The Silent Kuchiki
Takehiko Kuchiki
Takehiko had left his training and talking to Akuma and Ruin. With a single goal on his mind to face the young talent of the Gotei. He needed to get stronger and be faster in every single regard. This wasn't going to work at this standstill training. So the solution now was simple to go challenge young recruits like himself. They all wanted to improve and get better. So the idea would be to use their total body of work thus far. To keep growing as Takehiko knew he couldn't really rely on Vizard powers. Couldn't keep the mask on as of yet and didn't know when that would conclude. Takehiko knew Laskt from a mission they'd both gone on. One of many in the future he imagined as he moved left to right. Takehiko's body felt immature yet as he cracked his shoulders. The training yard here was different from the Division he called home. Though he was rising through the ranks quickly among the general soldiers. He wasn't anything to really write home about. Takehiko had learned Master Cho Zi's technique.
But now realize he needed to step away from healing for a bit. To toughen himself up and gain experience in fighting. This was the requirement that was going to be needed for him and Laskt. They both had a wall blocking progress for them to move forward. Challenging himself like this was important in a way to start fighting. Takehiko didn't know if he'd get a taste for it or not, but training alone provided nothing. It helped him grow a little and what experience he could glean. From things such as meditation or visiting, experts came down to one issue. He lacked spiritual power at this moment. The body was weak and undefined at the moment making it powerless. At least compared to other peoples he had encountered. He spent a lot of time training kido among other talents. Hoho and things of that nature were special to him. He'd only now begun to show concern about Azuma. His body wasn't strong enough for the hollow to bother with. Even Ruin had given him a lecture on sucking basically.
He'd sent a letter ahead as he tried to figure out what style Laskt had. The question was how best to challenge him. He'd blend in kido into his combat obviously. He'd trained a bit with Torabevu in order to improve his skills with a sword. He guessed he could attempt that. Once Laskt had arrived and showed signs of being ready. He guessed this clash of rookies would begin. Henrex's and Kuro's Division hadn't crossed his mind as of yet. Glancing around he realized he did need to reach out to Henrex. But for right now it was better for him if he just focused. To take in what was important to him in regard to it all. His growth and continued blossoming as a talented Vizard. He couldn't create better healing techniques or learn better at this stage. He needed to grow more and increase his skills. The level of his prowess disgusted him at the moment and his uncle to he wagered. The sparring area was open in very easy to ee as he waited for Laskt's arrival he closed his eyes practicing his Kata again.

As Takehiko began moving through the motions of his Kata, Laskt would arrive in the Onmitsukidō training yard, a small bag slung over his shoulder and his Zanpaktou belted at his waist. The Shinigami spared a glance at his young friend, then set down his bag on a nearby bench and began stretching, warming up each major muscle group before moving onto the next, slowly and methodically.
The ancient warrior had been slightly surprised by Takehiko’s letter, asking if he would terribly mind a sparring match between the two of them. He didn’t think the kid would be all that eager to return to live combat, even in the form of a friendly spar after his voice had been so tragically cut off by the kid’s rash action. Then again, Laskt wasn’t exactly in a position to criticize Takehiko’s rash action ruining his life, for rather obvious reasons. Perhaps the boy simply wanted to work out some stress, prove to his demanding family and to himself that he wasn’t hopeless in combat, something the Shinigami could certainly emphasize with.
As for his part, Laskt had been growing slowly more diligent with his re-training of himself, starting out slow and methodically ramping up the intensity. Emboldened by his inner Hollow’s relative weakness as he was now, the Shinigami had even gone so far as to attempt to contact his Zanpaktou spirit, however, as always, there was no response, something that was beginning to worry the warrior slightly as time went on. Nevertheless, Laskt, as always, persisted, and was growing close to the next evolution of his power, he could feel it.
As Laskt drew his weapon, he was met by murmuring from the other warriors inhabiting the training yard, some jeering and others merely confused. The Shinigami had conducted his training beforehand in empty, isolated places were he could achieve some clarity of thought, certainly not in view of his comrades. Many within the Stealth Force knew Laskt as fixture, having been a member long before any of them could remember, and had been weak since they had first met him. Truth be told, he was somewhat of a joke within the unit.
Ignoring the murmurs, Laskt turned to face Takehiko, his blade held loosely in a two handed grip, it’s tip pointed at the ground. “Ready?” He asked.

Takehiko Kuchiki
Takehiko's eyes closed as he remembered that sensation. When his uncle slashed his throat with his hand. He'd never been wounded in such a way it was sickening. The idea of combat did put a pit in his stomach but on the other hand. Failing to help those who needed him did so more. Crimson reiatsu began to flow around him as he relaxed with the Kata again. Not drawing his zanpakuto from its sheath as of yet. His cerulean eyes fell on the figure of Laskt. What did he want to accomplish, what was the purpose of this growth? The seeking of strength without reason would break people. Takehiko spoke now for the first time Laskt would hear his voice. It held a deepness to it more than one would expect. "Yes, I'm ready here I come Laskt." He said finally bringing his hand to his hilt now. Before stepping forward as he moved now. Hitting a second step and bursting forward with the Flash of the Heavenly Soaring Tiger. A technique he picked up from a journal of his Uncle Tsubasa after training.
Drawing his sword he let the sheath fly aiming it towards the hip or leg of Laskt. The force of it being released would hurt quite a bit as it had before. This was his opening as he brought a sword swing towards the chest of Laskt still. While his free hand prepared a kido to fire. Incantation wasn't hard for him but he decided to use Byakurai now. Aiming towards the leg of Laskt as he combined a combo of assault moving in. Takehiko trained hard and put nothing but his entire soul into every aspect. It wasn't without an ending that he moved away from it. He didn't run from the whip or the danger around him. He ran towards it because healers needed that. Bravery was important to be someone who saved others. More so than people would ever comprehend he believed. His azure eyes held determination in them. Not to much a razor wire focus settled on the task at hand. He could still do more he thought but he believed that Laskt would have something to respond with. He expected it as the crimson reiatsu glowed around his form.
The light wasn't far away for him or Laskt as he believed both of them would grow. They would become stronger intensely so and develop. He saw a future with them standing atop the Gotei. They were a future that was going to quickly have to grow. War was still going around and they had to do what they could. They couldn't weigh down the veterans in Henrex and other Captains. Takehiko's breathing remained solid with his Kata having drastically improved by doing it every single day. Constant training and even then when called a failure he pushed harder. Nothing on this path came easy and he had names to live up too. He was the Nephew of a former Head Captain. But also was a nephew of Byakuya Kuchiki. Putting stress on Takehiko few could ever truly grasp. But he went about things his way and did things with innocent and naivety intact. Not sacrificing his beliefs or morals even after his incident. The crowd was a non-factor for him because he focused all his mind on Laskt.
The question stage was set and the actors had taken their place. It was time to see what sort of play this would be for him.

“If you are ready, then come, Takehiko” Laskt would say simply, watching the boy like a hawk. When it came to combat, the normally quiet Shinigami grew even more introspective, caring little for the battle cries or taunts most warriors exchanged. To Laskt, it was little but wasted breath to do either of those things, and inefficiency in combat was simply one of the few things that the warrior could not abide by.
The warrior’s hazel eyes would bore into Takehiko’s own in the still moments before the spar began in earnest, seemingly staring into the boy’s very soul. Laskt had heard of Takehiko’s profiency in Kido, especially of the medical variety, and his good amount of skill in Kido from many a whispered rumour in the darkened halls of the Onmitsukidō headquarters: it was almost impossible not to in fact. After all, the boy was a Kuchiki, and if there was one thing that united the various subsects of the Steath Force it was the lust for information, especially of the noble flavor. Unless I miss my guess, the kid will likely open with some kind of offensive Kido. It would be foolish not to, he has to know I am his superior with a blade, and range suits him best here. I need to lock him down as soon as possible, before he can gain some breathing room.
Dark blue Reiastu flared in a nimbus around the reluctant Vizard as he answered Takehiko’s wave of power with one of his own, the crimson and blue clashing in the charged air between the two combatants. If Takehiko was to feel the surge of energy, he would be able to sense its incredible age, likely one of the oldest the boy had ever felt. Despite what one might think due to his incredibly low power level, Laskt was by no means a green rookie, and anyone who thought otherwise would pay the price of underestimating the Knight of the Detention Unit.
Even as the sheath of Takehiko’s Zanpaktou hurtled towards his right leg in an attempt to further reduce his relative mobility, Laskt’s left hand had already snapped forward, palm extended. “Shield me, protect me, from the reality of what is in front of me! Bakudo #7! Gyokuseki o hogo!” He would chant quickly, forming a transparent panel of Reiatsu that would repel the attempted throw, causing the sheath to clang against the shield and roll away across the weathered stones of the courtyard.
Takehiko’s next move, however, was not so simple to repel.
Even without the full incantation, the power of Takehiko’s Byakurai was nothing to sneer at for someone at their level. The blast of spiritual energy impacted against Laskt’s hastily erected barrier, causing the panel of Reiatsu to crack and splinter, and only just barely hold against the onslaught.
Before it completely shattered however, the former knight had already vanished, flash-stepping right into his his foe’s face before attempting to drive his fist deep into the boy’s stomach, hopefully winding him for a few moments and preventing him from chanting the incantations that would put his Kido beyond the level Laskt could safely defend against. To ensure this, Laskt would pivot on his heel, twisting his wrist and attempting to smack the flat of his sword upside the boy’s head, hopefully further disabling him.

Takehiko's lips curved into a smile at the incantation of choice. It was an excellent barrier and would serve him well. Especially against Byakurai and kido of the like. His sword slammed into Takehiko's own blade as he'd launched the sheath from it. Leaving his sword free to continue along the path to protect him. He needed to act quickly as he considered what the next action would be. Both moves had been protected very well. The next one was going to be exhausting for him as he reached to grab Laskt's wrist. While both of them were locked like this, performing this kido would be extremely tiring. But at this distance, it wouldn't be too difficult for him to execute. Trouble was it was just one after ten in Hadō, he knew how to execute it. Just not well enough to not use a lot of energy as of yet. Tsuzuri Raiden was the name of it and it was Hadō number 11. Bound Lightning was the more common tongue name for it. As through his hands, electricity crackled crawling over and on to Laskt's form as contact was maintained.
Panting a bit as that had taken more energy to execute then he would have liked previously. He needed to have a plan for when the male began to move again. He was likely to break the clenching grip on his wrist or the deadlock of blades. Takehiko couldn't promise himself a win without thinking outside the box. Digits tried to tighten on the wrist of Laskt. So the kido could go on to the male causing electricity based damage. Takehiko felt sweat trickle down his chin slowly as he swallowed. It was a really hard and difficult thing to perform that one. He'd not be able to do it again. His energy supply just wouldn't allow that surprise again. But Takehiko would wager that Laskt wouldn't that. So the previously known list of Kido Takehiko could execute. Those were now up in the air and in an entirely different department. His eyes watched studying and observing the actions to come. Ready to flash step at a moment's notice to follow or keep up. As the kido wore off and he knew he had little time.
Takehiko used a Hoho to break the distance between them. Because in truth a ranged battle was better suited for him. He'd need this distance in order to really do anything. Beginning an incantation he moved his hand now making symbols as he spoke for a bakudo incantation. "Disintegrate, you black dog of Rondanini!! Look upon yourself with horror and then claw out your own throat!" Bakudo 9 Geki" Takehiko said softly as he felt the red glow come from him. Hoping to hit Laskt with this one as it could be blocked by a barrier. Though his eyes looked waiting for the next move of Laskt. Takehiko felt his body begin to ache even at the beginning. But it was alright, he'd spent energy and was getting exercise. It was always good to move forward, the clanging of their swords made his hands hurt. But this was what living as a soldier was for the Gotei. Fighting in battle and constantly growing and evolving. Laskt was a tough person for him as he didn't know how effective his strategy would be.

The kid was dexterous, there was no denying that. Even as Laskt’s fist sailed towards Takehiko’s gut, the boy somehow managed to catch it in midflight, locking them together. In addition, the boy parried his Zanpaktou strike with his own, locking the two swords in a bind of blades, locking both combatants in a two-pronged contest of brute strength, one that the former Knight, with his focus on martial combat, was sure to win. Laskt raised an eyebrow Not what I expected, though not unwelcome. Strange though, the kid has to know he is outmatched when it comes to swordplay.
Overcoming his momentary surprise at Takehiko’s brash actions, Laskt stepped closer, intending to utilize his superior build and height to overcome the marginal difference in their strengths. However, even as the former Knight moved within Takehiko’s guard, he noticed the furrow of concentration on the boy’s face, and the slight change in the density of his spiritual pressure. That’s not good. He thought to himself, even as the air surrounding the join pair crackled and sparked with pure energy.
Gritting his teeth and hissing in agony as the electrical Kido ravaged his body, Laskt would, contrary to what one might expect, fastened his right hand around Takehiko’s wrist, locking it in an ironclad grip. He would then draw his head back and slam a devastating headbutt into Takehiko’s face, attempting to stun the boy into releasing him. In addition to this, he would lash forward with his right leg, attempting to knee his foe in the gut, hard.
Thankfully, Takehiko released the Kido soon after, attempting to gain some distance with a Hoho. Laskt growled, feeling his body spasm and shake as the aftermath of the electrical discharge took its toll. The warrior knew that he couldn’t take another one of those, the stamina drain and the impact on his body was simply too great. However, Laskt also knew that all of his advantages lay within a close-range encounter, so he had no choice but to pursue his young foe.
Even as Takehiko began chanting his Kido, Laskt used a quick Hoho, drinking deeply of his rapidly dwindling stamina reserves in order to position himself right in front of his foe. The former Knight then launched a blistering flurry of sword strikes: overhead cuts, backhand slices, quick stabs to the ribs that were just intended to break a bone or two. Granted the warrior had blunted his sword beforehand in order to not kill his young opponent, but any of these strikes carried the power that a swordsman of Laskt’s level and could easily break bones. He hoped that this attack would force Takehiko onto the back foot, and interrupt his Kido before he had time to complete it.

A shot to the skull and a knee into the rib cage both staggering blows. They took their toll on his being. Rocking him in his core as his eyes looked forward. Realizing instantly no way this guy let him finish his incantation. He was too slow and in so much pain. When a voice reached out to his senses and jarred him alive again. "IS that it!? You ARE PATHETIC! WHERE IS YOUR ANGER!?" Takehiko's eyes looked around shifting as he felt a spasm in his body. Grunting softly he couldn't fight this forever but he would try. The swordsman came and with devilish speed as he'd taken some punishment. He needed to think straight as he considered options looking. He knew a kido but knew damn well it would blow up. It was just Takehiko could not execute it. Using his sword he deflected blows trying to keep up with them. He needed an opening of some kind. It was going to have to be an all or nothing gamble. So the options were on the table try his uncle's move. Or do something completely reckless and blow himself up.
This wouldn't be clean nor would it match the elegance of his uncles. He only had one shot at this so deflecting the barrage of blows. He chose a blow that looked good. Feeling the blade come towards his midsection he hoped he timed it right. It wasn't perfect and it was sloppy. Someone with high focus or speed could see through it. But he only had one idea in mind to help him face Laskt. Utusemi, his uncle Byakuya and Tsubasa had used it previously. He'd seen and read about it often in his uncle's journal. This sloppy version was that of someone trying to break through. But it was all he needed in order to do it as in terms of combat he'd given up. His stamina was way below that of Laskt's at his moment. Using what chance he had he came from behind. Knowing full well a blow would come to him as he released Byakurai into the upper shoulder of Laskt if possible anyways. His body ached all over as he simply slumped over after that. Takehiko had blown the last of his stamina on that.
Sweat dripped down his forehead and he wasn't sure if he'd count this as a win if it was one. He'd spent every last reserve of his energy on advanced techniques. Things beyond his spectrum currently that cost so much stamina. Both his step and that kido which laid beyond him at this junction. Takehiko's breathing felt heavy as he slumped back on his back. Leading to medics coming to look him over. Takehiko had never tried that step before. While sloppy was promising in terms of his growth? He was showing a great deal of potential to grow into something. Coughing as he tried to catch his breath feeling like he'd run millions of miles. Takehiko had put everything or nothing on the line. He'd even considered using a level 31 kido to self destruct himself on Laskt. He was willing to put body and limb on the line. He didn't care about being a noble in any sense. Nobility was the least of his worries. He needed to readdress himself and this stamina matter. Takehiko attempted to move but his legs shook and gave out.
His eyes still held a burning determination in them as he wanted to get up. Takehiko held a fire in his soul of not surrendering lightly. No strategy was too risky or bold for him. Did he know if he could use that fabled step? No that was a gamble in of itself. Laskt could see through it and pummel him. That was the risk in this world he faced as his eyes looked around. Searching for Laskt now trying to find him in his exhaustion sight had abandoned him for now. Too far again had he pushed himself to this line. That voice spurring him on could only belong to Akuma. He guessed his brother had gotten fed up with his almost childlike nature in things. Thus had words with him before the fight came to this junction.

Laskt's burning gaze grew steadily more intense, boring twin holes into Takehiko's head as he continued to ramp up the intensity of his swordsmanship until his blade hammered down at Takehiko's defenses in an unrelenting flurry of vicious strokes. He felt the thrill of combat surge, enveloping him in the simple pleasures of the duel. The ache of his muscles, the harsh pressure as blade met blade, the adrenal pumping through his veins. It had been....so long since Laskt had faced an opponent he could actually fight on fair terms, never mind one that he was superior to! If Takehiko was observant, he would notice slight hints of a red mist beginning to seep outwards from the Vizard's form as his eyes slowly began to gain a tinge of yellow within their irises.
The warrior's blade flickered towards his foe's shoulder, only for it to suddenly stop and change directions entirely as he attempted to slash his opponent across the waist in a blow that would have cut his opponent clean in half if his Zanpaktou had not been blunted. Even so, if the blunted strike made contact, it would still be painful in the extreme, and the force would certainly crack a rib or two, ensuring his victory.
Laskt hesitated, for a moment, his blade slowing in mid-air. Why was he so intent on injuring the boy? He just needed to overtax his stamina, not beat him into a bloody pulp like every impulse told him to. Deep within his mind, he heard a faint, booming, ominous laugh, echoing through his psyche. His hands flew towards his head, dropping his sword in the process, as he squeezed his eyes shut Damn it not now! I thought he was contained for at least a little longer! He thought desperately, expending every once of willpower he possessed into holding back the demon within.
Even as Laskt struggled to contain his resurgent Hollow, he felt a light pressure on his shoulder, Takehiko's fingertip pressing into his flesh. Still embroiled in a mental struggle, Laskt cracked open one eye, only shout in agony as a lance of burning pain burned it's way through his shoulder, nearly disabling the limb entirely!
The former Knight's legs shook, then gave out as he collapsed to his knees in agony, supporting his heavily injured body with shaking arms braced against the hard stone of the training ground, only conscious through sheer force of will. He looked up at Takehiko through pain-wracked eyes, "Thank....you." He managed to gasp out. For some reason, the agony had caused abruptly caused Chikai no Uragiru's mental attack to cease, preventing the Hollow from taking full control. As the medics rushed over to sedate him, he waved them off, somehow managing to stumble to his feet and walk over to his fellow Vizard, placing a shaking hand on his shoulder. "Good fight.....my friend, your Kido is impressive to be sure."Laskt said, his voice full of pain, but a wan smile on his face.

Takehiko Kuchiki
Troublesome that is what that was and Takehiko knew what it meant. The vizard by him was suffering from an attack. Well, it made him sigh as he gently sheathed his sword. Extending his right hand outwards a needle formed slowly. He was handed a pill with a skull upon it. This was a stamina pill which would help him as he swallowed it. He felt some restoration effects begin so he could work. The injuries of concern weren't that important. Takehiko smiled and shook his head left to right. "Fight is no longer a problem, we need to balance you out. This technique is designed to bring closure of sorts." Takehiko gently touched the needle to the chest of Laskt. No pain would be felt as he connected it to him. But a surge of the cleansing of the negative influences. He formed another needle now putting it near the wound to create more natural healing. This would allow that injury to begin recovering slowly. Takehiko hadn't recovered much but as a person in charge of recovery, he couldn't let someone suffer.
Slowly he moved from point to point putting needles along the sacrum. Making sure he put the needle's in softly for Laskt he would feel a wave through him. Something calming almost as though his body had been mended. But not just on a physical level but on a spiritual one. This would reach through touching his hollow also, calming it down. Putting a lull into it as he felt the sweat drip from his brow now. This problem couldn't be fixed with a traditional kaido technique. It required something a bit more specialized which he was. "This technique will relax your hollow and zanpakuto spirit when you get that far. It for lack of a better sense is like being cleansed with a calming sensation." Takehiko couldn't really break it down before he put the last needle in. Having done about thirty of them along the Soul Chain and other areas. To open up the natural restoration powers by combining his needles with Kaido healing. The green glow of them slowly began to diminish before fell on his back.
His eyes felt really heavy and his body still ached itself. He'd not forgotten about his injuries really. Swallowing he breathed softly trying to find some form of peace at the moment. That technique wasn't draining really, well unless you did after what he had. Takehiko's ribs ached so did his head. The concussion was a possible outcome with a couple of cracked ribs in the end. Had he not used that step technique he'd of been way worse off. His hollow was not like Akuma, not in the slightest. He'd gotten used to his hollow spurring him on towards victory among other things. But there wasn't a winner in this contest they both gained experience. That was the important thing as Takehiko laid upon the ground resting himself from it. That wasn't a relatively close contest in his opinion. One that made it all the more clear where his weakness lied. He wasn't any good at melee combat really. He needed to get stronger at Kido and Hoho, those were the shinigami skills he excelled at.
But what of the other side of things, could he ever really reach out to Akuma for that? Not yet he surmised and simply laid his head down. Not minding the dirt or earth beneath him. Treating Laskt and his hollow was a troubling perspective, but it would buy time. Until he found a way to do things better and evolved that needle technique further. His kaido skills hadn't been put to much use yet. But he surmised they would soon enough. They would begin to grow more together as they were meant too. Laskt and he would become key figures someday in the Gotei. When was up to how hard they worked and pushed themselves? Work was the key part of everything in this process. Akuma didn't want control of him or his body far as he could tell. That the hollows goals were rather plain and simple. Enjoy the true feeling battle and pushing Takehiko farther so he could finally fight too. Though that was the guess at the moment that he had really.
