A Declaration for Third! (Toshiro)
Sat Feb 15, 2014 6:54 pm
The stage was set in a grand fashion, the barracks of the seventh squad had yet to see the light of day as of now but standing in the middle of the training grounds of the area though still perhaps to dark to see and most likely quite bizarre to imagine was a girl who to those in the barracks would seem quite familiar. The Shinigami standing in the middle of the barracks was well known for being a eccentric even by the level of the Seireitei as she stood out on the field of mock battle behind her those around or at least waking up or simply taking a early stroll in order to wake themselves up would see a large sign seemingly stuck in the ground along with Kanae Takada taking a dramatic and cool looking pose that she had made for herself. It seemed the sign held valuable information on it for the true purpose of the girl's reasoning for being so early to rise as well as being there in the training courtyard in the first place. Those who could read the sign from a distance in the slight darkness or those who decided to get closer who see. "CHALLENGE OF POSITION TOSHIRO WATANABE!" The sign clearly had some sort of reasoning and it seemed to be a challenge to the third seat of the division at that.
Kanae had noted that the man seemingly was pulling his weight in his position, all the danger and time that came with... It meant that she could be the hero in so many more ways! It wasn't exactly the smartest nor the best reason to call out the man but for the rather odd looking and odd acting girl it was only natural to give an enemy time to prepare as it was the good and just and....Heroic thing to do... As the eccentric stood in the middle of the field she was prepared for combat, all her gear had been assembled and she was prepped for some sort of stand-off. With Zanpakutō at her side it did seem that the girl's challenge was not only legitimate but it should be taken with caution as even with the Squad 7 barracks the nature and actions of the fourth seat were known to be an oddity but her prowess in combat and seemed unnaturally good sense of battle made her a opponent that left many confused and dis-oriented just before the killing strike. As she stood seemingly wearing what seemed to be her sleeping wear the girl would stare out to the distance all the while talking to herself feigning what seemed to be a heroic voice. "Hehehehehe.... Truly it is a good day for battle....But....." The girl's voice seemed to peter out in the end. "TOSHIROOOOOO! WHERE ARE YOUUUUUU?!"
The shouting was quite loud and notably obnoxious for some, the girl's foolishness knew no bounds thinking that the opponent she had wished to see would come to her simply because she had put a declaration of battle against him. She thought that once their combat had ended she could be rewarded with his rank had she won and she could go about saving people from more danger while also being viewed as a bit more of the heroes that those at the Captain class were viewed with in the Seireitei and Rukongai respectively. However until the man that she had called out appeared before her she was simply spinning her wheels until something came up. Pouting a bit at the lack of any sign of her opponent Kanae whispered to herself. "A good guy always gets here on time, its not nice to keep the female protagonist waiting...." The seemingly TV like system of events that played in the girl's mind were the height of how moronic she could truly be. It was only a matter of time before her challenge reached the ears of her target considering she was shouting out his name, it might be before then but assuredly it would be one way or another that some sort of showdown would occur in the courtyard.

Toshiro had resided within the barracks of the 7th Division for the large majority of his day. He was the third seat and had duties to complete prior to resting. He held a pen in his right hand and wrote out summaries of the recent incidents for the Captain to review. He was a rather quiet and shy individual and even though he always remained composed there were times where the thought, ‘how did I get here’. He wasn’t lost but intrigued as to how he got the position as third seat after so many people within the Squad are stronger?
He spun in his chair while he thought to himself but then he heard his name being shouted from the courtyard. He thought something had happened as he only caught his name being mentioned, nothing more or less. He took hold of the Zanpakutō and began rushing outside. His shoes tapped across the wooden flooring and created a rather repetitive tone with every step. He began breathing faster as he rushed toward the courtyard; in one hand he held his Zanpakutō while in the other a pen.
His eyes glanced around as a lot of people gathered around the courtyard. He began pushing past and nudging a few to one side until he reached the stairs. His eyes looked over at some form of banner and everyone whispered, “She’s challenging the 3rd Seat” while some whispered “Cute”. Toshiro was worried and wasn’t sure if randomly challenging a seated member was allowed, he gulped as he took a few strides down the stairs that lay before him. His eyes looking at the girl as he slipped the pen into his pocket; his head turned to the right and noticed the Captain exiting his chambers. The man looked as relaxed as ever and within moments leapt over the wooden banisters prior to landing.
The man looked over at Toshiro and the girl prior to taking a seat on a chair made from countless diverse rocks. His eyes closely watched as he waved his hand as if to suggest ‘begin’. It seemed the Captain allowed this to take place, therefore Toshiro wasn’t about to lose. His head turned back to the girl as he deemed her his opponent now; his right hand began unsheathing the Zanpakutō while leaving the sheath within the left. As he unsheathed the blade his left foot began dragging across the muddy surface which formed some dust around his feet; his right foot moved back as he entered his stance. His eyes looked keen and his left hand gestured ‘come at me’….
(( Sorry for taking so long, only noticed it yesterday hahah, should have mailed me ))

The crowed gathering in the courtyard seemed to get the message to the 3rd seat finally, Kanae had expected to die of old age before he found his way to her but that was probably her exaggerated persona in work for the most part. As she looked onto the scene of many fellow Shinigami making their way to make this a spectacle she also noticed the appearance of her fated opponent. "Puh, puh puh Looks like you finally found yourself here!" Her words seemed to mimic more the villain of the heroes that she worshiped yet she felt that it was a grand stage to work on so both needed to play a part of the grandiose battle. "Well now you're here we can finally get started keeping a lady waiting is a bad move ya know tactlessness at its best! The lecture she was giving seemed to be quite unneeded though the Shinigami she had called out, Toshiro, seemed much more nervous than she had expected. It seemed that he was not wanting or expecting a battle or combat from one in his own division but Kanae was one to buck trends and be ambitious in her movement to true herodom.
As she saw her opponent she also noted the captain of the division making an entrance. Landing in quite a cool manner and taking position over the battle he seemed to beckon her rival down to start the match. "Thank you for refereeing Captain!" Her seemed childish gratitude was perhaps a bit too sweet for the Shinigami but nonetheless she had got what she wanted and was ready to challenge Toshiro in battle. As the man touched the muddy ground he took a stance for combat as he unsheathed his blade and made his way to almost taunt her into attacking him. Puffing up her cheeks Kanae looked almost angry at the perceived insult. "How villainous taunting a young woman like that, its no wonder that you look so scruffy looking and mean..." Drawing her own blade from her side Kanae began throwing it up in the air each time counting off numbers down to one as if it was a babe in her hands she was throwing up in the air. "Three, Two, One!" Each time the blade landed in her hands the smile on the Albino Shinigami seemed quite wider each time.
Finally grabbing hold of it after two or three times of the act she unsheathed her sword in splendid fashion. Letting loose her sword she aimed it at her opponent. "I Kanae Takada will make a declaration! In order to reform your lazy and delinquent ways I will educated you through taking your position as 3rd seat!" With that she began her attack, swift and strange the movement of the girl's blade seemed as if she was simply an extension of the sword itself. Her speed and strange aim at the opponent taking the stance was mostly aimed at his arms and legs, she chose not to aim at any serious areas if he blocked he would have to be quick as she seemingly danced around the man looking to make a cut at any of his ligaments before letting him get a chance to attack. To her it only made sense to try and defeat him but not to kill as that was not her aim she only looked to punish him for such a lazy attempt at the third position and to show others around the squad that it was better to look up to the heroes of the squad rather than get by with minimal effort. "I'm the righteous combatant ready to take flight! Kanae Takada Spinning Cutter!" Strangely naming her attack as she still dashed around Kanae wanted to either make the man fight back and show some spirit or finish him quick with all the powerful finishers she had in her repertoire.

Toshiros stomach growled as he entered his stance. It seemed that the milk he drank this morning was in fact out of date. His eyes remained focused on his comrade, she mocked him a little but he couldn’t quite concentrate because of the pain in his stomach. To some, he would have looked worried while to others he would have seemed scared. His attire gently blew in the breeze as he focused on the situation at hand, the girl thanked the captain for refereeing while Toshiro simply watched her movements. He had been filling out paper work all day so it was nice to have a bit of a change in routine; he didn’t want to lose his position and thus aimed to do all in his power to succeed.
The crowds gathered, a lot of them pushed against the wooden railings while the rather chubby ones attempted to peak around the rest. Toshiros breathing began to regulate, his state of mind began to change, his eyes began to focus while his blade moved inward toward his chest. As his blade moved, the sound of metal rattling echoed into the area. It was soon followed by complete silence at which point the challenger, Kanae began counting out loud with every toss of her Zanpakutō. Every time she threw the blade up she counted down, from three to one, prior to springing to action.
She was pretty rash, something that Toshiro noticed about this division, everyone was too damn rash. As the girl launched into action, she unsheathed her Zanpakutō and began charging toward Toshiro. He seemed calm and collective; his whole body seemed relaxed and ready. The pain in his stomach was suppressed by the sudden ascension of adrenaline levels within the blood stream; it helped keep him calm but in effect allowed him to take significant note of Kanaes movement. Her speed was on par with Toshiros but it didn’t worry him.
To begin with, the girls blade moved toward Toshiros arms but was met by the solid wooden sheath of his; then the blade began moving toward his legs where he jumped up and noticed the girls rather feminine movement. She was circling him and there wasn’t much he could do. Afar, the squad members began to mock the 3rd Seat as he could hardly fend for himself. His cheeks turned red in embarrassment as she moved and re-attempted her combination; each time he aimed to block or evade until he thought of something…
After the arrival of another attack, Toshiro dug the tip of his Zanpakutō into the ground around him, at first she swung for the legs and then moved for the arms. Meanwhile, as the girl attacked, Toshiro muttered to himself, “Those who would destroy me will find no purchase, and those who corrupt shall be denied!” black aura began coating Toshiros palm as he met the incoming blade. His hand slammed shut around the middle of the blade while blood began trickling down from his hand. In the same moment that his palm caught the Zanpakutō, a single finger extended from the hand that held the sheath to his blade; “Pierce their soul and tear their flesh.” were the only words that were to be heard in the courtyard.
Suddenly, from the top of his extended finger shot forth a 44 caliber bullet from of Reishi; its aim was to strike the shoulder joint of his opponent and make it hard for her to use her Zanpakutō. Toshiro wasn’t much of a ladies man, he didn’t know how to tend to one and didn’t know how to fight with one either; the piercing shot would most likely pass through the flesh upon contact and damage the joint to an extent. With his own attack out of the way, Toshiro released his grip on the opponents Zanpakutō and clenched his own prior to slipping it out of the ground and vanishing. Within seconds he created a gap between himself at the opponent, the instant he re-appeared three more shots of the condensed Reishi began flying toward his opponent. The first shot of the trio would most likely be the strongest of the trio, from there onward the strength of each one would begin to decrease…
Toshiro stood there, he felt bad as all that was on his mind was whether he hurt her or not. He stood there patiently, awaiting to see the results of his rash actions while indulging on the striking pain from the palm of his hand. It made it hard for him to hold his Zanpakutō as when pressure was applied, it bled and hurt. He swallowed the moisture that had built up over the past minute, it tasted rather sower but refreshing. His right foot began moving back as he returned to his stance and braced himself for a potential counter attack…

It seemed that the other Shinigami was on edge, he seemed to look rather pale, even more so than she had expected was he ill? What sort of 3rd seat does not look after themselves! Kanae seemed a bit peeved at the man's rather unbecoming actions, he looked as if the words of the others around him were getting to him at first. As she made her attack she noted that the 3rd seat's skill allowed him to block her attacks, it had seemed that his power was a little more than she actually gave him credit for he may have seemed lazy but he could at least defend himself. "Oh you got good reflexes Shiro-san, you seem a bit stiff though." Kanae noted that the Shinigami seemed to have a style more based on defense and taking a stance, she had never found such forms useful fluid and striking was always the girl's style. As she tried to push forward some more the other Shinigami seemed to be struck with inspiration. As she made her way to cut into his arm Toshiro would grab onto the blade and grip it tightly as if to defend by taking the hit head on. "Oh such evil energy could you have a demon in your hand?!" The exaggerated feelings of the girl were poised at the glowing blackness coming from her opponents hand.
As he began to recite off some chant the girl began to pull quite childishly at her sword making herself look quite silly. "Hey! What kinda person grabs onto a sword anyways! That's more than a heroic sacrifice!" In the position she was in Kanae only noted the strange black energy shooting at her in a moments notice before she was about to be hit by it. With no time left she moved away pulling her sword from the grasp of the other Shinigami. As she turned the bullet's target shifted from deep into her shoulder and was left grazing her instead. However the force behind the attack cause her to spin quite recklessly out of control. As she moved in a comical manner the girl's eyes seemed to spiral as she tried to grab some bearing. "Ahhhhhh~ I-i see-e you k-k-know how to dance then S-hiro--sa-n..." The girl was quite unaware of the three bullets coming towards her, it seemed that she was going to be hit but her luck and unusual position let her move past the first bullet, falling to the ground as she did. Getting up once more the last two bullets would graze her as she moved back into their line of fire falling back accidentally one grazed her inner thigh while the other hit her arm once more. "Owwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!" She fell for another time looking at her enemy with eyes still spiraling however with a serious look. "A hero doesn-'t use a projectile un-less the enemy has one to retort w-w-with...." Her view of the battle seemed to focused on the bizarre idea of hero worship still but her damage seemed superficial perhaps except for the dizziness she was feeling.
Getting back up Kanae still had little balance, but this seemed to leave her opponent in a worse position as she moved in a bizarre manner towards him, shifting left and right until she was in range of him she stepped off one foot and launched her sword upwards towards the other Spirit. The attack would be sudden and would be continued as she almost fell over herself pivoting to strike downwards onto Toshiro after her previous shot. Finishing her move she stuck her leg down once again stopping in the direction of the other Spirit and launching her leg she had in the air into the direction of the stomach of the Shinigami. "Killing-- M-ove.... Dizz--y D---ance K-ki-ck!" While the move was not nearly as classy as any of her other movements where it still had quite a danger as it reached closer to Toshiro's body...

The girl was lucky to say the least. She spun around like a headless chicken and yet took hardly any damage. The three attacks simply grazed her and she was still on the offensive. Toshiro could feel his legs trembling as she began heading toward him, it wasn’t out of worry, more out of excess levels of adrenaline. He braced himself, his eyes following her swift movements while the rest of the squad remained on their toes. He didn’t really know why he was given the position of third seated, there were people within the squad who were far stronger than him and yet he was the one to assume the position. To him, it seemed that someone had trusted him and he wasn’t about to throw that trust away by losing to a fellow comrade. Toshiro had no effective passive abilities that could really aid him in combat, he was specialized in Kido and Zanjutsu, and he noticed that combining the two together really made him formidable.
His black hair began moving along with his body, the instant the girl swung her Zanpakutō down on him, he moved back; because of his stance, it was rather easy for him to take a steady step back. Meanwhile, as he stepped back his Zanpakutō ascended and clashed with the incoming blade, thus far he hadn’t listened to the girls remarks as he found it rather hard to concentrate as it was. As the blades collided, sparks began flying into the surroundings, Toshiros Zanpakutō dropped back to waist level within the instant that the opponent’s blade moved away. His eyes watched her unique fighting style, he attempted to discern her weaknesses.
As she moved her blade back and began attacking with the kick, Toshiro released grip of his Zanpakutō and sheath prior to crossing his arms over his chest and receiving the impact of the kick. Luckily, he didn’t feel any of the air escaping his lungs, though his arms felt rather sore. The kick knocked him back a few steps and created a rather big distance between him and the Zanpakutō. The blade of the Zanpakutō clapped against the ground as it collided with the dusty surface. The squad members look out in shock and some even began laughing. “You’re not too bad Kanae. But I apologize for this…”
As he spoke, blue outline began forming around his body. This was something that Toshiro classed as passive; it was the only technique that he managed to attain from the sealed state of the Zanpakutō. It boosted speed, reaction speed, thinking and acting speed. Toshiro thought of it as a gift and not ability; as the blue outline formed dust began swerving around his body until he edged forward. The moment his body edged forward he vanished, somewhat faster than before, his shunpo was amplified and then he appeared before his opponent. His right finger reaching out to her chest while blue energy resonated from it, “Hadō 4, Byakurai” at such close quarters, a miracle would have to save the girl.
His finger pointed beneath her collar bone, in the general vicinity of the lungs. The blue energy shot out in a condensed ray of electrifying blue reishi. It was a dangerous technique, one that stronger members of the Gotei used to impale their opponents and bright fights to an end. If it hit, it would be devastating for the girl as it would begin with the flesh and later pierce all the way through to the other end. If it was to piece through, it’d keep moving until it struck the far wall of the courtyard. The girl would have to remain perfectly still if it did hit, as it could cause similar damage to other areas of the body if she was to move; it was hard to contain one’s self when struck with this technique as the innate instincts of the body aim to respond to pain and suppress it.
It was all a matter of time…

It seemed that the offensive was still her's Kanae enjoyed that she was in the driver seat at the moment. As her eyes began to stop spinning ever so slightly she would note that her opponent was looking for any signs of a misstep in her style or something that he could make disadvantageous for her. However this was his own misstep Kanae's form and style were nonexistent, such things were not needed for her. She would make up names for attack and fight with little care for her own well-being, that was a hero's job after all. However as she saw her kick land into the man he did well to guard and protect himself from the majority of damage to his organs. However his Zanpakutō dropped as he moved back to consolidate the damage. Some of the squad seemed to note it as a turning point however for Kanae it was important to not look like she was kick someone while they were down. "Hey don't let go of your sword! How are we suppose to clash with metal and will if you don't have any metal!" The lecture seemed half a tantrum with the way it was said however Kanae wanted the Shinigami to be at his best and not defenseless as she tried to attack him.
It seemed though, that Toshiro was apparently anything but helpless. He began to commit a spell once more seemingly looking to finish the girl with nothing more than one shot. This however would be difficult as he would note too late that she was running towards him to whack him on the head for losing his sword as he shunpoed towards her she would land quicker into his hand than he wished. Seeing he was trying to poke her for some reason Kanae took her leg and kicked his attack upwards quickly but not enough to save her from damage. The blast would meet its way with her head... The arc however was not lethal luckily instead it cut through her forehead to the point of drawing blood. Arcing backwards for a moment the girl would hold herself up with a strange push and pull system of jumping off her feet. Arcing forward she put her blade up in a stance akin to a noble samurai with a look of feigned cool seriousness all the while blood dripped from her head avoiding her eyes luckily and making its way down her nose. "Interesting... But there is no time for tag right now get your head in this!" With the last few words her more carefree speech returned again.
Not only that but her blade would look to find itself in proximity of his chest. She had looked not to attack him in such a manner before but truly the fighting had grown so desperate that she would need to release more aggressive finishing moves to stop her rival from hurting himself and others with his lack-a-daisy way of leadership within his rank. "Finishing Move! Giga Break Slashing!" The attack was not much more than a more forceful slash into the abdomen of Toshiro however for Kanae she expected that he would not be able to make a move. Moreover when and if the attack hit the bleeding from the wound would be hard to staunch due to her blade's strange effect on people. Perhaps it was akin to her justice or maybe it was a more barbaric way of 'bleeding the evil out' but it was okay so long as he was in the Seireitei and with such a good finish it would be likely that the Shinigami would have to recognize the her heroic exploits.
