IOTA ASTHAVON
DEMON WITH A SECRET
Today was the day!
Iota has been planning a pilgrimage to meet with Death for a couple of months now, actually since she’s had a talk with her cousin about not going batshit crazy. While something like this was not a trip that one could do just on a whim, there were things that Iota had to get finished before making the trek. The first problem was her strength, or more importantly her moveset. A majority of Hell was a lawless area with either no guardian or rogue guardians or just guardians that were assholes by Iota’s standards. While some layers were expected to be easy, others were going to be difficult and she was going to need to fend for herself against the perils that wanted to do harm to her. The next reason why this has taken so long was work. Having taken the weight of the realm onto her shoulders, Iota rarely gets the chance to even think for herself let alone get the time to take a vacation. Everything she does, every waking minute, has been for the good of the realm and its prosperity. However, now, things have died down and have been sorted out well enough that she could take the week off. And who was going to tell her that she didn’t earn it?
Now, why was she doing this? Well, partly for knowledge but partly for experimentation. Recently, Iota has discovered a potential combination of abilities that could prove to be incredibly strong if cultivated in the right area. By drawing out the natural reality-altering properties from every layer of hell that is innate to the layer and then placing it in a small gem created by Gemaga, the ability to alter reality would then be in Iota’s palm. Albeit not very significant, it was still there. Now, imagine that same small portion of power but multiplied, with every layer of hell including 666, and that could cause a catastrophe. At least, to combine and meld together all 666 crystals into a weapon of mass destruction. Actually, she might even take a couple extra to try and revolutionize the science of her people. Imagine, if low-scale reality manipulation was just widely available to the masses, others would think twice about trying to fuck with demons.
Which leads to now, as Iota approached the entrance of hell but was abruptly stopped by a soldier, a soldier that worked for her, wearing her uniform.
“I need to see your papers ma’am.” The look that donned Iota’s face was of pure bewilderment.
“I-what?”
“Papers ma’am, to document your entrance into Hell.”
“But why? Hell isn’t even underneath our jurisdiction, what does it matter if we do or don’t know who goes in or out. What are we even going to do with the information if it proves to be a problem? Bring it up with Death? Who even made this a thing?”
“Uh, previous administration.”
“Wow, that’s idiotic. Uh, from this day forth I will be relieving you of your position and directing our resources towards something more… useful. This is coming from Iota Asthavon, you can tell your commanding officer that as well if it proves to be a problem. I want whatever you got going on here wrapped up and done by the end of the week, got it?”
There was simply a nod in response as Iota began to calm down. While she didn’t completely lose her composure, the situation was one that just caught her off guard. It must have been something she missed in the mountains of paperwork or requests that reach her desk everyday. Eventually it was going to have to go, the only regret that she would have would be that it wasn’t done in a formal manner.
However, with that out of the way, Iota would step into a world she’d always feared while alive but no longer bothers her today.
Hell.
