Hunger Strike (Ulv/Elyss)

50/50 is pretty good Elyss guesses. She’s not sure who or what all Ulv has given advice to. She may have a record as such, but was each case as severe as the other? Some guy not following advice to train shouldn’t be compared to one guy following advice to save the world rather than destroy it. Though, that doesn’t matter in this situation at all. If anyone did act up after seeing Ulv, the redhead is rather positive that Ulv would have dealt with that situation at the needed time. Though, those are just a few thoughts that Elyss occupied herself while Ulv had stepped away to retrieve the items she had spoken of.

Ah. Ulv returns, with gloves and a dress. Gloves meant to increase her punching ability? There’s not much else to say about that. However, Elyss would probably find it unfair to wear such things against opponents around her own strength level, an unfair advantage in her eyes, but surely, they’ll be useful to her in some situations. The dress? Elyss hasn’t actually ever learned much about Ulv’s Resolve Flame and other willpower-esque abilities so she’s somewhat lost on what all that means, but the fact it’ll increase her durability made it somewhat more appealing. The redhead does take a beating whenever things start to get heated. The fact she can change them into pants is a plus. She was never the skirt gal.

“Hmm. Thanks. I’ll try not to use them too much while traveling. Not looking to get into fights out there, but we all know things just happen at times.”

That is true. Without her Zanpakuto, Elyss is missing a rather big chunk of her power, but at the same time, Elyss never wanted to rely on Tenmarin anyhow considering how they went against each other in so much. Though, the gloves will help her considering her inability to actually reconcile with her Inner Spirit right now. Without the ability to meditate and grow, Elyss would eventually be behind so many in terms of ability. That fact alone causes her to feel a sense of dread about her future. Ah… She’s getting too absorbed in the negatives again when she should focus on the positives. Ulv is giving her so much and believes in her it seems. This just means Elyss will have to grow in other ways different from a normal Shinigami. Maybe along the way, she’ll understand how to better connect with Tenmarin, and by that time, she should have grown in her own innate ability to be a warrior beyond any who think themselves her equal.

“Um… You know Ulv… I’m not leaving just yet. It’s probably going to be a little while longer before my body is capable of long travels without anything acting up, but thanks again… I mean it… You’ve done far too much for me: train me, adopt me, deal with my faults, and lift me up when I fall. I never saw myself ending up like this, with people who actually cared. I just figured I’d forever be in those slums struggling to survive, and so, despite how stubborn I am and despite the mistakes I’m undoubtedly going to make in the future… Thanks again, for everything… You may not be my actual mother, but if anyone asked, I think I know who I’d point them to.”

Ugh. She didn’t want to get sentimental right now. She just wanted some Frosted Flakes. Is she crying? Dammit. She’s going to get the gloves and skirt all wet. Though, she couldn’t help the slow falling tears from escaping her eyes as she dropped her head to hide her ugly face from Ulv. These past few days have been so emotional. It’s exhausting. How could Ulv live with the ability to sense emotions? Elyss can barely handle her own.

Soul Society? Ooh. Elyss doesn’t really want to think about that place, so she doesn’t. She simply acknowledges that Ulv will be gone soon, and the place is going to be rather empty. What a troublesome thing. Elyss can wipe her own face, but she feels like a little kid with Ulv doing it for her. That’s alright.

“I… No… It’s not your fault. You tried to help, and I’m just a big idiot, and I doubt I’ll be anything but. At least, I can promise to grow somewhat to be a little less dumb about things. I understand my mistakes and how it affected everyone. Let’s not sugarcoat it, yeah? I’m no good with sentimental things. Let’s just work together for a better future. Alright, Ulv?”

She cracks another smile wishing nothing more than to curl up in bed and sleep off her slight distraught. That, and crying and all this mother daughter feelings business really wears her mind out.

Soul this and soul that. Being a ghost is so complicated. At least Elyss has someone to relate to even if that person is long gone. One day, Elyss wants to have some control over it like Ulv even if less than barely, maybe even more. Who knows? Elyss might surprise everyone. Well, in a good way this time and not in a psychotic rampaging way. Ugh. And then, there’s a head pat. It felt so out of place in this situation, and Elyss tried her best to not scrunch up her. Parents always know how to make things awkward.

“Iori is coming over? Good. I should probably tell her I’m leaving. Knowing her, she’ll probably want to come. She seems affixed with me. I don’t understand why or how anyone would want to be around someone as crazy as I am.”

Though, people like being around Ulv. Maybe it’s the red hair. Not even other redheads seem immune to its gravitating powers. Either way, Ulv easily whisked Elyss back into her room. The young woman would have liked something more to eat to be honest, but she’ll just force Iori to cook her something. Her weary eyes are winning the battle between hunger and dreams.

“Alright, though. Uh… Bye for now Ulv. I’ll try not to leave before you get back but no promises. I’ll not break anything either.”

And, there’s a quick hug before Ulv is ushered out the room, and the door quickly clicked shut as Elyss retreats to her bed to probably cry a bit more, laugh at some book, and let her eyes close for a much needed rest.
