Doctor's Orders [Abalia, Gamukira]
Wed Mar 31, 2021 5:57 am
Gamukira | Bubblegum Monster
"Ah, excellent you're awake. Ahaha, about time Cap'n. Bad of you to keep a girl waiting like that."
The peppy voice of Gamu spoke through what might've been a bit of haze after coming out of being out for her to run some tests. Normally there'd be a gown or a blanket over her but this was Gamu and modesty was left to the wayside so that she could get a great deal of scans and tests done on Abalia's composition.
Why'd she need to run all these tests anyway? Gamu didn't know but she didn't care to ask. Abalia let her do whatever she wanted for the most part so she couldn't complain.
"Right... Psyche assessment performed by Makise, Kira. Nothing of note beyond your extreme levels of emotional apathy. Oh, you really did just score a flat zero on that test didn't you."
Gamu was reading some reports, the prior general assessments had noted abnormalities. Technicalities. Now it was her turn to find out the cause and oh boy, was it a doozie.
"Better sit down for this one, Cap'n and be proper awake for it."
Given she had Abalia laying on a table, Gamu sure did snicker at her little joke of telling her to sit down. She was so hilarious. Cracked her stretchy body right up she did.

ABALIA KYORAKU-HAYDEN
Most people, in this sort of situation, would have felt rather tremendously uncomfortable. Abalia, however, hardly had any concept of such a thing. Given the circumstances, the least she could do was simply accept whatever it was that her Captain laid out. Did she necessarily enjoy it? No, but she would nevertheless accept the circumstances.
"I believe I am sufficiently awake to give you my full attention, Captain."
Of course, Abalia could still feel the dulling haze which blanketed most of her thoughts, but that was hardly sufficient to keep her from listening to every word. This was rather important, after all.

Aha, good. Not that Gamu cared, if Abalia wasn't taking in every word she said then it was her fault, not the bubblegum captain's fault so who cared. She didn't. Whimsically she giggled and pulled herself to sit up on her desk with various chemicals and coloured solutions behind her but most importantly, a few charts as well.
"Alright, so as the leading expert in Soul Society in regards to soul composition and mechanics. It is my professional opinion which has me so giddy to say how unique your circumstances are!"
A brief pause for her to give some needless applause at the situation. Perfect, wasn't it? Anyway, back to business.
"You see, I've never seen something like you occur naturally. You see it all the time in the creation of artificial souls, defective ones mind you. It's like when the infant is born with a complication. You're kind of broken- no no, half a person, if that makes sense? I'm amazed there's no physical issues. Not even down to your fertility, don't worry I checked and your pregnancy is going smoooooth. Still, you're very much missing pieces of yourself which has resulted in your current state; devoid of emotion and inability to understand basic feelings. It's pretty sexy, honestly."
Ah, she was rambling. She should give Abalia a chance to digest. Gamu even grabbed the charts and gave them to her to read for herself. The humanoid body, certain spots of different colours. Graphs and figures. It all probably made no sense at her level of scientific understanding but Gamu didn't care about that.

While Abalia's degree of scientific understanding was far from the Captain's, she was certainly more intelligent than average, due in no small part to her willingness to learn and her exceptional attention to detail. The full scope of this situation may have been quite decidedly outside of her comprehension, but she was more than intelligent enough to understand the basic principles of it.
"I see. I would have assumed that a situation such as this would most reasonably have accompanied some manner of extreme trauma, am I correct? But I have not undergone any such experiences."
Contemplating the situation, Abalia's focus was quite decidedly on the more pertinent parts of their conversation, and Gamu's asides were more or less completely ignored. Given the quality of her work, Abalia would allow a bit of leeway in her professionalism, particularly in a one-on-one setting.
"I believe this would imply the problem has carried over from a previous life, yes?"

She nodded in response. Well, that was the most likely assumption that Gamu could conclude. There were far more reasons that could exist out there, however Gamu worked off abductive reasoning. Cull possibilities to the most likely conclusion based on the information available. She assumed that Abalia was much the same like that.
"Correct. There are alternatives but those are far more outlandish, also mostly involving direct intervention from someone with the intention to alter you. So extreme trauma's likely the answer for a natural occurence."
Ms. Tight in the butt Captain Commander clicked in quick, she liked that. It was annoying talking to stupid people. It wore down her patience and then she wanted to kill them all the more.
"Mhm, mhm. Something probably messed up in the process of you going through the cycle of reincarnation so you left a bit of yourself out there. If I had to guess, you got partially eaten by a hollow... maybe you were an earth-bound spirit and part of you refused to pass over or you might just be a freak and some part of you ended up falling off one day."
Gamu tapped her chin, oh right. She shouldn't forget. Hand into her haori and pulling out a squirming little gummy snake that was looking cloudy white. The captain walked up to her superior and held it over her face.
"Hey, open wide. This'll neutralise all the anaesthesia left in your body. Don't want you falling over or going into respiratory depression when you go on your way. Gah, it'll look weird if we have to send you out all beat up."
The gummy worm really did make this small mumuring sound, it was just a gummy soul though. Nothing to be at all concerned about. Sure, she could make them without some level of autonomy but that was boring to Gamu. Cats didn't like dead mice, they liked to torture them first.

"I see. Given I am not one of those fortunate few who have reincarnated with their memories completely intact, I suppose I have no way of knowing."
Frankly, Abalia at no point considered that sort of situation as anything other than a blessing. She was certainly aware that some with their memories were constantly weighed down by the distinction between past and present life, and that some suffered severe crises of identity. She, however, was not mentally unsound.
As Gamu offered her the gummy, Abalia took only a moment or two to study it. She was not particularly concerned about it, nor about the murmuring it made. She was, after all, entirely aware of Gamu's general methodology, particularly considering she had been the one to authorize the vast majority of it. So, she simply did as the captain requested, and swallowed it with little hesitation.
"Do you believe this sort of defect would carry through multiple cycles? To my understanding, the souls does not maintain its form in totality through each reincarnation. Given its mutability, this degree of damage would suggest this occurred in my most recent incarnation, correct?"

"Okay, now that was extra sexy."
Gamu muttered it. Abalia was single wasn't she? Ah, no. Gamu couldn't do that, this woman might've just murdered a poor soul. It's not like Gamu kept track of what ended up where when she made these gummy souls, regardless it spoke to the apex predator part in her. What a way to catch her off guard like that without any hesitation, why did she have a stupid little grin on her face as she continued? Who knew.
"Right. That would be correct, I've ran tests on it myself actually. The defects only get worse and worse as the process continues. It's like inbreeding, I suppose if I was to refer to the symptoms. The process? Not so much. You are correct though that as the broken soul continues to go through the cycle it will continue to degrade in every incarnation. So you are likely a result on your most recent one."
She was just so worked up right now! It must be Abalia's spunk that got to her.
"Now, while I'd love to tell you that I can just stick some extra bits in you and fill in those holes. I can't really just do that, I could but at that point you'd be more of a chimera than yourself and become something new and more unstable. Maybe if I did hollowfy you, the soul might fix itself but that's a bit maybe and rather than becoming a vizard you'd probably just become a hollow- also even if you did become a vizard you might not even get what you wanted out of it. Just baggage."
What a mouthful, just to get to this part.
"My point is, I need the rest of your soul to fix your pretty little defects and so you better hope the missing part is in one piece and not multiple little bits you need to rummage around and collect. Get me? Want more gummies by the way? You know chewing them is way more fun than just swallowing, right?"

Abalia naturally heard that comment, but made no acknowledgement of it. It was improper, but she did not particularly care about that line of thinking one way or the other.
"I see. Given that is the case, it would be in my best interest to seek out the missing piece of my soul. Will I be in any immediate danger if I delay in that search? Given the nature of this condition, it would not surprise me to learn that there is some relatively immediate danger."
Thoroughly unfortunate, if that did indeed prove true. However, she would not ruminate on the matter either way.
"No, thank you. I believe one is sufficient, though the offer is appreciated."

She pondered it, the question she was asked. There was a faint tad of disappointment that came to mind when she heard Abalia decline. What a pragmatic woman she was. Gamu really wanted her, right now. What'd she do with Abalia if she possessed her? She didn't know, eat her probably. The captain advanced and leaned over her, with how tall she was it didn't really matter to her how Abalia was positioned.
Was she in any immediate danger? She knew it was not done antagonistically but this was the only person, aside from a stupid little boy captain of a certain division though that was from stupidity, that didn't fear her. Abalia wasn't stupid, therefore she discerned that the captain commander was just that sure of herself that she posed more of a threat than Gamu did.
"You've been fine up until now, I think you're more likely to hurt others more than yourself at this point. Either way, the most immediate danger... is always me."
She said it cheerily, giving Abalia a gaze that dared her to challenge. She had heard of the captain commander's attributes, she had no power behind her body though. Gamu just let her think on those words for the moment, the most respectful thing she did for her superior was let her have the first move. Let her make it count while her posture was clearly aggressive. Playful or not? It was hard to tell when Gamu was joking or not, that's why they were Gamu jokes.

ABALIA KYORAKU-HAYDEN
At first, Abalia had allowed Gamu to simply do as she willed, with no particular consideration for her usual standards of propriety. However, this had now very decidedly gone over the line. It moved well past a mere lack of professionalism into what could only be called insubordination at the most generous. To threaten Abalia, particularly as her subordinate, was to invoke her most resolute ire.
"I suggest you do not threaten me, Captain."
Though her words may have been rather plain, her tone and her gaze were far from it. There was, in fact, no restraint in it at all, not even that which she had afforded others who were met with her gaze. The very air itself now seemed hostile to Gamu's existence, as if the whole of the world was looking down upon her like the lowest of prey. Abalia's eyes, however, remained the most piercing thing of all, their gaze seeming so all-consuming that it may as well have been impossible to avoid.
"No matter where you may place yourself, I will always be above you. You would do well to consider where below me you wish to be, else you will find that you are simply an insect."
Abalia was, frankly, much more capable of outright threats to those who were in the upper echelons of strength. They did not need to be protected, and in fact quite often seemed to hold themselves accountable to no one. Abalia, however, always believed in giving those who failed her the opportunity to earnestly mend their outlook. The question was only if Gamu would choose to do so, or if she would need to be discarded.
