Re: That Sinking Feeling [Liltotto, _____]

With a grasp of his hand, her thoughtful gaze rose to meet his, not even the darkness of the frontier's cusp dulling the light in her eyes at this point, a decided tone returning his statement, "Then maybe I am happier being abnormal."
A flicker of a blink followed the man's insistence on supporting her despite their level of disagreement. Even if he was the only being she knew of that could even come close to understanding her, she didn't expect this kind of willing. A brief nodding was the remaining thing performed, the door opening. An otherwise peaceful, desolate shelf was wrought with those glowering shadows, all manner of shapes staring upon her with disdain.
Her heart sunk, grip tightening. With a breath, a hesitant step pressed onto the sandy ground outside the safety of home. Her gaze was held down, those familiar jeers and ugly comments finally audible as she traversed the crowd of regrets and foul memories with only the ghost of company to aid her. The first several 'strikes' the shadows pelted her with were met with brief flinches or ceases in her advancement, shuddering breaths slowly calming as she slowly realized what they truly were: memories and feelings taken shape. They were but echoes of the past her mind clung to and punished her with for her transgressions.
But she wasn't that forsaken devil child groomed for a war she felt no passion to fight for anymore. She was a friend, a lover, a daughter and so much more. She was a Sternritter of the Vandenreich, fighting for her people's safety.
Her gaze lifted, grasp loosening as all of the abuses thrown at her gradually lost their weight and control over her. That call that simply would not cease, if anything it had become more desperate, as if the mere realization of her intent strengthened it's resolve.
The two reached the precipice, all was quiet once more, but a peaceful sea bordering an endless drop into a darkness unfathomable. Even with her certainty, she felt fear of what was to come - there was no going back if she took this step. Her gaze steeled, only softening somewhat with Mazda's request. She looked at him, a fondness growing in her gaze, before pulling an earnest smile, "Of course. I'll tell her next time I see her."
Turning away to look at the abyss, she'd add only another comment, "She misses you, too."
A footstep beyond the edge, her grasp on his hand would slip away, ground giving way to her fall.
"Cya later." Would be the last thing the echo of will would hear before her form faded into the black fog below.
