He knew that Calypso was just as stubborn as he was -- maybe even more. He figured that she still wouldn't accept it, even if it was from his own lips. He simply waited as she fell silent, his gaze turning away from her as his thumb gently brushed over hers, only for her fingers to suddenly turn to claws, digging into the flesh of his hand, causing him to flinch as he noticed the tail thrashing behind her, and then what she said hit him.

To say he was taken aback was an understatement. As seconds went by, Vanyel's face slowly turned a deep shade of red, eyes going wide as what she said fully processed. He opened his mouth to say something, but no words came. Leaning back as she got closer, his eyes only went wider as she continued. The thought of having a family with Calypso was something that spanned back to the day before.

But, before he could even begin thinking about that, there was the final nail.

Vanyel Asthavon.

The human's lip quivered slightly as he stared as Calypso, watching as her face broke out into an adorable prismatic blush before looking away. He let out a quiet chuckle as he wordlessly leaned forward, taking his lover's chin in hand before pressing his lips to hers, squeezing her hand tightly, holding her in either hand even after the kiss broke. His voice was hushed, and his eyes were soft.

"Gotta say...Vanyel Asthavon doesn't sound half-bad."

A slight grin spread across his face as he slowly moved to lean over the bed, picking up his jacket from the floor and rummaging through one of the pockets.

"But, if I'm takin' the name and if you want to make a family..."

He trailed off, his face turning a deeper shade of red as he pulled out a black box from the pocket, holding it out to her and opening it up, revealing a ring inside.

"...One last bit of human rites from me. I...want to make you mine, officially. I love you, Calypso. Now until the end of time."

Spoiler:

Despite his body feeling like it was on fire -- an effect that was even worse on his face -- Vanyel could ignore the growing pain for a little bit longer. Here and now, the woman in front of him was more important.

Caly felt her face practically melt with embarrassment - She couldn't believe she let something like that slip, that little desire she kept far in the back of her mind. She didn't think he would feel able to now, to want that kind of thing, or rather if he'd ever feel that way.. For it to fall from her lips like this, especially during such a painful time for him, she couldn't help but feel shame.

However, she didn't sense anything but pure love from Vanyel, and such sentiments were locked with a kiss, the demon feeling the strong warmth of his lips against her own, a heavy breath being loosed as the kiss broke, staring into his feverish eyes as he mused about the name not sounding half bad.

Calypso bit her lip as she would laugh softly in response, entertaining that little musing, however her smile faltered as she saw him lean towards the floor. Afraid she'd have to catch him, her clawed hands reached out slightly, but stopped as she saw him purposefully rummage through his jacket, to pull out a small dark box.

A look of confusion flashed on her features as she watched him, but her eyes then widened as she saw what was contained in such a thing.

A ring.

Calypso swore she felt every color in the spectrum rush through her blood as he presented it, with such sweet words. Her physical form simply did not stay humanoid, it couldn't from that level of surprise. Black scales appeared all over her body, four horns bursting from the sides of her head, eyes flickered to red, as her clawed hands had slapped over her mouth, her wild wings bursting from her back, but thankfully at a reduced size. She truly looked quite draconic, as tears filled her eyes.

But they weren't tears of sadness, they were tears of joy.

"...Vanyel..."

She reached her beastly hands out to grasp his, cradling the box containing the ring in his hands as her sharp red eyes looked to his,

"..Yes. Absolutely, yes..!"

Gently, she would grasp the box between two claws, shutting it and releasing a labored sigh as she would bring him into a tight hug,

"I would love to marry you... But let's get through this first... You're burning up."

She had brought up the topic of making a family with him -- calling him Vanyel Asthavon too, and through the haze of heat and the high of her blood, Vanyel could only think of what he had wanted to do in the event that something like this happened. He didn't even think twice before holding out that little box for her. Part of him was scared -- what would she say?

He watched as her form shifted and morphed, turning from her regular human form into something more draconic, slamming a claw over her mouth before she took the box, and when he saw tears start to well up in her eyes, Vanyel's heart began to sink. But, as her hand wrapped around his own, her scarlet gaze peering at him, before finally pulling him into a hug, Vanyel let out a weak, shaky sigh as a wave of relief crashed over him.

"Fuck...that really scared me for a minute there."

He let out a soft chuckle, letting his lover hold him, his arms had grown too weak to do much of anything more. His eyelids fluttered for a moment as his head swayed slightly. The heat was getting worse than ever...his heart felt like it was going to burst out of his chest -- each and every beat felt like someone was slamming a hammer against him, he could feel his head pulsing and pounding like his heart, and it hurt. His voice started slurring again, sounding even quieter than before.

"Sorry if it ain't a design you liked, I wanted to keep it a surprise..."

His voice trailed off as he started to slump over. His breathing grew heavier and more labored, the human struggling to focus on anything in front of him. His skin had gradually started to turn redder as his body got more heated. The stinging was even worse, like needles piercing his skin over and over again. He wanted to scream, but nothing came out, only warm tears, grunts of pain, and heavy breathing.

It felt like his soul itself was being set on fire, burning away every last trace of his humanity to replace it with the blood of a devil.

She softly laughed as she held him, sighing softly, "I know. I know it did. I'm sorry, I was just... Shocked."

She could feel his body only getting hotter and hotter, a sinking feeling becoming obvious as she knew the worst of it was about to begin. He was practically boiling, sensing he was only becoming more out of touch with the real world with his mind suffering from the heated haze.

"No, no Vanyel. I love it. We can talk about it later, I promise. Right now I need to take care of you."

Worry wracked her heart as her breath was shaken and bothered upon Vanyel's struggling becoming more than apparent, his voice trailing off as his body slumped over from the heat. She felt her chest tighten, placing a hand on his flesh, of which she swore was steaming.

"I.. I'll.. I'll make the room colder!"

Firmly placing her hands on the bed sheets, she focused, inhaling and exhaling as she tuned herself to her energy and desires, before softly speaking her wishes into existence,

"I wish for this room to cool down, to help Vanyel.."

Her energy passlng along to the entire room felt like a chilly breeze of air as ice appeared to spiderweb from her position, to the ground, to the walls, until it thoroughly wrapped the entire room in a thick layer of ice. Despite this, no furniture or anything else seemed affected by the ice being layered atop it, Calypso's lip quivering as she looked to Vanyel,

"Okay.. I.. I can't move my hands from my position or else the ice'll disappear, but.. Are... Are you feeling any better?"

His mind felt so foggy as it pulsed and pounded in his skull, sending a new wave of pain through him as the seconds went by. He felt his body gently land against the sheets, his eyes starting to close as he gritted his teeth tightly, gripping the sheets weakly with his hand. He felt her hand press against his chest, and he could have sworn that, compared to her, she was as cold as ice.

He could hardly focus on what she was saying, squinting at her as she spoke, hearing her say something about the room...

As if saying the word invoked the feeling, a sudden chill came over him as he slowly turned his head to the side, seeing that the walls, floor, and ceiling had been covered in a thick layer of ice. The cool air made it easier to breathe, and Vanyel took in a slow, but deep breath, turning his head back to Calypso and nodding softly, adjusting his hands so that he could attempt to push himself back into a sitting position, only for a sharp pain to force him down on his back again.

His teeth clenched tightly again, strangled cries of pain coming from the human as a new set of tears started to well up in his eyes.

"Fuck...! I-It's...easier to breathe, at least. Now that the heat's gone, it just feels like I'm being stabbed with burning knives all over...!"

The man doubled over, wrapping his arms around himself and curling up as he screamed out into the sheets, his body starting to tremble as it fought with the room trying to cool him down, while his body tried to heat up more and more. His breathing quickly went from normal to erratic once again, hyperventilating as a hand slowly rose to his mouth, feeling a sharp pain coming from his jaw as if something was trying to force their way out of his gums.

She was relieved to hear that he was calming down, sensing the pain go down... For all but a minute. She had smiled at him, but her smile quickly turned into shock as she sensed the suffering from the sharp pain inside of him, her watching and listening to him for a minute before she determined that cooling the room down wasn't going to help anymore. She needed to hold him, her heart beating out of her chest as she prayed lifting the cooling wouldn't backtrack them too much, removing her hands from their place as the room quickly reverted back to normal.

She rushed to hold him in her arms, panting softly as she tried to keep his head close to her chest, a comforting measure as she tried to think of what to do to soothe him,

"Oh my gods Vanyel, oh my gods.."

She whimpered helplessly as she held him close to her body, swallowing hard as she would then place her hand on his body, "Okay.. Okay i'm going to have to use desire to help the pain go down, okay? Come on, you have to want it, with me. You have to or it won't go down - I can't dull the pain on my own."

Vanyel's eyes shot back open as he felt the cold air quickly vanishing, starting to panic for a moment, afraid that it would set him back and it would just make everything worse. His lip started to quiver as he turned his head to try and face Caly, only to swiftly be brought into her arms, feeling his head press against her chest -- her body still feeling so, so cold compared to his own.

He felt her hand on his body, and he looked up to face her, his eyes darting around erratically as she spoke, nodding softly. His voice came out in a hushed, almost raspy whisper as the heat of his body had started to dry his throat up.

"I...I want it. I want the pain to go away...please."

Despite how quiet he was, there was still pain, sorrow, and fear in his voice as he rested in her arms. As he made his desire known, he felt a soothing wave of energy flow over him, gradually numbing the pain. It still was there, but it was nowhere near as intense as it had been before. The human slowly started to relax, his fingers loosening their grip as his eyes closed halfway.

"Thank you, Caly...thank you, thank you, thank you..."

Through shaky breaths and brief twitches as he flinched and made quiet cries of pain as it came through in small waves, a hand slowly rose to his mouth, opening and feeling around his teeth. He winced as he felt something poke his finger and pulled it out, seeing a tiny stream of blood pooling from the pinprick.

"I think something's going on with my mouth...I cut my finger while I was checking."

She let out a sigh of relief as she sensed his suffering diminish, at least for now as he complied with her wish, her soft murmurs of wishes for his pain to quell. She smiled at him as he gave her thanks, a tired look on her face. She didn't expect his conversion to be this agonizing for him, though she suspected something was amiss underneath the surface from how simply horrifically the transformation was treating him.

"Don't reach up and touch yourself like that, careful. I don't want you spontaneously growing claws and you rake your face or something. I can afford to do that because i'm not flesh and blood in the same respect as you, but you're a bit more tricky to fix."

She gently reached her hand out to part his lip, getting a look and seeing he had grown fangs. Eyebrow raised and a gentle nod, she sighed,

"Yep. Those're fangs alright. Careful not to bite your own tongue, you might cut it off."

She held him close, kissing him on the cheek as she tried to think of what to do, just anything as for the most part she simply couldn't do much to stop the pain, he had to ride it out.

Even as his breathing slowed to a more regular pace, and his pain dimmed, every breath was quiet, yet heavy. He didn't dare more, lest he risks potentially undoing her wish and causing a heavier wave of pain to hit him. So, as still as he could manage, Vanyel turned his gaze away from her as she told him not to just go around touching his mouth like that.

But, as she parted his lips and looked at the growing fangs in his mouth, he couldn't help himself as he gave a small smile, very carefully and gently running his tongue along the sides of his newly sharpened teeth. It was a strange feeling, but part of it made him happy just to have them. It felt cool to him, and it made him wonder if any more weird additions would appear during this.

But, for now, he let Calypso hold him, keeping himself nestled in his lover's arms as his heavy, albeit quiet, breathing, became the only sound to come from the human for a while, outside of small grunts and groans from the lingering stings of pain that wormed their way through.

Small timeskip: about an hour or more later

Time felt like it had sped up after the pain had been dulled. An hour or more had passed as if it were nothing, with Vanyel's cries of pain had faded into quiet, brief grunts and groans. Vanyel slowly looked up at her, giving her a warm smile, before looking back down at the sheets.

"...Sorry that I'm not strong enough to handle this on my own. I probably look like a massive bitch, breakin' down like this. Algos would probably have a damn feast from all this if she were here."

She held the pained man the entire time, focusing her energies into quieting his pain as time went on, the two lying in silence as Caly appeared to sway a bit, her expression looking as if she were lulled into a trance, focusing singularly on softening the blow for Vanyel until movement met her gaze. She twitched slightly, holding herself upright as she let out a small noise.

She frowned softly as Vanyel had taken the moment to softly rag on himself and apologize to her, prompting her to gently bonk him on the forehead,

"None of that. Demonic transformation is a really stressful, time-consuming process. I wouldn't want you or anybody going through it alone, you never know what would happen.."

Her chest tightened at the mention of Algos, of which her voice trembled, a tense smile marking her face, "..Don't worry, i'm taking care of you. You'll be fine. Don't need to worry about.. Nevermind."
