On his shoulder rested a rather normal looking bokken with nothing too special. Tatsuya had been practicing with some of the shinigami recruits here. He'd not joined a Division or the Gotei officially. But he'd been roaming from Division to Division. Sort of talking with the troops and getting to know them. Here at the Realm enforcement, he spent some time. Resting his wooden sword he thought about his battle with Stefan again. In terms of skill and technique usage, it was a far gap to close. He didn't bother using two hands as the male came at him. This didn't seem to be seated as he blocked and deflected. One armed sword fighting as he began deflecting and diverting attacks. Tatsuya didn't move from his location as he seemed to be only remaining there. The smooth feel of the bokken as he tapped the male on the forehead. Only using the point as he slides into the male's guard carefully. He didn't let him fall though grabbing his hand. "You've got some fierce attacks, but don't forget your defense. " Tatsuya said stretching calmly as he smiled a bit. In this way, he could kind of help every single Division out and get a feel. This place. Made him feel so out of place at times. He was from a country and only had started journeying as a full-fledged warrior. He itched his head as the male asked for another. Tatsuya brought his bokken in front of him defending with it now again. The male had taken advice and better settled his defense. Not many openings this time so it meant he'd need to do something else. Tatsuya would have to use a bit of finesse to play with him this time. He spent time blocking with his bokken in front of him. The stance fix was good as felt the other would hit his stick. He twisted his right wrist sideways and slide it up instantly to the male's neck. Stopping short of doing it as he found himself getting better. "Thank you, you've helped me quite a bit with some of my training." Tatsuya wasn't lying or being dishonest as anything could help.
Stretching his frame he set the Bokken back on the rack neatly. Before returning to the group of men gathered in the main section. They were all busy and roaming around doing things. He sat down enjoying the view as he looked towards the trees. The blossoms were in bloom here, it was a first time seeing them. New Honoji didn't have such things in its area. It was a place with little life and growth of beautiful things. This was part of what made him such a rough and tough old man in some ways. Few people realized how old he was as it was, to begin with. Tatsuya and the previous Captain Kyoraku were similar in age. His mahogany colored orbs slowly studied the tree. Watching the people walk by and perform their daily task. This was the lives they had chosen in some ways. To protect the earth and file what seemed to be paperwork. On hollow appearance reports, he guessed. Or perhaps it was something else as they had that other one to deal with. No matter the place battle and survival would always be important.
Vanguard and many other places seemed to have that figured. Tatsuya could clearly see that much through his eyes. As a Shogun of that place, he'd learned to watch. Sometimes a leader had to observe instead of act. That was often more frustrating than any other moment. Because as much as you'd like to get involved or step forward. You sometimes had to sit back and watch those around you battle. Tatsuya couldn't very well jump into the fray every single moment. Despite him enjoying a good battle with people. It felt good to mix it up with tough enemies around the home. But this wasn't home and it paid to pay attention. The laws were different in that they had them. Shogun's had to maintain their people in this regard. Sachiko and Kagami were fairly good at maintaining in his absence. He did feel a bit homesick but it was for a good cause. He pitched at his scalp slightly before lowering his hand. This was a place of peace though it had seen hardship.

THE BLADE MAIDEN
KAGAYAKU NO MURASAKI
Having worked day in and day out to make sure her division was at least functional, Murasaki found it faintly disheartening that she seemed to be making relatively little progress. She didn’t blame herself, as it seemed like everyone was just going to the more established divisions. In the eyes of the rookie Captain, it just meant all the more reason to work harder and smarter! A two for one! They’d never see that coming! Or, maybe they would, but that was probably just as useful for her sake. Maybe then people would be ready to join the division.
Ah well, no sense in clinging to all that. She knew dwelling on stuff wouldn’t do her any good beyond bringing her down, and so instead she sat herself down on one of the many roofs of the Seireitei, a pot of plum tea on her right and a back of peach mochi on her left, and simply watched what was going on. Looked like Fourth Division was training, not too surprising there. She’d heard they had a new Vice Captain, though it didn’t look like they were around… Shrugging, Murasaki poured herself a cup of tea and returned to watching, but paused as she noticed someone distinctly not in the Gotei.
He looked like he was helping people out at least though, and it was probably fair to assume that if the guy wasn’t at least allowed around here, he’d probably have been kicked out by now. Setting her tea back onto its tray, the Blade Maiden stood, clapped her hands together, and, tapping into Kagayaku briefly, traveled down to the ground in a literal flash. Figuring that was all she needed to get this mystery man’s attention, Murasaki gave him a smile and a wave, her hands away from her blades to show she had no hostile intent.
“Hi, hi~! You just visiting, mister?”
One of the greatest benefits of Murasaki’s consistent youthful demeanor was that she could most definitely use it to her own advantage. She had asked a perfectly genuine question, one well within the normal realm of what might be asked in such a tone. But she was still a Captain, after all, and she did want to make sure she wasn’t letting a secret criminal sneak his way in!

His eyes shifted catching sight of the familiar mark. So she was like Kuro-san a Captain of this place. She was fast far quicker than most people he'd met. Tatsuya stood up a bit wincing. He'd done a bit of movement that had put some strain on his wounds. Tatsuya's entry and such to the Gotei was where he would select. As Kuro promised to endorse him for wherever he pleased. He had to pass one of two tests in order to do it. One was to fight the Captain which he elected against. The other was to be beaten to near death and hold his resolve. He took that beating but didn't seem to mind it. The man wore scars everywhere and not any of them were from Kuro. Some new ones may have been joining the bunch. He'd gotten a somewhat reputation from not dying from the beating. Holding true to his word and not drawing a weapon or changing things. So right now the ball was in his court and this Gotei was his home. At least for the moment as he got to know people and evolve things. "Sorry, they offered to do training after I got out of the infirmary. Captain Kuro put me through my paces. My name is Tatsuya Oda, it is nice to meet you Captain Murasaki-san." His name if it held any notable interest among Captains was another matter. This was after all the way he figured they conducted some stuff. Though he was certain he was being observed very closely. So he would conduct himself as one would expect of him. Tatsuya didn't come out strange or do anything odd. His body still ached a bit and her Squad had been kind. Some of the non-seated members saw him and they talked. Discussing the things generally front line people did. It was a fun place to be and enjoy the company of people. While he didn't know the report that Kuro-san had put in. He could only guess it had something to do with how he ended up. Tatsuya's resolve and the sheer threshold for pain were in a different realm. He didn't flinch at the whip or the sword coming at him. He accepted them as part of the reality before him.
Her squad people had been nice to the wounded older man. He had age on his side in a lot of departments. Though not many would realize how old he was or where he hailed from. HIs body seemed like something of the former Eleventh Division. It was a frame put through the ringer in more ways than imaginable. The pain was something you could take if you knew how. It wasn't just gritting your teeth and going through it. You had to have a clear idea of why you wanted to take it. His journey as a warrior needed something. A baptism of pain in this new world for him to endure. Stefan had made the picture very clear for him, this place was a world outside of the one he grew in. His journey would be a long one but for no venturing around the Soul Society was comfortable. The people here had been friendly enough to treat his wounds. In his homeland, he'd of had to fend for himself and survive. This was a different place he guessed in several ways. She held a refreshing youthful expression and a energy her people would respond too.
Truly this place was a kingdom that would never grow boring or dull.

THE BLADE MAIDEN
KAGAYAKU NO MURASAKI
Oh, so Captain Okami had let him in. Well, that wasn't much of her position to really speak on, or at least she wasn't going to call it into question right now. Rather, she sized up this guest carefully, still maintaining her girlish smile and entirely upbeat air around her. She still was far from hostile toward him, merely a touch reserved about him. Still, if another Captain had allowed him in, the least she could do was trust in that judgment.
“Kuro? I actually haven't seen him around in a bit, now that I think about it... But, either way! Nice to meet you, Mr. Oda. Looks like you already know, but I'm Kagayaku no Murasaki. You can just call me Murasaki if you like, or Captain Kagayaku. Whichever works for you.”
Truth be told, Murasaki was rather glad to have something to give her full attention to as a Captain. That wasn't to say she had been doing nothing around the Gotei, as naturally she gave this position her all. But the trouble with being a Captain of none was that you ended up not being able to delegate a whole lot of responsibility, and that in turn meant that a good deal of her time was spent personally on patrol on Earth. Which, if she was being entirely honest, was perfectly alright with her, considering how much she enjoyed simply spending time down there.
That said though, she was getting herself off topic! C'mon, girl, get yourself together! Refocusing her thoughts, she returned to the conversation at hand, less-subtly looking over his treated wounds and scars as a whole. She definitely could tell even at a glance that, whoever this Tatsuya guy was, he'd seen a good amount before he got here, and probably even before Kuro ran him through the wringer. It wasn't so much that Murasaki was impressed, but it was certainly something she was keeping in mind.
“So! What can I do for you here, Mr. Oda?”

He smiled a bit as he looked her over slowly she was impressive. Certainly capable and every bit the woman his young protegee had described. " Thank you for such warm hospitality. I met one of your people in the medical unit and he asked me to spar with him a bit. " He guessed his appearance was rough and held some rather curious backstory. Damien had even circulated the rumor it seemed about Tatsuya taking his arm. But that wasn't the juicy one it was him being Tsubasa's mentor despite being weaker than him. Swordsmanship is a constant learning period where one doesn't stop. It's a path that always evolves and changes when you stop it's over. This is the try cry of a swordsman in every way and form. "You are much like he described Murasaki-san, my pupil Tsubasa should have been much happier." He reached around in his kimono a bit searching for something for a moment. Tsubasa had written a letter explaining the situation for his adopted daughter. The letter was sealed in an envelope and held by a crimson wax type seal unbroken at present. He held the letter out for her as he smiled a bit. "This was left to me to deliver to you, I know not what is written. Only that he stressed the importance of it's delivery to you. I'm very happy he made such positive impacts in the world." He smiled somewhat as he waited for her to take the letter from his grip. Dearest Daughter, I am sorry to tell you like this. But I just can't do this anymore with this world. I've fought many battles and have exercised my power to it's fullest. Not for glory or for praise but for a selfish need to prove myself. I see now I am very much broken as a person. Fixing me may just be beyond this world's compass. You are my pride and joy in this world something I did right for once in my thousand years. The man holding this is Oda Tatsuya, my mentor, and teacher. While he lacks the power I hold his wisdom and experience makes him strong. I'd suggest him for the Gotei service, but this is your choice Daughter for you see so much clearer then I. With much affection Tsubasa Unabara the Former Pale Rider. " This was what the letter held in its contents unknown to the likes of Tatsuya.
Tsubasa laid down his title and left it by the wayside to some other zone of presence. Tatsuya was happy just to see that his student had made one fine person. That a positive impact was left somewhere as everywhere else was tiring and strange. Mirja Eeola and Henrex were two subjects he would say that didn't end well. Tatsuya could only give his shoulders a slight shrug as he cracked his neck from left to right. Not many could tell due to his features that he was fifteen hundred years old. He and Damien held rather a youthful appearance despite their age. He'd finished delivering the letter and training with the younger boy. It had been excellent training for him in the long run. His body's endurance was excellent still despite the injuries sustained at Kuro's hands.
He touched his hand to his facial scar thinking about the ache it had. This wasn't exactly a strange subject matter. But occasionally his scars hurt a bit reminding him of previous encounters. Though it held no purpose here as he observed the Captain. The Court Guard squads held a reputation in his homelands. They came in all shapes and sizes with potent powers. These were fascinating matters for him to observe even if only a bit. Tatsuya felt his body becoming a bit looser as he observed changes. Things had become different from previously as he envisioned those movements of Stefan Soan. So very different from his expectations of what he could perform. Mountain shattering blows with immense power and strength behind them. Perhaps he could grasp such a thing beneath it as though learning. His might had been weighed and measured as found wanting against that man. So the only thing to do was go on a journey and adventure around for a time. Maybe find a place he could roost for a spell to discover answers.

THE BLADE MAIDEN
KAGAYAKU NO MURASAKI
Murasaki was all too happy to speak with this man, and indeed the smile on her face became more genuine as she listened to him. Hearing that he was not only close to Mr. Unabara, but was apparently once his teacher, certainly gave him some clout in her eyes. Of course, she did know that Mr. Unabara was not the most well-received among the Gotei, and of course if it came to it she would have treated him as she was required to in her official capacity. But! That wasn't the topic of conversation right now. As Tatsuya handed the verdant-haired Captain the letter, she took it with perhaps more excitement than most would have been willing to show.
“Oh, really? Well, thanks for bringing it here, I mean that. And thank you for the compliment, too. I do like to think Mr. Unabara did a lot for me. If I can be a good sign of what he did, well, that makes me happy.”
Opening the letter with anticipation that only narrowly avoided matching a child on her birthday, Murasaki's smile seemed to fall away from not only her face, but the Soul Society itself as she read through the words inscribed upon it. There was a weightiness to the letter, a finality, and above all a profound dread that seemed to resonate through Murasaki's bones. She suspected that she wouldn't be seeing Tsubasa for a very long time, but that was hardly anything new. No, it was more that this particular time it seemed for an all too different reason, one she was of course worried about.
“Mr. Oda. Do you... Do you know where Mr. Unabara is? Do you know if he's okay?”
It seemed like a silly question to ask, and maybe on some level it was. She knew that Tsubasa was not the sort to particularly find himself in any sort of trouble, considering who he was. But at the same time, she suspected that the worst kind of trouble he could find would be that he made for himself, and there was something about this letter...well, it just made her uneasy. She was a worrier when it came to these sorts of things, she supposed.
“I'm sorry if you don't know, and I know it's a random question. Mr. Unabara wanted this letter to stay secret, so I won't betray that trust. I just... It would make me feel better if I knew he was doing alright.”

He smiled a bit and did something a bit uncharacteristic of himself walking over to the Captain. Slowly he patted her on the head smiling as he decided to answer her question. "I've got a hunch he's gone on a journey to find himself or perhaps see things differently. As his mentor, I can tell you his eyes looked good and I suspect he will be alright." He said before moving back removing his hand from her head. He'd meant it as sort of an affectionate touch to let her know it was alright. "Truth be told if you have questions about Tsubasa you can ask me anytime." Tatsuya didn't wield unimaginable power like Tsubasa did at this point. But he had something else about him that some stuck in darkness could latch on too. A light that burned brightly within him and illuminated a way for others. He held a willingness that Kuro found remarkable to take the pain. Just so as not to cause damage to the area around him. He took notice of the land and people before doing anything.
But as Angel could acknowledge his strength was remarkable especially when he wielded his sword seriously. But still, he could sense a gap between Stefan and himself. Some part of him did realize that reaching that point would be difficult. "I don't know if you know, but Tsubasa had four siblings as a boy. They were very ambitious for the time they came. Their time as assassins I think left an impression of him that's hard to remove." He said softly as he rubbed at the back of his neck. Tatsuya looked upwards at the sky and the clouds in it carefully. "The one thing Tsubasa did, was trying to see good in people who didn't have any. I think he believed in the light where only darkness resided. " He said further explaining to her why he left. Tsubasa didn't need a lot of reasons to pack it in. Tatsuya stepped back a bit so she could see his full body. "It's wonderful you can keep a promise to him in such, my adopted son. I cherish Tsubasa as though he were my own and will always do so. I made my promise to protect what he cherished with my body and soul. "
He slowly removed the top end of his kimono allowing her to see his chest. Scars of hundreds perhaps were all over his frame. It would be a miracle to find a spot where he lacked them. He wanted her to see that his body had already been put through hell. This wasn't an exaggeration as it did look as though he'd been stabbed everywhere. Closing his top up he cocked his head towards the young man who had been sweating and training with a bokken. "I met him by chance while I was recovering from Captain Kuro's test. He happened to see what I showed you. Asking for me to see if I could help him refine his sword a bit. Truth be told the place I come from the styles is mostly savage due to a lack of refined culture. " He glanced at the guy as he got a wave offering one back smiling. Wincing a bit as his body still ached from those shadows that man used.
Certainly did fit the assassination vibe the way he fought. But for now, it was best to focus on Murasaki. If she had questions about Tsubasa he did indeed have answers. He helped develop many of Tsubasa's sword techniques in the old days. Before deciding to protect the legacy Tsubasa made. Tatsuya's legacy was at home in this place he was merely a guppie.

THE BLADE MAIDEN
KAGAYAKU NO MURASAKI
Murasaki blinked in surprise at the headpat, in no small part due to the fact that things like that were fairly rare for her to be on the receiving end of. Not just because of her position, but the fact that, for most people, patting the head of a woman over 6' tall was a little awkward. Still, she got the message of the gesture, and though most people would have gotten a confused look, she gave Tatsuya a small smile at it.
“Is that so... Alright. Then I won't spend my time worrying about him. Besides, got lots of my own stuff to keep focused on, and I don't think he'd want me to get distracted.”
Listening intently to Tatsuya, the young captain clearly cared about what she was being told. She had heard a little bit about this in passing when she was a kid, but not really in this kind of detail. It still wasn't like, a super ton or anything, but it was definitely more than she was used to, and it was kind of nice to hear something about Tsubasa's youth. In her head he'd kind of just always been an adult. Murasaki beamed with pride as he mentioned her keeping a promise to him, a definite confidence swelling within her.
“So you taught Mr. Unabara, huh? Well, I'd love to hear about how that went some time. I definitely learned from him a little bit, but not as much as I might've liked to. I'd be really interested to see how he learned, and maybe try to develop on my own with that too.”

Tatsuya brought a hand to his jaw as he dusted himself off. He looked over at the young man Nishiki he'd been training with previously. "" Well, I can show a bit and tell you about it then. I'm sure he'd of wanted your o know these as you were very important to him. Enough for him to request me to protect you, though I believe that is unnecessary as you are quite powerful on your own." He said softly before gestured for the young man to bring weapons over. Nishiki saw the gestured and blinked at the Captain. Though not reading the situation really he'd spent time with Tatsuya. Boken was brought over two of them as Tatsuya slowly gripped it in his hand. "So I was a target the Unabara was assigned to kill, Tsubasa's brothers and he tried but failed. That's how we met, to begin with when he was but a boy. His fighting style at that time lacked finesse or form really focusing on killing people without many duels. " He said softly thinking back on it as he walked a bit over to test something. He gave the bokken a testing swing causing the ground beneath his swing with a single arm to crumble. " So it went, they each fought me and met their first failure that day. I also gave a home to a former Unabara who held no name. But moving on from that, I decided to teach him something important. He gave Nishiki a nod and the more solid member who held no seat moved towards him. But instead of attacking quickly the blow was slow. It was aimed at Tatsuya's shoulder blade on the right side. The blade barely tapped his shoulder as he brought his up and did the same. Though it wasn't exactly the same his blow stopped. It didn't touch skin and it wasn't like it didn't appear to do so. "Control, start slow and pick up speed. Striking your enemy's body while also learning to stay thy blade." He smiled a bit and let the male Nishiki go faster. Wooden blows began echoing as the male struck Tatsuya's torso in several places.
He merely flexed his muscle as the blade struck his right shoulder. Causing the solid bokken to break into splinters. "Did that drill with him for several days. I don't know how it looks, but it teaches a feeling for your sword. Let's you slowly forget things and begin to know. Also, it teaches the most important lesson I think we can learn..Control. " Tatsuya slowly stuck the Bokken into the ground leaving it extending out a bit. Before he drew his zanpakuto slowly to show her what he meant. Exhaling a soft breath he began making strikes from every angle. Though not the fastest thing he did his blows stopped without even chipping the weapon. No damage was happening to it as he learned to control his weapon. He sheathed his zanpakuto slowly with a click. "Thank you Amaterasu." He said beneath his breath offering thanks to his partner. "It also teaches you to embrace what makes you special in most cases. Our Zanpakuto Spirits are as much a part of us as anything. I believe Shinigami must spend their lives learning and developing a partnership with the Spirit in their sword. I passed that belief on to Tsubasa, or at least I hope I managed to do so." Nishiki's eyes looked bewildered for a moment. Still not getting the point of control with swordplay. Tatsuya wouldn't educate beyond showing them though. It wasn't his place to come in and say things. He was a visitor in this Division and Kuro's influence while impressive he imagined. It didn't hold the needed authority for such, she was his Captain and could tell him. If she saw it worth mentioning as he smiled a bit. "For the record Tsubasa could give a man a shave if he desired with his sword after this drill. He held so much control and poise with a sword. That it was laughable to even consider me a teacher. Though he still does for some reason. I suppose being old has its uses in some ways." He laughed a bit as he sat down crossing his legs.
That was part of the story if she wished to learn more he didn't mind teaching or showing. But this was Murasaki's choice how chose to view Tsubasa's mentor. Nothing he could say or do would change that. He was merely an old swordsman. One who'd seen the battle for what it was. The ground of which tests of lifetimes were given out.

THE BLADE MAIDEN
KAGAYAKU NO MURASAKI
Listening quite intently to Tatsuya's tale, it seemed as though Murasaki was hanging on his every word. She had heard bits and pieces of this story, of course, but this was something of a candid approach that she rarely got to hear. Watching Tatsuya's movements with the sword was also something she found interesting, though perhaps in a different way. There was always something nice about seeing how other people used a blade. It was hard to describe.
“Ah, I see... Well, I guess I see how Mr. Unabara got where he was. Everyone has to learn from somewhere, don't they?”
Murasaki's smile was quite cheery as she spoke, and the compliment given to Tatsuya was entirely genuine. After all, she did think he seemed pretty impressive, and she wouldn't want to make it seem otherwise. Unfortunately, she didn't have as much time to talk as she'd have liked, and so while she quite liked the idea of taking a seat alongside her guest, the captain had to decline.
“I'll have to hear more from you soon. Captaincy's busy work, and I've got tons of stuff to do, but I'll be sure I've got my best drinks and snacks ready for ya, yeah? Feel free to visit whenever ya want, and if anyone gives ya trouble, let 'em know that you're here as my guest.”
There was quite obviously genuine disappointment in Murasaki's voice as she spoke, and she offered a deep bow of apology. After all, she would have loved to spend all day here, but...oh well.
