Ideitreng, the Dual-Edged Clan
Tue Oct 24, 2017 5:59 pm
The Ideitreng Clan have long been in service to the Soul King, and in their longevity they have rightfully earned their position as one of the noble families. In fact, many would argue that with their years of servitude and long lines of quality shinigami fostered, they should be held in higher status and regard than their current place.
The reason for their presently controlled status lies in the uncontrolled paths of their members.
The Ideitreng are known to have produced shinigami of consistent excellence, but many of those shinigami have given their patronage to other organisations aside from the Gotei and their affiliates, which in return prompt the key figures of Soul Society to keep the Ideitreng's status from elevating. For the sake of the main branch's continued loyalty and family as a whole's servitude towards the Gotei, they still remain a well-regarded asset nonetheless.
Naturally, conflict and struggles birth those that can respond and handle them at the necessary level. With the Gotei's recent shifts put into play and the several consecutive and devastating battles they were subject to, the Clan of Excellence has continuously lived up to their name,
especially with the latest generation of the Main Branch.
There's just one peculiar thing. Maybe the way the most recent generation was raised was different, ever so slightly, than the previous generations. Many attribute it to the new Clan Chief that presents a seemingly favourable degree of competence, albeit somewhat unconventional compared to previous generations.
Each member of the Main Branch's newest generation certainly prove themselves extremely competent and incredibly talented, many sharing their similar focuses and fields of practice, yet they seem exceedingly better at social relations than most Ideitrengs.
As seems to be a pattern found in the particularly excellent, many Ideitrengs usually have glaring idiosyncracies and quirks, not always bad per se, but certainly differentiating. This newest generation doesn't seem to follow the cut of the fabric.
The reason being, all their particular quirks are instead internalised,
furthermore far more serious and impacting than the rest of the family.
Anywhere from Bipolar Disorder to Cognitive Dissonance, all of them have damn near debilitating behavioral issues. Of course, the degree of control they have over these issues have proven more than adequate to appear nonexistent.
The Truth of the matter is instead that some are unaware of them,
others have recognised it and are in the process of now coping, and--typically the older side of this generation--some have even overcome them. But, these little, impactful inside issues they all try to manage,
often prove to be more unruly than they are truly aware of.

In truth, a large reason for the behavioral issues of the newest Main Branch members is very much in thanks to the new head. One unconventional method the head employed was to bring this new generation to the living realm, and grow in the exceedingly different environment while still retaining the practices of Soul Society. That change brought about two critical conflicts.
The first conflict was the difference of energy and environment, one which wasn't anywhere close to being as suitable for newborn plus souls straight from infancy, with no physical body to cope with the different environment that they were generally entirely intangible to, and the different of spiritual concentration. Over the centuries, the gap between the atmospheric reishi concentration in the living realm and soul society has progressively grown smaller, but it's not quite there yet, and that inherently proved itself a disadvantageous growth factor for the Ideitreng's new children.
The second conflict was the difference of time and similarly difference of perception of time due to the cultural difference. Thus, the new generation was attempting to keep up with the growth rates of an entirely different culture, particularly without realising it. This brought about the premature development of many skills and experiences, while the body and mind which was not made to be running at this speed, in some occasions, couldn't keep up and in turn faltered somewhere along the line, contributing to the issues these new clansmen face today.
THE MAIN BRANCH MEMBERS
Quien Ideitreng:
Cognitive Dissonance
18
The youngest of the bunch and also one of the most recently self-aware clansmen, Quien has a terrible case of conflicting thoughts, or more specifically, a conflict of her rational and emotional mind. Mild in some cases, at least mild enough to make her seem exceedingly normal if not particularly quick in conversation--much to other's dismay--and quick to move the conversation along, in more severe cases her constant anxiety gets the better of her, and with stressors as a trigger for that, the end result is a debilitating degree of depression and inaction. Emotionally vulnerable and rationally dependent, Quien has minor issues she can't help but transform into something more severe.
