T H E - D E V O U R E R

Above the forsaken city of Saburo, a dark line carved away at the crimson sky above. The traditional problems that plagued the few civilians that remained in the undead place would soon be amplified. The cut in space remained in place for several minutes, building tensions taking place as to what was locked behind the slowly manifesting gateway. The rip began to open, a new dark power overshadowing the cracked energy that had been dominating the sky for a brief time. It was unlike anything most had known before it, not quite fitting of a Demon or a Hollow, but nefarious all the the same. Sparks of purple lightning crackled in the rift, the noise intensifying as something darted through the portal and aimed to pierce into the world of the living. A spear-like object cut through the gateway, heading for the town square and heart of the decaying city like a bullet. Streaks of lightning followed behind it and painted an arc of destruction in the sky.

Just as suddenly as it debuted, the portal diminished, fading to nothingness as its conduit of madness got closer to the ground. As it got closer, the details of the piece would become clear. It was a staff adorned in odd shomin-like designs of the north. The skull of a goat marked the middle of the construct with sharp spear-like protrusions coming from the twin ends of the Advocate. It hit the ground with great force, the spiked end cutting through the floor and the earth. It embedded itself in the ground, cutting a few inches deep and lodging itself in the Earth. A small wave of kinetic force split across the town square, but no major damage had been done. The staff remained there, the origin of its spawn unknown and the gateway returned to nothingness.

All seemed normal until the skull's eyes began to glow a menacing black. The space around the staff seemed to distort, until its power was wrought upon the landscape all at once. The ground around the staff was consumed by an ethereal blackness, A black hole manifested for dozens of feet around the weapon, forged directly around it with only the faintest bits of earth left in place that it was stuck inside. The second and vastly more destructive rift expanded rapidly, taking up as much space as a small house across the town's surface. While not growing any further after that point, it did not mean anyone was safe from the sudden creation.

The hole in the ground cast immense pulling force on the majority of the destroyed city around it. The more rebuilt segment of Saburo began to break, houses and structures of all sorts being broken apart and absorbed into the eternal darkness of the gravitational construct. It crushed everything to the smallest of particles, immediately killing any unfortunate living soul of inferior power that was consumed by it. The force pulled without any sign of end, threatening to consume large chunks of the entire city given enough time. The closer one got to it, the more immense this force became, seeming inescapable at point-blank range. The appearance of the entire town slowly distorted, the light that allowed it to be perceived being absorbed into the dimensional fissure as well!

While it pulled and absorbed as much as it could, the event did exude one element. A vile energy poured out from the staff, fueling the void and casting its corrupting flow of unease and despair to any that could feel it. The gravitational force existed on all sides, pulling in things from every direction without bias or remorse. It had no conscious, only the will of destruction. Though if one paid attention, it could be noted that the force was notably weaker along the middle of the veil. In such chaos, such a factor would likely be overlooked for some time though. The screams of the remaining inhabitants filled the air with dismay, the odds of rescue shortened even further by the other incarnation of evil taking its own unique effect near the foothold of the Vanguard itself, Karakura.

Devourer Of Saburo (Dawn of Madness Mini-Event series) Empty Re: Devourer Of Saburo (Dawn of Madness Mini-Event series)

His wings beat in rapid succession as he flew over the city known as saburo. He'd heard of some odd events occurring here and the most recent was the appearance of an object that began to swallow everything around it. He didn't know what to expect, but he felt obligated to figure out what was going down and stopping it. As he continued something caught his body and he was snatched from the sky and sent hurtling towards the ground. As he grew closer to the darkness that fell before him, the pull was stronger and he fell faster. It's like something was dragging him downward and he couldn't break the grip they had upon him.

As he fell he noticed the staff that was the culprit of this pull. He thought to himself that he was way in over his head as a fear began to well up in him. He had accepted the fact that he was about to die in a bloody heap of mass. Suddenly the grip that was placed upon him was released, but it was too late. His body was falling too fast for him to stop and he was too close to the ground to attempt to slow himself down to lessen the damage he was about to endure. His wings shattered as he slammed into the ground sounding off like a grenade as he fell a few meters from the staff. "Ow...." He whispered to himself as he sat up slowly.

"There's Someone else here." Came a voice into his head calmly as Sijel sat back onto his but. Acknowledging the comment sijel looked over to see a man standing on the other side of the side. He was holding the staff in what appeared to be a prison of flames. He had stopped the staff from killing sijel, but not on purpose. Sijel looked around at the destruction that took place around him from the staff. It had clearly been swallowing everything around it piece by piece. Sijel took a deep breath then looked back at the thing that stood in front of him resembling a man. "Thank you, though i'm sure you didn't mean it." Sijel spoke casually.

Devourer Of Saburo (Dawn of Madness Mini-Event series) Empty Re: Devourer Of Saburo (Dawn of Madness Mini-Event series)

Sijel stared at the man in confusion as he asked him to leave. "If you aren't strong enough by yourself to stop it, then wouldn't it be better to get help?" He asked as he got up and brushed himself off. He cracked his back by twisting left and right and began to pop the joints in his wrists. He took a deep breath as he looked at the buildings once more, this time without so much panic. It was like a dystopia with the staff at its epicenter. Sijel looked back at the man and smiled. "I mean that's normally how it goes, and whether you think it's a good idea or not, I'd like to help in some way." He continued.

A blinding white light appeared as the man continued to speak and mention that destroying the staff would be the only option, which was pretty obvious. For a moment Sijel covered his eyes from the searing brightness of the power he was using. His skin tingled for a moment and before he could register if the tingle was good or bad he grew a skull shattering headache. "What in the hell is this guy doing?!" Screamed the voice in sijel's head as it twisted rapidly between voices. He gripped his head extremely tight and fell to his knees as he tried to hold onto the small shred of sanity he had left as he dealt with the pain.

The light suddenly dimmed as well as Sijel's headache, but his skin still tingled slightly as he stood near the staff. The man had ran off somewhere, but sijel didn't follow. He figured it'd be wise for him to not leave the staff alone, for if anyone were to take it it'd probably lead to more problems than that of what he's already been through. But why did this man want the staff? Sijel sat their and pondered this question as he looked into the direction that the man ran. He looked back at the staff and thought about taking it, but how would he control such a thing, that practically crushed him from several feet in the sky. "In any case...I should ask why he wants this staff, because he clearly said it'd be best to destroy it, but it clearly isn't destroyed." Sijel commented as he put his hands across his chest and waited for the man to return.

Sijel looked at the man casually as he gave him his name. Sijel smiled but looked at the remains of the staff that laid in pieces before him. "don't you think it was a little too easy for you to just break it?" Sijel asked prior to looking out throughout the town. "My name is Sijel Evela." He chimed as he began to analyze the being. He seemed like a genuinely nice guy though his appearance would deem otherwise. Sijel began to do as the other guy while smiling gesturing that his actions were okay. He began to help some of the injured yet still mobile civilians nearby. His mind though couldn't stop thinking about the staff. The fact that it was broken came way to easily for something of that amount of force and power to just swallow objects like they were nothing.

He stared particularly at the skull that rested atop the staff before it was severed.

Devourer Of Saburo (Dawn of Madness Mini-Event series) Empty Re: Devourer Of Saburo (Dawn of Madness Mini-Event series)

Sijel was greeted shortly after making the comment by another creature that was clearly there to kill. Kade had ran in front to fight the creature claiming to know it. The creature lifted him up as he pulled out two pistols and began to fire at it's chest. Sijel watched until kade had told him to save the people around him. He gestured widely for the people to run in the opposite directions and without hesitation they did so. He helped the last few that were stuck under rubble and other objects an they quickly followed the crowd. As they all ran Sijel turned to face the demon. It was still holding Kade by his leg, but it did nothing else and it seemed to be starting to have trouble with even the action he was performing. Sijel took a deep breath then pulled out his paper cutter like sword.

Energy began to funnel through it and the air began to grow cold. He raised the sword above his head and began focus his energy onto the creature. "Freeze his soul, Zelhir!" He called as he swung his weapon sending four butterflies surging outward towards the creature aiming to strike his nerves and freeze it's arm.
