Karakura's A Big Place

The woman walked through the forest, her footsteps of snapping twigs and brushing bushes letting any non-sentient observer know that she was there. It wasn't necessarily the smartest of ideas, but Jessica Delacroix was confident enough in herself where a fight wouldn't be the biggest of issues. Should her "opponent" prove to be stronger than she is, she could simply flee, free to declare revenge another day.
She paused for a moment, taking in the surroundings, breathing of the scent of the woods, with a hand on a nearby tree for support. The bark was rough to her touch, something she had been accustomed to for many years beforehand, and the smell that came to her nostrils was sweet; crushed pine needles and cones underfoot, thanks to a near constant animal passing through the area. There were the calls of birds off in the distance, something that had been a perpetual companion throughout her years of isolation.
She moves forward again, ducking under the tree branch as she passes. "A good look of your surroundings can never harm you," was something her first instructor has told Jessica. And throughout the years, it had been true enough. There were often times where her own natural talent had failed her, and she had to rely on other means to succeed. There was one occasion during a solo session with Hollow Bait, where she attracted a group of Hollows that swiftly overpowered her.
She ended up defeating them, of course. Heroes always win in the movies, right? There's never tragedy in training montages. But she came through with another scar, another lesson to learn. The problem was that she engaged them too quickly, didn't take proper stock of their abilities. She was reckless during that fight, relying heavily on speed and Heirenkyaku to carry her through the brawl.
It wasn't enough to stop the lead Hollow from coming up from behind, grabbing tight hold, and tossing her to the dirt as though she was nothing more than a piece of trash. The way she won was by hiding behind rocks large enough to conceal her, then popping out and kiting her enemies away. Jessica's back was sore for weeks after.
She comes back to reality, though, blinking her eyes and looking around once more. There was a nearby squirrel, disinterested in her, focusing intently on a nut; a fox near his home, stalking for food. The world was alive. So alive, and many people trapped away in other affairs don't realize it.
She moves forward again, coming through a clearing. A parting in the trees reveals a large city directly ahead, and a smile comes to Jessica's face. She finally reached her destination: Karakura Town.

As Jessica, was preparing to enter the clearing from behind here, further into the woods that laid behind her, a presence that had laid dormant, hidden within, was now being known to the area, animals in the vicinity moved along sensing as if destruction in it's wake. While one could not sense the strength of such being, but the signature on it could be read very loud and clear. This was yet another odd thing however, as on the evident side, one could easily tell of the presence of a hollow, but it felt like a mixture, something that gave off mixed signals, even as they were trying to be overshadowed by another trait. The signs of a quincy could be read off of the being that was actually approaching at high speeds towards Jessica's position, that wasn't however the only thing that she might of had to worry about. As multiple unknown presences, sprung into action, moving towards her position as well, these ones however were much more evident in signature and strength, they were all weaker than her, however had they of gotten the jump on her, they could be a problem.
They all possessed that of a demonic signature, meaning that they could all be read off as evil in nature, unless they were very rare exceptions. One by one, it would appear as if they would be snuffed out of existence by the mixture of hollow and quincy presence. Until there was nothing left, then it would continue to make it's approach, growing slower and slower with time, until it could be moving at probably a walking paced. Then the being would come into sight, it would appear like a highschooler that was most likely a senior if not the first years of college. His black hair kept him harder to notice under the tree but his eyes shined out making him very easy to spot that way until he was in full view, one could note the fact that he was wearing what appeared like a type of school uniform, but across it appeared like a number of symbols that didn't match up. Upon his shoulder, if it could be recognized was the symbol of the Kokuryuteshi Realm, however over his heart and all across his back, was the symbol of the protectors of Karakura Central, the Yayjuu.
If he could take notice of Jessica, he would proceed, to approach her and wave to her, his signature would proceed to shift once more, the signals of a quincy made more apparent than the hollow ones until it faded away completely, suppressed probably, making many compelling questions and mysteries come with this young man.
"Hello there, are you are on your way to Central as well?" He would ask giving off a innocent vibe with the question. But a trained eye, could note that the subtle signs that he gives off, suggest that he is not so much as innocent as kind....

As the woman emerges from the forest, she freezes in her tracks. Something was coming, that herald of death and destruction... A Hollow, and something... else. Is that... Quincy? She takes a breath, in, out, turning and facing the direction she came from. Suddenly, she senses eight more, weaker, signatures. But these did not feel like Hollow...? The eight were demonic in nature.
Jessica was not looking for a fight today. But she would if she had to, as the simplistic procedure of summoning her spiritual weapons would show. The young Quincy takes a battle stance, leading with Crime, staring in the direction of the approaching signals. She had never encountered something like this before, and her nervous demeanor showed it.
But relief came in the form of the eight demonic signatures, fading one by one. She wonders what could be causing such an effect, briefly, until the Hollow reiatsu faded as well, seemingly fading completely into the still-approaching Quincy.
She lowers her weapons slightly, waiting until she noticed a black-haired boy appear out from behind the underbrush. She watches as he still moves forward, then stops, calling out a greeting and asking if she was heading to Central as well.
She takes a moment, heart still beating quickly, to calm herself down. Jessica takes a deep breath, glancing up to the sky, and lowering Crime, which still remained with her, like an ever-present companion, remaining outside of sight.
"Uh... Yes, I am, I suppose," Jessica says, in a nervous tone. She takes a step backwards, untrusting of the sudden being who approached her so quickly. She clears her throat, and in a level voice, she continues, "I've been travelling for a while."
But still, questions raise unbidden to her mind. What was that spiritual pressure she felt? And those demonic signatures, as well? She looks to her side, then back to the boy.
"Be careful, though. I felt something dangerous about, and the forest did too. Did you notice how all the animals disappeared? Right there, you stepped over a fox hole. Instead of running back to his den, he dashed somewhere deeper into the forest. And it was heading this way."
She waits, staring at the boy, examining him up and down, taking note of everything that was apparent. His black hair, the school uniform he dons, as well as the odd menagerie of symbols he dons along the shoulder. After trying for a moment to decipher the badges, she gives up with a sigh, then waits for an answer to her questions.

Beast of Sound
Cero was happy to know that he could at the very least have someone that he could talk to on the way back to Karakura Central. He had come out this way, to seek out troubles, that can plague even the outskirts of such a grand and vast city. The Hohl Arquero, would have to say though that they weren't very smart problems, as he was able to track and eliminate them, without the need of their presence reaching out to him. If it wasn't for another person that he could notice, he would have by now, quick hopped back, to occupy his young life, with something or another. There were many things that pulled and tugged at Cero, he was only a matter of time til they either became too much for him, or they all tugged at him at once, forcing him to have to make a choice. He was going to have to go back to that, at some point, but it didn't hurt for him to find his own pace in dealing with them and other things that he might come across.
What surprised the young Cero, was how the person told him to be careful based on how nature has reacted to his and the demons presence. Based on this, he was starting to guess that was a true new visitor to the Karakura area, meaning that they probably would have no to very little clue about him, and from there, it was obvious they had no knowledge of the organizations that tried to protect/change/rule the realm of the living. Cero would give a small laugh as he would go on to talk with the quincy that right before him. "You aren't really one that has been round here much have you." He would state as he continued his approach to Jessica, extending his hand to her in the end. "I'm Cero Telca, The Yayjuu's Beast of Sound, Defender of Karakura." He would finish with as they would be introducing themselves each respectively. From there, he was guessing that likely two things would occur, they first thing that came to mind, might be their journey to Karakura Central. The other was at least one question, something that will likely come from one, that had so little knowledge of the society that made up, Karakura Central.
He could tell which of the two things would happen to becoming first, or perhaps, it actually would be both at once, or even neither at all, but that would be a weird result in Cero's mind. Any which way, Cero would try to enjoy the time as it passed by him, he was still very young, by any races standards, the Hohl Arquero had a lot out there that he also didn't understand. At times, he didn't come to consider that his presence and actions, had a heavy impact on the living things that were just part of nature, so easily. Hopes were on the chances, that they both came out of this learning quite a few things, that the other didn't.

"You aren't really one that has been round here much, have you?"
Well, that was relatively true. Relatively, not relatively. It wasn't exactly false that she was new to the area, but it wasn't...
Yeah, he pretty much nailed it.
"No. I'm a newcomer, hailing from wherever I got this [Sanrei] Glove," Jessica says, raising her right hand to show it off. The glove itself was rather simple, the way she had gotten was the same. Although interestingly enough, it had been white and black, like a formal dress glove, but when she went through the ritual to prove herself worthy of using it, the thing decided to morph into its current appearance.
That being of a fingerless black glove with no other real adornments. While it looked weathered, it did it in that way leather did without any special materials, made specifically for caring for it, but with a certain level of care to it. It was true that it made reiatsu much hard to focus, but that's kind of the point of the Sanrei Glove, isn't it? She had been wanting to take it off, but the second Quincy teacher warned her never to do so.
She learned through countless trial and error to trust the man when he said things like that. The tone he took still sends shivers down her spine, simply thinking about it. Her whole body is electrified, senses roaring, waiting for something to come and demand use of them.
But there wasn't really anything of that sort, besides the strange spiritual energy that the man who introduced himself as Cero kept putting off. It was Quincy, but it still had that odd feeling of it, like when you're standing alone in a dark room and feel the hair on the back of your neck start to rise.
Although he'd shown nothing but respect and kindness, Jessica still felt something through him. And she got this feeling of apprehension, as though it'd be child's play for him to reach over and snap her neck, like one would break a twig. But she did what any good grifter did; she hid it. At least, as best she could.
It's not easy hiding fear, most of the time. It remains underneath, bubbling just through the surface, and one misstep causes it to come all rushing out. So she deflected it, moving to another line of conversation after clearing her throat, "The Yayjuu? Is that an organization, or something?"

Cero was glad to know that he was right in assuming that the person before him was not from the area at all in terms of society, at least, he assumed such. The sight of a Sanrei, however, sent a shock throughout his system, bringing up his own memories, the memories of his teacher, Key, and the memories of the first leader of the quincy. All of those memories, were the things that had hold on the object that he took note of, and each of them mentioned the things that they knew about it's capabilities. In some cases, it also shared their experiences of it, lucky for him, he never took it upon himself to use one, but he did come to understand at a very young age, what it meant to use. Jessica should be able to pick up on the shock of seeing in, it would also lower his smile a little bit, he wouldn't frown, but he could bring himself to be happy about it.
It did kind of make him happier to have come across a quincy, but they have gone through so many hardships over the past year. Based on the fact that she didn't recognize the symbol of the Yayjuu, Kokuryuteshi, or Cero himself, she was not a quincy allied to an organization of any kind, meaning that she was likely living the kind of life that he wanted the race to proceed with, they could all walk their own path without having to cross with one another. Cero understood that this meant that some conflicts could result in quincy vs. quincy, but he would rather something come to that than all of them be mowed down, seen as a major threat on all sides. The Hohl Arquero, had many problems in his life already, one of them being representing the quincy as a race until someone else was stepping forward and taking action. He prayed that they would jut walk his path though, finding how they want to live their lives individual among human society. Back to the matter at hand, quite literally, Cero was wondering a few things about this quincy and the glove that wielded, same for the questions that she would likely have for him.
"The Yayjuu is an organization meant for protection regarding Karakura, The Living Relam, and Ziamachis." He would start off with telling Jessica before continuing with an explanation. "I was once a quincy ziamachi, one that held an Arrancar soul fragment within me, corrupting me. However, things have changed for me, I go under a completely different name. I'm a Hohl Arquero,.... Neither Hollow, Arrancar, or Quincy. If you can understand, I am by all means a monster to nature... I must live with that though." Cero would explain his eyes looking down on the last line, knowing that she could likely understand an analogy to nature for what he has become, his hollow presence was no longer hidden, as it could be sensed along side, his quincy signature. He still kept his level of strength in check, not wanting her to be aware of that yet.
It was not something that he liked to talk about but it would have to be explained, along with his next few things. "Do you know what that glove is capable of? It isn't something taken very lightly." He would ask her, raising his eyes once more, show slight concern as he looked upon the glove once more. If she answer with out knowing fully about the glove, he would go on to explain. "If you ever remove that glove from your hand, it will completely break off, with it, your power will magnify significantly..." Then he paused his expression becoming grave."Then you will lose all of your power, after a short time....." He finished, he would leave her with that before his motion moved, pointing her to the city. "We should get moving, even danger can lurk this close." He stated, hoping that she was taking everything alright, and he was able to process her questions along the way.

Re: Karakura's A Big Place
Mon Oct 12, 2015 10:55 pm
The steady gait of the woman walking along the Hohl Aquero, Cero, was rarely interrupted. She kept moving onward, in spite of many things. She happened to recall one particular night in her younger years, before she had moved to the wilderness, in a bad part of town... There were men and women of all variety out that night; drug dealers and junkies, prostitutes and pimps, and men looking to get lucky. Many eyes were on her that night, the eyes of the deprived, the low, desperate, hard working people fallen on hard times.
Jessica didn't stop for them. She didn't stop for anybody, but what Cero happened to say and do made her foot pause mid-fall. Out of the corner of her eye, time seemed to slow down. One could detect the faintest smell of electricity in the air around the two, and you could swear that the atmosphere suddenly got very clear. One would note sinuses clearing quickly, and might feel goosebumps on their arms and necks start to rise. Jessica turned her head slightly toward Cero, taking a step backwards and in one smooth motion, she drew Punishment and leveled it with his head.
That was when the Hollow presence finally revealed itself. There was nothing but the tiniest scrap of a shred about, and she hadn't the faintest idea that Cero himself was the one giving it off. It seemed muted, far away and off in the distance, not as close as it was. She could tell that it wasn't a separated entity, even the most rudimentary examination of his spiritual pressure could tell that. The reiatsu being outputted by Cero stank of Hollow now, like something out of her training sessions, and she cursed herself silently for not noticing before. Every essence of Jessica was silently pleading for her to pull her weapon's trigger, but she hadn't yet; because of the other signature she was detecting. Quincy.
The revolver itself was made of a shiny and bright material. Its ivory handle was sharpened to a point, a fine backup weapon in case any foe closed the gap close enough to assault her. There were etchings along the barrel, promising a swift retribution, underneath the carving of angel wings. The muzzle stared at Cero, its words whispering on the wind, and it wished nothing more than to fire and end this 'Hohl Aquero,' as he claimed to be.
Jessica studied the Cero's reiatsu's more intently. She wondered why it felt so odd; there were two distinct sides of it. The Quincy, and the Hollow. They were separate, yet the same. She felt them both being tangible, and she could prod each one individually. It felt so wrong to experience, and it was the first time she had come across something like this.
But the way he acted gave her pause. He seemed almost ... repentant. Jessica's brow furrowed, and she called out in a deathly silent voice. "What is a Ziamachi?" she says, her tone still as the water on a windless day. She knew of an arrancar, the Hollow who tore off their own mask and became something... more. That they regained their sentience after losing it by becoming a Hollow in the first place. Anything more than that, though, and you'd have to find somebody else to tell you.
So there they stood. She was about six steps away from the man, holding Punishment up, with her off-hand hovering over Crime, waiting patiently to be told what to do. A bead of sweat rolled slowly down the side of her face, as she stared at the man in a peculiar way. Not quite an expression of hate, nor one of pity; while one could see a display of both of these emotions in her eyes, no, the true expression in her eyes was interest. The rest of her face was still and silent, as she waited for an answer from the mysterious boy.

Cero Telca
Beast of Sound
Beast of Sound
In all honesty, Cero wasn't very surprised by the fact of the situation that he was currently being faced with. Within, he felt slightly hurt about the turn of events that were taking place, but once again, they were as expected as, he called himself a monster. The Hohl Arquero was at least glad that the fellow quincy, was only pointing the gun at him and not, actually taking shots at him from the get go, he felt that he could of handled it, but it would of hurt himself even further inside. From this point, he was, wondering what the quincy that was before him was planning on proceeding, he didn't make any signs of particularly resisting the situation. Her signs, didn't seem to be showing a particular emotion, he could tell if she was experiencing multiple emotions, and which of them was currently the dominant one, he would have to just proceed with whatever she was happening to plan on doing.
Eventually, she would go on to asking him a very small, yet a very complex question, regarding one the things that he said, while he was trying to explain things to her. Cero did not have a problem in elaborating on the things that he spoke of the "Ziamachi". "The Ziamachi, are made up of two things, a spirit and a host." His voice being very clear and crisp for a start. "In my case, I was a Quincy, the host, that had been forced to take upon a portion of an Arrancar's being, the spirit, within myself. That is what made me a Quincy Ziamachi. Something further along created me." Cero continued with, he would look off into the distance, not really paying much attention to the gun, showing that he had no real worry or focus on his life, whether this was ignorance, or actually real, would be something that would be very hard to determine at this point. What he looked towards, was the city that would be known as Karakura Central, the place that he has considered his home for so many years.
"On January 1st, 2414, Zero died and Cero Telca was born after fighting the Demon Queen. Based on research reports, Zero's soul was on the brink of complete death, within him was still a portion of that Arrancar's soul, it was active, it's objective was to survive by any means. So in a final effort, the soul tried to mend Zero's soul with it's own, the result shattered the two souls, but brought them closer than ever, like two incomplete puzzles, the pieces came together to try and make at least one complete set again. That was how I came to be." He went on with trying to explain as best as he can, what had exactly how he reached this point.
"I can see how, you might find it hard to believe, but I still choose to protect this city, and the people that are close to me. I'm neither of the things that created me, but I wish to at least be accepted, the Quincy have questioned my existence time and again, personally, the arrancar population hates me, but the hollow beasts, they are calm in my presence. None the less, I still find my home currently among the Yayjuu, and technically I'm still a ziamachi, but there are others like me, that show these traits like me through out history. I'm about the third Hohl Arquero that the Yayjuu have recorded, the others weren't as sane, or humane as me." He would finish with on his explanation.
"I can understand, why that gun is pointed at me, you don't trust me, but do understand that if my intentions were ever to hurt you, I would not be talking to you now, I would of been among those beasts back there." He finished with, making his eyes connect with hers, one could see the troubles and burdens that Cero holds within his mind through his eyes, one could see that this isn't his first time through this kind of rodeo.
"I don't even believe I got to hear, who you are at this point?" He would point out, giving her a little bit of time to answer.
"My greatest question, is are you really a good person? Trust me when I say, not all quincy are indeed saints. So even as a quincy soul flows inside of me and you, darkness can flow even within the hearts of the pure. Do you understand me in this!?" He would ask his voice raising in the end, tears forming in his eyes, his spiritual presence shooting upward, most likely capable of giving Jessica a shock and a reality check on just how powerful, Cero could possible be. The boy wasn't bothered by the presence of the gun, but he wasn't pleased with the situation and position that it put him in.

Jessica stares Cero in the eyes as the boy explains what a ziamachi is. She mulls this information over for a time, before letting out a sigh and letting the constructed reishi that formed both her revolvers fade back to nothingness. She takes a leaning stance, still staring at Cero with interest in her eyes, and listens to his continuing words with folded arms.
There wasn't much else to do but wait, since Cero was speaking like a machine gun, word after word flew from his mouth. So that's what she did, until it seemed that he was almost finished. She watched soundlessly as he seemed to become more and more passionate, until at last his voice was screaming, and his reiatsu spiked as quickly as his voice did.
The pressure was certainly there before he released it. It was manageable, but then suddenly, it shot up to a level that she wasn't certain was actually possible. In an instant, the world became vibrant and full of blinding colors, and then it went incredibly dark. It stayed like that for a moment, before her own reiatsu had a chance to adapt and it was finally bearable again.
It was like a great weight was placed on her chest. She felt as though her limbs were tied down with giant stones, and that she was drowning. The amount of spiritual pressure that a child that size was putting out... it wasn't normal. She barely raised to a knee, apparently having fallen, which had gone entirely unnoticed.
She stammers out the words, "Yes! I can understand!" her voice in her own yell. She felt so quiet, so small in comparison. That feeling that this person could kill her at any time returned, as she sat on one knee, essentially helpless to the roaring current of reiatsu that was being poured out.

It was always so much to take in and process, things that worked Cero up, he seemed to have such a fragile emotion stability. This was the kind of thing that lead both the Quincy, and the Hohl Arquero, to the current situation, a situation that Cero brought about, but he didn't want things to turn out like this. Only moments after, he had shouted out at Jessica, and released some of his power, did he realize that what he had done, was something that he didn't intend to do, yet it has occurred right before his eyes. Then, was when Cero made the decisions. on how they were going to move forward from this, it was choice that he often did have to make, and would continue on having to make himself. He couldn't, however tell exactly where these choices of his would lead everyone, including himself. Cero had to come to learn from life, what choices, could lead you down certain paths. Nothing was certain, and therefore, everything could be a guess, a simple chance, none the less.
The power that should be weighing down on Jessica should at this point should be residing at this point, it was here that Cero decided to speak again. "I'm sorry for having troubled you, I also thank you for listening, and understanding..." Cero would state and from there, he would walk onward, putting distance between the two of them. "I hope that you can understand that in Karakura, there are many different individuals, whether they are human, demon, or quincy, my intentions are to protect them all." He explained, he wasn't even facing Jessica in the end, until he would turn back to look back and stop, but by using his sound manipulation, it should of been read loud and clear, as if, he was speaking directly to her.
"Would you like me to take you into the city, or would you like to find your own way?" He would ask, and he would accept either answer from the quincy.
