THE INVISIBLE CRACKS

Artist: Tokyo Ghoul - Song: Glassy Sky

Koyo hadn't been to see Asami-sensei in some time. His features were different as his hair hung through bandages. They were wrapped around his head in a way covering one eye and his nose. His duel with Elyss had left him beaten and battered. However, he'd learned a lesson about his weakness. In his arms which also had bandages on them, were bento boxes. He'd made the food himself through care and great skill. Koyo had always enjoyed cooking since he could put his focus on it.

He came towards the barracks, getting some looks; some here had heard about it. Elyss had pummeled the former Shino Academy student. His face had been healing up nicely and wouldn't have scars. The doctors asked him to keep it on for a short period of time. That period was a few more days, they told him, despite Kaido healing. His hands ached yet from his mother's finger exercises she'd given him. It was a phantom pain that didn't leave him.

As he came into the barracks, he went to Asami-sensei and saw how she'd been. "Greetings Asami-sensei, I brought lunch for a break." As always, his voice held a monotone nature to it. Koyo didn't express his emotions to anyone, even his mother. Fear was the only emotion he knew well enough to describe. His mother told him that someone like him shouldn't display emotion. They needed to be cold and unreadable; that was the perfect Kuchiki.

He'd not seen her in a while, and it was strange to see her through one eye. But he did promise to bring her food. He'd sent a letter of ahead him to be sure she was alright with it. Koyo's expressionless face formed a small hard to see the smile.

Furukawa Asami | Officer of the 5th

Standing at the reception desk, Asami had been waiting for Koyo's arrival for several minutes. It was not that the young man was late, far from it in fact, but rather she had made sure to set aside enough time that they could converse at length. She had heard about what had happened, he was someone that she had a vested interest in keeping an eye on after all and a high profile bout with Elyss Kishimoto was not something easily kept under wraps.

At the sight of her one-time student, though, that last thought weighed a little heavier in her mind than she would have liked. He was in an even sorrier state than she had imagined, but there was nought she could do to change that now. She scarcely smiled, for it was far from a happy reunion, but her eyes gave away a hint of concern that was usually masked so well.

"Good Afternoon, Koyo. I am glad to see you are up and about."

She turned slightly, motioning for him to walk with her, though hands did reach out to take the bento boxes from him should he wish to hand them over temporarily.

"There are plenty of private quarters here within the barracks, so we can dine in peace and discuss matters."

Koyo offered an affirmative nod though he did seem disappointed somewhat. The events with Elyss Kishimoto weren't entirely his fault. Someone in the crowd had pushed him into the ring. He followed along with Asami-sensei carrying two bento boxes of food. He made both in one of his other passions. Koyo enjoyed cooking and was quite good at the subject. "Still sore, but thank you for your concern Asami-Sensei." He said, admitting that the blows taken from Elyss had stung.

Koyo had taken some damage from the rock attack the woman used, along with a headbutt that broke his orbital bone on the left and nose. It wasn't worth venturing back into that topic. He'd instead focused on the cooking and food he prepared for Asami-sensei. He lost the match, and while he did want redemption someday. He understood that wasn't coming any time soon. Not wearing the academy uniform anymore, he felt strange. The selection to Squad Two, while odd, did fit in with his tastes.

His father loved Kido and everything involving it. The mysterious nature of each spell until completion. The incantations all fascinated his father terribly. Koyo wasn't much different in that sense. Casting a spell felt like being on a roller coaster. Each moment felt electrifying and brought him excitement, and it pleased his father. He held no official rank or position, just a member fresh from the Academy. Visitiing his sensei from Squad 5 and enjoying company. He didn't know the way that well.

The layouts of Squad Two and Five were drastically different due to the medical facilities.
