PERSONALITY
Personality:
Takaoni's personality can be described, in simplicity, with one word.
"Honor".
Now, while this may seem like a very odd decision to encapsule an entire persona with a simple word, it's not hard to see why this fits him, in many aspects of his being.
The first aspect that comes to mind is his attitude towards people he has just met, or comes across in his journeys. To these people, he has a very simple system of "benefit of the doubt". Even if he knows, or feels, said person to be evil, he will still treat them with respect and compassion, talking to them as if he knows them, or talking as if he sympathizes with them. He will try to create a bond of friendship with any he comes across, even if they don't have the best of intentions. This brotherly attitude stems from his unwavering belief in The Golden Rule. "One should treat others as one would like others to treat oneself." Now, this isn't to say he'd just stand there if he was attacked. He would defend himself, but if Takaoni thought for even a second that it wasn't right to fight whoever assaulted him, he'd start yelling, desperately attempting to persuade the other to stop fighting until his efforts proved completely vain.
The next aspect we will discuss is his attitude with his friends. Takaoni holds everyone he could call an "ally" in extremely high regard. He often will use honorifics, but more often than not, he will use the English titles. "Sir", "Captain", etc. Instead of "-Sama", "-Taicho", etc. While this may seem odd for someone of his status, it's a habit he developed and never left behind. Takaoni has a bit of a sacrificial complex. He will gladly throw himself in front of blades or attacks of any kind to protect those he cares about, or those he feels deserve more life. The prime example of this can be seen in how he died in the human world, which will be explained later on. Takaoni's qualifications for an ally can extend to nearly anyone, as long as they're not hell-bent on killing him. He has an extremely forgiving nature, and is ready to give literally ANYONE second and third chances. Hell, he'd buy the Devil a bouquet if he thought it'd change him.
Because of this, it's extremely difficult for him to be able to call anyone his "enemy". He has friendly rivalries with a few, and a desire to battle with some, but to be classified as an "enemy", or to earn Takaoni's spite, is a hard task. The only true way to be classified by him as a threat, or an enemy, is to REPEATEDLY threaten one of three things.
1.) The human world
2.) The Soul Society
3.) Anyone Takaoni calls an ally.
Threats that Takaoni are not present for won't count, but anyone who he sees, or hears, continually threatening or assaulting his allies, is placed on his list of enemies. For those who make this list, a whole new side of Takaoni is revealed. Instead of his kind, caring, forgiving, heartfelt demeanor.. Takaoni takes on a dark, more sinister outlook. Instead of defensive, Takaoni goes mostly on to press the attack. Instead of forgiving, Takaoni is merciless. Instead of warmth, only pain rests in his eyes. Instead of a light, airy tone, Takaoni speaks almost in a growl, as all his unreleased rage, pain, and fear culminate towards whoever managed to earn his spurning.
Another notable thing about Takaoni is his battle spirit. This is the main thing about his personality that separates him from other captains. Instead of treating battle as an outward evil, or an outward pleasure, Takaoni treats battle as part of his very soul. Particularly interesting or challenging battles infuse him with a desire to engage in battle with that person again. He says it's something that "sets his very soul ablaze", especially when there is honor in the battle.
When it comes to willpower, Takaoni is nothing short of a miracle. His will to protect, will to battle, and will for honor all culminate to making him deadly with even his weakest attacks and base strength from sheer will to win, or protect, alone. He can disregard most pain, take attacks that would kill a normal man head on and keep fighting. The greatest example of this would be when, with just his shikai, Takaoni stopped a huge siege-machine, more of a fortress. Simply by digging his weapons into it as it moved and pushing, determined to win, unmoved by the massive size of the fortress, he was able to stop it dead in its tracks.
Takaoni's favorite food is spicy chicken with dragon sauce. His favorite drink is water. His favorite type of music is a mixture of percussion, guitar, and et cetera that can only be described as "samurai rock".
Around women, Takaoni is a bit odd. His years of battle, his devotion to his job, his determination to protect, and etc. have left him in a sort of naive mindset when it comes to the ways of the world. He is chivalrous, but he's oblivious to any subtle romantic advances. In fact, he acts with shock towards any public displays of affection, as he believes it to be inappropriate to display one's love for another in a public place. This isn't to say he's incapable of love, as he is fully capable of falling for someone, he just isn't good at flirting, is all, really.
Since joining a leadership position within the Soul Society, Takaoni's personality has turned inward to a more quiet, reserved, almost docile-state. He doesn't speak much to anyone unless spoken to, or out of necessity, and his actions in battle have become decidedly more like a player of chess. His actions are more calculated, his subordinates more expendable, and the end moreso justifying the means.
NATURAL ATTRIBUTES
Natural Abilities:
Pinnacle Swordsman: While hating the concept of having to engage in a fight, Takaoni is presumably one of the most proficient swordsmen in all of Soul Society. He is a highly adaptable combatant, as his extensive sword training with his Zanpakutō and resonating blade has allowed him to become ambidextrous, letting him switch them between his hands. Takaoni usually swings with more strength in his left hand than his right, however, he can easily switch or balance the strength between his two hands, allowing him to surprise his opponent. The best example of Takaoni's prowess is his ability to fight on even grounds with a released Nemain, the 3rd Espada, with only his sealed Zanpakutō, while other captain-level Shinigami have been seen requiring at least their Shikai to fight against an Espada. Takaoni's fighting style involves evasion and attacking an opponent either in the front or back, using the element of surprise to overwhelm them. His speed and proficiency with the blade is something learned from centuries of sheer training, and isn't something to take lightly. For weak opponents, Takaoni has the potential to cut or even kill without the enemy so much as registering that he had ever drawn either of his weapons, as quickdraw "Iaijutsu" is his specialty. (See: Dance of Steel for more information on Takaoni's Swordsmanship)
Master Acrobat: Takaoni's hakuda mastery, reflexes, and captaincy experience allow him to use his highly trained mind, and body, to combat on and off the ground from almost any direction at one time. His body can bend in seemingly impossible ways, and Takaoni knows how to effectively use his own body as a weapon, not just utilizing his hands and feet for his combat.
Oceanic Spiritual Power: As one who has lived and trained for roughly four hundred years, as well as one who has held a lieutenant position and a captaincy, Takaoni's spiritual pressure is quite impressive indeed. It takes the appearance, when materialized, of a teal column that blasts upwards. As bright and vibrant as a summer sky, and burning brighter with every new reason he gains for fighting his opponent. His spiritual pressure is enough to where he needs to control herself in battle if any hapless Lieutenants or any Third Seats are around, as he's been known to cause some breathing trouble in those around him.
Poison/Stun Resistance: As a former assassin, and a special operative in both his human life and his shinigami life, as well as someone with a large amount of spiritual pressure, Takaoni boasts a complete physical, mental, and spiritual immunity to poisons. Along with this, Takaoni has developed the ability to negate techniques or attacks that would otherwise stun or paralyze him by using a controlled string of reiatsu bursts to even out his nervous system.
Enhanced Strength: Takaoni is strong enough to take on bigger opponents, easily overcoming those four times his size. He has shown himself capable of lifting large slabs of concrete debris that he was buried under with little or no effort. Takaoni's strength is such to where he can block blades bare-handed, shatter steel, or even do major internal damage with his sword strikes.
Shunpo Specialist: As an offense-specialist and captain, Takaoni is also required to be highly proficient in Shunpo. He actively uses his mastery of Shunpo techniques and is highly proficient in evasion in close quarters as well as from a distance. Thus making hitting him almost impossible if not for the most advanced combatant. His movements are noticeably so fast that few would be likely to see an attack take place. The reasoning for his extreme speed in both his defending and attacking is because of his relatively low durability, and his complete uselessness where hand-to-hand is concerned.
- Utsusemi (空蝉, Cicada, referencing their molting) Way of Onmitsu, 3rd of the Shihō: It allows for a movement at great, sudden speed, leaving at least one tangible after-image behind.
- Senka (閃花, Flash Blossom): a special Shunpo technique where one moves to their opponent's back, directly attacking and sealing one's "Saketsu" and "Hakusui" in two rapid strikes (effectively cutting them off of their spiritual energy flow). The movement is so fast that an opponent may not be able to tell whether he was attacked from the front or the back and even an outside observer may find it impossible to tell what the movements are
Master Strategist & Tactician: As Captain of the 5th Division, Takaoni has shown himself to be a capable leader. Repeatedly, Takaoni has shown to be insightful and crafty, quickly capable of understanding any situation that presents itself and adjust to it effectively. Takaoni has shown an innate skill to determine what actions should be taken in battle. The tactics he employs are based on subterfuge and confusion. He has shown to be adept in putting his opponents into a false sense of security and allowing them to underestimate his abilities. A common tactic of his is to gauge the opponent's strengths and weaknesses in the middle of combat.
Master Kidō User: Takaoni's most used skill, and by far his strongest area, spiritually, save for his Shunpo, is his usage of Kidō. Takaoni, even during his academy days, was always in the top of his class with his Kidō use. His captaincy of the 5th division is proof of this. His shots are terrifyingly accurate, and he has been known to use Kidō along with his Zanjutsu to bind and confuse opponents while he gets in close to utilize his blade (Or, if released, will use Kido on top of his energy to keep his opponents at a distance and keep himself from being hit at all in most occasions). Takaoni can recite up into the 90s without an incantation, although at that level the techniques are weakened, but not by much. He has knowledge of the forbidden kido techniques, but has not used them thus far.
- Eishōhaki (詠唱破棄, "Incantation Abandonment"): A class of Kidō Incantation where the Kidō practitioner forgoes using a spoken incantation at all. While it decreases the time needed to release the Kidō, it drastically weakens the spell. While anyone well versed in Kidō can use this technique, it is most effective when done by a skilled practitioner, otherwise the spell could utterly fail (e.g. explode in the user's face). The most skilled experts are capable of using this technique to amazing effect.
- Nijū Eishō (二重詠唱, "Twofold Incantation"): a class of Kidō Incantation where the Kidō practitioner mixes the incantations of two entirely separate Kidō spells together to save time and confuse their opponent at the same time.
- Kōjutsu Eishō (後述詠唱, "Spoken-After Incantation"): A class of Kidō Incantation where the incantation is recited after initiating the spell in order to power it up.
- Ha Jumon (刃呪文, "Bladed Incantation"): A special brand of Kido usage unique to Takaoni. By channeling all of the energy needed for a Kido into the blade of either his Zanpakutō or his Resonating Blade, Takaoni can do one of two things with it. The first would be to "store" the energy there, effectively keeping it until he needs it and allowing him to spring a surprise attack on an opponent, allowing him to launch high level kido at rapid speeds this way since the kido has already technically been cast, just time-delayed. The second is that he can give his blade the attributes of that kido for the next sword swing. For example, if he were to put the energy for a binding bakudo into the blade, if that blade were to make direct contact with an opponent, that energy would jump out of the blade and attempt to use that same bakudo on the opponent, except at a much closer range and with much less delay between the start of the kido and the completion of the binding. It is for this reason that this technique is extremely volatile, and the development of it is one of the reasons he was given his captaincy.
Equipment:
The Resonating Blade:
This blade is one that Takaoni is extremely proud of, and one that he has had with him since his young days. A gift from his father, this decorative wood-gripped katana has a special kind of spiritual steel woven into the blade known as "Soul Steel". This special attribute allows for the blade to be "linked" to another blade through a ritual involving the blood of the copied blade owner ending up on the hilt of the Resonating Blade. Once the two blades are linked, the Resonating Blade takes on the qualities that the copied blade does. This doesn't include physical attributes, but instead includes the things that blade can do. This means that, since his RB is linked to his Zanpakutō, the sword styles and sealed abilities that Takaoni uses with his Zanpakutō can be used with his Resonating Blade instead, or both if he so chooses. This allows for a good bit of deception, as he can keep his Zanpakutō sheathed while he fights with the Resonating Blade, allowing people to believe that the RB is his Zanpakutō. The resonating blade cannot copy released forms, though. This means that when Takaoni moves into his Shikai state or higher, the Resonating Blade stays as it normally would be otherwise. The blade is extremely difficult to break, as the Soul Steel has a toughness akin to sekiseki. If someone else were to acquire the blade, they could re-link it to a blade of their own simply by performing the ritual. The same is true for Takaoni, as he could have the Resonating Blade take on unreleased attributes of another weapon if he were to get their permission and their blood.
Reiatsu Color: Takaoni's reiatsu comes in the form of a vibrant teal coloration.
Dance of Steel: The Iaijutsu
Takaoni has his own style of Iaijutsu that he created over the years. To begin with, one must know the principles of Iai. Iai is the drawing of the sword, followed by the cutting of the opponent, followed by the swinging off of the blood, followed by resheathing the blade all in a single move. Many different styles of Iaijutsu exist, but Takaoni's takes the speed of the move to the next level. The blade is drawn, cut, and resheathed in a fraction of a second, giving him the appearance of never moving his arm. The only way it is seen is by a glint of light that represents the blade's reflection of light. This arc is teal in color.
Note: All techniques can be used with either or both blades.
Sword Techniques:
Name: Dankai (断罪, Conviction)
Type: Offensive
Range: Short
Description: Launching himself into the air, Takaoni strikes downward toward an opponent with one or both of his blades immediately after drawing them in his signature style. The use of this technique involves precise muscle usage, and channels all of Takaoni's downward force into the simple strike, meaning that there is a significant amount of force behind this blow. Typically, there is enough to shatter steel if used with just one blade, as well as cause a significant shockwave in the surrounding area.
Name: Zankai (慙海, Regret)
Type: Defensive
Range: Short
Description: Bringing either one or both of his blades out immediately in front of him from a sheathed position, Takaoni will move his blade(s) through the air at a rate so rapid that it might appear to be a blur to an opponent. While this can be used to do damage to an opponent, its primary usage is to slice apart and dispell incoming energy or elemental attacks. By driving one blade directly into the heart of an incoming attack, this technique essentially halts its momentum before Takaoni performs a series of one-hundred rapid strikes to "shred" the energy before it can reach him. The drawback of this is that he has to be in a position to where he can see and be directly in front of the incoming attack, as he has to be facing it to use this technique.
Name: Goukoku (号哭, Lamentation)
Type: Offensive
Range: Long
Description: Takaoni starts this technique with a quick burst of shunpo while his blade is still sheathed, carrying him directly in front of the opponent as he draws either blade in a quick flash of steel so rapid that it might simply be seen as a brief burst of light, if its seen at all by the naked eye. What actually happens is a wide horizontal strike fast and strong enough to completely bisect an opponent (even through relatively strong hierro) if this attack goes unanswered.
Name: Ukkutsu (鬱屈, Anguish)
Type: Offensive, Crowd Control
Range: Long
Description: Takaoni will move forward rapidly, using shunpo to enhance his speed as he travels forward in a crescent-moon motion (a 270 degree arc) until he is at a location directly right or left of his previous location about 100 yards. Unlike normal shunpo, this technique leaves a wide arc of teal light signifying his trail. This light is actually an after-image of his sword's location, as immediately after disappearing into his shunpo, Takaoni will draw his blade directly into a wide, crescent strike meant for mowing down hundreds of weak opponents at a time. This technique is known as the "Anti-Army" Iaijustu, as once this technique has started, there is very little known that could stop Takaoni from completing the arc, almost ensuring the sword strike will follow the intended arc.
Name: Hariken (ハリケーン, Hurricane)
Type: Offensive, Crowd Control
Range: Long
Description: To use this technique, Takaoni will move forward at an accelerated rate, not quite shunpo, but very close, using his natural movement speed to his advantage, for about 100 yards.. For each opponent he approaches, he will make a quickdraw strike for either their body or one of their legs or arms, never a lethal strike, before rapidly re-sheathing his blade as he moves forward to the next opponent. With each strike he lands, he gains a "counter" on this technique, essentially, starting at zero, and moving upward by one for each hit. When he reaches the end of his path, Takaoni will turn on his heel, drawing his sword in one last strike as the act of drawing unleashes a torrent of blades made out of his reiatsu and pure wind itself on the hapless opponents behind him. There will be three of these blades for each counter, and the more counters he has on this technique, the stronger the blades are. Roughly bala strength for ten or less counters, cero for 11-20, gran rey cero for 21-40, cero oscuras for 41-80, and double the strength of a cero oscuras for 81+ , causing a horrendous amount of devastation as these blades rain down on the army behind him. Much like the technique before this, Takaoni dubs this an "Anti-Army" Iaijutsu.
Name: Zanmetsu (残滅, Execution)
Type: Offensive
Range: Medium
Description: Gathering a large amount of reiatsu within his sheath, Takaoni unsheathes his blade and resheathes it in a move so rapid that its virtually undetectable as he unleashes that energy forward in a horizontal blast of teal reiatsu akin to a cero, but with the force of a gran rey cero once it impacts. This blast travels at a high-level bala strength, making it hard to dodge or avoid if an opponent isn't rooted in speed. However, the true deviousness of this technique lies in the fact that once its launched, Takaoni can telepathically change its direction from its initial path with no loss of speed or transition to the new direction, its an instantaneous change. However, he can only do this changing of direction once for each blast, and once he's launched one it takes three posts for him to recharge enough energy to launch another one. If he tries before this three-post limit, he'll either launch a significantly weaker blast, or the energy could blow up in his face.
Name: Zanshu (斬首, Decapitation)
Type: Offensive
Range: Short
Description: Takaoni will move directly in front of an opponent, unsheathing his blade and slamming the flat end of the blade against their throat before completing the "arc" by slamming his opponent into the ground using the momentum and force from the draw. Once they hit the ground, Takaoni will turn the blade on its edge, drawing it inward rapidly in a motion made to either slice the throat (for opponents with a firm hierro), or completely separate the head from the shoulders. There is no guarantee that this attack will work, and the short range makes it hard to pull off, but is a true "finishing move" should Takaoni complete it.
Name: Kyoukou (恐惶, Veneration)
Type: Buff
Range: N/A
Description: Much like a former technique, this technique is based off of a counter system. Moving forward, Takaoni must have both blades unsheathed for this technique to come into effect. If he has both blades drawn, he can then perform a series of shunpo movements to form an imaginary pentagram with his path. Once he completes this pentagram, this technique is activated, and the counter starts at zero. For each strike that makes contact with an opponent's body directly after this is activated, Takaoni gains a counter. For each counter, Takaoni's base speed, shunpo speed, and attack speed are increased by a multiplier of .2 added onto the base. (One strike would be 1.2x his normal speed, two would be 1.4, etc.) all the way up to 3.0x. When he reached 3.0, he will be three times as fast with his attacks, techniques, base speed, kido, shunpo, etc. This 3x multiplier will last until he releases his Zanpakutō, sheathes one of his blades, or is defeated by an opponent.
SEALED Zanpakutō
Zanpakutô Spirit Name: Tengokuno Monno Hoto Akuma [lit. "The Prodigal Devil of Heaven's Gate"
Zanpakutô Spirit Appearance:
Inner World:
Sealed Zanpakutô Appearance :
Sealed Zanpakutô Abilities:
Data Storage:
So long as Takaoni has his Zanpakutō on hand, he will be able to instantly recall any single piece of information he's ever learned. From an opponent's signature techniques that he's experienced previously, to the scent of an apple pie he caught on a visit to the human realm two hundred years ago. All of the data his brain has ever recorded or will ever record is "stored" within his Zanpakutō, allowing him to bring it back and use it when he needs it at any time. The downside to this is that when his Zanpakutō isn't within fifty meters of him, he has a terrible memory, barely remembering things that've happened the previous day, much less the previous year.
Release: Integrate, Tengokuno Monno Hoto Akuma!
SHIKAI
Shikai Description:
In his shikai state, Takaoni will seemingly not change in appearance or reiatsu level. However, his eyes will change from their normal deep blue to the bright teal of his reiatsu, showing the use of this state even if the opponent did not see the releasing of it.
Shikai Abilities:
Speed Enhancement: Takaoni's strength and durability do not improve upon activation of this form. However, his speed will gain a slight boost, allowing him to become fast enough with his shunpo to leave a slight flash of teal whenever its used, possibly causing disorientation in opponents from the "snap" of the light.
Reiatsu Enhancement: Although his spiritual pressure doesn't feel any thicker or heavier to opponents while Takaoni is in shikai, the changes show in his ability usage. His reserves and the strength of his spiritual abilities amplify considerably, essentially making him able to use more and higher kido without feeling the drain as much, as well as allow him to shunpo for longer periods consecutively.
Ability Analysis Technique 1: Kiroku: This technique may seem simple, but its the basis for all of Takaoni's abilities in shikai and beyond. When an opponent launches an attack, be it spiritual, elemental, or something of that nature, Takaoni's eyes see it in a different light than the rest of the world. Takaoni will see a grid system, eclipsing the attack as its incoming. This grid analyzes the attack in a fraction of a second, telling Takaoni the elements that comprise it, the damage it would do upon hitting him, the speed its traveling at, et cetera. This allows Takaoni to grasp an understanding of the technique and make a decision on how to act all within a split moment, either blocking, dodging, or countering as the case may be. This is not a perfect technique by any means, and of course it has drawbacks. The first of these is that even though Takaoni may be able to analyze within a split second, if an opponent with attacks that surpass this speed assaults him, he may not be able to analyze them in time. The second is that he must see the attack to be able to analyze it, meaning attacks from an angle he isn't looking or attacks invisible to the naked eye will remain unanalyzed. The third is that even if Takaoni finishes analyzing an attack, he can only move based on the constraints of his own body. So, even with his high levels of speed, he may not be able to evade if the attack is strong or fast enough. The fourth is that if the attack is hiding another attack within, or if the attack will turn into something else, Takaoni cannot analyze the "trick" part of it, only able to analyze what's on the surface. The fifth is that he cannot analyze incoming physical attacks, only attacks with their base in some sort of energy. The sixth is that Takaoni cannot analyze attacks that have properties which make them immune to analysis.
BANKAI
Bankai Description:
Takaoni's bankai is where things get slightly interesting. Holding out his Zanpakutō, Takaoni will call out "Bankai". Following this, Takaoni's Zanpakutō will turn into a multicolored array of squares, each looking like a grid off of a computer game. These squares will dissolve into the air, swirling around Takaoni before covering his face completely as a massive black grid with blue lines surrounds him in a box roughly shaped like a Hadō 90. After a moment, this grid will dissolve, and Takaoni's bankai form will be revealed. He is covered from head to toe in armor with glowing trim, including a mask and cape. While he keeps his resonating blade on his right hip, his right hand will now hold a small, disk-shaped object with a hole in the center, glowing like the rest of his armor is. The edge of this ring is as sharp as his Zanpakutō, and fast, but lacks range.
Bankai Abilities:
Massive Speed Enhancement: Takaoni's only true boost is, once again, to his speed. However, the boost he receives in bankai truly shows why that is. His movement speed, even without shunpo, has now made him hard to discern, even by the naked eye. Where his shunpo is concerned though, the change is almost on a whole other plane. Each blast of shunpo is so quick that it would appear as if he were teleporting. In some instances, it may seem as if he is in the new location before he even finished leaving the old location, as one might see his image fading as they felt his attack, or saw his new location. His speed, combined with his techniques, make him truly something to be feared where a battle of quick strikes is concerned.
Massive Reiatsu Enhancement: In bankai, it might seem as if Takaoni's reserves are a bottomless maw. No matter how much kido he uses, no matter how many techniques he uses, he never seems to tire, making a battle of longevity almost certainly one in his favor. On top of this, his spiritual pressure is magnified exponentially in this form, despite it not being so in his shikai, creating a thick fog-like feeling for anyone of a weaker persuasion who might find themselves on the battlefield during a fight of his.
Augmented Ability Analysis Technique 1: Kiroku: Much like the first incarnation of this technique, this acts as a "scanner" of sorts for incoming energy. The big difference, however, is with the bankai usage of this technique, it's a lot faster, and with a bigger range, scanning any of the appropriately-originated abilities that come within fifty yards of Takaoni's person, even those he isn't looking at. However, the drawbacks of not allowing the analyzing of physical attacks and the dependency on his own reaction time still remain. The other chane to this technique is the fact that he can now detect "traps". Abilities hidden within abilities, abilities launched behind other abilities, that sort of things. However, abilities that are made to suddenly "change form", he will still be unable to fully detect, as well as abilities with an immunity to analysis.
Ability Analysis Technique 2: Dokasuru: This technique is the next stage of Takaoni's ability analysis, unlockable only through bankai. Essentially, when an incoming ability that his first technique has analyzed reaches his person, he may hold up the ring-shaped "blade" he holds in his right hand, touching the incoming technique with it. When he does so, the center of the ring will glow momentarily at the attack's momentum is halted before it is "broken down", turning into the same colored grid from earlier and breaking into particles that then flow into the blade as the bars of light that adorn Takaoni's body pulse. All of this happens in roughly a second of time. What this ability is, in essence, is a "re-enforcement". When Takaoni absorbs an incoming attack this way, the armor adorning him gains a 10% resistance to that particular attack from that particular opponent. For example, if an arrancar launched two cero at him, and he absorbed both of them, his armor would then take 20% less damage from incoming cero from that arrancar from then on if one managed to hit him. This stacks up to 10, meaning that he could feasibly be granted a 100% immunity to types of incoming energy. However, this only applies to attacks based in energy. This means that rubble being launched at him, physical attacks, and even energy attacks made from reiatsu that cannot be tampered with, cannot be absorbed or have immunity granted from them when this technique is used. The other downside to this is the short range of the ring itself. If an attack were to explode in front of him, he couldn't absorb the residual energy, and he would be blown back potentially by the force. If an attack were to hit him from behind, above, or below, there is little he could do with this technique to stop it. The attack he absorbs must be in its original form, and close enough for the ring to touch it, for this technique to work. Beyond that, if he tries to absorb an attack and the attack cannot be absorbed for one of the listed reasons, or another exception, he is left to take the full force of it from nearly point-blank range. Finally, these immunities only remain so long as he is in the thread where he got them. If he were to leave his bankai state, be knocked out, or exit the thread, all of his immunity stacks would reset to zero.
Ability Analysis Technique 3: Sairiyo: The final usage of this ability can only be used after Technique 2 has already been used on at least one attack. Takaoni has the option of draining one of the 10% stacks of immunity in any one attack type to add the power and traits of that attack to either his weapon strikes, or his kido. For example, if he had absorbed three cero, and his immunity was at 30%, he could then syphon 10% of that, dropping the immunity to 10%. He could then channel that 10% into a Hadō 4, increasing the strength, force, and speed of the attack by a cero's attributes. Another example would be a fire blast. If he had absorbed four of those, he could remove 20% of his 40% immunity, adding it on top of a Hadō 91 to add two fire blasts worth of power, speed, and force behind the Hadō. This carries the dual effect of also transferring the attributes, meaning that the Hadō would cause a "burning" effect with the intensity of two of the fire blasts as well. He can sacrifice up to 100% immunity for any type of energy to use this technique. However, if he were to sacrifice the 100% immunity into an attack, he would be unable to absorb another attack of that type again for the remainder of the thread.

BACKGROUND
Warning: Shitty and Abridged Bare Minimum History Ahead. I just wanted this guy done. As with all of my histories, I'll expand later.[
Out of all the children born within the Soul Society, few had as disturbing a birth as Takaoni Ayano.
For starters, it is rare for a house to randomly explode within the Rukongai when there's literally no one around to have caused said explosion, especially when the people who lived within were unknown to most, besides their neighbors. They were quiet people. They never threatened anyone, or even caught any attention. Until their house exploded, that is.
Secondly, it's extraordinarily odd to walk into the ruins of said house if you're a shinigami who's investigating, and see a child, newly born, with absolutely no one around to possibly lay claim as the parent. A healthy baby, alive and well. No scars, burns, or any signs of injury whatsoever.
And lastly, it is nearly never the case to feel spiritual pressure at a noticeable level in a newborn, especially not one who seems to just have undergone a horrible accident. Ignoring his suspicions, the investigating shinigami took the child back to the Soul Society, submitting him to 12th division to see if they could figure out what had caused her immunity from the explosion. Even after weeks of examination, they couldn't find it. But what they did find, is a child with extraordinary potential, and a powerful future shinigami, if he could be trained correctly.
Word quickly got around that there was an exceptional orphan child in the care of 12th division, and Takaoni was quickly picked up by one of the lesser noble families. The "Masaaki" family of the lesser noble houses quickly adopted him into their care, giving him more luxury than he ever would've known in the slums of the rukongai, but as he grew up, he began acting like a noble in a sense that wasn't traditional. He wanted to be a Shinigami. Sure, he would act dignified and official at weddings, business, or other such proceedings, but most of the time he was content to train relentlessly, rarely ever speaking to anyone in his family, including his teachers and trainers. He kept himself in a sort of eerie-silence.. Always attentive, always learning, always growing and training, but rarely, if ever, speaking. Because of this, no one really ever knew much about him, and no one knew how dangerous he really was under his quiet facade.
At some point during his childhood, Takaoni discovered Yuko Murasaki, a young spirit within the Rukongai. They became fast friends, and were virtually inseparable as Yuko began following his footsteps in his daily life and in his eventual joining of the Thirteen Court Guard Squads.
When he was old enough, as dubbed by his adoptive parents, he was put into the advanced classes at the shinigami training center, the Academy. Many of the more commonplace students resented him for the free-ride to the top, thinking that he wasn't deserving of the advanced status, and for the first few days, when the training focused on strength and hand-to-hand combat, it would seem as if he wasn't. In challenges of physical strength alone, he failed miserably, having weak defenses, and virtually no offensive technique with his hands. In challenges of hand-to-hand combat, his form was weak and untrained, unfocused and unbalanced. He had been either pinned or beaten within minutes every time. His instructors and fellow classmates labeled him as a flop from almost day one.. until his classes began focusing more on speed and swordsmanship, and his kido training began. From the very first class, practicing Hadō Number One on training dummies, Takaoni's talent was undeniable. For starters, his first Hadō One sent a training dummy fifteen meters back into a wall. Second, his first Hadō four was not only a perfect bullseye, but also managed to go THROUGH the target and pierce the wall behind it as well. Couple this with his exceptional speed and agility, demonstrated during his quick and masterful learning of shunpo, and he more than made up for his lack of strength and physical combat prowess. His sparring partners knew that if he was unarmed, Takaoni was an easy target. The problem was, he made it a LOT more challenging for anyone to catch him without his blade or his kido. His quick sword-style and blend of zanjutsu styles and kido techniques made him a hard target to get a pin on.
It wasn't long before he graduated, top of his class, from the academy. With his sword, speed, and kido prowess, those in his family and those who had watched him train had expected him to pursue a spot in the second division, or the sixth. It came as a shock to anyone who even remotely knew him when he chose the fifth division, quickly being accepted as an unseated officer.
Over the years, Takaoni aided fifth division in many developments and missions, using his speed for resource gathering, and his intelligence and analytical ability to catch mistakes and possible dangers in new techniques and innovations. Even with all his work, very few within his division ever heard him speak in his time within the lower-end of the rankings. As he began moving up, various missions and experiments warranting promotion after promotion, his name quickly spread throughout the division. His determination to do more and more for the squad was unprecedented, and almost unhealthy. Only one person had ever reported seeing him asleep. Any time anyone saw her otherwise, he was working diligently, earning more and more his right to be where she was. Eventually, after decades of work and betterment of his position in the squad (working his way up to lieutenant), and his own powers as a shinigami (achieving the Bankai release), he found herself in front of a select panel of captains, taking the ultimate test, the Captaincy exam, as the captaincy spot had open in 5th division, and there was no argument that Takaoni was the most qualified to be tested to take her place. Surprising no one, he passed with flying colors, and the white haori of the fifth division's captaincy became his mantle. After being granted this position, messages started being sent out to all corners of the division. It was the first time the division's production had been in full-swing in quite a while, but it most certainly wouldn't be the last...
