“This city is absurd.”
Niflheim said slowly as she walked through the streets of madnise city. The one place in antarctica were not even two years ago shit totally hit the fan, everything had gone haywire in such a short period of time that even she didn’t know just how fucked up the place still was. Creatures of the dark still lurked in the shadows, the stench of dead bodies still remained even after the vandenreich had spent countless hours trying to clean it up, and yet? To her this place was her home, the place she lived and it didn’t matter to her much that it was a tad disturbed. After all, to many she was pretty disturbing herself, a being with the emotional capacity of a doll, Or what to many seemed to be the emotional capacity of a doll, since she kept a very tight reign on what emotions she chose to and what emotions she chose to not make visible to others. Yet since when had she given a shit what people thought about her disposition, it didn’t matter to her simply because she was here for a reason, and that reason was what she centered her life around, it was actually as simple as that.
Yet for now she stepped on a can, flattening it under her high-heeled boot with a clang. Her blue eyes drifting down to the filth and the beginnings of a frown had appeared on her face. Garbage was left everywhere when most of the vandenreich just vanished, and the old leader ended up fleeing. It was disgraceful really, and the very thought of that scaredy cat brought a white hot flame to that metaphorical rope that was her patience, and burnt it all up in mere seconds. Yet even as she silently fumed, not even the smallest fragment of that emotion had managed to seep onto her facial features other than that tiny frown that adorned her face currently, her foot shifting as she kicked the flattened can with a clattering sound into one of the alleyways that stunk of raw sewage, even with the frigid sub-zero temperatures having frozen all the bodies that hadn’t been cleaned up, and the garbage that was left to rot and putrefy over time.
“..Anyone there~ Of course not.” her words had a dryness to them, as she internally snickered at such a retarded rhetorical question being uttered from her lips. Of course no one was still here, this place was considered cursed by many. The only ones that she had found here in a long time were either the dead, or the remnants of the damned that ventured here in that huge battle that had been waged just a short while ago. Many had gone, some still naturally lingered, and the quincy had gone mad trying to exterminate them to restore the city to a hospitable place. To many the demons had become pests, but to Niflheim who was emotionally lacking in many situations, she often preferred and found herself subtly over the years finding the company of these demons to be much better than that of her criminally incompetent quincy Counterparts.
Even if it was her mission to one day bring the quincy’s back into the spotlight as a powerful and centralized nation under the vandenreich flag, to do their purpose of protecting the world once more from hollows instead of trying to conquer it. She still didn’t find that mission to be as compelling any more, the vandenreich was a sinking cause, each day it fell more and more into disrepair and crumbled. Their main base was in shambles, and other than her very few still lived within the ice-palace’s rather holey structure. Her room had been one of the few to be entirely unscathed, many other rooms had suffered destruction that was far greater, holes in the walls, fissures in the floors. It was a wonder that the place was still structurally sound at all.
Yet for now, Niflheim had decided to sit down on a park bench after she had put her arm over her head and popped her shoulder joint once, shifting to the other side and doing the same, finally then being able to kick back and relax. Her legs resting close together so her skirt wouldn’t be flipped up and her back perfectly straight due to the training that had been drilled into her from a young age by those who had been a part of the date clan. She was a warrior, albiet a rather reserved and unorthodox one.
So now? She would enjoy the serenity of a perfect frigid day. In Antarctica's most damned city.
