I. Personality
» Personality: Midori is a friendly and caring person, but a lot of this stays hidden. She's that mysterious beauty that catches the eyes of those around her. The moment she speaks to you, she gives off this warm and trustworthy demeanor. She's the type of person you can talk to for hours and she'll remember every word. She's the one who offers advice when you need it, makes time out of her day for her friends, and gives generously just because she can. However, people do not know very much about her on a personal level. She keeps most of that information to herself, very rarely opening up. Even when she is asked about her past, things she likes, or her opinions on different matters, she gives vague and impersonal answers. It's almost like she doesn't trust anyone.
Midori is a loyal person, but the idea of change can shake her. Midori has always been loyal to the Gotei 13; the Gotei United is not her home. Since that change, Midori has felt completely out of place. She has thought of leaving her Captain position and giving up on being an officer for this new organization. Midori has even thought on leaving the Gotei United completely, but is unsure of where she would go. Since quite a few of her friends have gone, it's hard for her to figure out where a home could be, but she can say with confidence that the Gotei United is not it. She's chosen to stay for a couple of reasons, but the main reason is that she's the most skilled healer in the Gotei. If she left without a suitable replacement, it'll be difficult for her Division to continue to thrive.
The situation with her home and friends has Midori lost. Lilith is worried about Genpaku, Kaminari has up and vanished, and Tsubine is in that same boat. Midori feels like she's been walking in darkness, trapped in a never ending void that has left her weak, angry, and almost a little disturbed. The fact is, the once happy, cheerful, big sister of the Gotei 13, has become depressed and sees very little point to her day to day life. She still tries to keep up a good facade, faking smiles and acting cheerful, but the forced happiness is draining and pathetic. Midori was never the type to lie or pretend. Now it feels like it's all she is doing. She wants to feel whole again by finding a home or having her friends return. Until then, this woman is just moving helplessly through her life.
Midori is normally a bit of a spitfire. She's excitable and her mood is often considered contagious. When she smiles, it often brightens up the moods of her friends. She's got a bit of a sarcastic trait as well. She has no problem tossing fun insults here and there, making jokes, or turning someone's words against them. In fact, she finds this quite fun and is one of the things she's known for. She's never done it maliciously, and it is often the way she ends up making friends. She makes friends with just about anyone too, no matter your race or upbringing. She's very open minded and good aligned in her morality. People just have to watch that mischievous look she gets sometimes.
Midori is one of those "popular" girls. She's the girl that the guys ask out a lot. She's beautiful, got a large chest, perfect hourglass figure, long well-kept hair, big bright green eyes, and one of those warm and sweet voices. She's easy to talk to, easy to look at, but hard to get to know. That mystery about her pulls different types of people in, mostly men who think they can get be that one to her. Midori, unfortunately, has a problem with men. She grew up in a time where people did look down on women, treated them like they were weak and unimportant for anything but taking care of children and homes. As she grew up, years passed, and she became more knowledgeable, Midori started to enjoy the times she knew she was better than a man. She's never rude, mean, or cocky about it, but she will not turn down a challenge or have anyone think less of her.
"Who lives if the healers die? No one."
I. History
» History: Her life as a human in the World of the Living may have been interesting, but Midori remembers very little about that time. She's noticed after a certain amount of years, those who came to the Soul Society do often let those memories fade. Over a thousand years later, those memories do not feel very important in the first place. The most she could tell someone is that she was a country girl, living on a farm in Japan. She rarely visited the city, so that kind of life escapes her. She had a little brother that she had originally hoped to reunite with in the Soul Society, but that hasn't happened. She also had fallen in love, gotten married, and died in an accident about two years later. She doesn't remember how the accident happened, but she knows she slipped off the side of a rocky hill and hit her head on a rock. No one found her quick enough to aid.
The early years of the living in the Soul Society were mostly like everyone else's. You're lost for a while, then you find a few friends, they turn into family, and you stick together to survive the best you can. You hear about the Gotei 13 and wish you could be like them. The stories people had of even the lower ranked Shinigami were impressive. Those within the Seireitei lived like kings in comparison to the peasants of the Rukongai. Every now and then a Shinigami would make their way into the Rukongai and it was like seeing a famous actor come to your town. Midori hadn't ever gotten to see one until she found her own power. A few people in the Rukongai created a group dedicated to gaining spiritual power and joining the Gotei. Since not many truly knew how to become a Shinigami besides by having power, they worked together to gain it.
Obviously, it didn't work for most. This little group wasn't something she originally wanted to be part of. She'd sit back and watch them train. She was lucky enough to witness one person blow a spell up in their own face. When they caught her chuckling, they got their egos hurt and challenged her into trying. She did, but nothing worked right away. Not liking being made fun of, she kept trying in secret until she gained the ability to throw a basic spell at them while they were practicing. It was just a ball of reiryoku, nothing special, and it didn't even harm them physically. It only made them take yet another blow to their egos, something Midori seemed to enjoy doing.
It wasn't hard for people to begin noticing an increase in ability in Midori since that time. She continued her practices, getting used to the flow of reiryoku, exerting it, forming it, and anything else she could do. Apparently, the showing of her spiritual ability caught the eyes of someone within the Seireitei. They came looking for her, figuring out who she was only by the fact that no one else in this area had any sort of spiritual ability. It wasn't hard to convince her to join up with the Academy. She'd give anything not to live her life in that boring, repetitive, run-down city. She was a farm-girl in the beginning of her life, but living in a shack wasn't something she enjoyed.
During her time at the Academy, about a thousand years ago, Midori had no problems passing any of her classes. She excelled in kido and anything else that required energy control. When it was discovered that her reiryoku had a more passive nature, they signed her up for a more advanced class to have her learning kaido. She excelled in that class as well. She was proficient in all of her other classes, making sure to concentrate her efforts into Hoho. She took the normal amount of time to graduate, making sure not to skip anything and took up extra activities merely out of boredom. Upon graduating, she joined the Fifth Division for her skill in Kido, which surprised her since her skill in kaido was notably better. When she asked about it, apparently someone wanted her to get more experience with actual combat and felt she wouldn't in the Fourth.
Combat was not her favorite thing in the whole world. In fact, Midori ended up avoiding most combat missions when she could. When she was forced to go on them, she stayed back and used kido to take out her enemy, often acting as back up. She spoke to her Captain of the time about transferring her and a few strings were pulled. Within a few years, Midori was moved from the Fifth to the Fourth, which is where she wanted to be in the first place. She was placed around eighth seat, which was fine for her. The duties of the fourth were more what she liked. It was around this time that Midori noticed a few extra eyes on her. She wasn't normally the conceited type, but after a few of her squad mates practically begged to go on a date with them, she gained one.
Midori said no to anyone that asked her out, whether man or woman. She hadn't found anyone that actually interested her, and she had a hard time being attracted to just about anyone. She wasn't picky, but romance wasn't where her mind was, so her heart never really wandered where she didn't want it to go. Midori was the type to concentrate on her work and put relationships last. As she went up in the ranks of the Gotei 13 and hit Fourth Seat in the Fourth Division, that changed. She ended up taking on an assistant teacher position at the Academy to help people who were having a hard time grasping kido and kaido. This took up a large portion of her time, but she thoroughly enjoyed it. It's where she met the woman Tsubine Koezuka.
Midori never thought a single meeting with a few basic questions would completely change her career and life. When Tsubine approached her, it was just a way of getting help with being an assistant at the Academy. Midori did what she can to help with the 'What ifs' and 'How do Is' that Tsubine had, which seemed to have worked because it started a calm friendship between the two. It wasn't until fifty years later when she got a note to meet someone in one of the Academy gardens. She did, only to find Tsubine talking with the guy who wanted to meet her. She approached without knowing their conversation. The guy was nervous, but he confessed his attraction to Midori. She immediately saw the disappointment, frustration, and jealousy from Tsubine and rejected the guy. He so eloquently said, "I've fallen for you, Midori." She chuckled and said, "Ha... you better get the fuck up. This one's prettier, so ask her."
Midori didn't know what else happened between the two of them, but she wished them the best. Tsubine later approached her and thanked her profusely for doing that. Midori's entire life changed with that moment. She gained a friend and as things went to utter hell in the Gotei, she rose in the ranks. With Yamamoto gone, Tsubine Koezuka was the one to take his place. With a bit of a request and a lot of Tsubine's help, Midori was soon promoted to the Captain of the Fourth without ever hitting Lieutenant. She had gained her shikai and bankai easily through the years, so she was obviously a capable woman. Her skill in healing was above anyone else's and so she was the obvious and easy choice once Captain Unohana ended up missing in action.
Within her most recent years, things have gone directions that she did not expect. She had met a woman named Lilith Antonovich and admired her. They became close, like sisters, though Lilith shockingly admitted that Midori was a little scary. Since they had only really known each other through a challenge in Lilith's life, it was odd that became close, but Midori was grateful for it. She also met a young woman who aspired to take Tsubine's place as Captain Commander. Her name was Kaminari. A couple of years ago, Kaminari just disappeared in the world of the living and hasn't been seen since. Tsubine is also gone, leaving Midori alone and without the only friends she ever felt close to. Since then, she's sort of clammed up, not wanting to get close to anyone since they all just leave. This was why it was so hard to get to know her in the first place. And with the change to the Gotei, things just got worse. Midori doesn't know where she belongs anymore.
I. Racial Techniques/Abilities/Skills
» Racial Abilities:
Overall Ability: Midori does not enjoy battle, but she is no slouch. She's a capable fighter that relies mostly on speed and agility to get the job done. Over the years she has been in the Gotei, Midori has trained herself to not be hit and to be able to take that hit if someone is able to land it, so she's is very difficult to damage. Midori very much runs off the idea that if the healer gets killed, what then? She cannot allow herself to be killed because that can guarantee the deaths of many. Because of this belief, she has trained herself to be very physically fit, tough, and well-rounded in actual skill. She prefers to fight at a range with Kidō, but can and will fight close range if forced.
Kidō: Though this is not her best skill, it is her second best. Midori's control over her reiryoku is masterful and because of that she can use every commonly known Kidō with ease and grace. She has not bothered with creating or altering Kidō because most of her skill there goes with Kaidō. Kido is merely a took she uses to keep herself alive for the sake of healing those who need it.
Kaidō: Midori is one of the most powerful healers that the Gotei 13 has seen. There has not been many who could match her in skill and control in the last 400 years. Midori's ability to heal and restore the body to it's regular form is off the charts and beyond impressive skill has kept her as one of the top doctors within the Seireitei for years. She can restore reiryoku and even convert other forms of energy into her own Reiryoku for the purpose of healing. She's a true master of energy control and has the ability to focus strongly on the most intricate of tasks. Midori has a plethora of techniques that she has personally developed for healing. Some spells concentrate on healing others, but many concentrate on healing herself. Why? Because who heals you if she's dead?
Midori does not recite any incantations for her custom kido or kaido.
- Tenkei: (天恵 [Heaven's Blessing]): This is a Kidō seal that Midori has placed on her back. Upon the removal of the seal, it instantly releases an amount of reiryoku into her body equal to her tier. It collects reiryoku over time and stores it away within the seal. Once released, it returns the energy to her, allowing her to continue healing people or even continuing a battle that has been going on for some time. This is used in case of emergencies and takes toll on Midori's body. If used, she must leave a small amount of reiryoku in the seal to avoid this effect. If she does not, her body will collapse under the pressure after her reiryoku has been used up or an hour after it's initial release.
- Kassei-ka sa semasu: (活性化させます [Rejuvenation]): This is a piece of Kaidō that allows the restoration of someone's reiryoku. It returns 75% of their reiryoku if they are resting and 40% of their reiryoku if they are still fighting when the spell is cast. This can be cast on someone at a distance and takes the form of a green flower on the back of their hand. Through the duration of this Kaidō on a person, any pain they're feeling is numbed by 75%, but it returns after the five rounds of posting. The reiryoku is also returned over this five post duration that the person's pain is numbed.
- Futatabi toritsukemasu: (再び取り付けます [Reattach]): This is a special Kaidō that forces a person's cells to sort of re-sew themselves together to reattach a limb. It takes a few minutes to complete depending on how long it's been since the detachment. Midori can reattach a limb that has been severed within the last 72 hours. The person will have a stitching-like scar around the area once healed, but the scar fades over time.
- Tamotsu: (保つ [Keep]): This Kaidō actually preserves someone in order to keep them from dying. It only lasts for an hour, unfortunately, so it doesn't allow enough time to discover some cure for anything. It's mainly to prevent people from bleeding out. It keeps their heart beating, their blood moving within their body, and keeps them in a coma-like state. It is also used on body parts in order to prevent a severed limb from dying.
- Kō doku: (抗毒 Anti-venom): This Kaidō removes all foreign biological invaders from the body. This is mostly used for poisons, but has proven to help fight things like the flu and colds. This spell is not instant since the stuff it fights moves through the blood stream, so the Kidō lingers. Moving much will cause this Kaidō to work slower than it's meant to, so someone who is under it's effects must lay in bed. Through the duration, the person glows in a faint light green color. The spell ceases when the foreign substance is removed.
- Hīru nagabikimasu: (ヒール長引きます [Lingering Heal]): This Kaidō is similar to rejuvenation because it lingers for five posts and the body's pain is numbed. Instead of restoring someone's reiryoku, it restores their body. It begins healing them by closing wounds through accelerating the body's healing processes exponentially. This can also be cast at a distance and takes the form of a white flower on the back of someone's hand. If effected by rejuvenation, the flower forms on the opposite hand. Though the subject is healed, this process takes 10% of their energy over the five posts, so it can tire them out.
- Baransu o torimodoshimasu: (バランスを取り戻します [Re-balance]): This Kaidō acts like a vitamin. It takes a while, but it is used to re-balance someone's body, allowing different nutrients to lower or raise to normalize their levels. High cholesterol, low blood sugar, or vitamin deficiencies are taken care of. It's a convenient spell.
- Itami nashi Suimin: (痛みなしスリープ [Sleep Without Pain]: This Kaidō puts someone to sleep similar to the way of a certain Kidō. However, it heavily numbs the body so that when Midori is performing a surgery, they won't feel it. It's her own version of a more efficient anesthesia. This spell lasts until she breaks it, or a max of 16 hours. Note that this is meant to be a "I put you under anesthesia for surgery." It will not be used in combat.
- Itami no keigen: (痛みの軽減 [Pain Reliever)]: This Kaidō numbs the body just enough to allow someone to function. It's used similar to the way normal people use Tylenol. After the pain is numbed though, it doesn't return for at least a week. This Kaidō lingers in the body that long, but only used for minor stuff like sore muscles or cuts.
Hohō: In a general or "overall" sense of combat, Midori is easily above average when only being compared to the basic level of a Captain. However, that is not because of her skill in Hohō. She can shunpo as well as any other Captain, but these other techniques are not something she dabbles in. She only moves quickly in order to keep up with her duties and get to where she needs to go before someone dies. Sometimes someones life depends on her speed.
Zanjutsu: Midori did what she needed to do to pass her classes at Shino Academy. She's not a combat person, so she concentrates her training away from fighting. However, she realized that she had to get better. After being told to work on her Zanpakutō by the former Head Captain, Midori worked on her swordsmanship. She knows how to use a sword very well now and one or two techniques within the Shinigami's sword art form, but not much more than that.
Hakuda: Midori has a problem throwing a punch, but not because of her skill. She doesn't like the idea of her body striking another person to do damage. Do not expect her to choose to fight in this manner, but she will if she must. If she is to fight, Midori would prefer not to be short range. It will normally be with Kidō. If forced short range, she'll release her Zanpakutō and attempt to use it to fight. However, if that doesn't work for her, Midori has a single Hakuda technique that she designed for this. It's really meant as a "back the fuck off" button.
- Senshi no tebukuro: (戦士の手袋 [Gloves Of The Warrior]): Midori wraps her fists and lower arm with Reiryoku to make them more durable. Most of her reiryoku is concentrated at the end of her fist. Upon impacting anything, she releases the reiryoku that is concentrated there. It bursts outward in order to create an explosion effect. The amount of pressure the explosion causes varies heavily based on who she is using it on and whether she wants to slow them down or turn them to ash. Normally, she wants to slow them down.
I. Sealed Powers
» Zanpakutô Name: Omoikane
» Zanpakutô Spirit Appearance:
» Inner World: Omoikane's inner world is dark and cool. It's an endless ocean of deep blues and calm waves. There's a full moon constantly shining down onto the water. The stars shine very clearly in the sky above, each star representing a memory in Omoikane and Midori's time together. What can be assumed is the center of this world is a rock that Omoikane sits on. While sitting here, she seems to be in a trance most of the time, speaking in airy tones. Her eyes rarely focus in. When she stands, however, it is the complete opposite. She's more serious and no longer in her normal meditation. In times like this, she's likely training Midori, criticizing her, or offering advice for more serious situations in Midori's life. Like Midori usually is, Omoikane is a calmer spirit.
» Zanpakutô Appearance:
» Sealed Zanpakutô Power: The main power of Omoikane is the ability to create areas that belong to her. Within those areas, she is able to restore, heal, and strengthen what's within while also returning energy to living creatures or even nature itself. Omoikane's sealed power is the same as this, but only works for Midori herself. It creates a light bluish-green sphere around her body that allows her to slowly heal over time. While this is happening, she cannot be attacked by any outside forces and she cannot attack. Nothing can penetrate the barrier from either side. This sphere lasts for a maximum of five posting rounds and can only be used once per thread. This ability is meant to give her a second chance to fight. This ability also cannot be used in tandem with her shikai.
I. Shikai
» Shikai Release Phrase: Revitalize, Omoikane.
» Shikai Appearance: There is no change in appearance.
» Shikai Abilities: As stated before, Oomoikane's power is to claim an area as her own and revitalize whatever living energy lies within. Because of its nature, Midori's shikai is something used very quickly or after the fact. It only has one ability as well. Midori uses the blade to designate an area by "drawing" with her reiryoku. She makes a shape along the ground, usually a circle. Once the two ends of the drawing connect, a shield is created. Every living energy within that designated area is healed over time. This healing is extremely powerful, bringing the target(s) back to their strongest forms. It can restore limbs, remove poisons, cure diseases, restore organs, clean blood, and anything else that is considered foreign or abnormal to the target(s) at hand will be put back to normal. This means that if someone is born blind, there is no healing their blindness. If someone is born without limb, there is no giving them a limb. If they're born that way, their cells, mind, and soul recognize their natural form in that manner and so Omoikane cannot alter it.
These barriers that are created from Midori's shikai are no different than the ones her sealed zanpakuto power create. They cannot be penetrated by anything, whether you're inside or out of them. This means that those within are trapped unless the ability runs out of time or Midori dispels it. Midori's shikai works in the amount of things it is working on. A single barrier can work on one person and Midori can make forty barriers at a time. Each barrier lasts up to three rounds of posts if Midori is not recharging it. For her to recharge it, she merely puts more energy into it by touching it with the blade of her zanpakuto. This act restarts the timer, giving yet another three rounds of posting. Midori can dispel a single barrier if she wishes. The healing process of Omoikane's power does not start immediately. Midori has to choose to start it. If she hasn't started it yet, the barrier is a dull bluish-green color. If a healing is in process, then it glows more vibrant with speckles of energy floating through out its interior. Timers still count if healing is not being done. Generally, in an actual combat thread, Midori can only put a barrier around a single person per post.
I. Bankai
» Bankai Appearance: No change in appearance.
» Bankai Abilities: Upon the activation of her bankai, Midori points her sword straight up in the air. The blade ignites in a bright green energy that swirls with blue particles and fires a beam into the air with the speed and force of a missile. Once it hits its peak, which varies from 400-600ft depending on how far Midori wants to let it go, it collects a ball of energy at the top. After a short moment, the energy being collected spreads rapidly over a designated area, maximum two miles. Midori then stabs her blade into the ground. The blade can penetrate the strongest steal when bankai is activated. The blade then acts as a battery for the barrier, keeping it going for as long as she allows it. If the blade is knocked off of its post, the barrier begins to recede. It can be put back into place, but if it recedes all the way, it's sealed for six rounds of posts before it can be recast.
Omoikane knows Midori's ally from enemy. Her zanpakuto can differentiate between these people by identifying their hostility and malice toward those around them. In other words, if you're "evil" or "dark," Midori's bankai won't heal you. This means that if someone has been lying to her, manipulating her, or pretending to be her friend, her bankai can figure this kind of stuff out.
The barrier of her bankai is not like the barrier of her shikai. This barrier does not prevent those from leaving or coming in. People can be attacked from the outside and those within can attack outwards. You can have a full on battle within Midori's bankai; her bankai just gives those that are truly her allies one hell of a leg up in the fight. For as long as Midori's sword stands, the healing that her zanpakuto gives continues. If it's knocked out of place, the healing immediately stops, but (as said before) it can be put back into place. Midori often sits back and protects it for this reason.
