I. Personality Traits

» Personality:

Diplomatic/Manipulative: His whole life, till this day, have been spent mingling with those thinking their blood was of gold. The worst properties, such as greed, envy, gluttony and wrath, were truly strong these people. And sadly, Colbert was constantly too dependent on them to just tell where to shove their attitude. This taught him how to ease someone with his words. Say things, so they would hear only what they wanted. He was able to suggest things in a manner people thought it was their idea. And important people loved, when he praised them for their genius ideas. He was ready to back down in some arguments, while not budging in others.

This nature came with a drawback, as Colbert became less of a person to be ready for active action. The constant talking, plotting and planning, as well, as thinking 10 steps ahead, had him become quite reluctant to enter an active confrontation. The guy will looks for ways to avoid it in most cases, be it by someone else doing the dirty job or talk his way out. Not even talking about the fact he hated entering situations unprepared.
Opportunist: When a young child, grabbing every possibility presented to him was the only true way how to survive. Starting from obeying older kids in the Children’s home just so they would leave him in peace for the day till selling his body for scraps of food. Later that turned into grabbing onto the only chances of better life, giving it all as a doctor’s mail boy, then assistant. And as his Calbert’s life became better, he looked for more ways to increase what he already had. He will be dedicated and stubborn in his goals, not giving up or letting go. Yes, he can put a certain goal aside for some time, but Leech will never forget about it and pursue again once the chance arises.
Greedy: Now, this Colbert will never admit to himself or others, actually, but greed is something, that has festered in him as a young boy and bloomed in a disgusting garden over the years. Only time he admitted on this sin, was when facing The Shadow and even then it took multiple tries. And the reason for such displeasure admitting of having the trait is because he then feels like being compared to the wealthy scumbags he had to endure all those years ago, when being human...And now, time to time.

But yes, Colbert Leech is a greedy man. He strives for power, knowledge, wealth and status. And it doesn’t seem it will be ever enough. No, cause after gaining one thing, the man will be looking at his next object of desire almost instantly. This goes from possessions, to new powers, and even when regarding lovers. He has many of them, new ones just coming along till they get tired of being one of many. His home is not far from a dragons nest.
Sadist: Probably for no one’s surprise, as he was a doctor of quite gruesome medical era, it is hard to not notice how Colbert enjoys inflicting pain to others. Now, he will say it’s not true and everything is simply done in name of science, but there is this smile of pure joy, as well, as spark of amusement in eyes, when hearing screams of his test subjects. Not talking about the extra cheerful mood the man is in afterwards.

This trait of his probably took root as he was abused, when being a child and, upon gaining status and power, he had a chance to return the sentiment. And afterwards he just believed that through pain people grow stronger or learn their lesson. If they died, it was only their fault for being too weak.
Kinky-Little-Shit/Flirty: As mentioned before, Colbert has many partners and the main reason for that is because he has both high libido and wide specter of sexual preferences. He can’t say he has tried it all. For sure, not, but he had tried a lot and enjoyed mostly all of it. Sex is probably the only place, where the man allows control being taken away from him, but even that on only really specific moods with specific people. Many would even easily mix Colbert up with someone from House of Temptation just because how fast the man gets horny and how little he can last without sex. And how long he can go for it. And while the Sueki wouldn’t die from letting out his sexual frustration, he will get easily to annoy and fast to enrage, if left longer without sex. Self-pleasing doesn’t help much.

Aside from that, in social interaction Colbert can be both high-key or low-key flirty. If the person had caught his attention and the male is feeling any physical attraction to them he will flirt. Be it low-key to pass time or seriously to get someone in his bed. In times he can be cheesy flirt, sweet flirt or bluntly a nasty-dirty flirt, all depends on how the situation deems fit. And sometimes the male will do it just because he feels bored out of his mind and there is nothing else to do.
Envious: Personality trait that had accompanied him as long, as the male had remembered himself, but will deny having it, if anyone will say something about it. From being a child to even now, if Colbert sees someone with something he doesn’t have, in most cases he will want it. Be it a person, title or possession, the man will feel the bitter bile boiling in his chest, sometimes filling his mind with that thing he really wants and how he hates the person, who is having it. And mostly he will successfully oppress this want as much, as possible or please it as fast, as possible. But be sure, when that envy wins over everything else, you can say he becomes like possessed. All resources, all his conscious time is spent in thinking how he wants the thing he can’t get. And that may force him to do some desperate things.
Prideful: The raven haired Sueki had worked hard to where he is today. Went through loops of fire, pits of acid and a lot of idiotic people. Dedicating years after years of bettering himself, he knows his worth and that there are only few as impressive, as he himself. Yes, Colbert may bow in front of queens and kings, beings with power of god’s, but he also knows it is only matter time and work till he reaches that place, then higher, before making others bow before him.

Such pride is both boost for the man’s development, but also dangerous, when dealing with those seemingly lower and weaker than him. The positive, almost nothing others do will stop the male from aiming for the stars and believing it is possible to reach them. While he does compare himself to others, the goal is always to find how he can surpass said person. The negative, he tends to look down at people a lot and once you are something look down for Colbert, he will think of you as a lesser being, life given to you just so you can make his life more convenient or help to reach certain goal. And that can sometimes backfire badly.
Loose Morals: If that hasn’t been obvious from what was mentioned before, Colbert has never had grasp of human morals and etiquette, as much, as a decent living being should have. But again, he is far from a decent being. Causing pain to gain what he wants, lying and deceiving, abusing the weak and backstabbing people. Never a pang of guilt in the mans black heart. And again, the reason behind it rooted from his childhood and how adults and kids older than him interacted with the boy. He copied them then, becoming something even worser.

If confronted about that, the man will for sure try to excuse himself by saying it’s their fault for being weak, dum or anything of that nature, so he can easily abuse these people. Sometimes he will also suggest he is helping other being the asshole he is by making them learn about the world and pushing them to become stronger through hardships. In truth, that rarely happens and he very well knows that.
Hypocrite: Such, we got to this point, yes, he is a hypocrite. He will blame others for doing things he does or doesn’t do himself. The man will pick on others flaws, even if he has them as well, even in much grander scale. And of course, the man will deny of that. Some will believe, some not. This is probably the easiest way how to anger him as well. One will definitely get on the mans bad side then. And this is also how usually Colbert’s calm, unbothered appearance can be shattered instantly. Cause, knowing this means a person had seen through all the layers of masks he has crafted in years and now tries to reveal the man into the light. And Sueki’s doesn’t like light.
Patient: And surprised or not, Colbert does have good qualities as well, though, they are quite few. Beside being diplomatic, he is quite patient. A virtue needed in two things he does best, that is people and event manipulation, as well, as his scholars career. Actually, mostly thanks to that and his natural gift for arcane arts, that the man got where he is today and was able to build himself up, once thinking everything was lost. Thought that you will never grow old also helps with not minding to wait a decade or two.All good things come in time and all poisons need time to take their effect.

Of course, again, this can backfire, when Colbert gets too patient. Sometimes he misses the opportunity, if it is as fleeting, as smoke of candles. He tends to wait to long, especially in last few hundreds of years and then pout four year or two each time the opportunity was missed. That happens, when time slowly loses its meaning.
Dedicated...Kind of: So, from what you read before, Colbert may seem like someone with dedication problems. And that’s true, while same time not true. Yes, in relationship he puts no long term dedication in holding it, having fleeting interests only. When he gets what he wants, yes, this joy of success last for a very short time, but while the man is actually interested in something you can see amazing dedication coming from him. He will put both his soul and mind in making the thing happen, goal to be reached and such, what makes him quite dangerous, when it is a person or object the man is interested in. Though, even if it just a project most time then not it carries victims in the process.

Side Note: As this doesn’t cover really any of personality traits before, but more, his personality in total, most of Colbert’s personality traits had formed, because he has never had someone to care for or someone caring for him in that matter. Growing older the man quickly learned everyone had selfish interests in gaining his trust and where discarded without second thought. That was the only way to survive at the given time. Such, it would be possible for the man to change once someone would make him actually care about more than himself. But then this person should be in no need of anything from Colbert himself. And they would need to prove it.

» Natural & Unique Abilities:

Arcane Prodigy: Magic is a sphere most spend decades after decades studying, sacrificing time, sleep and personal time in doing so. Most of practitioners are old man and even older crones, with great deal silver in their hair, if any is even left on their balding skulls. Colbert was never the case. What took days for some to learn, he could in hours. Obscure and complicated magical theories were simply child games and while others spent months to prepare for a more complicated casting, he was weaving together spells on the spot like it was nothing. Only after a year of study he was able to be compared with one of oldest members in his order then. After two he had already surpassed them. Magic was like second breathing for the man, natural and needed to survive.
Energy Scavenger: Be it Prima Materia for when he was Human or Night Energy as Sueki, Colbert's body passively tries to draw as much excess energy from it's surrounding, as possible. This has proved useful countless times, him being able to last much longer then others with the same amount of power. It also opened doors to perform much more complicated alchemical experiments and magic rituals, as he was able to gain back energy that usually is wasted in such processes.

Sadly, this comes with unwanted side-effects. Because of the constant surge of large amounts of energy going through the males body it has become frailer then those of his level would be. This makes him extremely not meant for close combat situation and is the main reason for his rather slim, even bony body built.
Blood Bank: Unfortunate slaves aren't the only subjects of Colbert's experiments. Few of them he himself tried, once deeming the procedure safe. The result of one of those was that his body contains twice as much blood, as a standard Human or Sueki, giving larger reserves for casting his Blood Magic. It also increases the time needed, before he needs yet again to feed, but, at the same time, the male also needs increased amount of blood to feel actually fed. This is one of the main reasons why he tried for so many years to find new and new ways to gain sources to feed from. This trait sadly adds additional boost to his fragility, as many of the man's organs are replaced by more blood, as well, as big amount of muscle mass. Their functions substituted by Night Energy.
Infernal Wheel of Thoughts: This is how the male calls his thought process. He is constantly thinking. Constantly plotting how to increase his wealth, status and power. Developing new sketches for both inventions and spells. There is this huge hurricane of thousands of thoughts in second, all spinning and throwing out what is needed at the moment. Many would probably go insane and yes, Colbert realizes he isn't completely right in the head, but the male knows how to deal with this chaos and be a genius he is with it.
Memory Palace: Also called Method of Loci (Loci being "places" in Latin), first used in Greek rhetorical practice, it became again popular in early 19th century by occultists in western countries. It is a memory enhancing technique, where one builds a house, castle or a palace in their mind and connects pieces of information to a certain item. Interacting with the item then allows the person to remember the information connected with it.

Colbert has been building his Memory Palace for around 560 years now and it had grown in ginormous sizes. The information his mind stores and has access to at any given moment is larger then some of 25th centuries super computers. This is the reason behind why the man doesn't have any sketches or notes of any of his researches or spells. Why he doesn't keep almost any written information at all. It is all kept in his brains.

Usually after few years of working with Memory Palace's a person also will see increase in their ability to understand things, as well, as remember events before the creation of the Palace, as most of our memories aren't lost, but just misplaced in our minds. So, one could only imagine what happens if a person practices this technique for few hundred years. At this point Colbert remembers everything about his life, till the time in his mothers womb (A lot of black, saying the truth).

The most surprising part of this, though, was that with how long he had practiced it with combination of his supernatural race and strong affinity with magic, Colbert found access to what he calls the Collective Palace. It is an immense labyrinth of literally countless rooms, each holding pieces of different information. This varies from room to room and seemingly there is no logic of how it is placed. This palace here is the mental representation of every living beings mind. Here one can find entrances to other people Memory Palaces or, if they don't have one, rooms that represent their mind. It is a great source of information, but unlike using his own Memory Palace, where the access to information is instant, in here Colbert needs to enter trans-like state, as well, as have a clear goal what he wants to find. Because otherwise he may as well look for a needle in the vast space. Additional risk this carries is fact, that once entering ones Memory Palace or the representation of their mind, the person, if their Willpower or Mental Deduction is on par or bigger then the Sueki's, will be able to join him. There this persons tier will be counted as two major tiers higher, having god-like power, if their Willpower is Grandmaster. Additionally to that, Leech can then only leave with person's he intruded permission and afterwards that person can enter his minds representation whenever they want, even to go so far as to form their own Memory Palace.

Asides that, the generic drawback for having as large Memory Palace, as Colbert does is that one needs to remember a certain sequence, called "The Order of When and Where". It works as a map to navigate your own mind and, if for some reason you forget it, the person would enter a coma he could never exit, as he would be lost in his own mind.
Arcane Senses: Another ability Colbert had since birth and became a great boost once he learned how to utilize it. When young, the boy was capable to see energy. His eyes could pierce through even what many supernaturals couldn't and marvel how all objects made or containing some kind of energy glowed with one or another color. This later transferred from sight to also smell and hearing, not surprising anyone, that he was almost taken to asylum because of his gift.

As he became more attuned with all this, he started to notice not only auras of different objects, but also people, such learning humans weren't the only ones to inhabit this world. Asides from starting to see wandering spirits, Hollows he tended to avoid mostly and occasional Shinigami, he also could tell apart the vile aura of a Demon and calming light that came from angels, the Iramasha. After that followed the energy flows. Giant streams of different color light going through streets, sky and ground, connecting with some people and completely avoiding others. That was quite overwhelming and Colbert became of a slight shut-in for few weeks, until he managed to take control of this ability of his.

But once he did it developed further, along the same time the man actively started to dabble in alchemy and magic. He started to see threads of magic. The code written in each spell, that made it into what it was. To simple "destroy", "burn" of fire ball to complicated weaving's of rituals to bring life into lifeless. He learned how to read them, understand their meaning, tear apart and then create something new. And in time, as centuries passed, the Sueki learned that a lot of spells, even for different races, held something similar. Not enough, so he could copy them, but Colbert was able in years to learn from Kido, Demon Spells, Aether magic and such.
Medical Doctor: Let's not forget how Colbert pulled himself out of the cities mud and it was through his knowledge in medical field. While being a human it wasn't much. A bit he learned from his mentor and a lot of magic. The miracle results were given to the leech procedure, which in result gave the man his last name. People in 19th century weren't too creative. Though, after becoming a Sueki and settling down he found desire to continue his studies and learn the craft.

Such, few years were spent traveling to different universities, that at the time were making one new medical discovery after another. And with constant advancement in the field, plus, his own experiments with living subjects, only in matter of time he became something of a expert. Standard operation were no problems, as well, as most complicated ones. Genetic experiments became a hobby of his, as well, as creating mutants for self-defense, as well, as just fun. A lot of times the man liked to combine it with magic to gain even more interesting results.
Viribus Sanguis: Blood Strength from Latin, is a secondary energy source Colbert discovered after studying magic with Dragomirs for over then three decades. It fuels his own branch of magic, Sanguinen Es, as well, as it is used in most of his techniques. Still, one needs to posses Night Energy to both extract it from blood and be able to control it.

The man had been wandering for long what made Human blood so different from bodily liquids of other races, such as Shinigami, Demons and such. Humans needed it to survive. Fuck it, they needed blood for their bodies to be able even functioning properly. It was Sueki's one key to immortality. It was quite dangerous for someone with arcane powers to gain even small drop of their enemy blood and all attempts of blood magic, though short lived, were quite powerful and volatile. With such question in mind Colbert started a long process of splitting and experimenting with Human and Sueki blood. Old scrools of blood magic attempts were pulled out, along side similar other practices. After immense time and more then one headache he finally managed to notice spark of energy. And that then gave motivation until Leech discovered how to extract it. Blood's Strength.

This energy is what makes Humans so different from other races. The blood, holding it, gives life to the body and youth to Sueki. And once extracted with help of Night Energy, it becomes a powerful source of energy. For better or worse, soon afterwards Colbert learned others couldn't replicate his findings. Not at start, at least. If given his blood and small dose of already extracted Viribus, the Sueki in question will then gain the ability as well, that, though, being as weak, as a newborn pup.

Besides having additional energy source to gain from, the ratio is that 1 part Night Energy can control 3 parts Viribus, a person initiated will have much more potent blood in regards for ritual sacrifices, potions and so on. Not only that, to other Sueki it will taste like finest wine, most delicious food, it will overwhelm with just how good it tastes. And smell isn't anything less, as those practicing the art will generate almost irresistible aroma. [This is RP flavor. Everyone can decide on their own how strong it effects them, not even basing on Willpower]
Sanguine Es: School of Magic Colbert created after learning how to control Viribus Sanguis and having a argument with, that time, head of Dragomir families head. Being done with the conservative family and having gained enough knowledge of Thaumaturgy to understand the differences, as well, as similarities between Sueki and Human magic, he felt more hen capable to create something of his own. Such was born Sanguine Es, magic consisting of combination between different spheres of arcane practice, all combined by use of blood for spells source of power.

After the approval of app, each new spell will be handed in for approval, as the standard rules for Kido, Demon magic etc. If already created and approved character gains the ability to cast Sanguine Es, their skill starts from Untrained. Otherwise the standard Skill Sheet rules apply.
Thaumaturgy: The inherited magic of Dragomir family, the knowledge has been passed from generation to generation. Usually it was strictly reserved only for family members, though, Colbert got his hands on, as the art lacked practitioners after Great Blood Purge. The man was accepted as a pupil and left only after three decades, when argument of beliefs split the two apart. Not like his own Sanguine Es, Thaumaturgy doesn't require Viribus, but Night Energy. On top of that, it is much more standardized compared to Iramasha or Demon magic.
