Re: To Be Alive[Rio, Igen]

RIO SHIHOIN
His attempt at filling the air with conversation was appreciated, even if she didn't express that vocally. It cut through the awkward atmosphere that dominated the room ever since he entered. Any way of avoiding deafening silence was a godsend.
Of course, Rio recognized how Igen might react to her answer. In truth, she hadn't found any moment to enjoy a well-prepared meal. Prideful as she was, some aspect of her soul felt ashamed to enjoy anything in life after her miserable defeat. Alas, she could never imagine herself lying to the man in good conscious. Sighing softly, she answered plainly.
"No. I haven't exactly found time to do so. Even more so with how hectic things have been. New responsibilities, habits, and everything else that comes with a change in positions..."

Igen blinked a few times, but smiled softly as Rio gave her response. A little chuckle escaping his throat as he gently turned her to the side a bit as he worked on the next section of her. "It's kinda funny, I kinda expected that. You always did have a lot of pride. Even after mellowing out a little, you still take a lot of pride in pushing your luck." He sighed softly and paused as he reached into his belt and took out a small chunk of wrapped something and handed it to her.
"At least take some rations. Intake is important to restore energy you know. We healers wouldnt be doing much if we didn't have our fortification pills. It'll also help with your healing. A steady influx of energy is good for the body. And we definitely dont want one like yours getting messed up from malnutrition." He pointed out, pausing for a moment as he moved onto her sides and took a moment to look over her wounds.
"You're a Captain now. Theres a difference between the sort of responsibility a noble has, and a Captain. For nobles it's about image. However, Captain Kyoraku was known as a lazy captain, a slob, and a lecher. But when it came to his duties, he still was one of the best that you'll hear talked about in the academy." He noted softly, looking down to Rio and gently tapping her on the shoulder, pausing as he traced some outlines of her wounds, slowly working to wash out the gunk with that gentle flow of reiryoku. "Captain Shihoin as well. Was very well known for being lax. I know that you want to keep up a visage of strength. But if you aren't taking care of yourself, all you're putting up is a facade." He noted softly, perhaps surprising Rio about how seriously he took the subject. Or maybe it wouldn't.
Of all things, the one thing he took seriously was the responsibility that came with ones position. He felt that perhaps, many seated officers didn't quite understand what that seat of theirs meant.

RIO SHIHOIN
"Hehe. is that so? That's good advice. My pride is both my greatest weapon and an occasional detriment. But perhaps a change in approach will do me some good moving forward."
Pushing forward, from her experience, was all she knew. Ever forward in perpetual motion, an immovable bulwark with a will forged in iron, a shield sworn to duty. Any of these descriptors summarized her well, but she still maintained her humanity beneath it all. Rio's mood seemed to brighten with each passing moment as he continued to heal and tend to each wound.
His advice proved to be as soothing as the spirit energy cleaning the blood from her gradually recovering wounds. Politely taking the ration from his hand, a small smile formed across her lips. There was something nostalgic about this. He didn't feel like a stranger right now. He felt like a friend sharing advice with her in a difficult time. Indeed, perhaps she was getting ahead of herself here, but even if she were, his advice seemed to ring true as she gazed up at him from her current position with an amused raise of the eyebrow.
"I didn't know you were so knowledgeable about the history of our former Captains, Igen... I'm impressed."

Igen was finishing up his medical treatment, and as he did, he helped her get dressed again. The comment she made about always persevering didn't draw a response from him. For the time being he just... didn't think about that one too hard. Those thoughts didn't matter right now. And so, once Rio had taken the food, and offered that response, he paused and gave a snort, flashing a small grin.
"Cmon I paid attention in class. I graduated pretty quickly I'll have you know! A full three months early." He stated with a proud grin. Okay that really wasn't all that impressive, but it was still something he was proud of. In any case with a sigh, he stood up, leaving her ...ahem. Curvy dark-skinned frame now perfectly cleaned up. A pause as she flexded his hands. A bright red glow covering his palms,. burning away any residual blood and sanitizing his hands, a bit of water removing any residue before he then picked up his things and offered a lopsided smirk.
"Alright. You're all set Captain. The skin will be a bit tender for an hour or so. But well. Tender for you is still probably as sturdy as a house. So you won't need any restrictions. I have other patients to attend to. Have a good day, Captain." He chimed, before turning and attempting to take his leave.

RIO SHIHOIN
"Three months early, you say? I wouldn't expect anything less from my dear friend."
Rio paused for a moment after those words exited her lips. It was a bold statement, to be certain. There was no guarantee this man even wanted to share the same room as her, but the current atmosphere told her otherwise. At the very least, engaging with him again felt nice, if not somewhat awkward given the circumstances. Now that her body was properly healed, she could operate without issue.
Stretching her arms and legs, she slowly redressed as she listened to him voice his parting words. He was prepared to leave now, and they would likely not cross paths again until things settled down. Of course, the prospect of that happening any time soon was close to zero. As such, as he prepared to leave, Rio called out to him before he exited her office entirely.
"Thank you, Igen. Your advice was just the reminder I needed to get my head straight. Moving forward, I know things are only bound to get even busier, but if at all possible, I'd genuinely like to hang out with you again. Until then, take care of yourself and know you still have my support."
