The Woods have Eyes...apparently (Saera, Shuten)
Mon Jul 05, 2021 1:23 am
Saera made her way through the forest, a contented smile on her face as she carried the trunk of a tree she had knocked down deeper in the woods on her shoulder. Her form was glistening in sweat as she walked through the dappled sunlight breaking through the leaves, she was dressed in a pair of old breeches, a chest wrap, her zanpakutou and pretty much nothing else in deference to the heat of the summers day and the hard work she was doing today. She was so used to doing work like this from her time living out here before she became a Shinigami, and from the work she'd picked back up since she'd found some spare time recently to start working on her old home, that she barely even noticed the feeling of the twigs and undergrowth under her bare feet.
A home she was coming up on as she broke through the treeline, entering into the cleared area around the old house and dojo she shared with her father way back then. Her smile faltered as she began to feel her memories threaten to overwhelm her again, but she gritted her teeth, rested her free hand on her Zanpakutou, feeling the comfortingly steadfast presence of Tsuki no Ryu touch her mind. After only a brief pause she finished approaching the building, and dropped the trunk with a resounding thud next to a set of wood working tools. She'd used Kido to knock the tree down, never the wrong time to sharpen your skills, but the spells that served to blow out the base of a tree weren't exactly useful for working the wood into the shapes needed to repair the old building.
A building that was, thankfully, looking better since she'd started working on it. While she couldn't dedicate the kind of time she wanted to fixing up her old home her efforts were definitely showing results. The weeds and vines had been cleared from the exterior, and all of the unsalvageble parts of the structure had been removed where it was feasible to allow for her to re-build them, or marked where she couldn't afford to take out the wood yet so she could deal with it later. She'd had to remove all of the paper that had been in the doors and windows, but that was going to be easy to repair after she had finished the more urgent work.
Saera took a deep breath before lacing her fingers together and stretching them out, then got to work on the trunk. She was going to have to remove all of the limbs and bark before she could start working on making the replacement spars.
