Bulwark is the third in the line of Wareyasui Autonomous Units, as such her creator has had a lot of time to appropriately weed out a lot of the personality flaws that arose in his initial creation, Batteri. Batteri betrayed him, in his mind, because he was ignorant in addition to having the capacity to develop and grow a personality...with Bulwark Moroi had rather effectively squashed all those petty little “human” things. Bulwark was very much everything Moroi had wished Batteri was in this light and with that in mind, Bulwark does carry a sort of chip on her shoulder, much like a favored child would.

Like her “father,” Manic barely scratches the surface of the way the girl’s brain functions. The young woman’s brain is hyperactive in every sense of the word. Everything about the Synthetic Human is ten times faster than the average person which tends to make him appear rather jittery whilst talking. The girl’s emotionless words often seem to run together as if she seems to speak at the exact moment the words happen to pop up in her mind. Of course, that is not true, but comparatively to a normal person, she might as well be speaking her thoughts simultaneously. This occasionally makes her difficult to follow, especially given that she sounds rather deadpan in her delivery of those words, demonstrating a massive disconnect in her somewhat emotionless features and monotone voice and the depths of information that she processes beneath the surface. As such, outwardly, Bulwark seems to have very little in the way of personality and demonstrates considerably more of the “Synthetic” half of her existence than the “Human” half.

Being Synthetic however does come with a considerable amount of advantages. First and foremost, the sheer amount of memory her computer-esque brain possesses substantially surpasses almost every other life form in existence. As such, Bulwark has a ridiculous knowledge base to work with and it is one of her greatest assets. Not only is her brain advanced enough to effectively micro manage the ridiculous amounts of functions and weapons that Moroi has installed in her, Bulwark also has an encyclopedic knowledge of every race in existence, can identify every energy pattern she sees nearly instantly provided it is common knowledge or she has seen it before, and carries a “google-esque” knowledge of world history, political climates, and general dispositions of those around her. If information is power, Bulwark is a nuclear weapon. Because all of this information was progressively and selectively inserted in to her however, outside stimulus has not allowed her personality to veer off the predestined path that Moroi had laid out for her.

However, because Moroi is not perfect, his complete suppression of her personality was not exactly effective. The first and foremost reason was that he could not suppress the girl’s sense of pride. She rarely showed the emotion, but insults toward herself or Moroi will trigger a rather hostile response. The girl is incredibly proud of herself and by extension her creator and the purpose she has been given in life. As such, a rare glimpse of something resembling more of a personality and less of an automaton showcases itself whenever she is triggered in such a situation.

In addition, there are numerous scenarios in which Moroi did not think to prepare her for and as such her responses to these experiences have not been properly tempered to maintain her montonastic personality. It is through these different experiences that she is capable of steadily forming a personality and an identity beyond the automaton she so frequently portrays herself as. That doesn’t necessarily mean she wants to, but it is a very real possibility.
