Re: A Cool Breeze through Orchids [Ryouko, Lerna]

Lerna nodded slowly as she took a moment to consider such a thing. She had imagined that was probably the case. Thinking back to the Mod soul She'd met, her jaw briefly tightened before she smiled and gave a light chuckle in response to Ryouko's question. "Ah, you mean academically? Hm, I guess I never really thought of that. I guess Medicine and Biology if I really thought about it." she murmured. Truth be told, she had not really MEANT to learn a lot about it. But her endeavors with humans and her gigai had led to some ...situations where familiarity with the human body had been beneficial. Not to mention some ...activities with some of the gangs lent benefit to having a bit of medical knowledge. Though, frankly, it'd been years since she'd really gotten into that. She wondered if she still had it in her or not.
But it did bring up something. She was fairly smart, but she hadn't really put in a lot of work to cultivate that. She was usually on the side of adaptability, even in fights she kinda pushed such things as higher thought to the side outside of just responding to something unusual. Ripping into things was kindof her norm. But a lot of things took more than just being smart, hell she still struggled with Hakuda and just general Martial Arts thanks to how out of sync she felt with a human form. It might be something she'd need to speak with some of the representatives at the Academy about. But still, it certainly was nice to talk to someone in the division itself, there was a bit less......patronization.

RYOUKO AMOU
"I err. Fix things."
It was a pretty underwhelming job. She didn't really invent the next big thing or create the answer to a problem, Ryouko just spent most of her days fixing equipment that had been damaged to make it useable again. A very boring job but it was easier to fix something than to invent something new, so that was good. Right?
"You know.. Zajiku, Denreishinkis and the like."
Every now and again she'd even get a Kikanshinki but they'd fallen out of use a lot. It was harder to delete people's accounts of spiritual events when the whole world was spiritually aware now.

Lerna perked up slightly, clear surprise when she actually heard what the woman's general purpose was in the third division. She'd certainly had a lot of ideas, but it was so.... mundane. She DID just forget that a lot of Third Division probably WASN'T a bunch of nerd scientists. Those exists, absolutely, but there WERE probably just a bunch of them who just performed that kind of task. She smiled and gave a soft chuckle. "I didn't even think of that. I guess you probably have a pretty important job then. I do some of that down on earth actually. It seems simple, but things go to shit real fast when it suddenly stops." She chuckled, thinking back to a few bouts of aggressive widespread confusion when something just stopped working and nobody knew why. Sometimes because she intended that to be the case~
Ah memories.
Even so, she gave a sheepish glance to Ryouko. "Thanks for giving me a bit of your time bye the way. I appreciate you taking the time to talk about all this stuff." She added, holding her hand out and offering a handshake to the smaller woman.

RYOUKO AMOU
"Yeah..."
She mumbled while trailing off, it made her feel a little unhappy at the reminder that some other people could do the same role that she did. It wasn't another person from her own division. Her mundane job felt even more unimpressive and redundant when others can do it.
It made her dejected that her job was so easily replicated.
"Um, no worries."
Ryouko wasn't so confident to return the handshake though, apparently those seventh division people did it a bit with all their ventures to Earth but she was too meek and just gave Lerna a small bow.

Lerna paused as she noted the sudden mumbling and trailing from the woman. Had she upset her? Even more seeing the girl just giving a meek little bow to her. Shit, she thought she'd been doing the whole polite shinigami thing right, had she slipped up and done it wrong? She relied so much on just practice that she wasn't actually sure how to respond to this. Sure, a friend? She could do her best to be supportive, but this woman was a stranger, how do you handle a stranger that's clearly bummed out? She missed the days when she could just eat Ryouko and not have to deal with these social issues. Ah well.
"Ahah...uh...right. Anyway, thank you again for your time. I actually have to go getting to class. But I'd like to thank you properly sometime! Maybe we can get lunch or something." She posed, but didn't push the subject if Ryouko didn't seem into it, she DID actually need to get to class in a bit.

RYOUKO AMOU
"Sure. Um, we can do that."
It wasn't a lie and frankly it was quite sincere but Ryouko would surely attempt to figure out some excuse to justify not going. It was awkward going out with random people and in public too. She could just imagine it right now and how it would probably end up, that's how it always went with her after all.
"Good luck."
She said with another small bow and disappeared into the depths of the division like a startled mouse looking for the safety of its hole in the wall.
