» Personality: Akira is a very strange child, often called a problem child by his peers. Unlike the... Normal human responses to situations, he acts opposite. If he's happy, he frowns. If he's angry, he's calm. If he's surprised, he's bored. Bottom line, every normal human reaction is opposite for him physically.

In all honesty, despite being neglected and cast aside by his peers, he's a good kid. He loves trying to protect people and such, but it doesn't stop him from messing with people in scenes of calm. He's very nice to children, often times giving them candy he has hidden in his jacket and a pat on the head.

Though... He always smiles. To anyone who knows his story, they can come to the conclusion he's actually very depressed and is able to hide it very well due to his condition. The charade drops if people find out, though.

» History
Ever since Akira was born, it was like fate was against him. He was born smiling and laughing, which utterly horrified the doctors and his mother and father. They all knew it definitely wasn't normal, but tried to dismiss it as hearing the crying wrong. At first everything seemed alright, the baby was smiling and laughing but always reached for some reason. It was hard to tell when he needed food, because he'd start crying if he was fed, but he laughed when he hadn't eaten all day.

His mother and father continued to raise him until they decided he needed to be put in daycare due to their busy schedules and general annoyance with their child. Inside, Akira was really upset about how his parents treated him, but outside he was all smiling with seemingly no worries. He tried to assimilate with the other toddlers in the daycare, but because he was different, he was an outcast. A lot of the kids kept asking if he was broken or something, in which he tried to tell them that he couldn't help it.

Years went on and the teasing was starting to get unbearable. That's when his birthday came along, 7 years old, the incident happened. The first time they really felt like celebrating it, the party was pretty huge despite how few people came. They were mostly just cousins or other younger family members that hadn't seen him before, and didn't know about his.. Problem. When it was time for him to blow out his candles, he started feeling very tense, anxious even from all the undivided attention and screaming of young children. Then the cake exploded, with him having a large smile on his face, breaking out into laughter. Kids cried, adults glared at him, and soon the party area for him was cleared out. His parents had enough of his antics.

They brought him to a doctor a few days later, who was only scratching his head at their description of how he behaved. He said it might just be normal child prankster behavior, but his mother asserted that something was wrong with him, that it had been occurring since he came from the womb. This only lead to more and more appointments as the years went on. All the doctors were absolutely puzzled, this was a new kind of problem to them.

10 year old Akira started pulling pranks on people out of spite, but never did anything that went too far, that hurt people. He always showed restraint, but he was still labeled the problem child of his class. His issues were completely unidentifiable, so it wasn't like he was covered under any sort of rights or anything, people generally thought he was just a jerk.

He continued his "generally a bad guy" streak, but still was pretty nice to younger kids, giving them gifts and such, but when caught with them he was yelled at to get away and the kids to throw away any candy or gifts he gave them. He tried to be on good terms with the younger kids, but the stupid adults just got in the way. He grew silent animosity towards the parents, hidden behind a smile. He didn't have any friends aside from the occasional animal and such. He grew a dislike for cats considering he kept being told he looked like one, and he perceived it as an insult.

Rolling into adulthood, Akira was kicked out of his own home the moment he turned 18. Literally, he was told to pack up and move out when midnight struck on his birthday. He had a place planned; an abandoned hotel that no one got nearby. He could go and shower at a public place until he could operate the plumbing himself. He did manage to reroute some electricity from the building next to him to make the lower level of the building at least have flickering lights. He resided in the lobby and survived by getting a job at a local grocery store, air freshener to smell good despite the lack of showers, and pretty much had to figure out loopholes to a lot of things by himself. No college nearby would accept him, and he had no way to get to any farther colleges that would accept him.

» Skills:

Spiritual Awareness: Since Akira was born, he had been able to see spirits. He can't really do anything extreme, just view whats before him as if they were normal people.

Memory Retaining: Akira can notice the smallest of details in behavior and such, and retain memory of such things. Whatever is said, done, or breathed is easily retained by him, and he can easily bring it up at a later date if he wished to, remembering things in very complex detail.



» Powers:

Psychic abilities: Currently only possessing a limit of a broad range of abilities, Akira is able to tap into higher levels of human awareness and control of the world compared to others.

» Pure Abilities:

Animal Thought Translation: Akira can read the thoughts of animals with near ease. Doesn't mean he can control them or anything, they still have their own will. Their thoughts can just be read and decoded b him.

Emotion Sensing: For the more intelligent and complex beings, Akira cannot read their minds, he only is able to sense emotions. He can only feel the emotions of people within a 10 foot radius of him. If he wants to sense the emotions of a particular person, he has to have them in his line of sight but they must be within the radius at the same time. This is the only affect his mind reading ability has on creatures with an IQ over 100, the human average, so it's about it's own ability.

Telepathy: Akira is able to relay his thoughts to a target, but the target cannot relay their own thoughts back if they have intelligence equal to or above the average human. The target also cannot be able to hear his thoughts without being within the 10 foot radius. His voice sounds more distant and static the farther way they are.

Telekinesis: Akira can preform telekinesis, though he is very limited so far on what he can do. Anything heavier than a textbook is a struggle to lift, any heavier making extreme stress on his brain and causing bleeding in his nose and mouth which normally he would stop at, but if he strained himself further he could cause an aneurysm. He is able to crush objects less dense than traditional metal and smaller than a soccer ball without the bleeding starting. He is also able to make things burst, but its only if they're within his field of vision and he focuses on them (No exploding people here). It's normally caused by anxiety, so he doesn't have a good grasp on it yet. Baby steps are key to advancing this in other words.

Memory eradication/recovery:
Eradication - Akira is able to remove memories from his memory, though in the process it makes him forget he ever did so, so if he wants to recover it at a later date, he has to record some type of reminder for himself. For now he is only able to preform this on himself. Note that memories aren't destroyed, they are merely disconnected from the rest of them and unable to be consciously remembered. He can still have dreams about the event if it's significant enough, or remember if put through enough pressure and enough proof of the event is present.

Recovery - If he possesses a reminder, he can pinpoint and reconnect the memory in a few minutes of a subconscious state. He can only preform this on himself.

» Role Play Sample: Akira was soon sitting up in the dusty old chair in the rather drab old hotel. He groaned a bit, stretching and yawning. He cracked his back a bit, tasting a bad flavor in his mouth. A typical way to wake up; considering he was living in practically an insect party... No, more an insect condo. There was always something that smelled bad every day so he just got used to it.

Though today something smelled especially bad... Like something died... And he could smell it nearby. He walked around the room until he found the source of the horrid smell; dead rat in one of the entryway tacky plastic plants. How it got there, how it decided to keel over in a plastic plant, no idea. He just picked up the plant and chucked it in the garbage out back.

He gave his watch a check and he quietly cursed. He had to get ready. He ran back inside and got to the bathroom where all his toiletries were, the filthy sink that hadn't been running in years where he spat every day. He looked up at the mirror, and mentally cringed.

He was smiling.

He felt like shit, and he was smiling. He hated this smile. It was an everlasting reminder that he could never be normal. He then decided to just ignore it and get to getting ready, sighing softly. He began to giggle and laugh a bit as he left the building. It was not going to be a good day.
