Brotherly Love [Private/Ask to Join] [Location: Nagano, Japan]

Freedom and personal liberty above all, huh? That sure seemed to fit her world-view. He didn't really agree with the whole thing of 'what is the law, but a threat' stuff, even if it might just be hyperbole. The law was there to make sure that bastards got punished, and that idiots didn't go running around, doing just about whatever they wanted without consequence. Fear, on the other hand, for him, was what made you realize your limits, what kept you alive and brought you back to your senses after a spike of arrogance.

As Calypso hopped down and went to flick him on the forehead, Vanyel gave a smug grin and returned the favor, flicking her before leaning back.

"This whole thing was a tournament, right? Don't they have rules against that stuff? Even for Wulin, or even just a regular martial arts tournament, that sounds sketchy as hell. And you were doin' all of this, just on the off-chance that somethin' related to Ao Guang would pop up?"

Wow, guy was even more of a scumbag than he thought. Just the thought of what happened made him cringe, and he shuddered. Even he had more morals and standards than the guy who did that to her, and that was saying something. He had to admire her determination, even if it was an admittedly unorthodox matter. He found himself chuckling, reaching over and ruffling the little brat's hair as he stood up.

"Here's hoping that you're not gonna end up clashing fists with another guy like him. Sounds like he was a sore loser, but man, doin' somethin' like that is a whole different level o' petty."

Vanyel stretched for a moment, his eyes closing for a moment, opening again as she gave the offer to meet her family. Huh. That was something he hadn't really thought about, but now, with it being introduced, it would be interesting. Following her to the door, he smiled, giving a small nod.

"Yeah. It'd be nice to meet 'em. Meetin' more cultivators would be cool, maybe even have some potential sparrin' partners, or just havin' people to talk to."

He reached forward, opening the door and giving a wave to the elderly man as they departed, with Vanyel fishing through his pocket to get the keys to his motorcycle.

"You wanna make a mad dash for there again, or you wanna ride with me? You weren't doin' so hot after we went from Karakura to here, so you might wanna take it easy. Unless, I'm assuming shit I shouldn't be, and your family's close by."

Vanyel raised an eyebrow as she caught his hand and made a small comment about the guy, before letting him go and smiling. He hoped that what seemed like a newfound confidence wouldn't be the end of her. Then she spilled where her home was, in Norway, and that she had managed to reserve and charter a private jet to the place.

"Yeah, that's...probably for the best. I'd prefer not to drive my baby into the ocean and try to get there while riding on the ocean floor."

While he was a bit skeptical that she was able to do that, he wasn't really going to question how she managed to have the money for a private jet to Norway. Nevertheless, Vanyel brought out his keys, twirling them idly around his finger as he walked over to his bike, sitting sideways on the seat as he turned to face Calypso. Even if she had made plans for a private jet to take them, he knew that it would have to be at an airport, and they weren't exactly right next door to one.

"Well, which airport are we headin' to? Unless you plan on havin' a jet land in the middle of Japan. You gonna take off runnin' again, I'm guessin'?"

Had he ever...what? The hell did that even mean? Giving her a confused look, Vanyel slid his keys back into his pocket and started to follow her. She didn't take off running, so, he figured that "nearby" was a lot closer than he figured. So, he picked up his pace to catch up with her, slowing down to a walk as he started to walk alongside Calypso.

Her comments about who he could only assume to be the one who would be taking them to Norway did impress him, though he doubted anyone's ability to land a plane or aircraft of any form or fashion in the middle of Nagano, even at it's least populated hour. Nevertheless, the idea of it earned a light chuckle out of him as he fiddled with a switchblade in his pocket, careful to avoid the trigger.

His eye twitched slightly as she told him not to pull a knife on the family members he was going to meet. Usually, he wasn't too averse to people touching him when he didn't know them, but...they were technically family, so, it wouldn't be that bad, right? The idea of it made him grimace, but, he sighed softly, shaking his head.

"Yeah, yeah. Not exactly lookin' forward to being fussed over, but, no knives'll be pulled."

He'd tough it out -- though the thought of them fussing over him was a bit concerning. Either way, he was pretty excited to meet basically the other side of his family, one he, until now, never knew he even had.

Following his little half-sister to the airport, or, "gliderport," as she called it, Vanyel stepped onto the jet after her, a bit surprised at how sleek and slim it was. Then again, it didn't seem like this was meant to host many people. He gave a small wave to the pilot. He could understand the first part said to her, "good morning," but couldn't quite figure out what the second part was. Probably some small question about him. He noticed the pilot looked toward him as he asked the question.

As Calypso clarified, he turned to the pilot, offering another small wave and smile, fangs peeking out ever so slightly from his mouth as he did. He sat down next to her, reaching into the mini-fridge not long after her and taking out a drink himself. He chuckled softly, taking a moment to look around at the interior of the jet. It felt strange, sitting on a jet for the first time in...how many years had it been since he came back to Japan from Norway?

"I'll do that. I haven't been on a plane in years, I think the last time was when I came back from Norway to Japan. Feels kinda strange with the interdimensional shit I've been a part of the last couple years. It's nice to do something more...conventional like this. It's kinda nostalgia and relaxin', in a way."
