AMIDA KENPACHI

Amida definitely didn't care much for the Soul Society, and she would have preferred to get the fuck out as soon as possible. But in the meantime she was just here, so fuck it, she'd at least go spend time away from the Seireitei. God, but it was so fucking loud out here. She just wanted to relax.

"Hey, gimme a barley shochu, no ice."

As soon as the cup hit the counter, Amida took a long drink from it, pouring yet another cup for herself and swirling it around in her cup. Man, this place was horrible.

Sweeping the floor of the saloon, Elyss didn’t much care for the everyday happenings within the place. Ever since she had worked here, the nuisances that happened on a daily basis have long since faded. It seems with everything going on, the reformation and such, the Rukongai has slowly begun becoming a more civilized place. Her grandparent’s business has only succeeded with the changing climate. Now, with the troublemakers dealt with, the honest people that enjoy the homely atmosphere come and go like the ever changing tides. Elyss had decided to visit while she’s on her leave from work. She did not expect to be asked for help in keeping the place clean.

She didn’t mind it. This sort of work keeps her mind distracted. She’s been busy thinking all day. It’s not to just let go and move automatically. Though, she was soon called over to help run the bar. Seems another pair of hands is needed to appease all the customers. Luckily, she’s not bad at this. When a woman came in asking for a specific drink, she went to work getting everything situated. And, soon, a barley shochu, no ice was placed before the woman. This was quickly followed by a loud crash. Another person had accidentally knocked their drink over onto another. And, when two drunk people agitate one another, even a little bit, it can spiral into something messy. Elyss didn’t jump to settle it, thinking that it might not prove a problem, especially with her grandma there. However, that didn’t seem the case as the two men’s voices rose and one ended up pushing the other. This would then bump into the woman that Elyss had just served.

AMIDA KENPACHI

Oh, now wasn't that just a grand old time. It had been one thing to just be noisy, but now they were really getting pretty irritating. Turning around with a thoroughly murderous glare, Amida stood and gripped both men by the collars, her relatively short stature not seeming to matter too terribly much as she started dragging them both toward the door.

"Most people come to the bar to get away from the noise, you know. Get a nice drink to wind down. If you fucking morons want to make a racket, be my guest, but do it somewhere that I'm not."

As she reached the front door, Amida tossed the two out with a rather impressive degree of force, though it seemed rather apparent that she hadn't strained herself much at all in the effort. Returning to her seat, still grumbling all the while, Amida just slammed back another glass of shochu. She needed it now.

With a sigh, Elyss moved, an annoyed edge with each step towards the two hooligans. However, she’d not reach them before the woman she had just served rose, herself. Expecting for this situation to turn into an all out brawl, Elyss had taken off her apron and moved from behind the counter, but her eyes would take heed of how easily the other woman handled the two men. Normally, drunkards are hard to settle down without a bit of force, and that force easily starts something more than intended. For things like this to be resolved, it required one with far greater strength than the other. The ease at which everything occurred is but proof that the other woman is someone not to be trifled with.

“Huh…”

Elyss didn’t say anything at first, not until her grandparents had exclaimed how wonderfully the woman had handled that. That left the redhead a bit sour. She can feel the adrenaline in her blood moving, but now it’s nothing but wasted energy. Moving back behind the bar, she would skip putting back on her apron and grab a bottle of what the woman had previously ordered, placing it down on the counter next to the woman. Elyss’ black eyes would focus on the other woman’s face, taking in her looks to try and get a feel for the woman.

“Thanks for handling that. Was almost expecting a brawl to start.”

She’d start it off with just a quick observation to test the waters. For all she knows, the other woman may not want to talk. She does want her peaceful drinking after all.

AMIDA KENPACHI

"Huh? Oh. Don't worry about it. I figure you don't want me spilling their guts on the floor, and that's really the least I can do for how nice the service is."

Amida studied the redhead in front of her, and she could tell at just a glance that she was tensed all to kingdom come. Probably got herself all ready for a good old fashioned throwdown. Checked out, she did have some muscle underneath those curves. Honestly, she looked like she was ready to pop out a few kids.

"You all good there? Look like you're about to shatter that bottle if you hold it any tighter. Lemme guess, wanted to get in a few swings yourself?"

Her tone of voice wasn't especially teasing or anything, more just a dry observation. After all, Amida wasn't really the sort to fuck around with jokes when she just wanted a drink and a chat.

“I’m used to dealing with troublemakers is all.”

Her response is just as dry as she released her grip on the bottle. It’s just annoying to get ready for something but to have it never come. But, that’s just how things are sometimes. Her body will calm down with time. At least the woman didn’t mind conversation. Knowing that her presence isn’t troublesome, Elyss would take this opportunity to take a break. So, she’d lean against the counter and blow some air out of her mouth.

“So, guessing you’re quite strong, huh?”

What else is she supposed to talk about right now? It’s probably weird to have a chat about one’s body in a casual setting right after what just occurred, but Elyss isn’t sure how to make conversation without keeping it relevant to recent events. At least she’s not making baseless accusations. As much as the woman can see that she’s built for combat, Elyss can make out the same.

AMIDA KENPACHI

"Hey, same. Mine were a little smaller though, spent a year or so biting my tits. They still give me a headache now and again."

Being a mother had been rewarding, of course. She wouldn't have done it so many times if she'd hated it. But Amida definitely wasn't the sort to lie about that kind of thing, though she realized after she'd said it that she was lightening the mood now, making jokes. Guess she was lightening up a little.

"Yeah, you could say that. Used to have something of a name around here, though. Least before that Foundation showed up. What a joke."

Amida didn't honestly care that much about the title, really. She'd mostly gotten it so people would leave her alone. But, well, it did hurt a woman's pride just a little bit.

“Foundation?”

The baby comment did interest a tad, but what could she say to continue that topic? She doesn’t have kids and has no plans on having any soon. It’s not that she hates children either. She’s sure she’s not mother material at all, not right now at least. This foundation thing sounds interesting however. Ignorant to the finer details surrounding the Gotei and its affiliates. Elyss isn’t sure what the other woman is talking about. However, it has something to do with a title, and if that title is related to one’s strength… Well, she’s allowed to be interested in something like that, yeah?

AMIDA KENPACHI

"Ah, yeah..."

On one hand, Amida didn't especially like talking about herself. In fact, she pretty much hated it the vast majority of the time. But this girl at least seemed okay, reminded her of herself a little bit. Besides, drinking and conversation was usually better than just drinking.

"You ever hear of that Kenpachi Foundation they started up? Something about helping people get stronger, teaching all these rough and tumble idiots how to get even more rough and tumble. Get good enough and they'll call ya Kenpachi, on authority of ol' Ibiki Kenpachi herself. Wild, right?"

Amida chuckled humorlessly at the thought, rolling her eyes just thinking about the whole thing.

"What a joke. Handing out the name like a participation trophy. Used to mean something, even if everyone who got it always seemed like their reason sucked. Ah, well, that was part of the charm I guess."

“Kenpachi Foundation?”

That sounds familiar. Elyss is sure she’s never used that name before, but someone around her has. It’s a place to help people get stronger? Well, she doesn’t see anything wrong with that initially, but it sounds like this Kenpachi title is more than what it seems. It used to mean something? What did it mean? The redhead is awfully curious. Something connected with being strong and such of course catches her attention. She’s never gloating about her strength, but she does enjoy the small fact that people know she’s not one to be trifled with. It makes all her training seem worthwhile.

“Well, if you acquired the name, that means you did something correct to get it, even if for a dumb reason. However, ya make it seem like being a Kenpachi isn’t what it used to be. What did it mean?”

She’d ask this question with her Stoic expression growing soft, each second allowing more curiosity to shine in her eyes. Elyss isn’t one to show genuine anything on her face, so the fact she’s interested in finding out more tells the tale alone.
