purpose. Now, this may seem like a heavy topic for a young person to consider, but when nothing else is certain anyone would try to look for their purpose. For Ravana, however, this search was made simpler; as his purpose seemed to have found him.
While wandering around one day, Ravana noticed loud shouts and other signs of a commotion. Having piqued his curiosity, Ravana went over to see what all the fuss was about. Unbeknown to him, it seemed that destiny had chosen today to reveal his purpose. Once he got closer, it was quite plain what was going on. A group of three generally bad looking men had two small children cornered against a wall, seemingly trying to get the children to give up something of value. Of course, the three men were all armed with knives, making the situation even that much more dangerous. As he saw thins, a sudden urge to protect the innocent children came over Ravana; as if telling him that it was up to him to save the kids. Being unarmed, Ravana quickly looked around for anything he could use as a weapon to fight off the tormentors. Unfortunately for him, all he could find was a simple, unassuming wooden sword. Of course, given his personality, Ravana wouldn’t let that stop him, and as he grabbed the wooden sword, his determination was set. Not wasting anymore time, Ravana quickly put himself between the “bullies” and the children.
Of course, as Ravana got between men and the children, there was a slight silence as the attackers actually registered what exactly was happening. Once the realized that it was just some kid armed with only a wooden sword, the three men began to burst out laughing. As you can guess, this was not the best option, and their laughter served only to piss Ravana off further. Moving even faster than he knew he could, Ravana was upon the first of the three men before they had even recovered from laughing. Without hesitating, Ravana had jumped up and, after drawing the sword back for maximum force, swung it down at the man’s head. The pain that this man must have felt could almost be felt through the sound the wooden sword made as it contacted with his head, and after staggering back a few paces, he fell back and passed out; most likely concussed. As the remaining two men stood, shocked at how hard this kid with a wooden sword could hit, Ravana took the opportunity to close the gap between himself and the second man. Almost as soon as he reached him, Ravana let loose a powerful uppercut to the man’s jaw with his left hand before slamming the wooden sword powerfully into his ribcage. As the sword contacted the man’s side, the sickening sound of bones cracking could be heard as Ravana had actually managed to break some of his ribs. Having just witnessed a kid with a wooden sword pretty much beat the shit out of his two companions, the third man became enraged, pulled out a sharp knife, and charged at Ravana with the intent of killing him. “Heh, wrong move buddy” Ravana said, almost as if he were possessed, before pulling the sword back and swinging it full force at the charging man; the longer reach of the wooden sword compared to the knife coming quite in handy. As the sword made contact with the man’s face, sickening cracking and crunching noises could be heard as the wooden sword literally broke in half over his face.
And with that, Ravana had saved the two younger kids and taken out three men who were obviously much bigger than he himself was. It was at that moment; still holding the the hilt of the now broken wooden sword, that Ravana had found his purpose; to protect. Of course, when he later looked back on the whole situation, he found it odd that the sword hadn’t broken until his last strike on the third man, even though it seemed to be no more than a toy. Still, having found a purpose, Ravana was now ready for the next phase of his life. Oddly enough, the day after his heroic deeds, Ravana found that he had a certain interest in the guitar, mainly playing and in the western style of guitar. It wasn’t as if it just randomly hit him while he was sitting around, but as he passed some of the vendors in the streets, a certain one, which seemed to specialize in musical instruments, caught his attention. After that day, Ravana was almost always seen with two things; a katana he managed to buy to replace the wooden sword, and a guitar.
For the next chapter in his history, Ravana began to make a name for himself within the Inzuri district as both a protector of the weak and an oddball who would smash your face in with the guitar he had been playing on mere seconds earlier; mainly because that was less lethal than using his katana. In fact, Ravana himself actually got a kick out of the whole idea and would usually be playing a tune on the guitar before fighting an enemy; just for the psychological effects; even if he did intend to fight with his katana. Because of his “nice guy” personality and his reputation, many of the younger and weaker kids of the Inzuri district would often seek him out, asking for his protection. Being the guy that he was, Ravana simply couldn’t say no, and quickly became known as a protector of the children. After a while, Ravana even had procured a makeshift “orphanage” where the kids of the Inzuri district could come for protection. However, even by this point in his life, Ravana was relatively clueless about the Gotei 13 and Shinigami in general; as Shinigami were usually a very rare sight out in the higher districts.
Everything Ravana knew, however, was all about to change on a single day. Of course, as with most great events, the day started out quite normally. Ravana had done a little daily training, and was then out buying a few groceries for the kids and himself. On his way back, however, he noticed something odd, a sort of presence that he just couldn’t explain. After dropping the groceries back off at the house, Ravana grabbed his Katana, guitar still strapped to his back, and headed back out; wanting to figure out what that odd presence had meant. Although he didn’t know anything about sensing reiatsu and what not, he was somehow able to follow this strange presence. Ravana, of course, knew that things were getting serious; as the closer he got to the presence, the fewer and fewer people he saw. Yet, despite all the warnings, Ravana continued on, determined to find the source of this oddity. Of course, nothing could prepare him for what he was about to find.
After coming to an open square area, Ravana finally got a glimpse of what he had been feeling. There, only a few yards away from him stood a large, monstrous beast with sharp claws and a long tail. In front of the monster, Ravana noticed a young girl, maybe only a few years younger than himself, and his instinct to protect automatically kicked in. Quickly, Ravana raced towards the monster (which he would later learn was a hollow) while it didn’t notice him and swung his katana at its head full force. This, of course, proved pointless, as his simple sword was unable to even scratch the hollow’s mask, and was knocked away as the hollow felt his presence. However, he still didn’t have the attention of the hollow off of the girl. Not having much time, and with only one real option, Ravana quickly took the guitar off his back, grabbed it by the neck and swung it directly at one of the monster’s limbs. Once again, his attack proved useless, and the guitar simply shattered over the monster; leaving Ravana holding just the neck. Of course, his attack did accomplish one thing; the hollow had turned its attention away from the girl and onto Ravana. Cursing under his breath, Ravana quickly jumped back; still holding on to the neck of the broken guitar. At the very least maybe he could try to gouge out the monsters eye with it.
After a few minutes of dodging and failed attacks against the hollow, Ravana was reaching his limit. The hollow, sensing this, took the opportunity to land a devastating blow upon Ravana, sending him flying back, only to land in a pile of old building materials, bleeding a lot. Although he did not fully remember it, blurred flashbacks of his life began to play in his head. To Ravana, however, they seemed to be only the delusions of a man who was about to die. Trying his best to get up and grab his katana, which he had forgotten had been there through the heat of battle, a sense of deja vu came over him, as he felt he had done this before. Distracted, Ravana was easy prey for the hollow, which once again stabbed at him with its claws. Although he managed to move out of the way, the hollow had managed to impale Ravana quite deep on its claw.
Feeling that he was on the brink of death, it was pure luck that led a group of three Shinigami to him and the hollow. Yes, although it had taken a while, the Shinigami of the Gotei 13 had made it to the hollow. Near the point of passing out, Ravana was pushed off the hollow’s claw and fell to the ground as he watched the Shinigami battle and kill the hollow; only making him feel weaker. Before passing out, he was able to make the Shinigami treat the girl’s wounds before his own, a final act of heroism, quickly followed by him blacking out. What happened after that or what happened to that girl is still a mystery to Ravana, but the one thing that was clear that day was that Ravana wanted to become a Shinigami.
After resting for a few days, Ravana packed up all of his belongings, a small amount thought they were, and went to talk to the children he had protected for so long. Telling them about his plans to go and train to become a Shinigami, he left the eldest and strongest kid in charge, someone Ravana knew he could trust. With his goodbyes said, he quickly departed, traveling all throughout the Rukongai districts to train himself. For many years, Ravana devoted himself to training, wanting to become as strong as the Shinigami who had protected him that fateful day. Although it wasn't easy, Ravana continued his training until he was strong and old enough to enter the Shinigami General Academy, aka the Shinō Academy. Now a more mature young man, Ravana felt he was ready to take on the challenges to become a Shinigami.
Ravana, of course, was not the only person wanting to enter the Shinigami General Academy, and as all other students had to, Ravana too had to take the entrance exams. Ravana, however, surprised everyone, as in his first try, Ravana had aced the entrance exam, and was one of the few new students who were accepted into the academy. Once in, however, Ravana knew that he would have to work even harder than before, and due to his own personal drive, made sure to be at the top of anything he did. Still, his time at the academy would prove to be yet another defining point in his history.
Finally, after years of training, the final exams were approaching. Although he was confident in his own abilities, even Ravana felt a bit nervous about the exam. All of his years of training to become a Shinigami would all be put to the test in one single exam, and to be honest, that was enough to make anyone nervous. Still, Ravana stood tall, eager to prove to others as well as himself that he had what it took to become a Shinigami. The exam seemed fairly simple; go investigate a disturbance in the Rukongai district. It was known to the proctors that there were real hollows there, but none of the students knew of this. For all they knew, the dreaded exam could be nothing more than a simple mission.
The students, and even the proctors, however, were in for a rude awakening. Once again, it seemed that Ravana would be SOL again. Upon reaching the testing area, it was discovered that, unannounced, multiple hollows had actually broken into the Rukongai districts. Not only were the numbers threatening, but their strength was as well. Having the advantage of numbers, the hollows had no fear about fighting a group of Shinigami students and their proctors. Ordering the students to stand down, the proctors were going to try and buy some time for reinforcements to come, knowing that at the moment they stood no chance. Angered at the prospect of being told to stand down and disregard everything he had learned about becoming a Shinigami, Ravana could not follow that order.
Gathering up any of the students brave enough, he quickly went back to join the proctors in their struggle against the hollow hordes. Although they were not many, Ravana hoped that they would be able to help hold off the hollows until reinforcements arrived. As they reached the proctors, they were once again told to retreat, but Ravana, speaking out from his own will to protect the innocent of the Rukongai districts, told them that they were here to help, and wouldn't run away with so many innocent lives at stake. After his little inspiring words, the proctors finally gave in and allowed the few brave students to help them. As the hollows attacked, Ravana knew that he had to survive, and was not going to be caught dieing before becoming a Shinigami.
And so, the two sides began to fight. Knowing that they would be out numbered, the main goal of the students and proctors was to prolong the battle long enough for help to arrive. At first, although facing greater numbers, they were succeeding at their goal, able to hold off the hollows, and even kill a few of the weaker ones. Soon, however, they found themselves overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of their opponents, and began to be pushed back. Despite this, they all continued to fight; not only was their pride on the line, but the lives of the Rukongai District residents also depended on their actions. But this resolve, however, was not enough to win.
As the battle wore on, it seemed that it was taking forever for reinforcements to arrive, but in reality, it had not been as long as they had thought. Not only that, but it would take time to assemble a group of Shinigami large enough to deal with the hollows. Finally beginning to feel the fatigue of fighting so long, Ravana and the others were nearing the end of their ropes. That was when they had their first causality. Trying to protect one of the students, one of the proctors had become distracted. Taking the opportunity, a few of the hollows ganged up on him and overwhelmed him. It was this that finally made Ravana's will falter. Seeing one of the proctors fall almost made him lose all hope. But as the saying goes, the light shines brightest in the darkest hour.
As if sensing his loss of hope, a voice, seemingly out of nowhere, spoke to Ravana. "Do you really give up on your goal that easily?” it asked, the tone a mixture of sternness and compassion “Are you really so willing to let your life end in this meaningless struggle?” As the voice spoke to him, Ravana looked around, trying to see where it was coming from. “No, you will not find me on the field of battle, but I am much closer than you might think” the voice said in response to Ravana’s efforts to locate its source. It was then that Ravana realized who the voice belonged to, the spirit of his Zanpakutō. “If your dream is a strong one, then you cannot allow yourself to fall here. Show me your determination, the strength in your heart, and maybe you will find yourself worthy of my powers.” And with that, the voice faded away. Standing there for a second, it looked almost as if Ravana were giving up, but anyone who knows him would know that he never gives up.
Suddenly, a grin crossed his face, and in a flash, he was back in the battle, his resolve restored. With this boost of confidence, Ravana was able to help the group hold out longer, and even managed to take down one of the stronger hollows. Before long, their reinforcements finally arrived, and with their help, the hollows were finally defeated. Exhausted, Ravana was barely able to stand, let alone report on what had happened. Laughing a bit, the captain that had come along with the reinforcements allowed Ravana to go back to his room and rest. Not needing to be told again, Ravana headed back to his room and collapsed on his bed, instantly falling asleep.
The next day, Ravana was surprised to hear that the heads of the Shinigami General Academy, along with the Captain from the other day, wanted to meet with Ravana and the other students who helped hold the hollows back. Although all there were nervous, thinking that they were going to be punished for disobeying orders, they could hardly believe it when they were told that they were all graduating the academy, with high recommendations to the Gotei 13. Ravana in particular, for leading the group of brave students, was recognized, causing him a great deal of humbleness/shyness. He could hardly stop smiling or blushing for the rest of the day.
This, however, was short lived, as starting the next day; he would officially join the Gotei 13. Looking back at everything that had happened, the fact that he was finally a Shinigami suddenly took effect. The goal he had been aiming for so long was now obtained. But, somehow, Ravana didn't feel this was enough. Having seen a captain fight and lead his men, Ravana knew that his next goal was already set; to become a captain. But, that goal was still far off, and Ravana applied himself to his duties for now, trying to prove his worth. Through doing many missions, Ravana's thoughts began to shift back to his Zanpakutō, namely its spirit.
After years of training and completing missions, Ravana was finally brought to his inner world; now ready to learn the name of his Zanpakutō. Of course, just because he was ready didn’t mean it was going to be easy. Upon entering his inner world, Ravana took a moment to look around; trying to see just exactly what was up. It wasn’t so much that he was shocked or anything, but he at least wanted to get a general idea of what kind of environment he was in. Noticing Ravana’s presence, however, his Zanpakutō spirit had other intentions. “So, you’ve finally come in search of my powers” the spirit said from behind Ravana, startling him a bit. Turning around, Ravana was slightly surprised by the form his Zanpakutō’s spirit took. “Wow, I never thought that something like this could live within my soul” Ravana replied, making a comment about the spirit’s appearance “Now then, what exactly do I call you?” Of course, his Zanpakutō spirit only stayed there, an intense stare upon her face “If you have not learned my name by now, then maybe I have put too much merit in your abilities.” Although puzzled at first, Ravana had only to think about it before realizing that he already did know the answer to his own question.
"Well then, Iku-sen Kireme, have you deemed me worth to wield your powers?" Ravana asked, finding the answer to his question within himself. "You need only search your self to find your answer" Iku-sen Kireme answered. And with that, Ravana was back in the real world, his Zanpakutō now in its Shikai. Over the next years, Ravana continued to train, always keeping in mind his goal to become a captain. Eventually, when the Aizen incident happened, Ravana knew what he had to do, and before the final battle, he eventually learned his Bankai. A few months before the battle, however, and to everyone's surprise, Ravana was promoted to Captain of squad 3; as the Gotei 13 would need all the leaders that they could have. Of course, there wasn't much time to celebrate this accomplishment, as there was still much training that needed to be done before the war with Aizen.
Once the Shinigami and Vizards met Aizen and his Espada on the battle field, however, everything began to go wrong for Ravana. Along with increasing his own strength, Ravana's training had also allowed his Inner Hollow to become strong enough to begin to take control. This first step was set in motion simply by being in proximity to Aizen and the Hogyoku. Quickly, Ravana's Inner Hollow began to take control, and as the captains and Vizards began to notice this, they knew that Ravana couldn't be allowed to remain on the field of battle. Using a similar kind of barrier being used for Karakura Town, they sealed him away until the battle would be over and Karakura Town would be brought back to the world of the living. This, however, was very lucky for Ravana, as if this had happened any earlier, he might have been executed instead of being given a chance.
After a long and grueling battle, the shell of his hollow form fell away as Ravana was returned to his body, having beaten his Inner Hollow. Of course, as this happened, the barrier around him began to fade, signifying that the battle with Aizen had ended. Before being able to see who won, however, he fell unconscious, landing flat on the ground. After a day of rest, Ravana awoke to find himself in the care of the 4th division, laying in a bed in the medical ward. Of course, by this Ravana knew that they were victorious. Ravana, however, knew that he could not rejoice, as now being a Vizard, he would no longer be allowed to remain in the Gotei 13. That same day, Ravana handed in his resignation, leaving his position as Captain and the Soul Society.

As his Kidō collided with Artix's Zanpakutō, Ravana was able to catch a glimpse of Artix's features; it seemed that the alcohol might be wearing off, and his clouded judgment may be defogging. Watching as the kid flew off into the ground, Ravana stood still, waiting to see what he would do next. Although that hit did seem to jog the kid's memory a bit, Ravana knew that these feelings the kid had were quite strong. Then again, if his judgment was now clear, the kid could still try to attack him and continue the battle, as he was a member of squad 5.
As all of these thoughts were swirling around in his head, Ravana was disrupted from his thoughts as he saw Artix rising to his feet. Judging by the kids grin, he was able to see things clearly, but by listening to his tone, Ravana could tell that things weren't over. "Well, you're finally gonna man up, eh?" he said before Artix had finished. Hearing the second part of the kid's sentence, he sighed a bit. Sure, although he had not taken any damage, he was still feeling the effects of having fought Artix, whereas it seemed that Artix was almost unaffected. Even if they were both roughly at the same level, Artix had a slight advantage in his moral, having just faced his inner demons.
As Artix made his way closer, Ravana stood his ground. That was, until the kid lunged at him, seemingly putting all of his might into the attack. As it seemed that the attack was going to make contact, Ravana sidestepped it, circling around to be behind Artix. Sure, the attack, although strong, was made slightly easier to dodge due to the distance between them, but still, it was close. Knowing that he would have to up the ante now that Artix was going all out, Ravana sighed a bit, and raised his Zanpakutō up in front of himself "Cut them all down, Ikusen Kireme!"
With that, a blast of spiritual pressure came from Ravana and his Zanpakutō, strong enough to push away any opponent that happened to be standing too close to him. The spiritual pressure took on the form of swirling winds, but it was a pale silver in color. As the pressure continued to swirl around him, an almost transparent pale silver aura enveloped the blade of his Zanpakutō. With that, the swirling spiritual pressure dissipated, leaving Ravana standing there in his shikai. Now, to the untrained eye, it would seem like nothing had changed, and even people who could sense the increase in his spiritual pressure would not be able to notice much of a difference. In fact, the only visible difference was the semi-transparent aura surrounding the blade.
"Now, let's see how much you can take" Ravana said before using shunpo to appear behind Artix. Quickly and fluidly, Ravana slashed across his opponents back, followed by another slash to bring the sword back, creating a two-combo slash. This, however, was not all; as soon as Ravana had slashed his Zanpakutō each time, ten more slashes were created, making twenty in total. Now, the slashes were as quick as Ravana had slashed his actual Blade, and they all seemed to converge upon his opponent at the exact same time as Ravana's Zanpakutō. Not even someone who had trained their body to feel the slightest of differences would be able to tell any difference in the timing. Following Ravana's will, the slashes hit his opponent from all four sides, five in front, five to the right, five to the left, and five from behind.
This was the true power of Ravana's Zanpakutō, or at least the power it showed in its Shikai form. Anyone foolish enough to try and take Ravana out by head on attacks would be met by the multiple slashes he could conjure up with only one swing of his sword. This ability seemingly left no openings for head on attacks, so his opponent would either have to devise a way to fight at a distance or suffer multiple wounds before even being able to lay a finger on Ravana. Then again, since his opponent was one of the fight loving members of squad 5, it seemed overtly obvious that he would rush in to close range without a single care for what injuries he might receive.
