Ryo Kishimoto | Red

Like a harsh whisper, a sword, flying through the air, imbedded itself into the hard side of a large rock. Immediately following it, a woman slammed into that same rock, her feet crashing against its side. Grabbing the sword's handle, she ripped it free, using the momentum to flip over and put her hand atop the rock before launching herself up.

A screeching roar came moments before a large Hollow crashed its white skull where the woman once was. Its large body, a serpentine shape with large muscular arms and hands that it used to pull itself forward, shook as it dazed itself. However, it didn't have time to relinquish itself of the dizzying experience before the woman landing on its face. Red hair splashed about like a curtain before that sword she wields came down, the Hollow's mask suddenly splintered as the sword's honed edge tried to bury into it.

It wasn't enough though, and the Hollow lashed out, raising an arm, fingers tightened into a fist. The redhead prepared herself just in time before she felt the Hollow bash her raised arms. Her sword was left behind though, and the Hollow didn't seem to care as it turned to follow the redhead's trajectory, her body hitting the ground, bouncing and rolling before she fixed herself upright.

That's when she felt the beast gathering energy into its maw, scarlet red energy darkening the space around it as the creature charged up a deadly beam to disintegrate her.

Africa... Even if this place was a bit better than it used to be, a giant hollow hole in the country does kinda put a sour taste to everything. But, Kanako still found it a nice place to travel to for ingredients and otherwise finding large open spaces to explore; or some place to lay down for a bit. However, Kanako's travels today had deviated from the normal when she smelled the faint smell of a familiar Arrancar, one she lived with, mingled with that of a human's. It was all very puzzling, truth be told. Kanako followed the scent out of pure curiosity, glad she was a lizard and not a cat.

At her destination the oversized woman saw a red-haired woman fighting a hollow. However, it appeared that her tussle wasn't going how she had planned. Kanako noticed she made a rather nice hit to the hollow's mask while the Arrancar was walking closer. It seemed that the woman was thrown free without her sword to protect her. If not for the impending cero, Kanako may have kept watching. However, the lizard liked the bravery the woman showed and decided that such a woman didn't deserve to die.

The last thing Ryo would hear before the sound of a firing cero, was the sound of an Arrancar's sonido; and the oversized frame of a large woman. With unerring skill, Kanako drew her Zanpakuto and used it to bisect the cero around both herself and the red-head behind her. After the cero had been properly taken care of, Kanako impaled her Zanpakuto into the ground near Ryo and moved towards the hollow; her yellow eyes holding it in place. She grabbed the thing by the throat, tore the sword free from it's head, and tore its mask off with her bare hands; something painful enough to distract it from the cero Kanako was charging up from her mouth. A blue flash burned through the area as Kanako gave the hollow a taste of disintegration. Pesky runts...

Kanako moved over to the the red head, knelt down, and held out the sword for Ryo to take. She could tell that Amaranta's scent was coming from this woman, but not in the sense that Kanako figured. Simply put, she had fought Amaranta and that still lingered. Kanako extended the hilt of the woman's sword for her, not sure what facial expression to make.

"Keep better hold of your sword, both you and it are too fierce to die so easily."

As if she'll let something like this take her out. With a defiant huff, Ryo had prepared herself to take the cero head on. It's not like she could dodge it anyway, but she'd never have the chance to make a choice anyway.

As her red eyes stared into the similar flash of red, a shadow suddenly stood between her and the bright light. Widening, her eyes looked up, but then her arm came over her face, blocking her vision, as the collision of energy into the sudden person surrounded her in a sudden torrent of blinding energy.

Her vision spotty afterwards, Ryo blinked as she noticed the stranger dashing away. Thus, followed a series of brutality that left the Hollow she was fighting nothing more than a memory. The blue beam that this person breathed told the redhead enough though.

She's run into another Arrancar.

"..." She kept herself still as the, now revealed to be female, Arrancar turned and approached her. With each step, Ryo noticed the difference in height, straining her neck a bit to look at the stranger's face. This chick's taller than Amaranta.

"Uh..," She murmured, reaching for her sword and taking it. "Thanks... And you are?"

Ryo's body is tensed, obviously, but she's being considerate to the fact that this Arrancar just helped her. For whatever reason hasn't been heard yet, so, if necessary, Ryo's making sure she's prepared to kick ass.

Kanako was gladdened that the woman before her wasn't freaking out. Not to mention, Kanako did have to commend her bravery for taking on opponents potentially greater than she was. It was admirable, if not a little foolish. After Ryo took her weapon, Kanako briefly turned away, not answering the question immediately as she yanked her Zanpakuto out of the ground and sheathed it. Afterwards, Kanako moved to kneel in front of Ryo again, mostly to save the woman's neck.

"Kanako. Kanako Hashimoto. I'm sorry for interrupting your fight with that hollow, but your ferocity and technique was too good to simply let die. Who might you be?"

Compared to before, the Arrancar was surprisingly docile. Oh indeed, she had demolished that hollow and didn't even think about consuming its essence. However, it was evident that Kanako was one to not cause trouble... At least, it seemed so from how Kanako was effectively sitting now so she wasn't causing Ryo neck pain.

"Also, why do you smell like a certain lioness Arrancar who speaks more with her fists than actual intelligible words? Did she irritate or hurt you in any capacity?"

Alright. This is the second Arrancar to pretty much say they like her bravado. Is this just going to be a thing now? Is she cursed to attract these honorable Arrancar? Well, guess she shouldn't complain. If she does, she'll regret when she's approached by actual assholes.

"Eh? Cat? You talking 'bout Amaranta?"

Ryo's interested in that than sharing her name. If this, uh, lizard woman is related to Amaranta, then that might explain the weird ferocity compliment. That'd also explain the mannerisms. Ryo didn't ask this chick to get on her knees just for her.

"She's irritating, yeah. She did hurt me too. But it was mutual."

That'd probably not come as a surprise either. If Ryo appeared as furious as Kanako said, then it just makes sense that she's traded blows with the cat of the hour. Well, whatever. Ryo's brows furrowed as she studied Kanako before tilting her head.

"Name's Ryo, btw. Nice to meet'cha, Kanako."

"Yes, her. Well at least it was mutual. She can be... She can be Amaranta."

Kanako listened to the woman for a bit longer, sitting on her knees as she was. Eventually, however, Kanako lifted a hand and placed it on Ryo's head, gently petting the woman. From how nonchalantly she performed this action, she certainly did it often.

"Well I hope that smell doesn't linger... She's a little stinky."

Kanako tried to make a small joke for Ryo's sake before she eyed the woman a bit closer. Why would someone be out here randomly? To get stronger by testing themselves against adversity? It wasn't exactly the best way to get stronger. Not to mention, Kanako figured that, if Ryo didn't get some form of help, she'd end up hollow food or worse. After a few moments, Kanako's eyes locked onto Ryo's eyes, considering the woman carefully.

"What were you trying to accomplish out here, Ryo? Africa isn't exactly the safest place after that hole swallowed up a whole city, after all."

Eh?

Ryo, for a second, thought Kanako was going to try something aggressive against her. Her grip tightened as she almost went to swat the Arrancar's hand. She probably should have because she wasn't ready for that hand to touch her head as it is.

It feels like... What would you even describe this as? Is this what a bear putting its paw on someone is like. Kanako's hand is huge, but she is like 3 whole feel taller than Ryo, so this is to be expected. Ryo's annoyed with it. She'd expect this from her dad, not a complete stranger.

"...I'm just traveling through," She muttered, looking into those yellow orbs with her red ones, dropping her sword to use both her hands to grab Kanako's and pull it off her head.

It's the truth, in a way. She is just passing through, but she's also using this environment to train a bit. She's already heard the spiel about it being dangerous from Amaranta, so she's not particularly keen to get it again.

"I've met Amaranta before coming here, and just so happened to run into her again. Who are you to her?"

Damn. These fingers are huge, but it's Ryo's turn to ask a question before she gets swept up into this giant's momentum.

Oops… Kanako did it again. She violated someone’s personal space again without asking and without invitation. Khaana had told Kanako that it wasn’t the best idea to just pat people on the head for no reason. Kanako viewed the gesture as something comforting, but perhaps it was best to remember that Kanako’s hand was very big.

“Oh… I’m sorry, I forget some people don’t like invasions of personal space.”

Kanako rubbed the back of her head as she felt a little sheepish for potentially angering or irritating Ryo. Unlike Amaranta, Kanako did her best to not irritate or piss off people unless she wanted to. Additionally, Kanako did let it slide that Ryo was getting herself into quite a bit of danger; but she did give the woman an oddly concerned look before she let the matter slide completely. Such an attractive, and strong, woman should be more careful of her life around hollow; they care not about you, only the meal your soul would provide.

Eventually, Kanako turned her attention to Ryo’s question, tilting her head somewhat as she contemplated the question. Who was Kanako to Amaranta? Friend? No, that didn’t seem right… Roommates was an accurate enough answer, but also didn’t fulfill the whole. Kanako simply decided on the most honest answer.

“She’s my roommate, co-worker, and… Acquaintance. I don’t think I can call her a friend, she’s often too angry and mean to be considered as such.”

Ryo doesn't even care about anything else after that.

"She has a job?!"

Her widened eyes and raised voice are enough to relate her shock. She figured that damn cat was just a weird hobo or something, not an actual member of society. Though, she can only wonder who'd hire someone like Amaranta. That pussy lacks any social skills and only thinks about fighting.

"Oh god..." Ryo grumbled, putting her face into her hands, shaking her head.

Kanako couldn’t really blame the woman for her reaction. The idea that Amaranta had a job was, indeed, concerning. However, it wasn’t like Amaranta was working a 9-5 job; far from it. No, she was working for the same woman Kanako was, a woman who could handle the oddities and rather aggressive hollow nature.

“If it helps, she doesn’t work a ‘proper’ job. She works for someone who can handle her oddities… relatively well.”

Kanako shrugged some as she looked at Ryo before she decided to push the conversation away from Amaranta. It wasn’t worth drawing on the discussion and causing Ryo more concerns about the lioness. Kanako was, instead, much more curious about Ryo.

“Enough about her, however. I’m more curious about you. What are you doing out here in Africa?”
