An Awakening to the Spiritual World [CLOSED/Styn]
Tue Jul 15, 2014 11:25 pm
The sound of a book slamming shut and the sound of several ruffling papers as Yuyuko flipped the pages of another book were heard as she was searching for something specific in her tomes. The current book was one on human psychology and, in particular, the sanity of the human mind. It went over the basic concepts of sanity and one's mental state near the beginning, and gradually devolved into more confusing and complex topics. They were nothing to Yuyuko though, as her mind was quite good at understanding such concepts. The human mind was her forte, although with her it worked in more of a way of analyzing the basic behaviors of other people. Heck, she had gotten so skilled at figuring people out that she did it subconsciously now, which actually sounded a little creepy now that she thought about it. Maybe she should stop doing that... Ah, but how does one keep their subconscious, which works on it's own, from doing things? Maybe she'd have to look that up in a book too, which meant that this book on sanity wouldn't be much help. Slamming it closed, Yuyuko sighed and looked down at it with a tired look. Time to get another book now, the young girl thought before picking up her other three books and stacking them neatly on top of each other.
Her parent's mansion had such an expansive library, it was insane. Luckily it was just outside the foyer as well so she didn't have to go through any winding hallways to get to the main area of the mansion. It also meant that she could simply just walk in her home, take her shoes off and be in said library within the same minute. Such convenience did not go unappreciated by Yuyuko in the slightest. However, as she stood up and lifted up the thick tomes of knowledge, she heard some commotion in the foyer. It sounded as if the guards were having some sort of trouble, possibly someone trying to get in, or maybe just a petty argument. The men entrusted with the safety of the Mikadzuki family weren't the brightest, but they usually got the job done. They also weren't the most upbeat people either, as they would always bicker with each other. At times it could be annoying, but most of the time it could just be ignored. This was not one of those times, much to Yuyuko's dismay. The young girl's already sleep deprived mind was currently racking itself for possible subjects they could be verbally debating/arguing about now. Most likely something petty, as was the guard's usual mindset, but she wasn't one to judge. The human mind couldn't process much, and unfortunately for her she too was a human, so most everything they thought of was simple. One could argue math or science is complex, but really they're just a way of taking things and finding a way to make them seem simple via breaking down the complex components into terms or numbers, often both. But bah, Yuyuko was currently rambling on to herself. She needed to put these tomes away and possibly take a nap soon, and the guards were distracting her.
"I do hope they finish their argument soon." Yuyuko mumbled sleepily to herself. A yawn escaped her mouth and her lavender eyes were half closed from drowsiness, showing just how tired she was at the moment. "Oh well, I have other things to distract myself with anyways."

Styn's research was pretty much complete at this point. For the last hour he had been surveying the household of one Mr. Mikadzuki. This was another lead in a long line of disappointments in locating a drug that was circulating throughout the underbelly of Karakura. The Demon Knight could generally care less about humans poisoning their minds, but in this particular case he felt he had a stake. After all the drug somehow granted humans the ability to use Za Koa.
From his investigations, Mr Mikadzuki owned a small pharmaceutical company. The logo from that company had been found on some of the boxes that Styn had tracked down from a shipment a few weeks ago. At this point even a weak lead like that was something he felt inclined to act on. After all, the Kingpin of Karakura still refused to meet with him. Once again Styn was forced to wonder if this wasn't the work of a less important asset of Shadow Fall. Then again only the strongest would be able to make it this deep into the city and remain undetected.
Currently the Demon Knight stood in a patch of well manicured grass that boarded the main walkway to the mansion. His Cloak of Shadows made him undetectable to spiritual perceptions and his Mirror Veil extended that invisibility to the visual range. Due to the bending of light he was probably even immune to infrared and ultraviolet detection methods should the household possess such resources. He'd only been able to venture past the dome recently, but already it was clear how much reliance people had on that particular piece of technology to keep them safe.
Normally Styn would be unable to see when behind a Mirror Veil, and it was true that his own eyes were not doing his looking. Instead a swarm of gnats he had summoned earlier spun all about the mansion. They were crafted with only a minimal regard for their strength, but still had the durability of a grown adult male. Styn had also toyed with their visual capabilities to enhance their value as spies. He now had the tools he needed to effect a silent infiltration.
Just moments before Styn had acquired the final piece. The doors would not open unless done so from the inside, where Styn could see two guards chatting each other up. Both were wired, armed, and rather large for regular humans. Styn wasn't worried about any of those things - except the wire perhaps - because he was trying to get inside with out the fuss of ripping off a door and subduing the guards. It would be harder to track his target if Mr. Mikadzuki decided to pull a disappearing act.
His key to the castle was making her way up the walkway now. A no nonsense woman, dressed nicely and a bit on the older side was returning with no less then four large dogs. Styn had wondered how long it would take her to return. She marched up to the doors and the guard on the right did his job and opened the doors finally. The quick burst of air as he used Shadow Movement to pull himself to the ceiling of the foyer went unnoticed as the dogs boiled into the room.
Styn also had a few of the gnats follow him inside so he wouldn't be blind. The Demon Knight surveyed his new surroundings and after a moment spotted a likely set of double doors to the right. Hopefully it led to some kind of sitting room that wasn't occupied at the moment. This time Styn had no need for high level movement and simply leapt toward the door, touching down with barely a sound.
Even if he had jumped with the pounding of a herd of elephants it might have gone unnoticed. The large dogs were too well trained to bark, but the guards were not. The two men wasted no time fussing over the dogs and play fighting with them in a very loud manner. Even their impeccable breeding couldn't hold out under that assault for long. To the older woman's obvious exasperation the dogs were soon in on the fun, growling at the men and getting into a feisty mood.
In the chaos Styn simply opened up the door, dismissing his Mirror Veil. Now that he was inside he wasn't particularly worried about discovery. The two guards were hardly going to admit that they had let some shady looking individual into the area. Styn had gone through an extra effort to blend in this time even. His tie was tightened, his shoes were shined, and his clothes didn't look like they'd been slept in the night before. Green hair and pale violet eyes might draw some attention though.
The Demon Knight was surprised to find that the room was occupied and was quick to close the doors behind him. Consulting his memory about Mr. Mikadzuki's household brought a face and description that matched the young figure he saw sitting before him. Styn put on his most charming smile and bowed at the waist with a wide theatrical sweep of his right arm. "Ah Miss Yuyoko, what a pleasant surprise. Perhaps you'd be able to tell me where your father is at the moment?"
