Poliro's speed was still not up to par to catch Tsubasa off guard as his first strike was sidestepped - to be expected and then his second attack would be knocked downwards and Poliro decided in that moment to not destroy the ground around them so the Destructive Blaze ability had no effect because of Tsubasa's counter. Because then his sword was knocked down, Poliro was wide open to get slashed across the chest again grunting in pain, making it the 2nd cut he had received so far. Still minor damage relative to the abuse the reaper had sustained before.
Tsubasa would then create a blast of concussive kinetic energy to try and blast him back, Poliro would take it, being blasted backwards but he had a more creative idea to stop him from getting pushed too far back. Behind his back he created jets of fire that would, inside of the fire cause mini explosions to create kinetic energy to push Poliro forwards to resist the force of the kinetic blast meaning he would not be pushed very far away from Tsubasa. The jets would disappear after Poliro came to a stop.
As he returned to form himself, still in very good condition to fight he received a lecture on Tsubasa about how to fight. Poliro usually wouldn't take crap like this from someone but so far Tsubasa has very clearly shown he outclasses Poliro so perhaps it was worth listening to what he had to say. He still had his warriors pride however and didn't want to admit that to him as he remained silent but however the next thing he had in store would definitely shock him as he began making the full chant for Hadō 90, to which Poliro's reaction was a few simple words.
"Oh fucking hell seriously!?"
He was surprised enough that Tsubasa casually threw it at him earlier but now he was going to use its full power and Poliro knew the same tactic wouldn't work without more power. As it formed around him he thought very quickly about all of his potential options and before it impaled him he had settled on his course of action. From the outside, Tsubasa wouldn't able to see him but he would feel suddenly another spike of spritual energy that seemed very hollow-like. What was actually happening is that Poliro had decided to don his hollow mask which would give him another power boost without it being too flashy and the fire coating his Shikai would now turn a dark blue as he again created a shell of now blue fire around himself. His fire would increase in power and would stop Poliro from getting impaled by the spikes although he wasn't able to completely destroy the Black Coffin or the entire length of the spears.
As it dissipated, Poliro would be now visible to Tsubasa wearing his hollow mask and his eyes would have a red shine within them as he had no choice but to tap into his Hollows power to survive the full power Black Coffin - he didn't want to use Bankai just yet but definitely was feeling the pressure. He spoke once more with his voice now having that hollow ring to it because of the mask.
"Fucking hell mate, no chance I would have came out of that alright if I didn't have my mask to back me up. Been a very long time since I had to use this guys power indeed. You are definitely worthy of my respect."Declaring his respect for Tsubasa's power the battle would continue with Poliro's next move. The reaper would visibly use his ablity of Flame Creation to gather his fire around the cuts he had suffered during this fight from Tsubasa's sword and effectively close them by cauterizing the wounds. This was a trick the reaper learned during his months in isolation when he was absent enough to suffer some kind of cut or bruise. Because of his natural resistance to fire, this process would usually be quite painful to a regular human but Poliro would not a feel a thing, effectively healing his wounds as he prepared for another assault on Tsubasa.
He would use his Hoho ablities to flash step to Tsubasa's back and using the ability of his Zanpakuto, he would turn his sword into pure fire. Noting how Tsubasa knocked his sword to the ground, he would not be able to do that if the sword didn't even have a physical metal to it as he took another powerful swing with his blue flaming Zanpakuto and this time the attack would be even stronger as Poliro had donned his Hollow mask.
The swing would additionally send a powerful wave of fire in the direction of Tsubasa as he swung it and if he tried to sidestep once more, Poliro would manipulate the fire wave generated by the slash to aim straight at Tsubasa. The fire would easily melt the ground just from the swords presence at this rate and also if applied to flesh and bone, it would turn them both into ash.
However, this was not a simple swing at Tsubasa - he'd already tried that and failed. His gambit now is that with Poliro using his mask and Shikai, he would have to focus on his swings in order to not get too damaged so while he was attacking Tsubasa from behind, he counted on Tsubasa to turn and face him. While he was travelling with his Shunpo, the reaper would use his Flame Creation ability to create a sword of fire but embedded it in the ground out of Tsubasa's sight and once Tsubasa turned to face his attack, the sword would pierce through the ground like it was paper, melting it with ease and aiming to strike him directly with the blue, lethal flame.
The reaper was still searching for a weak point of Tsubasa. In his current state, Poliro hoped he could force him to give him his full attention so he could let his guard down to his surroundings. But still, given how the fight was going so far his hopes weren't so high but it had been the first time Poliro had to employ such creative tactics in attempt to fight someone stronger than him. The fight would be a positive experience for the Flame Reaper regardless of outcome, helping him grow into a greater fighter by being forced to think outside the box.
