THE QUINCY PRODIGY
Artist: N/A - Song: N/A
Nice. Very nice. The man was a welcomed surprise indeed. It wasn’t his power or battle potential that caught her attention but the singular oddity he was. Sofia had been adapted to fighting against superior opponents time and time again. It was the only way she could challenge herself and avoid being bored otherwise. In fact, save for simple squabbles of training, it looked like she had never faced up against someone that wasn’t her superior; at least on paper. That’s the way she liked it. The battle with the leader of Vastime proved to be perhaps as difficult as her battle with the former Captain Commander but for entirely different reasons. While Tsubasa proved a challenge for life and death based solely on the power of his onslaught, Hayden looked to be as much of a challenge essentially because so far his abilities seemed specifically tailored to battle her and her kind. Were they not allies she would have come to question whether he trained to fight the Demons or the Quincy. But in the end, pinned against the wall, almost out of options, and on the foreseeable brink of death was all the excitement she needed, and all that she had craved and longed for.
His earlier display of energy had been monumental, but it was to be expected. The area shook and trembled under the magnitude of their energies. But even then, it was almost as if the whole vicinity was completely silent to her. Everything but her own music was tuned out, save for the sounds she wished to hear. Having been in the thick of combat for so long she had learned to thrive under constant pressure, and make outside interference seem as white noise as she focused on what mattered to her. And there was certainly a lot going on in the field. Her strategy had worked for the most part, but it was clear she couldn’t keep resorting to it for any considerable amount of time lest she saw it fail and surrender to a fate worse than she imagined. The time for running was long past.
Despite the blinding speed at which the Melody carried the sharpened feathers, Hayden was able to outrun them, seemingly with ease. The Quincy knew beforehand that as it was, had he tried to escape them, he would. What really surprised her was the outcome of the feather blades finally hitting the black armor-like look he brought forth. Not only were they stopped like a form of barrier, but the energy dissipated into a different kind soon after. The actual conversion or transdifferentiation was clearly visible as she focused on the reishi. And what’s more, there was what looked like a large outline of a black triangle in the sky, no doubt some form of offensive maneuver in the making. Not being able to keep the other 500 blades within the Torspiegel much longer, the girl simply created the second Torspiegel a few meters underneath the first, firing off the feathers out of it. This time however the feathers wouldn’t be fired directly at the king but rather all around the field. Why? Why not. They certainly wouldn’t stand a chance against the defensive maneuver they had failed against, so instead, they were just scattered for the time being.
”I’ve fought against two individuals already with a peculiar form of energy that behaves not entirely too different from yours. It's not the same. That much it's obvious from its peculiar energy composition, and its signature, yet its effects are equally troublesome. I’m starting to believe I got dealt a bad hand, or maybe I should dedicate more time to combat that sort of thing.”
She had a point. Deveta’s Shell had the Death Energy. It was a very powerful and extremely annoying power with a diverse number of uses that proved a struggle to overcome. Ghislain had his dark energy that behaved in a similar manner, and turned out to be a nightmare to battle. And now Hayden had, whatever his power was. It seemed as though fate would have that the Quincy was set to battle some of the most odd fighters out there. But in the end, she didn’t really regret it as it was in part the reason why she continued to grow stronger, and well beyond beings over a millenia older than her. Sometimes it was difficult to remember, but she was barely past 20, facing up against beings that were simply ancient. For a simply human, let alone a Quincy on this day and age, it was memorable on its own regard.
The Rona blade would dematerialize back into its ring form on her hand just as the violin blade did the same into nothingness. The later was just a conduit to her musical effect as she could create the concerts that drowned the field with a wave of her hand or a singular thought of her mind. On one hand, almost as if through telekinetic effect, a hand feeling sphere would be tossed up into the air before it exploded into a bright silvery white light which quickly turned a hazy gray, and finally a black that dissipated in an instant. On its place, an enormous Basilisk with a length of 50 meters from the tip of its head to the end of its tail stood menancily. Over its head, the Quincy stood ready to ride him into battle. It would difficult to see given the distance, the height, and her diminutive size in comparison, but the girl would bob her head and nod momentarily. After all, beyond normal conversation and snake hissing sounds, Nagini the Basilisk and Sofia could communicate their thoughts through their own spiritual connection. Something rather disconcerting that was likely to have gone unnoticed to Hayden however was the momentary change in Sofia’s eye color. When the technique was brought forth, her eyes would flicker for a split second from their typical golden hue to a deep red.
- Spoiler:
It was a form of remnant and stigma from her use of the seal before she discarded it. No Quincy possessed such dark powers unless it was their own unique thematic design. Quincy by nature had powers that delved and portrayed the angelic, the heavenly, and the sacred, at least from their own point of view. The surge in power she obtained during her time with the seal was used as a means to darken and bring out a truly terrifying effect to the techniques she created during that time. It was easy to notice which of her techniques were created thanks to mixing the Quincy power with that of the seal of Eris. Nagini was among them, but it was hardly the darkest or most terrofying of her techniques. The seal was yet another triumph or trophy in the girl’s repertoire as there was simply no record of anyone ever having been marked and successfully being able to remove it, and surviving without it. She was a living testament to the force of will and the drive she possessed, as well as the lengths she would go to reach her goals. The prodigy was still centered in helping her people and the Earth to triumph over Demons, but there was something that never changed, even after ridding herself of the seal: to her, the end still justified the means.
As she stood, the same geigenbogen would appear once more, this time suspended horizontally before her. Placing two of her modified green bladed seele over it, the girl would fire them off towards Hayden. It didn’t really matter whether he tried to outrun them or block them as they were never meant to hit him directly. Before they got within a ten meter radius of him the two would part ways in opposite directions and away from him, impaling themselves on the ground far away from each other, and them. More importantly, whether as a ruse or not, the basilisk Nagini would have used its slithering smog as it fired it off towards the vicinity of the vizard. The hazy dark purple smog certainly had its own unique effects, but with the field devoid of most things besides them, it would probably not show up until it was too late. The effects that would be obvious right away however were that the cloud of smog obscured not just sight but also hid the spiritual presence of the two skillfully well to all but those whose level of reishi manipulation or energy sensing were beyond hers. More importantly, the smog used the Melody as its carrier method since Nagini was allowed dominion over it as well, meaning it could travel at the very same speeds hers could. And beyond that, any real change or opposition in wind velocity would be met with a similar force of such a magnitude as to try to contradict a backlash. The tables were not outright turned, but the heat of the battle was still in its infancy.
