Look at this Stuff (Santa/Alex)
Sat Jun 12, 2021 6:32 pm
What a strange place. Of course that's what she practically said every time she went somewhere new in the world of the living. As that dark veil peeled back to reveal the arrancar, she let her eyes dart around to inspect the place she'd entered from, having emerged up in the sky to avoid popping up inside of some random structure. All the same, looking down on the city she'd chosen it was quite the place. The colors, the people, there was ..... an interesting air about.
She turned, closing her eyes and furrowing her brows, attempting to sense. She had to tense just a little as she did her best, sending out a subtle pulse of reiatsu to try and sense any hollows about. But she didn't feel any..... yet. But she knew that it wouldn't be too long before she began drawing some in. Glancing back down to the surface, she smiled calmly to herself, already excited as she eyed that landscape. She had PLENTY of time to get to exploring.
With a soft static crackle, she used sonido to close in on the ground itself, stopping a good few meters up before gently dropping the rest of the way, looking around as she did. She'd dropped into someplace that looked....fairly remote. Not too many people walking around. And she promptly made her way to the nearest building, up to one of those big display windows and peering inside. A frown crossed her features as she noticed all the lights were out. Was it closed? It was pretty dark out... Damn.
She let out a slow and steady huff, and looked around on the inside of the store. Surely there was a key somewhere on the inside? She looked around, making sure the coast was clear before she stared at the floor just inside of the shop itself. She let that restraint slip just a little, and focused it instead. Slowly, flesh began growing along the floor in a slow, steady ripple of bone, skin, muscle, and organs. She had to slow it down, as much as she had control it was still not something she was used to, as slowly... a duplicate of her slowly grew from the ground, covered in blood, but at the very least, without chunks or her skin missing. Once it was complete, Santa smiled, her duplicate smiling right back before it promptly began looking around the inside of the store, Santa herself remaining mostly still, focusing on keeping the duplicate on task.
A few moments later, it returned, WITH KEYS! "Perfect! Now open the door!" She instructed them, just before the duplicate reached in and tapped the key against .....the little dial on the other side. Santa frowned. Ah... One click later and she slipped inside.

ALEX
For his part, Alex didn't exactly do too much these days, especially late at nights. Usually by this time he was either helping Vegas with her homework, prepping with Nel for work the next day, or just in bed. That was all well and good, but sometimes a guy needed to get out at night. And, honestly, he just felt sort of listless. Besides occasional visits to check in on CJ, he couldn't say his life saw much excitement at all.
He forgot how quiet this city could be sometimes, especially late at night. Reminded him a bit of back in America, though at this time of year he was surprised how cold it got at night. Honestly, he'd always imagined Africa was just some scorching hellscape 24/7, but it was pretty cozy. At least, when it wasn't a scorching hellscape in the middle of the day.
Of course, Alex hadn't expected to see someone else out and about at this time of night, least of all inside one of the shops. Part of him really didn't care much. God only knew how much shit he'd stolen over the years, after all. But, then again, if he lived here he probably oughta stop a crime if he saw it, yeah? Besides, if he ran into the owners later on he'd feel way worse. Making his way over to the shop in question, Alex simply stepped inside with a fairly casual air, not really giving away any hostility.
"Yo. Weird place to wander into this late at night, ain't it?"

As she slipped into the store itself, she couldn't help but stare at the layout of the place itself, slowly making her way toward one of those large display televisions. Ah! She had seen these before! They were like windows that could peek in on other places! She began gently running her fingers along the sides and edges of the thing, curiously trying to figure out how to turn it on as her double stood beside her doing the same.
However, the sudden sound of a voice caused her and her outfitless double to pause. First the replica turned, and then Santa herself turned to look in the direction of the noise, those small antlers on their heads almost making them seem like deer caught in the headlights. A human? Shit. She paused, her brain rapidly sifting through her memory before she put on a nervous smile. "Ah, yes hello! I am, window.....inspector!" She insisted, incorrectly recalling thename of the television as well as failing to come up with a plausible excuse in general. "This one's broken brosef, so I'm here to fix it." She pointed out. Her duplicate nodding enthusiastically along.

ALEX
Why'd he even get into situations like this? If he'd known it was gonna be this way, Alex woulda just called the cops and been on his way. Naked chick covered in blood wasn't a good look. Sighing as he ran a hand through his hair, Alex simply took stock of the situation for a second.
"Right, so even if I thought that was true--I don't, by the way--that's not a window, that's a TV."
Honestly, given her choice of vernacular and the earnestness with which she was trying to sell him on this, Alex was pretty sure this chick was touched in the head. Not like...the Ulv kind of retarded or anything, just sorta not right. Oh well, that wasn't like it was a big problem or anything. Probably.
"You uh, you know you're getting blood everywhere right? Someone's gonna think there was like a murder in here."

Santa paused, her and her clone glancing at one another. Her duplicate WAS making a bit of a mess. Then again it wasn't like she had any way to clean or cover her up. Hmmm, maybe... if she could weave hair into a fabric? That was definitely something she'd have to learn, but nothing that would help her immediately. All the same, the air gently peeled open as the duplicate stepped into a crude garganta. Not like one espada used, but one more akin to those messy dark holes that hollows used, vanishing from sight as it slipped past that thin veil between the world of the living and the valley of screams.
Santa glanced down at the mess, furrowing her brows. "What's it called?" She asked, deciding upon a subject to focus on. After all, he didn't seem all that keen on kicking her out after all, she glanced at the dark screen before looking back to Alex. He seemed awfully...... annoyed? Tired? All the same he didn't exactly look very friendly, and she did begin to wonder if she should have skimped out along with her duplicate.
Her hand rested on the hilt of her zanpaku'to nervously. "If you want it then you can have it, I'm not that desperate for it.." She murmured carefully, eyes watching him closely as she perhaps incorrectly, felt a bit of potential hostility coming from the man. Something about his face just .... screamed bad news.

"Like I said, that's a TV."
Alex felt like maybe he ought to be treating this chick lke he did Vegas, but even Vegas knew what a TV was. The garganta gave quite a bit away about the woman, and it stood out to Alex that this was yet another Hollow that he was getting himself wrapped up with. Was he just a magnet? Anyway...
"Uh, no, I'm good. I've already got a TV. How's about we blow this pop stand, go somewhere we can actually chat? I'd rather not get the cops on my ass, my wife'd be pissed."
Normally, Alex would have just left the store and expected this chick to follow him. But he wasn't entirely sure she'd even be able to follow that line of thinking, so instead he simply stood by the door and gestured outside.
"After you."

Her brows furrowed just a little. The name gave her literally no information. But then again, she knew what it was. It was some kinda window, so calling it a TV didn't really change any of her ...bizarre assumptions about the device and as he explained that he wasn't going to take the television set she slowly began reaching up to try and take it off of it's stand, peeling a little, unaware of the wires that started to strain until finally POP! Ripping the cables she soon had the plasma television screen.... sands much of the stuff it needed to work properly, tucked under her arm as she followed the directions, clutching her TV protectively and peering suspiciously at the man even as she walked past him and out of the store itself.
She wasn't too bothered by the change in locations, truth be told. After all, he seemed....... unaggressive. "You seem to be fairly knowledgeable. How do I get this thing..... this....TeeVee, to work? Does it require spirit energy?" She asked calmly enough, eyeballing the device tucked under her arm as she attempted to make conversation whilst walking with the man away from the store.

"Stop."
Holding a hand out in front of Santa to stop her from moving any further, Alex pointed to the TV under her arm, then back to where said TV had been pulled from. Much as he doubted she had any real understanding of why that was wrong, he still felt like he probably ought to stop her from just robbing the place.
"Put the TV back. You can't just take shit when nobody's around, that's stealing. And, for the record, no, it's not powered on spiritual energy. It runs on electricity, you plug it into the wall."
Alex was realizing that he didn't really know much about interacting with someone on this level. Vegas had shown up pretty grown already, a good smart kid right from the word go. This was uh...a little more difficult.

The halting of her progress was startling, her brows raising slightly as she glanced at the hand that was moved in front of her. She glanced between him and the hand, before reaching up and lightly high fiving it? Weird time for one but well she wasn't gonna leave a homeslice hanging. However, his instructions DID throw her for a loop, her brows knitting together in sheer confusion before she ganced down at he Teev. Stealing?
"Who's is it? And why can't I take it? I've been her before, humans do nothing BUT take the stuff that's here!" She asked. She vaguely knew what stealing was, but she had seen many of these stores. This seemed to be some sor knew what stealing was.....uh...sortof. It was taking someone else's stuff. But nobody ever really seemed to own the stuff in these places. She peered slightly.
She would have assumed that perhaps he wanted it for himself, but no he would have justy taken it from her, why was he telling her to put it back? Was he an enemy? She furrowed her brows at him suscpiciously. All the while three aisles over her garden was growing, another copy of herself, formed from her own intentional will, formed slowly out of the ground, pulling herself from the ground, Santa's eyes would slowly form along with her skin before she slwoly and quietly peeled a whiffle bat from one of the shelves and began slowly making it's way around to circle behind the strange man.
She had seen humans fight over things. Particularly the little ones. With their strange combative rituals. Perhaps this man intended such a thing? Well, she was ready. The fool. Santa had seen this many times, over a thousand of these fights in over fifty countries! She knew all the tricks and moves. If he wished to throw down in a ritual fight for the item, she would not go easy. This was HER Teev dammit.

ALEX
Rubbing his forehead in no small amount of annoyance, Alex simply did his best to keep from getting too terribly irritated with the situation. Even if he didn't have the ol' hollow cancer to worry about anymore, he'd heard stress still wasn't good for you.
"Okay, yeah, but they don't just take it. You buy it. Trade your money for it."
This wasn't the first time Alex had needed to teach this particular lesson, but at least the first time it had been his own daughter. This was a little bit more frustrating when it was just some chick he'd run into. Why was he even doing this again? What a fuckin' headache.
"If you want the TV, come back later when the store's open and buy it. You even have money?"
