I. Basic Information

» Name: Libellula Neroso
» Age: 174. Apparent age is mid-twenties.
» Gender: Female

» Association: Was once a part of a loose coalition of Hollows soon after becoming an Arrancar. She now wanders Hueco Mundo alone.

» Appearance Written: Libellula is tall, standing at 180cm. Her hair is a pure, almost snow-like white, and her eyes are a vibrant blue. She is relatively powerfully built, more a result of living in the tumultuous world of Hueco Mundo. Her state of dress is chaotic, much of which has been pillaged from corpses she's come across; she wears a pair of black suit pants, a blue buttoned shirt and a short dark red coat that she usually wears closed. She also has a noticably prominent chest, normally concealed beneath her large coat. Her Zanpakuto is held on a strap over her back, due to it's longer then average size. At a glance, she has a relatively upbeat expression, but this is genuinely a facade, hiding her tortured and broken personality.

Her hollow mask fragment take the form of four strips that run on both sides of her upper and lower ribs, wrapping around to her back, akin to a dragonfly's wings.

II. Personality

» Personality: Whilst displaying a cheeky, almost charming exterior when one first encounters her, Libellula's interior is anything but. The ingrained memories, even if she does not truly remember them, of her human life have left her innately shaken, creating in-built trust issues that echoes into her every action. At the core of it, Libellula suffers from a deep, shocking depression that she hides with an almost manic attitude that creates an illusion-like impression of severe insanity - she believes herself to be fully sane, but bits of pieces of how she acts indicates she is teetering on the end. She utterly rejects the possibility of companionship, of having allies, but at the same time, even passively, seeks them out, as if to chance at the opportunity of mending her wounded psyche. This twisted mentality hasn't helped her self-outlook - despite an irreverent attitude that serves as her facade, Libellula despises what she is, the result of all that she had lived through over the century and a half - even if she doesn't remember it all.

Her almost frightening reaction to encountering others - creating a raving, frightening facade - is simply the first line in keeping others away from her. Where once she attempted to reach out to Hollows and Arrancar - only to be betrayed - she meets anyone attempting to even physically come close (let alone emotionally) with the threats of violence and worse. She avoids battle when she can, but once conflict is joined her vibrant personality reemerges with a more bloodthirsty edge to it.

Despite this, she has slowly come to resent the isolation and solitude her inbuilt issues have thrust upon her, but is simply trapped in a cycle of both want of companionship and the manic shoving away of anyone who even thinks of coming close. She yearns to laugh with another, yet fears the inevitable betrayal.

III. History

» History: Libellula was not the name she was bron with - it is simply the name she chose once she emerged as an Arrancar. Libellula was born in Milan, Italy. Born into an upper-class family, the young Libellula was well educated and quickly displayed a staggering amount of skill in musical crafts - specifically, the violin. Upon becoming a teenager, Libellula was quickly put to work by her parents - specifically to charm and endear her family to their business partners. Unbeknowest to her, her family had made it's fortune in the dark - organised crime, a kidnapping here and there, but most of all in the drug traded. Libellula was totally in the dark to all of this; having few friends due to her family's influence, despite her charming and positive demeanour, weighed heavily on her, and so she worked as hard as she could for the doting affection of her family. As she grew older, she could sense that things weren't all as they seemed, but her parents loved her. She was beloved by them, and by her family's allies. She could live like this.

Things began to fall apart once she turned seventeen. As she neared the end of her education, she finally found a friend - another young woman, who after a few months, began to reciprocate feelings of attraction. Libellula and this young woman were truly in love, and whilst her parents expressed disapproval, Libellula was happy. The fact that she'd found someone who cared about her this much, let alone a friend at all, thrilled her, and she did pretty much anything she was told. Her family was satisfied as long as she still played the violin - her talent had taken her from playing for small crowds of her family's associates, to bigger and bigger venues - all to earn her family and their friend's more black money.

Unfortunately, this was to be the end of everything. Without telling her parents, Libellula went hiking with her partner. She'd never been an athletic person, and she bit off a little more then she chewed. Whilst climbing a particularly dangerous section, a piece of loose earth broke away. Her entire balance slipped, and the next thing she knew, she'd tumbled nearly a hundred metres - not seriously harmed, sans her broken arm. When her love had found a way to get her back to Milan, Libellula's family were enraged; she wouldn't be able to use her broken arm for months, and she'd had a whole set of performances lined up. No performances, all of which were fronts for more dodgy dealings, meant a lot of lost profit, and they were almost psychotic in rage. Libellula was terrified - she'd never seen her parents act in such a manner.

She was their darling girl, after all... right?

They didn't tell Libellula the truth, but it wasn't long until she found out; being stuck at home with a broken arm, she slowly found clues as to what her family was really doing, especially as the months went on with no performances they grew more and more cruel to her. It all culminated in her confronting her parents, as if she could fix everything they'd done. Their response nearly broke her. She knew her parents were in deep - she didn't know they'd reached the highest ranks of the Italian Mafia. What she thought were just a bit of drug dealing and blackmailing had expanded into kidnapping and human trafficking, the connections of which had been created in back rooms and after-events of Libellula's own performances. Worst of all, they'd just used her to hide their won efforts. After all, at this point she was a musical icon of Milan, or Italy overall; the teenage violin prodigy. Finally, she learnt the truth. Her parents had simply been using her, ever since she grew skilled with the violin. Her fame in Milan had created so many opportunities to expand the black market dealings. And when Libellula confronted them, asked them why they never told, why they used her so, they simply laughed at her. Once, they told her, they'd cared for her. They'd loved her as she was. But when she'd become famous, when she opened the doors to their black dealings, they realised she was far more useful then just as a daughter - she was the perfect tool to expand the influence of their family - to make them one of the most powerful families in Italy. Horrified, Libellula felt a terrible, horrifying sense of betrayal echo through her. The two people she looked up to the most... and they'd just admitted to not loving her for nearly a decade.

Libellula ran away. Her plan was to run to her love's side - to elope, to get away - anything to get away from the monsters who just used to her to fuel dark desires.

Luck was not on her side. After everything that happened, Libellula found herself in the wrong place at the wrong side. Perhaps it was her despair, her terror at what her parents had used her for, what they had done to her love. Perhaps, without ever knowing, her soul had held a notable amount of spiritual energy. Whatever the reason, as she ran through the streets of Milan, somewhere, anywhere, a Hollow emerged, snuffing her life out of existence and turning her broken soul into a Hollow. Her memories become even more fragmented here, and whilst she roamed as a insect-like Hollow for some time, the next vague memories she held planted her as a Menos.

For nearly a century and a half, the Menos Libellula's soul occupied wandered The Forest of Menos for nearly a century and a half, her despair, her bitterness, and her hatred for those she could not remember, yet knew had used her, slowly boiled away. Slowly, slowly, her soul became the pilot, the most powerful fragment of the Menos.

She pitched the Menos from a mighty cliff, seeking to end her despair, her terrible thoughts of self-loathing and betrayal. She seeked an end to an existence. And if the rocks below had struck through the Menos's core, and not just shattered the mask of the being she held sway over, perhaps she had.

Instead, the Menos Libellula controlled became something else. An Arrancar.

Libellula, the raw being on the sands decided. That was her name. No longer Hollow, yet...still Hollow, in nature. Her body was very humanoid, yet long, bone-like streaks rang over her back, hanging over her shoulders and lower ribs, like... a libellula. It meant something, something she didn't remember, and yet she did. Yes, she decided. She'd chosen her name well. Grasping the sword she did not understand and yet felt so intricately linked to, she began to walk. For an unknown amount of time she wandered, finding her way out of the Forest of Menos, and into Hueco Mundo's desert, proper. Many Hollows she came across avoided her utterly, but after a long time, a band of nearly a dozen Hollow reached out to her. They offered her their services, as they realised she was new to the life of an Arrancar, and they needed protection from the predators who feasted upon them.

It was a simple life, but Libellula was content. The Hollows seemed to genuinely enjoy her company, and she protected them from the average Hollows who would prey on them. She didn't know how powerful her new form was, but no Hollow was like her. She protected, they guided her through what an Arrancar was, and soon, Libellula understood what it meant to be an Arrancar. And with that information, she was content. Until they were beset upon by another Arrancar. A powerful one. It leapt upon their simple squad of Hollows that Libellula led, eating a third of their number. She attempted to defend them, but she could do nothing - her relative inexperience with being an Arrancar, and weaker spiritual presence led to her just being decimated by the Adjuchas, to the point it left her in the sands, laughing at her weakness. When it left them behind, Libellula attempted to reconvene with her Hollow companions, but they simply backed away, disgusted. As if they cared about her, they told her. They'd used her for protection, going along with her inexperience and naive attitude to companionship - traits they found little more then pathetic. They laughed at how they used her, and taunted at her weakness. And when, in their overconfidence, they attempted to simply consume Libellula, to become like the being who'd eaten many their number...

The rage, the sadness, the betrayal. The feelings that had burned as a human, forgotten by memory but retained by her very self. The rage, the sadness, the betrayal. The feelings that had pushed her to the forefront of the Menos, and had made herself attempt to end her existence. The rage, the sadness, the betrayal. The feeling no longer just memory as a human, and existence as a Menos, but her reality, betrayed by those she'd called companions, even friends. No more, she decided. For however long she still walked these sands, she'd walk it alone. And ever so slightly, with the memories of all three existences pressing in at her, her psyche snapped.

And now, betrayed by even the lowest dregs of existence, Libellula wandered Hueco Mundo, alone, seeking a point to her existence, and left to wonder why she did not die in these sands as a Menos all those years ago. She left the corpses of the Hollows she called her companions behind, broken, the first example of her now awakened abilities. Her abilities reject everyone around her, and her mind does so, too - but deep inside, a flame of desire, of a chance of a connection still burns, ever so faintly within. The mad Arrancar of Hueco Mundo, some called her sometimes.

Maybe she was a little mad.

V. Racial Techniques/Abilities/Skills

» Racial Abilities: [You can put any customized racial skills/abilities/techniques in here. These can range from cero/bala, hierro and anything else you want to add. Feel free to skip it]

VI. Sealed Powers

» Zanpakutô Name: La Sinfonia

» Zanpakutô Appearance: La Sinfonia is an odachi, and due to it's length is usually held on Libellula's back. The blade is almost completley white, though there are a number of black 'cracks' covering the length of the blade, though in reality the blade holds no imperfections.

» Unique Power: Libellula's mask fragments that stretch onto her back can extend and rub against one another, creating a spherical zone around thirty metres diameters that is filled with a maddening, extremely high-pitched noise that should affect most who have no serious forms of audio protection. Libellula is not affected, and does not have to actively activate the ability, as it can be triggered by particularly strong emotional response, such as terror, anger, or something else akin to that. Additionally, anything within the sound zone has it's position revealed to her, as a form of echolocation.

VII. Resurrección

» Resereccion Name: Orquesta

» Resereccion Release Phrase: Play, La Sinfonia

» Release Actions: Libellula holds her blade up over her shoulder, akin to the bow of a violin, before stating it's release phrase.

» Resereccion Appearance: Upon releasing her sword, Libellula grows even taller, nearing two metres in height. Two thin, web-like wings stick outwards, whilst a second pair are passively wrapped around her form at her lower ribs. The four wings match the positions of her Hollow mask fragments on her non-released form. The rest of Libellula's torso takes a mottled dark purple appearance, akin to almost slimy-looking scales. Her head remained mostly unchanged, but her eyes (despite staying the same size) have become akin to compound eyes, a shining sea of blue sapphires. Additionally, her arms have notably bulked up, creating a strange disconnect between her thin, dragonfly-like wings and her powerful arms. Due to this, she can hold her odachi-like sword with one hand once released.

La Sinfonia is split into two separate 'blades' - one remains the white, simple longsword of her unreleased state, the second taking the form of a violin's bow, which Libellula uses to 'play' her abilities. A violin, consisting entirely of spiritual energy, floats beside her.

» Resereccion Abilities:

First Movement: Introduction.

Libellula rapidly plays a short sequence of notes, ranging from two to eight. For every two notes she plays, up up to four weapons. The weapons appear in the order of a sword, a spear, an axe, and a shield. Libellula, can use her voice to control the weapons, akin to a song to aim them - at her current level, she can only actively control one item at a time. She must play First Movement: Introduction to use Second Movement: Conflict.

Second Movement: Conflict.

Libellula plays another eight note tune, this time singing softly along with it. One of the weapons, any of her choosing beside the shield (if more then one are available) moves to her hand, replacing the bow half of her weapon. Any other summoned weapons remain in use as per First Movement: Introduction. The weapon Libellula uses, when swung projects a blast of spiritual energy akin to visual music, varying depending on weapon. When using the sword, it fires a blast of moderate size, power and speed. The axe creates a much larger and more powerful blast, yet is much smaller, and the spear is much narrower, but stronger and faster then the sword. At will, she can re-summon her violin bow, de-summoning the current weapon, requiring it to be re-summoned with First Movement: Introduction.

Compound Eyes: Libellula's compound eyes grant her extreme visual clarity and tracking, being extremely sensitive to enemy movement.

IX. Role Play Sample

» Roleplay Sample:

They were coming towards her. Three of them, your garden variety, beast-like Hollows. Libellula sighed, the quickning in her chest growing as it always did. She stopped her aimless stride, staring at the three still making their way towards her. Their bloodlust was clear - they were looking for a meal, and in her experience, she'd found two kinds of Hollows that'd come after an Arrancar like her. Ones so desperate for a meal they'd make a move that borders on suicidal to satiate their need, or cocky enough they'd take on an Arrancar, even one as unassuming and harmless-looking as Libellula.

"Hey, hey, hey!" Libelluala called out across the sands, waving off the Hollows striding towards her. The quickning in her chest was growing faster, and she was in no mood for this. Not now. "I saw a biiiiig Menos corpse an hour thataway!" She waved her hand towards the west, hoping they'd go for it. She wasn't lying, anyway. They didn't take her bait. They kept coming, hunger basically visible. "Come on guys, you don't want to come after a thin piece of meat like me!" She laughed, her eyes wide, pleading. Go away, go away, her eyes pleaded.

They didn't stop. So she had to stop them.

She felt the strange feeling of her back mask fragments stretching out towards each other, and then they became to rub, producing The Sound. Two of the Hollows went to their knees, the sound screaming into their skulls. One of the Hollows, likely their leader, continued to stagger on, the need to feed alight in their eyes. Libellula took a step back, not out of fear, not out of any remote danger. She'd learnt long ago most Hollows posed no danger to her, but she didn't want to be close. She didn't want to have to do this. The Hollow let out a mighty roar, leaping towards her, drool and a variety of other unknown liquids gushing from it's mouth.

In a moment, Libellula's sword was out, penetrating the Hollow in an instant, it's mask a look of shock, even as it still gnashed it's teeth.

"I... warned you, you damned bottom-feeding beast." She snarled, twisting the odachi slightly within the Hollow, drawing out it's pain ever so slightly. She raised her voice, shaky as it was, as her defensive sound wore away, the other two Hollows slowly getting to their feet. "You keep the fuck away from me, and I'll just go on on my lonesome, as it's meant to be." She pulled her blade from the lead Hollow, and as he turned to dust, she turned and stared at the other two, who stood frozen with fear at her. A huge grin stretched over her features, and she saw the fear in their eyes.

"GET AWAY FROM ME!" She screamed, and the sound kicked up once again. The Hollows let out one last roar of terror and fled, leaving Libellula alone, as it was meant to be, in the desert. She sighed, putting her blade back in her back sheath. One day she'd get the message out. She'd just want to be left alone, left alone, left alone. And then things will be okay. She can pass eternity, not in danger, not being used.

Just... alone. Like she wanted.

So why didn't the quickening in her chest leave her, if this was what she'd been working for?

  • Comments/Notes: My one concern is that your unique ability reads more like it's something racial rather than tied to your zanpakuto, however it's not app breaking and thus not really necessary for you to move. That being said, I like your writing but you did not seem to write a terribly strong character, so I'm not going to give you the rank of one. But do not that your skills have been recognized and welcome to PH!
