I. Basic Information
» Name: Sofia Montero
» Titles: "M" The Melody, The Quincy Prodigy
» Age: 23
» Gender: Female
» Affiliation/Rank: Vandenreich, Sternritter Grandmaster
» Physical Appearance Description:
Despite her preferences, Sofia’s look and her choice of outfits have changed throughout the years just as she has. The woman still values mobility above all else, and will typically gravitate towards clothing choices that are the least restrictive. However, from her experience during the times she had the Eris Seal, its effects managed to bring out a darker and far less restrained side of her. And while the Seal was removed and its effects largely vanished, the more opened state of mind certainly reamined. The Quincy is far less likely to care about the opinion of others in regards to her personal life or her choice of attire. While she still places value in the opinion of her peers in such regards, the days of mulling over their concerns and changing her clothing choice to fit a norm had long since passed.
Though her clothing choice varies, she can typically be seen wearing some kind of skirt or a top. More often than not, the more standard and known Wandenreich uniform seems to be her pick. She has a preference for the largely white outfits, with gold outlines and golden edges. She’s just as likely however to revisit some of her older and more casual attires, like a simple white tops and dark blue skirts. As its noticeable, skirts are among her favorite pieces due to how easy she finds it to fight in them.
Even her physical look has experienced a change during this time. Right before she joined the Wandenreich, Sofia always kept her hair short. It was never allowed to go below her ears in the fears that it would get in the way of her training and be more harm than good. While she still occasionally will cut it that short, it's no longer the norm. She’s just as likely or more to actually let it grow long, somewhere down to about mid back length. Still, it's not unheard of for her to simply revisit an old style from time to time. She’s simply found that with heightened skill, her hair no longer became the source of concern or problem it could have been. Besides, with a different and varied choice of outfits, she simply goes for what feels right, and what she likes.

II. Personality Traits
» Personality:
Sofia’s personality has gone through as many changes as her power and her techniques during the last few years. Exposure to different individuals, and battle experience against numerous opponents has come to shape the kind of person she became. The girl is still heavily invested in her people; that never changed. Sofia still believes that Earth belongs to the Humans, and that it should rightfully belong to them. At the same time, she truly believes that each subspecies of Human, especially those with spiritual power stand as a form of needed evolution to try and reclaim what’s theirs. Among them she defines the Quincy as the warriors and protectors for a world on its perpetual brink of death.
Despite that mindset, she’s much less critical of other races like she once used to be. While still holding some level of disdain for the Demon and Hollow race as a whole, she’s fully aware there are exceptions to the general rule. There are smart individuals, willing to do well for the world and others. Among them she remembers fondly people like Yaksha and Demonica. Regardless, while she still tends to think less of them, she’s open to being corrected. Whereas before she would strike first and ask questions later, the Quincy is far more willing to listen first.
At the same time, her upbringing, her powers and her views continue to make her a rather tough and harsh leader to work under. As most members of the Vandenreich can attest, Sofia values discipline and cannot stand those who recklessly break the rules. She believes in leading by example and subjects herself to the same rules and regulations as everyone else. Despite her position within the faction and the wealth of her family, she’s never considered herself superior to anyone else in that regard. She trains with her men, eats with them, and is the first out in the battlefield leading the offensive. In her opinion, being superior is something that can only be proven through words and ideals in normal conversation, or through strength and power in the battlefield.
Unlike those before her, the woman knows the value of allies, especially in a world as unforgiving as this one. Despite the ghosts of the past, she has made a conscious effort to put personal problems behind and do what’s best for her people. Being at the forefront when the Vanguard and Vastime allied with the Quincy, Sofia has slowly learned to put her pride behind her for her people’s best interest. The more allies they possess the further their reach extend, and the more likely the Quincy were of keeping the world safe. Sofia isn’t one to completely let her guard down though. Despite alliances, she makes sure to always be on the ready and try to expect the unexpected; just in case. She has learned to never truly trust anyone.
As before, she has quite a lot of hobbies that tend to take up the time she doesn’t spend working. Music has always been one of her most favorite pastimes from a young age. Although capable of playing a wide variety of instruments, she’s known for her skills with the violin, something that’s always brought a smile to her. Training, battle, and combat progress easily match her love for music. As such, it’s easy to see why some of her best friends typically have a fondness and a great level of skill in one or both of those areas.
One of her biggest downfalls though is her own inability to trust and her fear of falling in love. Doing her best to avoid any circumstance where she’s vulnerable, the feeling has been ignored at all costs. At every turn in her life she has used a number of individuals to either get her way or obtain what she wanted. Using people has been an extra way of feeling at the top, while reminding her to never get to a point where she’s in the receiving end. She’s aware that feelings can come to endanger a person by bringing weakness into their life, and thus has avoided it at all costs. But as time’s gone by, and with a couple of individuals that have shown her reasons to try and open up more, there’s a chance she may yet allow herself to be vulnerable and feel as she’s never had.
III. Relationships
Toshiko Kamenashi: One of the few friends Sofia had during her childhood. Like her, the girl hailed from a famous Quincy family with a long list of affiliation to the Wandenreich. The two of them were trained from a very young age, though separately, and enjoyed the wealth and benefits their families possessed. Despite the obvious rivalry growing up, it was never seen as such by Toshiko. Despite wanting to get stronger and improve just as Sofia did, she had other interests that simply managed to take paramount.
Several years later, the two would come to join the Wandenreich just as they had planned. Sofia had become the Captain of the Jagdarmee and Toshiko the Captain of the Daten. The two seemed to be evenly off in terms of power, and the prodigy couldn’t be happier for her friend. She had nothing but and respect for her. Things however started to change from that point on. From Sofia’s perspective, it looked as though her childhood friend didn’t train as often or as much as before. Following a quick spar, everything became far more clear when Sofia managed to end the fight relatively quickly.
Though unknown to her friend at the time, Sofia left the faction for a just under a year in hopes to reconcile her own troubled mind and find answers to her questions. When she finally returned, she found Toshiko has changed quite a bit, and certainly not in the ways she had hoped. The Quincy still didn’t frequent the training grounds as much as Sofia would like. She had also found herself a romantic interest to take the place of what Sofia had been. And while she commended her on being happy, she couldn’t help but think it held her back. In fact, it looked as thought Toshiko had stagnated for quite some time in terms of power.
Regardless, though she doesn’t say it as often, Sofia still loves Toshiko. She was an invaluable friend growing up, and she’s still is. Granted, the prodigy has found it difficult and awkward to venture back to try and be as close as she was though. It stems primarily out of how detached her friend seems to be with the life of a Quincy in the face of other matters such as her romantic life. And rather than cast blame or demean, Sofia simply steps aside, hoping things get better soon for her friend.
Niflheim: From the very start, the relationship between Niflheim and Sofia was a bit estranged. She wasn’t sure why, but the old Quincy never really talked to her or acknowledged her as much as she did anyone else, like Toshiko. Despite creating some of the biggest chances and opportunities for their race, Sofia was barely treated like any member of the organization should. That in it of itself created some deep and veiled rivalries from the start. Sofia had set her eyes and on the Elect and in wanting to pass her, if anything to prove a point.
With time, she managed to do just that. Still, even long after Sofia created technology, bested the best of their kind, and created a legacy for herself, she received no acknowledgement. The rivalry would soon turn mostly to resentment. She was sure the Elect didn’t like her, and Sofia was sure she didn’t like her either. Pretty soon, whether by Niflheim realizing it or not, Sofia would need to step up and take control of an organization she more or less already led. However, during one of their most recent meetings, some of the most heartfelt interactions between the two came to light. Niflheim said she was dying, something Sofia knew could be prevented. It wasn’t unlike truly powerful spiritual Humans to live several thousand years, so her condition was likely just something that could be remedied one way or another.
More importantly, she said she had been watching her progress, and that she was proud. Sofia couldn’t but feel angered as how could the Elect have cared so much yet shared so little? Despite this, the two of them were in agreeance on what needed to happen for their people. It was unclear what the future would hold for them, but it looked as though Niflheim would continue to advice her people, even if as the Grandmaster while Sofia led. There also seemed to appear subtle hints at a romantic spark that was kept hidden and under veils for too long. Whether it lights up a fire and grows is yet to be seen, but both seem to be eager to find out.
Anis: Among her childhood peers, Anis stood out among the rest as being one of the strongest her age. It looked as though she would become the rival Sofia needed throughout her upbringing. In fact, it was Anis who initially pushed her to train harder in order to surpass her. It happened as a result of getting punched in the face during a playground altercation. Unfortunately, Sofia never got to test her skills or check her worth against the girl as she disappeared shortly after that. Some thought she had ran away, caving under pressure, and others thought she had simply been killed. Initially Sofia tended to believe the former. The life they led was hectic and complicated, and not many could withstand the pressure she faced every day.
It wasn’t until roughly one and a half decades later that Sofia would see her again. A wild and untamed amount of energy belonging to a Quincy and massive amounts of destruction were reported in an area not far from her. Once Sofia went and checked it out, she was met with that astounding discovery. Anis had been kept a sort of prisoner and slave throughout all those years. She had been robbed of her childhood and the potential she could have had as a Quincy, just like her friend. Instead, she had been made to fight day in and day out and in showed it her disheveled look. And so, putting past issues aside, Sofia took her in, in hopes of teaching her to be the best she could be.
It would certainly be an arduous and difficult task, but she was patient or so she thought. If Sofia could manage to find the balance between nurturing and discipline perhaps there was progress and pride to be earned for the girl. If she managed to grow within herself and learn to use her powers more efficiently, perhaps she could be a nice addition to the Sternritter. Regardless, her people would be willing and happy to have another member of their family join their ranks; Sofia was.
Arianda Vael: Among the very first Demons Sofia ever met was Arianda. However, what could have been considered as a chance encounter couldn’t be further from the truth. For some time the Quincy had researched into alternative though darker means of extending her powers and enhancing the techniques. Eventually she discovered the Eris Seal, and the peculiar circumstances and the rarity of the people that could grant it. Among the choices, Arianda was the one she thought she could manipulate best, and whose potential violence she was most likely to successfully control.
Playing out a somewhat innocent and detached individual, the Quincy allowed herself be dragged into the Demon’s claws for the sake of power. A couple of sensual escapades and her virginity were of little value to her, and easily discarded for what she planned to gain from it. Once it was clear she had obtained what she wished, Sofia allowed herself to momentarily give into the emotions the Seal seemed to feed on. Despite getting rid of the Seal over a year later, the two individuals still hold a certain level of friendship between each other.
As far as Demons are concerned, Arianda is actually a better cut above the rest, even with her close involvement with Shadow Fall. It can’t be denied that the two are tied in more than one way, specifically since they shared the Quincy’s first time. And while it hasn’t been clearly stated, its possible that Sofia wishes for the Demon to see the light and the error of her ways. It's likely that she hopes and waits she makes the move away from Shadow Fall, and into more natural and righteous paths such as the one Demonica has started to follow.
Hayden: There are very few people whose power and leadership Sofia truly respects, possibly because she holds them to the same level of rigor and scrutiny as she does herself. Among them is the former leader of the Vanguard, and current leader of Vastime, Hayden. The two knew of each other previously just through word of mouth. His accomplishments in and out of the battlefield were well known. He had led several forces successfully in combat, and had created some of the most powerful military forces in the world. As for Sofia, her youth and essentially little experience at the time made her far less likely to be known, but the prodigy of the Quincy was enough of an anomaly to awaken curiosity in him and others at the time.
Their first meeting was during the official alliance between the Vanguard/Vastime and the Wandenreich. Naturally there were a few areas of contention seeing as Radioactive, someone associated with one of their genocides was among their to-be allie’s ranks. But, after some deliberation and some more thought about the current state of affairs, it was best to leave the past in the past and move towards the future.
From that point on the two would meet each other from time to time. Typically it was to discuss matters of a political manner. Like him, Sofia wasn’t one to sit behind a desk and let others work for her. They even had a chance to spar, a time where the two would finally come to assert the value of each other's combat skill. All in all, she has a certain fondness for the man. His vast powers makes him equally dangerous as well as interesting. A sort of healthy rivalry sor of developed within herself, against someone she dares consider almost a friend. It's likely that as time goes on, the two will have more interactions to foster each other's growth, and that of their people.
Radioactive: Initially, Sofia wanted nothing to do with the man. When the current leadership presented the idea of Vastime/Vanguard allying with the Wandenreich, Sofia was strongly against it. Radioactive had been responsible for countless deaths among the Quincy several hundred years ago. And while it was certainly way before her time and her parent’s, its effects were still noticeable in her people and in the world at large. To say she had resentment, dislike, and perhaps even hate for the man would be a vast understatement. In the end, it was only her sense of duty and professionalism that kept her acting civil. Otherwise she would have lashed out in what could have been a catastrophe costing her people several lives. That couldn’t happen.
Instead, she listened and actively participated in the alliance meeting. They made their points, as she made hers. The groups did indeed come to an agreement and became allies, something Sofia actually agreed to as well. Radioactive had changed ever since those horrible events. He had changed rather drastically and showed signs of wishing to do so still. To say Sofia forgave him would be a lie. Perhaps one day, but that day had yet to come. She certainly didn’t like him still, and whether she could come to trust him or respect him was still on the fence. Nonetheless, she held him in a higher esteem than she ever did. Willing to see his progress, Sofia looks on to a future where his name can mean something else to her people than what he’s already remembered by.
Henrex: The first these two met, Sofia found a short, scared, and lonely boy that seemed to be filled with insecurities. Whether each of the former were true or not, that was certainly the vibe she got from their first encounter. He paused to speak, he seemed nervous and distant from everything and everyone around him. His power was decent, but he looked like someone with the eagerness to try and better. It was breath of fresh air, specially during a time where she voiced her discontent with her childhood friend and her refusal to train frequently. Sofia offered him shelter, a place to sleep, and even food to eat. Little did she know at the time the boy would grow into someone rather impressive she could be proud of.
The two didn’t see each other for almost two years after that. When they met, Henrex couldn’t possibly be more different than she remembered. He walked with his chin up and eyes forward, without nervousness or fear at every step and every word. He was far better kept from a physical standpoint, and had even managed to rise up to the position of Captain within the Gotei. More importantly his energy and his power had skyrocketed during her absence. At the present time, his power had risen to such a degree that he was essentially on par with her. The boy, whose age was actually well beyond hers, had managed to break through multiple obstacles and struggles to earn what he desired.
Sofia couldn’t be more proud of him, even if she did restrain the amount of praise she voiced on his behalf. Rather than being the friendly shoulder to rely on, the two had developed stronger bonds of friendship that expand from the social to the more military aspects of their lives. In turn, he has become another source of friendly competition and rivalry for the girl. With his most recent change in behavior, he seems like someone not willing to go down or be left behind. In that regard, Sofia has finally met her match as she’s not willing to walk behind anyone either. It's quite possible that the two would breakthrough new echelons of power together, and foster a friendship and a rivalry the likes of which most can only read of.
Ghislain: The former emperor of the Quincy is among the people that have had the most influence in Sofia’s career. Their first encounter was a bit bittersweet, with the young woman perhaps letting her emotions get the best of her. She was far too concerned with power, much more than now. And at the same time she was upset at his choice to help other people and other factions over his own. She thought he clung to power, and wouldn’t return unless he led the Quincy. Now, regardless of whether that was true or not, her reaction should have been better, though she didn’t notice until after the encounter.
Out of her request, the two met again almost a year or two later. After some needed apologies, the two had a series of conversations, learning a lot about each other's life, and their past. With the jumps in strength the young Quincy had made, it didn’t take long for the two to engage in a much needed friendly spar. Unfortunately, it wasn’t one that would last too long, as Ghislain called it off rather quickly, choosing to call it a draw. Despite the result, it was obvious that the two of them were among the very strongest of their kind at that time. They had the potential to usher their people on, and they certainly would.
More importantly, Ghislain was instrumental for Sofia since he managed to remove the Eris Seal from her. It allowed her to be free once more, feel pure, and effectively return to her people. Shortly after, the man led her on a journey to discover ancient secrets of the Quincy largely lost to time. Among them was the Regalia. As for Sofia, her Regalia took on a form of a Siren, something Ghislain and her found befitting of her unique set of skills. After some deliberation and some flirting, the two engaged in more simple pleasures of the flesh. Though in part as a thanks for all he had done for her, the woman had done it out of her own accord.
Though time has passed since their encounter, it looks as though Ghislain has once again made himself present in her life. Some of his more recent movements have seen him return to the Wandenreich to claim a place among his people; his family. It was the first step to showing all the new Quincy that he stood with them. It also helped that someone with such a great power was willing to stand with them, and show them they weren’t alone. Sofia couldn’t be more proud of his choice, as he has become both a respected combatant, a rival, and a good friend. With the two working closely, there’s bound to be more interaction between the two, and things can only be better from thereon.
Demonica: Demonica, or Monica as the Quincy calls her, is one of the most recent but welcomed additions to Sofia’s life. The Demon had a very long history of associating with the wrong crowds, and creating all sorts of mayhem and destruction. She was quite certainly the last person someone like Sofia would want to associate with. If even the dark and heinous entities had kicked her away, then most would have thought she was better off being left to rot and die, being forgotten by everyone, and erased from everything.
However, the Quincy had a hunch about Monica that turned out to be true, for now. The Demon had shown signs not of weakness, but rather of willingness to change. Time and time again Monica had been betrayed by those she called allies, or failed to capitalize on actions that were just horrendous. The young Quincy should have known better than to approach a situation like that, since typically one couldn’t change individuals that had been so ingrained into their ways; but she tried nonetheless.
The Quincy wanted to try and see if Monica could be redeemed. There were plenty of Demons doing good in the world and for proper and righteous causes. Granted their numbers paled in comparison to the overwhelming amount that belonged to organizations like Shadow Fall. They were simply outliers who knew better. In the short time the two were together, the young woman was able to see hope for her newest of friends. Monica was willing to change, and willing to embrace a life completely different from everything she had experienced.
From going to a store to shop without people noticing her at all or freaking over her presence. To jokes and innocent flirting, hugs, and simple kisses that brighten their mood. She was getting a taste for a different kind of life she may not have enjoyed fully. She was getting to see a different side of life that had been purposely been kept from her, though no more. While her friend wasn’t officially affiliated with the Wandenreich just yet, Sofia was sure it was only a matter of time until she would. Sooner or later Monica would shock the world with her actions, and help bring about the times she knew were coming.
On another note, the Quincy began to see Monica in ways she hadn’t seen anyone yet. Sure, she was beautiful, but there was far more to it than that. Perhaps it was the power she commanded? No, that wasn’t it either. Maybe it was her innocence with things unrelated to death, destruction and calamity? No, not that either. Whatever it was, whether something else or a combination of the above, Sofia was truly enjoying her time with her. Unlike previous encounters with other powerful beings, she wasn’t trying to use her for anything in particular. She could be of use, but Sofia was willing to chalk it up as a loss if it didn’t pan out; but it did. From the looks of it, it seemed as though Sofia was starting to develop feelings for her the likes of which she didn’t or rather couldn’t understand just yet though she probably would...soon.
Tsubasa: Quite easily and by far the toughest and most difficult opponent Sofia has ever faced. Even today, when her power has risen from what it was at the time, she would still find herself in a world of trouble trying to get the upper hand. Back when they did, their encounter stemmed mostly out of curiosity from both sides. Sofia was eager to test herself against the former Captain Commander, and he was curious to check the prowess of the best combatant the Quincy kind had to offer. Though excited, the Quincy didn’t fully know what she had gotten herself into.
Unlike Ghislain or some of the other opponents she faced, Tsubasa didn’t start out slow or easy. From the get go he displayed a clear intent to kill that was made worse by the sheer power and speed he possessed. At his level, Sofia could only think of a couple of people, the Demon Queen included, who could approach such a colossal level of power. Though a bit too late, it became obvious to the girl that she wasn’t fighting to show or fighting to impress anymore. She was fighting in the middle of an extremely dangerous struggle from which she was more likely to come out dead than alive.
In order to face him Sofia had to pool in all of her resources, managing to stay ahead barely and survive. Her maneuvers garnered the attention and respect of the Shinigami, who acknowledged her skills and placed her on a scale of her own. At the same time, the Quincy finally had a taste of what it was like to face an opponent at the highest possible level. Without a doubt, her encounter with Tsubas was one which forced her to grow exponentially. She grew proportionately in regards to how she approached combat, and with the power she displayed thanks to what she learned during it. Meeting the man is not something the Quincy has on her plans. But despite the danger of their encounter, its an experience she looks back on fondly as it helped make her into the warrior she’s today. And while there’s a chance the two might spar again someday far away, Sofia won’t rest until her progress elicits just as big a surprise and as large a smile as she caused him during their first encounter.
Ritsuko: The Human lover, and to-be wife of her childhood friend, Toshiko. Sofia knew nothing about her until she returned from her year long absence from the organization. It seemed as though during that time Toshiko had gotten over her. Instead she had found a then Quincy roughly about the same height as Sofia, with a similar skin tone, and similar hair. The comparison between them was almost too similar for comfort, but the young girl got over it eventually.
Strangely enough, it looked as though Ritsuko had been a Quincy originally. Through methods which she wasn’t told, the girl had lost her powers and what made her unique. Sofia had to believe it was through foolish acts, either by messing with the Sanrei glove too soon, or other forms of strain. In any case, she was a Human, and luckily for her, she had a shred of spiritual power to boot. In time, the girl would seek out Sofia, and daringly ask to be trained. She was aware of the past history between her lover and the prodigy, but she also knew of the power the latter commanded.
While reluctant at first, Sofia finally agreed. The young Quincy wouldn’t pull any punches, and went all the way against the girl. To the then Grandmaster’s surprise, Ritsuko proved to be far more resilient than she thought. The will to fight, and the eagerness to learn were exemplary; certainly something she wished Toshiko would pick up on again. Content with the results, Sofia eagerly awaits to see what the future holds for the Human. Despite no longer being a Quincy, she has the skill and the drive to be a true and powerful force to be reckoned with, if she doesn’t allow herself to remain idle.
Yaksha: This was the very first Hollow Sofia met face to face that she didn’t outright killed. The first time they met, Sofia was still the overly proud individual she used to be (much more than now). His witty attitude and his nature had earned him a swing that swiftly cut off one of his hands. What ended up being his saving grace was his oddly different persona and the way he behaved. Yaksha was completely different than any Hollow she had ever met, and she simply refused to entertain the idea something like that could exist.
Quite a bit of time would pass since their first encounter. By then Sofia had already faced off against the Goliath Shell and obtained the Eris Seal from Arianda. During that time, the Quincy was far more willing to accept things she otherwise wouldn’t. She was able to see some of the error in her archaic ways, a quality that would remain even after she rid herself of the influence of the Seal. The Hollow had healed his arm by then, and held no resentment for the woman. After apologizing for the events that transpired the first time, the two went out to a night on the town to enjoy themselves.
With every experience Sofia discovered that the world wasn’t so black and white as it seemed. Hollows and Demons were typically the bad guys as far as she was concerned, and the actions of the majority did indicate and corroborate her beliefs. Still, there were also necessary evils that made sure to what they could to create a better world, for themselves, and in turn, for others. Yaksha was among the only Hollow willing and ready to bring the fight to the Demons, trying to regain control of Hueco Mundo. There were rumors of an old Arrancar that had tried to do the same, but at the time of their meeting, nothing of note worth had been heard from said creature for some time. Gladly Sofia agreed to help him push back the Demons if he agreed to control the Hollow feeding on Humans, but none would come to pass. Unfortunately the man vanished, and with him did the ideals that held so much promise. Her only hope is that someday Yaksha returns and becomes the voice and the face his kind truly needs.
