非再生可能I. Basic Information
» Name: Kirinji Kawamonji (川門弐 犠林茨 Kawamonji Kirinji)
» Name Meaning: Thorned Forest of Sacrifice (Kirinji); Second River Gate (Kawamonji)
» Alias: The Man Who Only Needs One; "Bloodsucker Kawamonji"
» Age: Approximately 3,800
» Gender: Male
» Association: None. Was a former Captain in the Gotei 13
I. Personality
» Personality:
Kirinji is not a nice person. He's the type of guy to flat-out punch someone for looking at his girl funny. He doesn't like people, as they look at him and do nothing but whisper. If they come up and talk to him, it'd be questions of "so how did you kill that guy?" or something of that nature. He hates questions like that. He'll respond with "How about I demonstrate with you?" Of course he won't, but it's a temptation he won't deny.
The fact is, Kirinji is just tired of people trying to dig into his past. He defended himself, and Central 46 rejected that defense. He knows he was in the right. That doesn't matter though. The people know him as a cold-blooded murderer who killed thirteen of his comrades, including another Captain. He won't wash away that perception, no matter how hard he tries. So long as he knows the truth of the matter, that's all that counts.
Kirinji is an odd type of grumpy old man. He has the demeanor of someone who looks twice his age. He likes his personal space, but doesn't mind allowing the occasional person in. It's usually someone small and innocent. He's never struck someone who didn't attempt to strike him first. Kirinji won't protect anyone who can take a strike he sees. If they can avoid it, survive it, or counter it, why the hell would he step in? They can defend themselves. You might think that this means he'll protect women just on principle. You'd be wrong. "One of the most terrifyin' people I've met was a woman. I ain't gonna assume that a woman is weak just 'cause she doesn' happen to have dangly bits."
Kirinji may not be nice, but he does have an odd sense of politeness. He has basic manners and refuses to get shitfaced-drunk. He might yell at someone for being a "brainless ass-head who can't tell fern from a bear." He's also, very notably, not very good with analogies. He gets them mixed up ("I've got the reflexes of an eagle") and just makes up awful ones. Don't point the latter out though, he gets unnecessarily angry. The former, however... Kirinji just goes "I knew that." He never learns the right one though.I. History
» History: Everything has a history--a past. Their story is what makes them who they are. Kirinji is one of the unlucky few who have two histories. He has the truth and the lie. We'll start with the simple version: the lie.
Kirinji was born to a pair of parents with little-to-no care for him. They didn't want a son. They didn't want someone who would most likely become a laborer. Nah, that wasn't the life they wanted for themselves or their children. No, Kirinji's parents wanted a daughter. It was easier for a pretty young girl to snag a lonely, noble bachelor. That daughter would be their golden ticket to early retirement. But alas, no, they were burdened with a son.
Kirinji was reminded of his failures throughout his childhood. He was never strong enough. He was never smart enough. He was just never good enough for the people who gave him life. His parents were abusive once he was old enough to be seen as not a little kid anymore. Well, physically abusive. They were quite verbally abusive before. But now, their bark and bite matched one another.
Kirinji was commonly seen with bruises and bandages. He even grew accustomed to working with only one eye as one was swollen with bruises regularly. He never fought back though. He never spoke an ill word. His parents hit him more and more for potentially being an idiot. No, he just instinctively knew if he said anything, it would get worse. If he tried to defend himself, he'd just get hit harder. So he just waited. He swept. He carried heavy packages. he did all sorts of menial hard work. It was never anything complex, as his parents underestimated his intelligence.
Kirinji grew to be a strong young man. He wore baggy clothes, so his exact musculature was hidden from most. His parents grew old and bitchy. They couldn't do some things on their own. It was odd how fast they were aging compared to other spirits but no one ever commented on it. This was the first manifestation of Kirinji's innate abilities. Once he'd become a Shinigami, he'd regret ever having these abilities. They would be the start and end of his downfall.
Kirinji worked hard outside and inside. And his parents never admitted that they were well cared for. It was some time in autumn when it happened. Kirinji was helping both his father and mother tend to a small garden they tended to. It was large enough that one person couldn't do it. Two people could barely do it. Kirinji dropped a potted plant that was about to be planted after tripping on some sort of hoe left out by one of his parents. Kirinji's father snapped and tried to hit his son with trowel.
Kirinji broke his father's arm. It was a swift grab, but the pressure the young man exuded with his single hand shattered the old man's brittle bones. He tried to draw a knife to stab Kirinji, but Kirinji was too strong. The knife ended up in his father's throat. His mother began throwing tools at him. A pair of shears stuck in his shoulder. Kirinji didn't care. He grabbed a shovel and bashed her head flat with a single strike.
Kirinji left his family home after taking what he could. He fled law enforcement to District 70 of South Rukongai, Sokan (染樺; lit. Stained Birch). Sokan was regarded as backwater, even by the Zaraki District. Sokan was a swampy hell. There, Kirinji defended himself with violence and threats of it. He had no other way to survive, not in this place. So, Kirinji amassed a reputation while in Sokan. It was not a particularly good one. He was known as someone who killed his mother and father in cold blood. It was not true, but it was what he was known for.
Eventually, people became enthralled by Kirinji's overall presence. He had followers within months of entering Sokan. It was easy for him to get people to follow him with fear. Rarely did he earn respect though. His inhospitable attitude and occasional blind rage cost him that. It was a "follow him or be subject to a high chance of death." He didn't care. So long as he had his gang, he wouldn't have to crush skulls himself. One of the first people he killed as a gang leader was a young runaway Shinigami who actually cut his cheek. He killed him with a simple flick of his wrist. Unlike a certain future Captain, Kirinji didn't like to fight. He would kill to end one quickly. A good fight was one he didn't have to break a sweat over.
Kirinji kept the young Shinigami's sword as his had broken in that fight. It ended up being an odd trade. Kirinji eventually started hearin another voice. This voice would only speak to him when he killed someone. So, he would go on occasional rampages just to figure out who this was talking in his head. Many thought he was crazy. It wasn't far off from the truth. It was when a Hollow finally reared its head in Sokan, threatening to destroy Kirinji's territory that he learned its name.
"Come now, boy. You know my name. Say it or you'll die."
"...Wither, Nagei... Yanagi."
With a flourish of dead branches, the plain sword changed into a grotesque monster. It dug itself into the Hollow, pinning it to the ground. Unlike Ruri'irokujaku of Yumechika Ayasegawa, Nagei Yanagi was absorbing the actual life out of who it impaled. It wasn't feeding Kirinji either. Whereas Ruri'irokujaku would heal, Nagei Yanagi simply let it dissipate. The Hollow grew old rapidly, eventually withering to dust. Kirinji's new Zanpakutou sealed itself and he sheathed the blade.
"Impressive, young man. You attained Shikai while not being a proper Shinigami."
The gruff, commanding voice of someone with absolute authority and power rang from behind Kirinji. Kirinji drew his blade, but Genryuusai Yamamoto blocked it with only Ryuujin Jakka's scabbard. Yamamoto and Kirinji spoke briefly, mostly with the latter's blade swiping at the middle-aged mustached man. With the promise of more power, Kirinji agreed to join Genryuusai Yamamoto in the forming of his "vigilante squad," which would eventually be known as the Gotei 13.
Kirinji took his promise of power seriously. He trained long and hard, eventually attaining a Bankai. He was one of the first to have the proper name of "Bankai" and not "Shinuchi." Its name was Nagei Naka'aki no Meigetsu (嘆い中秋の名月; Lamenting Harvest Moon). Kirinji drew upon its power whenever he could. It was a despicable thing, capable of ruining countless lives if he could hold its release for very long. Thankfully, he could not. Yamamoto prohibited the use of his Bankai unless truly necessary. In order to attain the strength needed to avoid the use of Nagei Naka'aki no Meigetsu, Kirinji trained his Reiatsu.
Kirinji learned from early on that true strength came from control over one's Reiatsu. If one concentrated their Reiatsu enough in one area, it would create a shield that would not be struck down. That was Kirinji's theory anyway. He'd have to develop the process in order to test it. Over a few decades, Kirinji practiced controlling the force that surrounded him while ignoring his Bankai. After nearly 60 years of working with it, Kirinji finally finished what would be known as the "`Ichi' no Ikioi."
From this, Kirinji's name strayed away from the one given because of his Zanpakutou to "The Man Who Only Needs 'One.'" Such a title was befitting him, as he would only need one finger to kill most Shinigami who came after him. Because he could concentrate his Reiatsu so skillfully, he was also capable of hiding it frighteningly well. Because of that and his very special talents and abilities, Kirinji was given the first Captaincy of the Second Division.
Kirinji was not well-liked by his comrades. He was off-putting and had a demeanor that would better fit the 11th Division if it were not currently occupied by someone more terrifying than anyone else in the Gotei 13. All 13 of the Captains were criminals, but the two that truly stood out with the bodycount were Yachiru Unohana and Kirinji Kawamonji. They did not get along, and Kirinji avoided her so he could keep his head. It was not uncommon for Kirinji to butt heads with other Captains, but it was rarely anything substantial or worth remembering.
It was not long after his captaincy that he was put on an assignment with the Captain of the Third Division, Raikou Terafuyu. Raikou was well-liked, even if he was a bit of a drunk. Six men from the Third and Second each were deployed alongside the Captains. The mission was simple. A mass of Hollows were detected in the forests of East Rukongai. It was an arid, secluded place. Most of what happened is a mystery. What is known is that while fighting off the Hollows, a single Vasto Lorde appeared. In an effort to defeat it, Kirinji used his Bankai. Unfortunately, the effects of his Bankai ended up killing the other thirteen men sent alongside him. While he survived, no other Shinigami sent alongside him did. His treason would not go unpunished.
After Kirinji admitted to his crime, the governing body of Central 46 held him for a trial. As the records of a trial are sealed even to a Captain-Commander, what happened during the trial too is much to be speculated. From the rumors that escaped the sealed halls, Kirinji admitted that he killed his comrades, but claimed it was for the greater good. The sentencing of his crimes was simple. He would spend 2,000 years in the Second Layer of the Central Great Underground Prison, also known as Kokujō. In addition to that, his Zanpakutou spirit would be destroyed. And now, the truth.
Instead of re-telling the entire history, here I will point out the lies and then tell what actually happened.
- Kirinji dropped a potted plant that was about to be planted after tripping on some sort of hoe left out by one of his parents. Stained Birch).: Kirinji dropped the potted plant in regards to seeing a group of men attacking his mother and father. His mother was dead by a large man's fist, and he barely got to see his father alive for more than five more seconds before he was stabbed in the throat. He was taken by the members of the gang to have a whipping boy.
- One of the first people he killed as a gang leader was a young runaway Shinigami who actually cut his cheek. He killed him with a simple flick of his wrist.: Kirinji was presented the sword as a gift and a token so a man could join his gang.
- The gruff, commanding voice of someone with absolute authority and power rang from behind Kirinji. Kirinji drew his blade, but Genryuusai Yamamoto blocked it with only Ryuujin Jakka's scabbard. Yamamoto and Kirinji spoke briefly, mostly with the latter's blade swiping at the middle-aged mustached man. With the promise of more power, Kirinji agreed to join Genryuusai Yamamoto in the forming of his "vigilante squad," which would eventually be known as the Gotei 13.: The young Kirinji pleaded with Yamamoto for him to train Kirinji so he would have control over his deadly power.
- It was not long after his captaincy that he was put on an assignment with the Captain of the Third Division, Raikou Terafuyu. His treason would not go unpunished.: The truth was something far worse. Because of how afraid other Shinigami were of his Zanpakutou, Raikou decided to kill Kirinji. It was not just Raikou though. Namifuji Shihouin, Kirinji's Lieutenant, selected the Shinigami from the Second Division to participate in the assassination. There was no Vasto Lorde. Instead, Kirinji fought off the attempted assassination. It wasn't a fair fight, as Nagei Naka'aki no Meigetsu was able to hit all of them at once. It was unlucky for them.
- After Kirinji admitted to his crime, the governing body of Central 46 held him for a trial. In addition to that, his Zanpakutou spirit would be destroyed.: Kirinji plead innocence as he did it all in self-defense. His pleas were ignored and outright erased from public record.
And now, the present.
For the past 2,000 years, Kirinji has been in silence. He hasn't had any sort of voice to talk to him. Kokujō is not like Muken. Kokujō has light—three holes that constantly let in light. Kirinji spends hours beneath the pillars of white light and sleeps once he feels tired enough. That's how his life has been. When he's awake, he spends his time in Jizen. He's meditating, trying to regain what he lost. Of course, what's been lost in cannot be found. He won't find his Zanpakutou... But what he found instead was the emptiness. And that emptiness is what is driving him now.I. Racial Techniques/Abilities/Skills
Kyōki Yūhatsu: (狂気誘発; Blind Rage Induction) Mad Enhancement can almost be called sub-Hollowfication. It's delving into the dark emotions whose hands gasp every soul and drawing them to the surface. Rage, despair, desperation, terror, etc. are just some of those "dark emotions" brought forth. These are normally the types of emotions that will cause a soul--any soul--to become a Hollow with enough strength. Even a Shinigami can fall into depravity and become a Hollow if enough despair falls into their heart. As Kirinji is older than the process of Hollowfication to become a Vizard, it's hard to compare it to that. It borders on the line of Hollowfication, but due to Kirinji's mastery over his own Reiatsu he is able to prevent that final "fall."
Kyōki Yūhatsu reduces the following stats to the bottom of Beginner: Mental Deduction, Focus, Kidou, and Weapon Skill. He also loses the ability to release his Zanpakutou or use `Ichi' no Ikioi. Effectively, he cannot use anything that requires him to think and focus. The main exception of this is the type of action that becomes second nature. This is mainly referenced in Hohou. Most Shinigami have to think to stand on reiatsu platforms. As they grown in experience, that type of thing becomes second nature to them.
In return for taking away that amount of power, the power gained by Kyōki Yūhatsu is immense. Strength, Pain Endurance, Speed, Durability, and Determination are raised to the upper limits of Master--if they are not at that level already. Kyōki Yūhatsu will also reduce the cooldowns of any unreleased ability that does not require its name to be called to zero. This mostly refers to his Zanjutsu and Hakuda abilities.
Kyōki Yūhatsu also gives the user a special damage boost against certain things. These are classified as "things that impede the path to the target." Shields, barriers, constructs, even natural terrain all fall under this--hereby referred to as an "Impediment." Attacks or armor (even that of a Hierro) do not classify as one of those. So long as it does not prevent his blade or body from hitting the target, it will not classify as one. An Impediment will take triple damage from an attack done during Kyōki Yūhatsu.
Kyōki Yūhatsu lasts for five rounds, plus one for every sub-tier he is above 2-1. This means that, at maximum he would have 15 rounds of Kyōki Yūhatsu at tier 0-1. Kyōki Yūhatsu can only be deactivated if he is 1) killed, 2) knock unconscious, or 3) the timer runs out. Kirinji can only use Kyōki Yūhatsu once per thread.
`Ichi' no Ikioi: (「一」の勢い; Force of "One") This is what Kirinji calls his control over his reiatsu. Kirinji has such a tight control over his reiatsu that he can focus it on any part of his body to increase that one area's durability. When a Zanpakutou strikes a Shinigami, if there is no higher skill in Zanjutsu or weapon skill, then the one with the higher durability will win. Usually, this durability increases with the more Reiatsu a Shinigami has. Take the fight between Ichigo Kurosaki and Kenpachi Zaraki as an example. Initially, Ichigo could not cut Kenpachi due to a lack of resolve and reiatsu differences. That "armor" of higher reiatsu is usually spread across a Shinigami's entire body. It also is the basis for Hierro of an Arrancar. Kirinji is able to lessen the "armor" around his entire body to focus it into a circle of approximately 4 inches in diameter. This circle can be contracted to a small, nigh-impenetrable surface or it can change shape to be a triangle, a square, an oval, etc. In a show of force, he usually focuses it onto his middle finger to stop Zanpakutou. If someone has Adept or lower strength, the blow does nothing but stick there. However, with Advanced or higher, the force behind the blow will be felt. This can mean that while a sword strike may not cut him in half, it may send him through a building or three. The reason he calls it his "`Ichi' no Ikioi" is because of his usual motto when someone challenges him: "Fine. I'll only need one ___." The blank is replaced by finger, punch, swing, etc. depending on how good of a fighter he judges his opponent to be.
Shell Fist: As someone who has mastery over their own Reiatsu to near-perfection, Kirinji has learned how to use the two "vents" on his wrists to his advantage. As the wrists are where most Reiatsu is ambiently released from the body from, Kirinji has used their output to his advantage. By angling and funneling the output, Kirinji can cause a punch to do far more damage than it normally should. What this can be compared to is a rocket-powered punch from a super-robot anime. This punch is known as a Shell Fist, based on the concept of an explosive shell propelling something forward--much like a pile bunker or some forms of mining. A single Shell Fist is more than capable of breaking an Adjuchas's mask. In specifics, Shell Fist does damage as if the target's durability, Hierro, and other "armor" is treated as one rank lower. In order to keep himself from tiring out, he usually only uses one fist.
Buster: Buster is the next stage of Shell Fist. In the base form, the vent will shut off immediately after usage. Shell Fist Buster keeps the vent on. This lets him continue with a punch, and it can be used during a single Shell Fist. Shell Fist Buster can be used once per post. After using a Shell Fist Buster, he cannot use another Shell Fist for the remainder of that post.
Barrage: Barrage is the third stage of Shell Fist. Barrage acts much like a normal Shell Fist at first. Once the punch connects (or finishes), the vent reverses direction, forcing the fist away. Once the fist is back to around one-to-two feet away from the impact, the vent reverses direction again. This process repeats up to thirty times within seconds. This effectively makes Kirinji's arm into a powerful piston. Unfortunately, the arm is not meant for such a thing. Overuse of it (more than three times a thread) will break Kirinji's arm. He also cannot use a Shell Fist during the post he uses Barrage nor in the post after it. Barrage can be used every other round.
Broadside: Broadside is a modification to Barrage. Broadside requires both arms--so he cannot be holding anything in either hand unless it is a "fist weapon" such as brass knuckles or something of that sort. Broadside uses Barrage's technique on both arms, but what separates it from being a simple doubling of Barrage is that Broadside's punches alternate. While the right is extended, the left is retracted and vice versa. It has the same limitations as Barrage.
Zanpakutô: Kirinji's Zanpakutou is an oddity. The fact is, it shouldn't exist as a Zanpakutô anymore. Part of Kirinji's punishment for his crimes was the destruction of his Zanpakutou Spirit. He was thrown his Asauchi in as both an insult and a "way to avoid his lengthy sentence." Well, spending 2,000 years in Jizen ends up doing some strange things if your old Zanpakutou spirit is destroyed. He didn't manifest a new one, but something did. Effectively, his Zanpakutou now is more along the lines of a pseudo-Zanpakutou. By Kirinji focusing on the "absence" of something that "should" be there, the Asauchi was able to manipulate its own reiryoku and reishi structure in order to try to "fill" the void. The void it was trying to fill is one that can never be filled, so the emptiness and filling of it became what can be called his Shikai and Bankai. As he has no Zanpakutou Spirit, he cannot attain a Shikokai-like form. As this is one of the only (if not the only) known occurance of such an event happening, it could be possible for him to somehow re-attain a full Zanpakutou spirit.I. Sealed Powers

» Release Phrase: Break Off (中断する; Chūdan suru)
» Appearance: When Karashiki is released, the entire sword cracks apart. Once it breaks, a black liquid flows out and takes the form of a weapon that doesn't entirely resemble a lance or a mace. It is about 8 feet long, easily out-shining Kirinji's height. Across the head of the weapon are numerous small vents.
» Abilities: When Karashiki is released, Kirinji can channel his Shell Fist through the weapon, with the natural Reiatsu vents being replaced with the ones on the weapon itself.I. Rakkyo Karashiki (絡虚空式; Imaginary Restriction Empty Formula)
» Release Phrase: Mend (繕う; Tsukurou)
» Appearance: This time, both the weapon and his arms crack and break apart. A larger version of the lance from before breaks free from his weapon. From his arms, armor envelops them. He gains a pair of matching gauntlets, each rising to his elbow. These gauntlets have large segments near his wrist which allow for his reiatsu vents to channel approximately double the force they normally would. More importantly, they have a pair of large spikes protruding out in front of them. Also notable are four small cylinders that protrude from his arms—2 on each side. As he uses his Bankai's abilities, these cylinders disappear.
» Abilities: Besides being able to use his Shell Fist like he would in his Shikai, Rakkyo Karashiki does a bit more. These abilities are rather powerful, which is why can only use them once per release each. He cannot immediately go to his final ability either. He has to use the other three in order first. He can only use one ability from his Bankai per post. Each of these attacks do not not proc his arm's pile bunker until the final ability. They must all be done via his fist, except for the final ability. Each ability lasts for one post, and each one is meant to make the next one easier to hit. He cannot use one of the below abilities in the same post he releases to Bankai. Note: I am classifying this as Event-only on my own.
Suijaku Saisho no Dan: (衰弱最初の弾; Debilitating First Bullet) His first strike is strong, but it is arguably his weakest. It does not not afflict extra damage. Instead, it reduces the speed and durability of the target by one rank. If they reach below beginner in either, they are paralyzed. The way the ability works is scrambling the energy flow within someone's body, effectively causing it to spasm. This does not work on beings with no energy within their body.
Gekimetsu Daini no Dan: (撃滅第二の弾; Destructive Second Bullet) The second strike works similar to the first, but it attacks it in a different way. Instead of compromising the stability of the energy flow, the second strike disrupts the flow of energy. This will cause spiritual beings of 5-1++ and lower to immediately feel sick with vertigo. What this strike does is prevent the usage of Kidou, Cero, etc. Anything that requires a focus of energy will backfire without causing damage. This does not affect the ability to release into a different form.
Messatsu Daisan no Dan: (滅殺第三の弾; Annihilating Third Bullet) The third strike targets the spiritual connections. It momentarily breaks them while also putting into motions their repair. This is where he disrupts forms and releases. If a form or release requires energy (such as a Shikai or Bankai), then it is returned to its sealed form. However, this forced ending is special compared to others. It will allow for an immediate re-releases once the effect wears off. Any effects that were happening during the release before the strike hits will continue. It will be as if the release never was stopped if the wielder decides to re-release within 5 posts of it being shut off. It is closer to pressing "pause" rather than "stop."
Gyakusatsu Saigo no Dan: (虐殺最後の弾; Slaughtering Final Bullet) The final strike requires all four of the other strikes to have landed on the same target. If that condition has not been met, it reverts to the first strike's effect. This is a combination of the three previous strikes' effects. What happens when the spiritual stability, flow, and connections of a being are all disrupted? It's simple, that being ceases to exist as a spiritual being. The strike will lower the opponent's tier by 3 for a single post. During that post, they are unable to release or use anything requiring an energy flow. Their speed and durability are reduced by one rank. The effects are the same as the previous posts. If, however, the target is reduced to below 6-0, it is an instant death as their spiritual body simply does not have enough energy to maintain a physical form. Upon usage of this ability, Kirinji's Bankai is sealed, disallowing him to use his Zanpakutou for the remainder of the thread. His tier is also reduced by 4 sub-tiers. This will increase by one per round.I. Skill Sheet
