What to do from here [Departure of Opportunity] - Page 2 Empty Re: What to do from here [Departure of Opportunity]

Decided I might as well put some comments I have about the site here.

First off, I totally would not mind seeing the number of global announcements being cut down. It gets a tad frustrating when I have to scroll down like a page and half just to get to the actual topics that I am interested in. Most of them don't really need to be kept as global topics anyway (present topic not included) or could be up in the globabl annoucements for maybe a couple of days and then returned to a normal announcement.

Because honestly the sheer number of them is a bit overwhelming for me. Makes it difficult for me to figure out where the hell I am supposed to start reading stuff and what applies to me and what applies to others. And I have actually been on the site >.> When I first joined it almost kept me from joining since it made things seem a tad disorganized.

Also on forum organization, I think a bit of a reorganization of the application forum would be helpful. Make a sub forum to put all of the templates in so that people don't have to scroll down past all of the subforums and the stickies just to get to the templates. First time I was here it took me ages to even find the damn things. Either put them in their own subforum (easily accessible from the front page) or maybe just put them in the forum with the applications related to it as a sticky. And yes I do know that you have links to them in the widgets but expecting people to look at the side of the site is giving roleplayers far more credit then they sometimes deserve.

If you are changing stuff with the organizations and races then I have a few recommendations. First off, last time I checked the race histories and organization histories (keep in mind this was awhile and many might have been removed) it felt like the races and orgs really didn't have a lot to do with each other in the histories. A few of them felt like their history was like "oh they appeared and did stuff on their own for awhile and now they are involved in the present conflict. Intertwining the race histories a bit I think would make things a little more interesting. Make some races former enemies and now present allies. Have two races that have just recently undergone a shattering of an old alliance. Stuff like that. I would make it more interesting when you then have to roleplay with someone of that other race because then you have extra baggage or worries to allow a fair bit of conflict, or at least interesting conversations.

Also with the organizations I think it would be a good idea to cut down on the sheer number of slots open for each of the orgs. Just a quick check on the orgs shows that most of them have multiple sectors/division with multiple seats in each sector/division. Even if you have a ton of members controlling a lot of characters, they aren't that likely to fill up all of those slots. And honestly expecting them to do so and by extension expecting them to make a lot of characters is most of the time a bad thing. Most of the characters will end up being underutilized or the player will have a higher chance of burning out on roleplaying if they have 10 threads with 8 different characters or something. A better policy in my opinion is to first set it up with only a few seats or divisions open and then when the current ones fill up then you can start expanding the size of the org.

This next point is a personal pet peeve about the site but I might as well get it out of the way. The idea that you have to be 200 years old to get shikai and 700!!!!! to get Bankai is just ludicrous to me. Yes, I understand that most characters on this site are old due to being 400 years past original manga, but if you look at canon at all those numbers do not hold up at all. The turn back the pendulum arc showed a lot of the canon captains as young kids or teens. 100 years later they are captains and have bankais. So either they look like kids for 600 years and then suddenly BAM adults with Bankai or it takes a much shorter amount of time. I mean hell, it only takes 20 years to master a Bankai so saying that it takes 700 years to gain the Bankai and then only 20 to master seems rather silly.

I also go back to my eariler comments about the adult Captains looking like kids 100 years ago. From that I estimate they might have been around 100 years old right at that point in time. So now we jump ahead 400 years to where the PH story line is taking place. So they would be about 600 years old. So anyone that has to be 700 years old to get Bankai means they are actually older then the canon captains....who had Bankai 400 years earlier then the other members. Doesn't really make much sense in my eyes. Honestly I really never have been a fan of having people make characters super old as it is which adds into this but it also hurts the logical side of my brain to imagine needing 700 years to achieve Bankai despite all of the scientific advances and the like.

Next comment is on the skill sheet. This might not need a change but I have been curious about it for awhile so might as well ask. It says that Tier 3 gives one Adept with the rest being beginner. Alright understandable. Tier 2 gives you 1 advanced and 2 adept. Still good. Tier 1 gives you 2 advanced. Wait....does this mean 2 advanced and the rest are beginner? Or is it two advanced with two adept. Because that could kind of be seen as a step backward. You were at least adept at three things then you get a bit stronger in one area and you actually lose proficiency in another? And then we get to Tier 0 where it starts making sense again with 3 Advanced and 1 Master. Would recommend changing the description for Tier 1 people so it makes a bit more sense or at least so we know what it really means.

And since you said you will likely be changing the images on the site. You think maybe you could change the "Popular with New Posts" so it isn't the same as the "locked topic" image? That seems like it could bring about a tiny bit of confusion.

Thats all I can think of for now. Some important things, some rather minor. But I figure if things are changing, might as well change things on all level of problematic.

I had a small idea. Though my inactivity hasn't gone unnoticed I am certain that now I will be alot more active since I obtained an incredible amount of free time.

My suggesting was for the addition of Bounts, and with that an orginization for Human world races. One for Good guys and one for Bad guys or Guys who do whatever they please.

I say this because; I started reading the new Shinigami badge arc and realized that it is an awesome idea to have Bounts, Quincy and Humans to join forces for the forces of good but then I realized that not everyone would want to be good, then what? They would have to be a human without an organization to back them up (Although I think there is another organization you could turn to.)? No, I noticed in the new arc that there is a fullbring force apparently against what the other group of fullbringer users are doing.

Now I don't think it has to be Good or Evil, as I mentioned before it sounds great to have a group go after whatever they want instead of just good or evil.

That's my little piece of pie. >_>

Bounts : >NOPE.AVI
Fullbrings : >NOPE.AVI

This takes care of that.

Zaf, most things you mentioned are already in talks, and some will be taken care of soon, if they haven't been already. We have cleared a few organizations already, and are still planning a lot of things. a lot of those I still don't have a clue about, even if I've seen the items being mentioned here and there in talks with other staff. I would advise you follow closely the Changes on the Forum thread in the announcements section, which isn't stickied/announcement/global announcement. With that, you should have a better idea of what's going in right now, and most of the things there might answer your current inquiries, although I know that we keep looking at this thread while making the changes, to see what people think and want.

This discussion has LONG been over. Moved to Old Announcement since we are out of this desperate state.
