Beneath the Fallen Sky [Yuuto/Suigan]
Mon Oct 21, 2024 3:46 pm
Test Title
It had become very rapidly apparent the level of distrust the average Shinigami had towards an unknown man wielding a Zanpakuto, a distrust that was understandable given the state of things. Having returned to his abode he donned his former Shihakusho to help him blend into the other Shinigami, granted it was far more battered than a standard one but... well, he could just say it was damaged during the invasion if anyone questioned it.
This thankfully led to him finally obtaining some useful information, specifically that the mode of entry was still unknown by the majority of Shinigami and that the Captain-Commander truly seemed to have just vanished. Just these two things alone concerned Suigan immensely, such that he had begun hunting for someone more in charge and that person was a man by the name of Hisakawa Yuuto.
Allegedly he was one of the strongest Shinigami within the Gotei currently, a perfect person to speak too to get some actual answers rather than just more questions. So with his newfound information and disguise donned he had made his way into the Seireitei, thankfully not stopped too often by any one person and not questioned that heavily either.
This gave him the chance to begin nearing the Fifth Division Barracks, which was also another division he was told was in charge of tracking down and handling Traitors. He wasn't sure how easy it would be to contact this Yuuto individual, but he had hoped that the Captain would be easily recognizable with a Captain's Haori, and that he'd have little trouble in attaining a meeting with him, even if it might be brief.

YUUTO HISAKAWA | STORMSWORD
Everything was on fire right now. The Gotei had been dissolved, but, thankfully, many of the now former Fifth Division still followed him, and were willing to see their original orders to the end. Even if the Gotei was no more, that would hardly stop the traitors that may remain in the mist.
As a result, many were coming to give their reports, then going off to continue the hunt. By this point, Yuuto was certain that he had become more familiar with the sound of their Shunpos than the sound of his own pulse.
The now former Captain himself had written down a list of people to investigate, ones that he had intended to deal with personally. That was, until, he sensed an unfamiliar source of energy approaching. As far as he was concerned, the only people that would be stepping near here would be Mirai, Byakuya, or someone else that he would recognize.
In the blink of an eye, he had left his office, silently making his way toward the source. To Suigan, it would likely seem as if he had appeared from nowhere, a hand on his sword. While his expression showed level-headedness , his eyes were already analyzing him, down to every minute detail.
He wore a shihakusho and had a Zanpakuto at his side, and his spiritual power gave clear indication that he was a Shinigami. His clothes were battered, either indicating a lack of care, being battle-worn, or simple wear-and-tear.
"I don't recognize you. Identify yourself."
With everything that had happened, he was not going to be taking any chances.

Suigan had certainly expected someone to appear and find him, to question him about his reasons for being here. What he did not expect was the silence that accompanied the appearance of another, a level of stealth like that meant he was either one of the most exceptionally well-trained Shinigami, or he was a Captain. The hand on his blade made it clear enough the intent of the new arrival, and to try and help ease the Shinigami both of Suigan's hands immediately raised to shoulder level palms out.
Once the question was asked, his arms moved to his waist with one behind his torso and one in front before entering a bow. His eyes stayed trained on the other Shinigami as he did so and spoke with a level of calmness that would rarely be expected by others when approached in such a manner. "I would be more surprised than you are currently if you did recognize me, My name is Suigan Sato a former member of Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto's Gotei."
With that said he slowly began to raise once more, his hands now falling to his own sides with the one nearest his Zanpakuto being kept a small distance away from it. His stance however was not a defensive one, nor was it hostile. Rather it was remarkably neutral "Is it safe to presume you are Hisakawa Yuuto, Captain of the Fifth Division? If so I would very much like to speak with you about the current state of Soul Society."

Yuuto's eyes narrowed as the uninvited intruder held his hands up. He wasn't, however, expecting this person to bow, causing his gaze to soften slightly, an eyebrow raising. While he did not recognize him at first glance, the name immediately allowed him to remember, and now, he could put a face to the name. A member of Yamamoto's Gotei -- an answer vague enough that could place him anywhere within the two millennia that the Gotei's founder had ruled.
"There is no image of you in any database within the Seireitei. I do, however, recognize that name, Sato. At least it's nice to put a face to it."
The hand on his sword relaxed, traveling a bit further down as his wrist rested on the tsuba, his stance notably less aggressive than it had been before.
"Former Captain. The Gotei United has been disbanded. Regardless, speak."

The lack of information on him within their database wasn't a surprise to him, all the better to ensure nobody could've followed or tracked him down when he disappeared. However the fact that Yuuto recognized his name meant he must've forgotten something on his way out, or he simply failed to recall this individual... both were distinct possibilities. As he relaxed so too did Suigan, thankful that his display at the very least helped to put the man at ease for the time being.
That being said, the news of the dissolution of the Gotei United was... greatly concerning to the Shinigami, so much so that his brows visibly furrowed at the news and he seemed to almost recoil a bit as if struck by weapon. "Disbanded!?" Was the first and most immediate word that both came to mind and from his lips.
It'd not been but a few days at most since the attack and they'd already completely disbanded? "What in the world is your Captain Commander thinking?" He muttered aloud, placing one hand against his forehead and speaking as if this was an internal thought and not something spoken aloud. "My apologies, I had come here to offer you aid. I'd learned from a First Division member that there were rumors this incursion was facilitated, at least in part, by traitors amongst the Gotei."
Suigan let out a soft sigh and shook his head in disbelief, not only had they renamed Yamamoto's Gotei 13, but now it was disbanded? Did these Shinigami know nothing of pride? Had they fallen this far in the absence of the Great General? "I see now that the situation is far more dire than I thought it was... Well regardless, my aid is still available if you desire it. I of course realize that as an outsider to this situation you might be hesitant with such a thing, however I can assure you that such hesitation is not needed."
He looked towards the First Division Barracks momentarily before speaking again "Do the Quincies and Humans know of this?" Perhaps the most pertinent question for Suigan in truth, if they knew the Gotei had been disbanded it was, in his opinion, highly likely they would strike sooner rather than later.

Yuuto's expression was unchanged at hearing Suigan's disbelief at the news. In the entire time that the organization with the name of "Gotei" had existed, the idea of disbanding had likely been far from anyone's mind. Even after the two-thousand years of its existence under Yamamoto, the name and idea had simply been adjusted, reformed, changed. Never disbanded.
"It was the decision of her Lieutenant," Yuuto said, eyes narrowing. "Not her own."
The way this character seemed to carry himself, Yuuto didn't like. It had a sense of ego to it that was...frustrating, to say the least. An alien whisper passed through his head, and by instinct, Yuuto's fingers tightened around his sword, feeling his skin crawl and goosebumps forming down his spine. He drew in a sharp breath to compose himself, letting his fingers relax.
"I'll keep it in mind," He said flatly. "If you want to help, go around and help the remnants of the Fourth kill the remaining Hollows."
The moment Sato mentioned Quincy and Humans, Yuuto's fingers coiled tightly around his sheath.
"Uncertain," He said with a quiet, yet evidently annoyed sigh. "Given how loose-lipped some people can be, as well as there being nothing stopping them, it is anywhere from likely, in the process of happening, or inevitable."

Beneath the Fallen Sky
The Lieutenants decision? Wasn't the Captain-Commander still the one in charge though? How could the Lieutenant have the authority to do such things? Truth be told this only raised MORE questions than gave him answers, but in either case it seemed the Gotei had become ever more dysfunctional without the leadership and guidance of Yamamoto... How unfortunate.
He gave a nod and slight bow when Yuuto spoke of ways he could help, even if it wasn't directly tracking down traitors the hollows still posed an immediate threat and quelling them swiftly was for the best. However as for his query to the knowledge humans and quincy had, well... that was concerning to say the least. "I see... One last question if you don't mind me asking..."
His tone and demeanor shifted to a more serious one, now looking Yuuto square in the eyes "If their Lieutenant had the authority to disband the Gotei, then that can only mean that misled into thinking your Captain-Commander was simply out on business and instead is either missing or dead. So my question is simple, Hisakawa Yuuto, Where is the Captain-Commander?" His eyes met with Yuuto's and didn't turn away as he spoke.
Perhaps a step too far, his question certainly had a demanding tone to it. Sure he might've known he wasn't in a position to demand things, but he'd hoped this man, a former Captain, would be more straightforward with him than a simple seated officer.

YUUTO HISAKAWA | STORMSWORD
He knew that Suigan wanted information. The amount of questions he asked in the midst of his supposed desire to help the remnants of the Gotei made that clear enough. He was a member of an older generation of the Gotei, and it seemed he had basically been living in complete isolation for the last century or more, it was of little surprise that he wanted something as valuable as information.
However, the tone he took as he insisted to know what happened to Murasaki caused Yuuto's eyes to narrow, inklings of power beginning to leak from the man who, as far as one's spiritual senses were concerned, was essentially a ghost.
"Mind your tone, Sato," Yuuto warned coldly. "Regardless, it is none of your concern."
Those tiny inklings of power, as quick as they came, faded away, and Yuuto's eyes returned to their neutral, yet careful glare. Internally, though, he cursed himself. This day had been long, stressful, and frustrating, and it had made his tongue slip.
"You are not a member of the Gotei United, former or otherwise," He said firmly. "By all accounts, you are a civilian. All you need to know is that the Gotei United is disbanded, and if you wish to help, there are efforts you can contribute to."

Beneath the Fallen Sky
Suigan took a deep, exhausted sigh. He understood his position, he understood very well why Yuuto was so cautious even as his energy was let loose even if for the briefest of moments. But as he responded it made clear who he was talking too, Hisakawa Yuuto wasn't someone who was to be trifled with... Nor was he someone who would simply loose their lips because of intimidation.
As a result, Suigan bowed in reverence to this individual before responding "My apologies, earnestly." He tried his best to make it as obvious as he could with both his bow, which was deep and respectful, and his response. "I should make my stance immaculately clear." As he said he did not loose his own Spiritual Pressure, such a thing would likely be perceived as a threat given their current situation.
"I aim for the protection of Soul Society itself, ABOVE ALL ELSE. Perhaps I should do better at introducing myself, please allow me the opportunity to reintroduce myself." Both his tone and demeanor was... unnatural, perhaps even for those whom might be of the original Gotei. But Suigan had always carried himself differently than his piers, even following Yamamoto for different reasons than most.
"My name is Suigan Sato, Former Member of Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto Gotei." As he spoke he straightened himself to look Yuuto once more directly in the eyes without anything to hide "I ask about the Captain Commander of the Gotei United only out of fear that the leadership has failed in his absence nothing more. I seek the absolute protection of the Soul Society, and regret only now my inaction in the ensuing incidents. I take full and total responsibility for this inaction, and seek to correct such injustices. However," He gave only a brief pause before continuing, choosing his words exceptionally carefully.
"Given the meteoric pressures I have felt recently, I have felt only now that my presence was required to reintroduce itself. Up until now I have felt complete and total safety in both the leadership and the Shinigami under its charge. However given the immensity of the Spiritual Pressures I have felt recently, I am forced into action as hollows, previously unknown entities, have shown up within the Rukongai itself. Additionally, I have been lied to by those within the Division that leads the organization that leads the Gotei, told that the Captain Commander is simply 'away' when, in fact, they are entirely missing from Soul Society as a whole. Such a thing was entirely and utterly impossible under Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto."
He gave a few moments pause before he began to speak again, wanting to ensure that this man knew full well why he was here "In light of these events, I am led to believe, by the Gotei United's own First Division, that the Gotei simply 'failed' in this one and only instance. However having been lied too by those very same people, as you yourself have confirmed, I am led now to believe only that this entire organization has failed in its duty to protect Soul Society."
The destruction around them was proof enough of this claim, that he knew that even Yuuto couldn't deny. "As I said before, I seek the total and absolute protection of Soul Society itself and nothing more. I care not for whom is in charge, I care not for what organization it brings forth to carry out those duties. I am from the Ryūgon District, I own the Ryūgon district, and NEVER in my almost Two-Thousand years of living have I ever seen it endangered to this extent. NEVER!"
He understood full well that his words might not sit right with this Shinigami, but in earnest... He did not give a single fuck. He didn't care of Yuuto didn't want to hear this, he didn't care if Yuuto didn't accept this as a fact... He saw this entire thing first hand. "After Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto, my district knew peace. It had absolutely NO FEARS! Even with Aizen's betrayal we feared not, For he was in charge. However let me be entirely and utterly clear to you, such things have changed entirely. Hollow have invaded, half of my district is completely destroyed. I have NEVER tolerated such things in my entire life and I will NOT begin now. If your Captain Commander has failed, it is the responsibility of all Shinigami to make such things known."
He KNEW his words were provocative, he KNEW that Yuuto might not like what he had to say... Yet the entire time his Spiritual Pressure, his Reiryoku remained entirely tame to ensure Yuuto knew he meant not to threaten the man. "If Soul Society is in danger, such things MUST be known. I do NOT intend or mean to mock you or yours. I understand full well the devastation that has happened, I understand full well the circumstances that the Ryūgon District is in. HOWEVER, I do NOT understand the situation of Soul Society."
He had hoped that Yuuto would understand both his words and his meaning, he was sure that a Captain would understand such things. He was not intending on questionining the capabilities of the individuals that held Soul Societies protection in their charge, but he did aim to question the capability to protect it after such a devastating event.

"Protection of the Soul Society above all else"? Yuuto's eye twitched in response, however, he remained silent, allowing Sato to continue and finish. These views were either foolish, childish, delusional, or worse, all three.
"I know who you are," Yuuto said, his eyes narrowing. "I also can tell that you are either a fool, or just a terrible liar."
Suigan Sato, former member of the original Gotei Thirteen, a participant in the slaughter of Quincy, and who vanished after the late Head Captain Yamamoto's death. There had been some theories that simply said that he had been dead, but, given the timing, Yuuto had never believed them.
"If you sought for the Soul Society to be safe," He said, a frightening lack of malice or accusation in his voice. "Then you would never have disappeared. Where were you when the Gotei was recovering after the loss of the late Head Captain? When the demons invaded and made nests? When all of creation went to war against those same demons to finally drive them out?"
That firm umber seemed to bore a hole into Suigan's, the gaze of a man who had spent nearly the entirety of his life among spirits clawing his way to the apex, standing in attempt to do exactly what Sato claimed he wanted.
"The Gotei failed, that much is apparent," He said. "However, it is also apparent that you don't care about the protection of Soul Society, you only care about your safety, your district's, presumably where you've been hiding for the better part of a century."
"While that much would normally not be a problem, you try and present yourself as if you seek the protection of the entire realm, that you don't care about who is in charge, yet that could not be further from the case, as evidenced by the gloating of your time under the late Head Captain."
Yuuto took a step closer to Suigan, that gentle gaze fading more and more as he continued, the slightest hints of sulfur-yellow mixing in with the usual dark brown.
"I will remind you once again that you are not entitled to that information," He said firmly. "Nor is it our responsibility or obligation to reveal sensitive information. It is our responsibility to maintain the balance."
