THE QUINCY PRODIGY

Artist: N/A - Song: N/A

Nice. Very nice. The man was a welcomed surprise indeed. It wasn’t his power or battle potential that caught her attention but the singular oddity he was. Sofia had been adapted to fighting against superior opponents time and time again. It was the only way she could challenge herself and avoid being bored otherwise. In fact, save for simple squabbles of training, it looked like she had never faced up against someone that wasn’t her superior; at least on paper. That’s the way she liked it. The battle with the leader of Vastime proved to be perhaps as difficult as her battle with the former Captain Commander but for entirely different reasons. While Tsubasa proved a challenge for life and death based solely on the power of his onslaught, Hayden looked to be as much of a challenge essentially because so far his abilities seemed specifically tailored to battle her and her kind. Were they not allies she would have come to question whether he trained to fight the Demons or the Quincy. But in the end, pinned against the wall, almost out of options, and on the foreseeable brink of death was all the excitement she needed, and all that she had craved and longed for.

His earlier display of energy had been monumental, but it was to be expected. The area shook and trembled under the magnitude of their energies. But even then, it was almost as if the whole vicinity was completely silent to her. Everything but her own music was tuned out, save for the sounds she wished to hear. Having been in the thick of combat for so long she had learned to thrive under constant pressure, and make outside interference seem as white noise as she focused on what mattered to her. And there was certainly a lot going on in the field. Her strategy had worked for the most part, but it was clear she couldn’t keep resorting to it for any considerable amount of time lest she saw it fail and surrender to a fate worse than she imagined. The time for running was long past.

Despite the blinding speed at which the Melody carried the sharpened feathers, Hayden was able to outrun them, seemingly with ease. The Quincy knew beforehand that as it was, had he tried to escape them, he would. What really surprised her was the outcome of the feather blades finally hitting the black armor-like look he brought forth. Not only were they stopped like a form of barrier, but the energy dissipated into a different kind soon after. The actual conversion or transdifferentiation was clearly visible as she focused on the reishi. And what’s more, there was what looked like a large outline of a black triangle in the sky, no doubt some form of offensive maneuver in the making. Not being able to keep the other 500 blades within the Torspiegel much longer, the girl simply created the second Torspiegel a few meters underneath the first, firing off the feathers out of it. This time however the feathers wouldn’t be fired directly at the king but rather all around the field. Why? Why not. They certainly wouldn’t stand a chance against the defensive maneuver they had failed against, so instead, they were just scattered for the time being.

”I’ve fought against two individuals already with a peculiar form of energy that behaves not entirely too different from yours. It's not the same. That much it's obvious from its peculiar energy composition, and its signature, yet its effects are equally troublesome. I’m starting to believe I got dealt a bad hand, or maybe I should dedicate more time to combat that sort of thing.”

She had a point. Deveta’s Shell had the Death Energy. It was a very powerful and extremely annoying power with a diverse number of uses that proved a struggle to overcome. Ghislain had his dark energy that behaved in a similar manner, and turned out to be a nightmare to battle. And now Hayden had, whatever his power was. It seemed as though fate would have that the Quincy was set to battle some of the most odd fighters out there. But in the end, she didn’t really regret it as it was in part the reason why she continued to grow stronger, and well beyond beings over a millenia older than her. Sometimes it was difficult to remember, but she was barely past 20, facing up against beings that were simply ancient. For a simply human, let alone a Quincy on this day and age, it was memorable on its own regard.

The Rona blade would dematerialize back into its ring form on her hand just as the violin blade did the same into nothingness. The later was just a conduit to her musical effect as she could create the concerts that drowned the field with a wave of her hand or a singular thought of her mind. On one hand, almost as if through telekinetic effect, a hand feeling sphere would be tossed up into the air before it exploded into a bright silvery white light which quickly turned a hazy gray, and finally a black that dissipated in an instant. On its place, an enormous Basilisk with a length of 50 meters from the tip of its head to the end of its tail stood menancily. Over its head, the Quincy stood ready to ride him into battle. It would difficult to see given the distance, the height, and her diminutive size in comparison, but the girl would bob her head and nod momentarily. After all, beyond normal conversation and snake hissing sounds, Nagini the Basilisk and Sofia could communicate their thoughts through their own spiritual connection. Something rather disconcerting that was likely to have gone unnoticed to Hayden however was the momentary change in Sofia’s eye color. When the technique was brought forth, her eyes would flicker for a split second from their typical golden hue to a deep red.

Spoiler:

It was a form of remnant and stigma from her use of the seal before she discarded it. No Quincy possessed such dark powers unless it was their own unique thematic design. Quincy by nature had powers that delved and portrayed the angelic, the heavenly, and the sacred, at least from their own point of view. The surge in power she obtained during her time with the seal was used as a means to darken and bring out a truly terrifying effect to the techniques she created during that time. It was easy to notice which of her techniques were created thanks to mixing the Quincy power with that of the seal of Eris. Nagini was among them, but it was hardly the darkest or most terrofying of her techniques. The seal was yet another triumph or trophy in the girl’s repertoire as there was simply no record of anyone ever having been marked and successfully being able to remove it, and surviving without it. She was a living testament to the force of will and the drive she possessed, as well as the lengths she would go to reach her goals. The prodigy was still centered in helping her people and the Earth to triumph over Demons, but there was something that never changed, even after ridding herself of the seal: to her, the end still justified the means.

As she stood, the same geigenbogen would appear once more, this time suspended horizontally before her. Placing two of her modified green bladed seele over it, the girl would fire them off towards Hayden. It didn’t really matter whether he tried to outrun them or block them as they were never meant to hit him directly. Before they got within a ten meter radius of him the two would part ways in opposite directions and away from him, impaling themselves on the ground far away from each other, and them. More importantly, whether as a ruse or not, the basilisk Nagini would have used its slithering smog as it fired it off towards the vicinity of the vizard. The hazy dark purple smog certainly had its own unique effects, but with the field devoid of most things besides them, it would probably not show up until it was too late. The effects that would be obvious right away however were that the cloud of smog obscured not just sight but also hid the spiritual presence of the two skillfully well to all but those whose level of reishi manipulation or energy sensing were beyond hers. More importantly, the smog used the Melody as its carrier method since Nagini was allowed dominion over it as well, meaning it could travel at the very same speeds hers could. And beyond that, any real change or opposition in wind velocity would be met with a similar force of such a magnitude as to try to contradict a backlash. The tables were not outright turned, but the heat of the battle was still in its infancy.

KING OF VASTIME

DESMOND HAYDEN

The Pen and the Sword [Hayden] - Page 2 6EdIfMt

This was the good shit. The shit which made your blood begin to pulse and thrum within your body. The feeling of his body being assaulted by foreign powers trying to make him succumb and yield but instead of doing that he raged against the storm. Desmond Hayden wasn't even going all out yet, but this little bird had something which was worth entertaining- but he would not be defeated so easily. After all, he had a reputation to maintain between the two of them and to the world. A question came into his mind:

Who would win, the prodigy or the determined?

However the man remained kneeled as the blades where shot, the feeling of the impending assault beginning to end for the moment. But even with that being said from the time of her speaking to the spreading of the blades on the field his attention was on a singular aspect. The black triangle in the area, in that time the triangle would begin to simply fall down creating a semi-ring around the edge of the arena encircling both of them. While they where in the triangle of energy Sofia may feel slightly off but nothing directly noticable, but for Hayden she would see that he was beginning to rise.

As he got to his knees she had thrown the two blades at him only for them to divert their path. But still he remained, his right hand extending almost slowly as she summoned her beast forth. A breath of darkness would escape his mouth as she may notice his muscles beginning to pulsate and thrum. His fingers would slowly wrap around the hilt of his Zanpakatou, slowly beginning to draw the blade as a bright light began to shine from the blade. Along the edge of the blade it seemed like the sun it's self was being placed directly in her eyes, which can of course create minor discomfort but more importantly makes it hard to accurately attack.

His blade would be fully drawn once the monster began to open their mouth, but as soon as it was drawn a crackle of lightning was heard. BOOM. Which was simply the indicator of what was about to come as both of his hands gripped the blade, he would allow her to taste a completely unrestricted blow. Both hands. Blade drawn. The power multiply in his hands would become apperant in this moment, there was the real chance of some type of serious injury or persistant injury if she chose to take this blade strike unrestricted.

As he lifted the blade above his head the beast was beginning to spew forth it's fog towards him. But before it could reach him the world it's self seemed to split in half as he slashed the blade down. His feet parted slightly to ground himself, the blade slicing downward generating such force and power that the very shockwave was enough to crack the arena earth beneath them. The speed of the strike undetecable by the normal human eye. The shockwave generated was enough to completely throw around the blades she emplaced earlier, a supernatural force empowering the strike.

However the black triangle remained in place in the arena, once the blades where thrown into the borders of the black triangle them seem to just.. cease to exist. No energy was detected, nor was their energy shifted. In fact, it felt gone for the time being. But due to Sofia's high understanding of Reiroyoku she would feel their faint presence within the darkness.

Ryodan:

Once the force and the aftermath of the single strike was felt, the smog or anything not directly tethered to the earth enough to sustain the strike- Hayden would be standing there. His clothing torn and tattered from the raw force generated by the single blade strike. It is likely Sofia has never quite witnessed a strike of this magnitude, perhaps the speed from Tsubasa but not quite with this backing.

It would be this moment the King would speak, carefully so she understood the gravity of what he had to say.

"I rarely draw my blade, but you will find the danger of this battle increased. There are few men and women who contend with me in strength and speed; I may not have the large array of techniques- but my skillset is finely adapted to one purpose. Tread, carefully."

The Melody

Artist: Carrotwine - Song: Dark Side Of The Road

There did not seem to be a reason to worry about the geometrical dark figure he had created, but she knew better. There was no way to ascertain exactly what its purpose was, but she could easily tell a disturbance in the levels of energy thereafter, so she kept on her toes. When he drew his blade, the light was blinding enough to be distracting. But even if she could actually see well, she chose not to. Closing her eyes would not have been wise for anyone but her. She was as well versed a warrior as she was a musician. In the darkness of her mind she could feel the levels of energy fluctuating, his and hers. She could hear the subtle tones of her Melody coursing through the area and feeding her information like the stroke or pluck of a chord on a cello.

When the thunderous slash was released, she recognized it for what it was; something very powerful and highly dangerous. In the heat of the moment she could recognize a handful of ways she could respond, but none were as of yet fitting or entirely necessary. Instead, Nagini responded with a bold movement before Sofia had even instructed him to do so. The enormous Basilisk got in between her and the attack, coiling and turning in such a manner as to obscure her, and take the full brunt of it. Her basilisk was her second strongest beast, and one who could not be summoned again. Unfortunately, his sacrifice would essentially mark its end in the battle though not with a parting gift typical of its scaly self.

Spoiler:

”Not bad, not bad at all. I’d like to see that again, though this time, I’ll step it up a notch.”

Until then, though not holding back too much, Sofia was making sure to keep things tidy and as far from broken as possible. Hayden’s choice of attack was her green light to let loose just a bit more. At least she knew the sort of attack she would be facing, and she’d make sure not to get caught off guard by it again. Bringing a hand to her bosom, it glowed a golden hue and enveloped her body. Next to her, a silhouette of her form in the same golden light appeared and disappeared to reveal a very distinctive form. It was a woman almost indistinguishable from Sofia; almost. Her name was Sophie. The differences were few. She was no more than an inch or two taller than Sofia, with longer hair, and fox ears. She was also a bit bustier, for whomever it mattered to. Beyond that, their white outfits were near identical save for the lack of black tights on Sophie. The technique was one of Sofia’s greatest undertakings as not many Quincy could claim to be able to do this. It wasn’t her most powerful ability by any extent, but it was certainly one of the most difficult to create initially. Sophie stood about two to three meters behind Sofia, and from the get go, her eyes were locked with Hayden’s.

The Pen and the Sword [Hayden] - Page 2 D4i9Ngw

Spoiler:

”Here,” said Sofia as she tossed the other girl a Ginto Sphere. It was unclear just yet what kind it was or what it could but, but Hayden was bound to find out soon enough.

From her location, Sophie brought the Ginto Sphere up to her face so it covered most of it. As she finally brought it down, Hayden could see her licking her lips before biting down on them. The sort of motions she did with her lips and her tongue over the Ginto Sphere were beyond explanation, and one would think he would need no help in trying to figure out what each lick, and what each graze of the lips over the ball-like sphere meant. Suddenly, Sofia looked back, just in time for Sophie to change her expression to one of disapproval of her opponent, shaking her head side to side.

”This time you’re going down,” said Sofia before drawing both one of her custom green seele, and the Rona blade from her regalia into her hands.

”Yes,” said Sophie biting her lower lip far more lustfully obvious now, ”He sure will.”

Wasting no time, Sofia would try and rush Hayden with both of her unique blades drawn. Sophie kept up the pace, holding still the Ginto Sphere on one hand, while using a custom seele on the other. Despite their fast speeds, the distance between them did not change once. Their sparring time was about to take a turn for the better in a multitude of ways. There were certain tools Sofia was dying to try out, and see how they fared against him. As for Sophie, there were tools she wanted to try out too, though one would fear as to the means of acquiring such a thing. Sofia was fully aware of the difference between their personalities, but at least in battle she was able to keep Sophie relatively in check. Besides, she couldn’t keep her out for too long, though she highly doubted she’d be able to keep her away once the battle finished. Still, that was a different battle she was willing to fight when it came time to.
