Itching for a fight [Kyouhai, Fight Night 2013]
Sat Aug 24, 2013 1:59 am
The young looking woman walked through the seireitei, looking agitated about something. If one knew her well enough, it was obvious why she was looking like that. Today she was wearing a shihaksho, the official uniform of the shinigami. It was a plain, standard shihaksho, the kind she hated. Wrapped around her neck, the only remnant of her old outfit, was a red silk scarf, fluttering in the breeze. Her blonde hair flowed gracefully in the wind as her green eyes stared grumpily out at the world. On her waist sat not just one sword, but two, both identical in shape, size, and looks. Looking up, she saw that she had arrived at the entrance to the seventh squad. A grin slowly spread across her face, and she walked in , standing in the courtyard as she drew both blades. Calling out to them, she smiled maliciously.
“Alright maggots, listen up! I’ve been itching to let my blades out on someone for a while now, and I’ve decided your squad would be a great place to start! So, whose up for losing some blood, whose first? I hope you’re not a bunch of weaklings, or are you all going to run and hide like a bunch of cowards? Come on, I’m not even a seated member, what’s there to be afraid of? I just want to give you a taste of… death!”
She started laughing, a soft giggle as she smiled menacingly out at the members around at the time. Swinging her blade up, a blast of pressurized air surged forth from her blade towards a group of shinigami, probably blasting them in to a wall if someone didn’t stop it.
“So… who’s first?”

Kyouhai Harukaze Suzumori
Kyouhai was sitting in the 7th Division barracks, hanging out for however long he ended up getting a break from his duties. It probably wouldn't be long, he knew, before one of his superiors came in and gave him some pointless, menial job or other. It sometimes annoyed Kyouhai to be bossed around by these men, the Seated Officers, when he could kill most of them in a single moment of anger at a moment's notice. Kyouhai was more powerful than most of his division's Seated Officers, but he hid his power since he didn't see himself fit for a position of leadership. Kyouhai often thought about changing this, however. Being bossed around by people he saw as weaklings was starting to really get on Kyouhai's nerves. "Maybe I should go take a Captain's exam or something... I'm getting sick of listening to weak people, and--" thought Kyouhai. He trailed off, however, as he felt something strange at that moment.
Kyouhai could feel a Reiatsu that he'd never felt before heading at a steady pace toward the 7th Division's barracks. It seemed as if whoever this was was either a new recruit or a Shinigami from another Division passing by. Kyouhai was about to ignore this new Reiatsu and go back to thinking, but then something else strange happened. The doors of the barracks crashed open, slamming against the stone walls that supported them. Moments later, the source of the new Reiatsu walked into the barracks. This being appeared to be a woman with blond hair and green eyes. She also seemed to be a Shinigami, but Kyouhai wasn't really sure since appearance meant nothing in the world of spirits. The only important thing in terms of physical appearances that mattered at the moment was that the being was holding two un-sheathed swords. She obviously wasn't here for peaceful reasons.
Kyouhai's earlier thought was only confirmed when the woman yelled out a challenge to the Shinigami in the barracks. After she finished challenging the members of 7th Division, the woman swung her blade, releasing what appeared to be a blast of compressed air that knocked several Shinigami near Kyouhai against the barracks' stone wall, momentarily stunning them. The woman then spoke again, asking who wanted to fight her first. Without saying anything yet, Kyouhai stood up. He walked forward, quickly but cautiously, until he was about 25 feet from the woman. Kyouhai then reached back, drawing out his golden nodachi Zanpaku-to and holding it in front of him in a two-handed grip, with the dangerous edge of the razor-sharp weapon's blade facing the woman.
"I will be first." said Kyouhai in an emotionless voice. He was beginning to transfer into a personality state that people mostly only saw him in during battle. This was not a personality state that you wanted to see Kyouhai in. Now, anyhow, the 1,400 year old Shinigami continued to speak. "I will be first, but I will also be last. I'm afraid I can't allow you to harm innocent members of the Gotei 13 or the Seiretei." said Kyouhai. "You know, I like to know who I'm killing. What is your name? As you should like to know the name of your killer, I'll tell you that I am Kyouhai Harukaze Suzumori, obviously of the 7th Division." said Kyouhai. As he spoke, a strange, lime-green, mist-like energy seemed to be coming off of Kyouhai's body and sword. Kyouhai became tense, ready to attack or defend at an instant's notice as he readied himself for the imminent battle."

Crouching low, a wide smile spread across Jessy’s as she drew her second blade from its sheath, now wielding both her weapons. Flashing stepping forward, she swung both her weapons upward in a diagonal across her challenger’s chest in an ‘X’ shape. Jumping backwards, her eyes zoomed over the crowd as she answered the man’s question.
“Jessy Nessa, squad six.”
With that she pushed forward again, stabbing towards his chest with both her swords, keeping them about an inch apart as she did. She followed up this attack with a kick to the stomach, pulling her blades back and pushing herself away from the man at the same time. Finally, she swept her sword up, letting forth a gust of pressurized air, trying to push her opponent against the wall.
“Well, that was a nice warmup, wasn’t it? Time to fight for real though. Slash out, Incisorius Tigre.”
Her swords began to transform, becoming leather gauntlets, steel protective plates on the back of them. From the steel plates came metal claws, three of them on each gauntlet, made of some strange black metal. Each claw extended eight inches from her fist, eight inches of deadly metal. She giggled, lowering herself on to all fours as she watched him.
“Time to let the cat out of the bag, playtime is over.”
With that she pushed forward, traveling at the speed of a shunpo, but without using shunpo at all. This was her normal speed like this, moving in a straight line towards a spot right behind Kyou, and a bit to his left. Planting her right foot, she let the force of her movement swivel her around. Her body turned one hundred and eighty degrees, ending up right behind the man’s back as her claws lashed out, attempting to slice up his leg muscles.

Kyouhai Harukaze Suzumori
Kyouhai didn't even get an answer to his first question before the fight started. Kyouhai wasn't really expecting his opponent to be so un-civil as to attack before answering his question, and that was why he ended up being hurt so early on in the confrontation. The blond-haired woman had used Shunpo, propelling herself forward and attacking Kyouhai before he was able to properly react. Just by instinct, however, Kyouhai flinched backward, at the moment his opponent used her Shunpo, causing him to get a slightly shallower wound from the X-shaped slash across his chest made by his opponent. Quickly taking a look at his wound, Kyouhai saw that it wasn't incapacitating. It wasn't that bad or deep, and the bleeding looked as if it would stop in 5 to 10 minutes.
Even as Kyouhai analyzed the severity of his wound, the woman he was supposed to be fighting answered his earlier question. She told Kyouhai that she was Jessy Nessa, from the 6th Division. With that, she launched her next attack. She came forward stabbing at Kyouhai with her swords and aiming to kick him in the chest at the same time. Now ready for battle, Kyouhai slashed with his Zanpaku-to, blocking the sword strike, but not the kick. The kick struck him in the stomach with enough force to make breathing painful for the next few seconds, even as it knocked him off balance. As if that wasn't bad enough, Kyouhai's opponent stuck him with a wave of compressed air, knocking him against the wall. Kyouhai stood up quickly, coughing as his breathing returned slowly to normal as he did so.
Luckily, no more attacks were currently being launched in Kyouhai's direction, at least for now. Unfortunately, that was when the Shinigami who called herself Jessy decided to perform what looked like a Shikai release. She seemed to get some sort of claws on her hands. Kyouhai could see that each one was 6 to 8 inches long and looked as if they were made of metal. Then, the woman got on all fours, like some sort of animal as she ran forward to attack Kyouhai. She was traveling incredibly fast. Kyouhai knew that he had about half a second to react before his leg muscles were torn from the bones, and so he did the only thing he could think of. Kyouhai slashed down with his wide-bladed Zanpaku-to, forming a barrier between himself and the metal claws at the last instant. It was time to do something now.
Kyouhai didn't like fighting, but it was one thing that he took very seriously. He wasn't going to hold back now that he'd been attacked. Kyouhai slashed outward with his Zanpaku-to, aiming for his opponent's arms. With such a large and heavy weapon as his, Kyouhai knew that a successful strike would probably cut his opponent's arms off above the elbows, or, at the very least, sever the tendons and render them useless. In the same motion, Kyouhai jumped back, putting a good 15 feet between him and his opponent. It was time to do some releasing of his own. A blaze of flame-like lime-green energy flared up around Kyouhai as he called out "Wash away all opposition in the unstoppable golden tide, Kyokuryuu!!" . Kuouhai's Zanpaku-to changed entirely. Instead of a sword, he now had two leaf-shaped, golden blades strapped to his wrist. Each one was two feet in length. They appeared to be strapped to Kyouhai's wrists with bands of lightning.
Kyouhai prepared to fight again, but he had a question first. "Well, what is the meaning of this? Don't you know this is treason against the Gotei 13?!?" asked Kyouhai. He wanted to determine a motive for this before he just attacked a fellow Shinigami. Kyouhai was careful, however, to keep himself ready to fight even as he waited for an answer to his question.

Jessy smiled as he managed to stop her claws from slashing in to his legs. It really was starting to get fun, and she loved this. Seeing his blade coming down towards her hands, she flash stepped away barely in time to stop her hands from getting removed from her arms, ending up ten feet away from the man. Then her opponent jumped back, putting more space between them and releasing his shikai as well. Today was starting to be an interesting day after all, this man definitely was a strong opponent. When she heard his question, she smirked. It was silly, there was only one reason she would be doing this, and that was her reason. “Aw, what’s wrong? Are you that scared that you’re trying to make me back down? Naw, I just need to let out a bit of steam, bad week and all. What’s wrong with playing with yah though, I’m just here having a little fun, playing a little game. Though I guess killing you would be a bad thing, now wouldn’t it?” She giggled, her eyes flickering around before she charged forward. It was obvious that her shikai had made her faster than before, doubling her natural speed even without being on all fours. Halfway to him she slashed her gauntlet horizontally in front of her. A highly focused arc of pressurized air shot forth from her, heading towards Kyou and the squad building behind him. Once she was close enough, she stabbed both her gauntlets towards her opponent’s chest, and as she did so two white furred tails burst forth from the ground, attempting to wind around his legs in order to entangle him there for the next fifteen seconds. Pulling back, she attempted to get about ten feet between her and her opponent, seeing how he would react to these attacks. |

Kyouhai Harukaze Suzumori
Kyouhai was not very surprised when his initial attack, the slash toward his opponent's arms, failed. Kyouhai could tell that his opponent definitely had some fighting experience, with a fearless and vicious attitude to back it up. Not the most useful information, but it did help somewhat to have a general idea of your opponent's fighting style. What did surprise Kyouhai was the woman's answer to his question. From Kyouhai's past experience, most people accused of being a traitor to the Gotei 13 would do one of three things. They would break down, confess, and beg for mercy, they would deny the accusation, or they would admit to treason but still defiantly carry out the offense. This woman, however, saw Kyouhai's question/accusation as a ruse to make her stop fighting. She claimed to 'just want to blow off steam'. Whatever the reason for this, Kyouhai knew, it was still reason. He was going to try to apprehend this woman, he finally decided.
But now was no time for thinking of future actions. If he wanted to have a chance at getting through this with relatively little damage, Kyouhai was going to need to focus on just the present. Even as she had finished speaking, Kyouhai's opponent had prepared another attack. She had begun to charge Kyouhai again, obviously an offensive move. Kyouhai knew that he was going to have to defend before he could carry out any of his Shikai's dangerous and interesting electric attacks. Suddenly, the woman released another blast of compressed air. This hit Kyouhai, sending him flying through the air, straight into a stone wall. A moment later, Kyouhai became aware of two things. One: he was about to be stabbed with metal claws. Two: furry tails were about to bind him in place and make him an easier target for the metal claws in the future. Kyouhai, analyzing his situation quickly, decided that he did not want to be bound. He elected to avoid the tails and take whatever damage the claws might cause.
Kyouhai slashed diagonally down with his large, heavy Zanpaku-to. With gravity to aid it, the weapon easily cut through the tails that had sprouted out of the ground, putting an end to the attempted binding. At the same moment, Kyouhai felt pain as several black, razor-sharp metal claws stabbed a good three inches into his chest. Reflexively, Kyouhai pulled back, the claws sliding out of the wounds they had made. Streams of blood flowed forth, but these quickly changed to drips. Kyouhai was relieved to see this, as it meant that, though the wounds were deep, they would not immediately be a life-threatening issue. Looking up, he saw that his opponent was now ten feet away. Feeling the anger and pain going through him, he decided that it was now time to truly fight. Kyouhai jumped forward, going instantly into a Shunpo. He covered the 10 feet between him in his opponent in a little over a second. Sweeping his left wrist forward, Kyouhai made a slash with the attached blade. It would cause a deep, diagonal wound across the opponent's chest if it succeeded. No matter if this succeed or not, Kyouhai would follow it up by yelling out "Bakudo number 62: Hyapporankan!!" . This would send several rods of pale purple/blue energy towards the woman, binding her to the nearest wall if it hit. Kyouhai then jumped back about a meter to see what would happen next.

Jessy blinked as the man chose to destroy the tails instead of blocking her attacks. She didn’t understand why the man chose to do so, but oh well. It was his choice after all. However, this did mean the three claws on that gauntlet had managed to pierce in to him, going about two or three inches deep before he managed to pull away. Once she had moved away her opponent flash stepped forward, seeming to get serious now. The man made to slash across her chest with his own zanpaktou, forcing Jessy on to the defensive. She leaned backwards slightly, raising her right handed gauntlet in an attempt to catch hid weapon on the back of her gauntlet, where the protective metal plates were. However, her reactions had been a bit slow, and the opponent’s blade managed to nip her shoulder before Jessy could push it away. Stumbling back, she noticed the words the opponent was chanting. A Kidō, and a binding one at that. She couldn’t let herself be caught in that, and she had a plan for that. Letting herself fall to all fours, she pushed off, moving towards his left side on all fours at the speed of a flash step. However, this wasn’t a flash step or any other type of step at all, it was pure movement speed, and with it she had managed to completely avoid the rods of energy that soured past where she was before. Once behind him she planted her right foot, her momentum causing her to pivot one hundred and eighty degrees on it as her claws came out from both sides, attempting to cut at the back of his legs in a horizontal motion. At most three of her claws would slice in to each legs, as each gauntlet was only aimed to hit one leg. With that she turned, using a flash step this time in order to shoot off to the side, putting twenty feet of distance between them this time. Panting, she watched as her gauntlets dissipated, as if evaporating in to a cloud of mist before solidifying in to a spear in her hands. Seven feet total in length, the spear head itself was half a foot in length. The head shaped like a tooth, a white tuft of fur was attached to the opposite end of the shaft. Whirling it around a bit, she smiled, a smirk towards her opponent. With that she slammed the spear head in to the ground, watching as four burning log chunks appeared in front of her. The flames were enveloping a black piece of a tree, creating a circle, six inches in diameter, of flames. After a split second, they flew off towards Kyouhai, constantly trying to crash in to him. If they managed to crash in to him, they would explode in a fiery blast about as damaging as a Sōkatsui cast by someone of her tier and advance in Kidō. “Time to feel the sweltering heat of summer.” |

Kyouhai Harukaze Suzumori
Kyouhai felt a little bit of satisfaction as his blade cut maybe an inch into his opponent's shoulder, drawing a tiny amount of blood. A few drops of this blood dripped off the edge of the golden blade attached to his left wrist, hitting the tiled floor of the 7th Division barracks. Kyouhai got maybe two or three seconds of rest before he had to be right back at it again. His opponent was, if nothing else, persistent and good ad jumping around, inflicting damage while not taking much herself. Kyouhai saw this type of fighting as cowardly, instead thinking that one should go all out with no regard for personal safety. However, as a result of this mentality, Kyouhai's wounds were more severe than his opponent's.
At any rate, Kyouhai's Bakudo had failed, and his opponent was coming at him, trying to rip his legs up again. This attack really annoyed Kyouhai because it was very difficult to parry due to its target location, and very hard to dodge due to its speed. As it was now, Kyouhai had just enough time to stab down into the floor with both blades of his Shikai, forming a golden barrier in front of his legs. However, his timing and positioning had been a little off. Kyouhai felt a line of pain ripping through his right leg as one metal claw hit its target. Even as Kyouhai pulled up his weapons, his opponent used Shunpo, backing up 10 feet in an instant. "What the hell is going on here? I don't even know who this is, and her fighting style makes no sense..." thought a very confused Kyouhai.
Even as Kyouhai had been thinking, his opponent's weapon changed form. Her claws dissipated, turning into a spear. The weapon was seven feet in length, six inches of this being taken by the spear-head. Was this a Bankai release? Probably not, as it didn't have the same sort of Reiatsu burst usually associated with a Bankai release. Anyhow, the spear seemed to be able to do some very dangerous things. Kyouhai's opponent stabbed it into the ground, causing six burning chunks of wood to surround Kyouhai. The flames then blasted out from the wood, trying to hit Kyouhai. He knew there was no hope in avoiding all of the flames. Because of this, Kyouhai decided to stop just those in front of him. "Bakudo number 39: Enkousen!!" yelled Kyouhai. He set up a pale purple, oval-shaped shield just a split second before white flames struck his sides and back, also cracking his Kidō shield. Kyouhai was angry now, as the burns from the enemy's flames were quite painful. It was time for him to make his attack...
Kyouhai knew that he was going to need to charge his weapon up before he could release one of its attacks. However, he was going to need a sort of distraction before he could begin doing this. Kyouhai wasn't very good with Kidō, but he was going to pull off a somewhat dangerous Hadō now in order to give his opponent something to think about while he prepared his attack. Kyouhai burst forward with Shunpo, coming just two feet from her. Holding out his hand, Kyouhai said in a voice just loud enough to be heard "Hadō number 54: Haien." . This sent a curved blast of purple energy toward his opponent, even as Kyouhai himself jumped back. He knew that Haien could do a great deal of damage if it hit, meaning that his opponent would certainly try to stop it. Kyouhai began to charge the golden blade on his right wrist with electricity, preparing his next strike.

Jessy smiled at the fact that one of the claws had managed to rip in to his leg, she hoped it would impair his ability to move about but she wasn’t sure it would. When the man tried to defend from the four flaming wood chunks, she was surprised that he decided to block one with a Kidō and let the other three hit him. She didn’t care much though, he had his own choices to make, didn’t he? However, her eyes widened at the sound of his next Kidō, a Hadō 54. That was a pretty powerful Kidō, and she had seen what devastation Kidō could cause if used by someone who was strong enough. Thinking rapidly, she charged towards the Kidō, her speed obviously slower than in her previous shikai state. The boost of speed was a benefit of spring after all, not summer. As she neared it, she slammed the spear head in to the ground, attempting to use the spear to vault over the incoming Kidō. However, her timing had not been perfect, and on her descent the Kidō slammed in to the spear dislodging it from the ground and throwing her against the ground nearby. Somewhat dazed by the force that had thrown her to the ground, she used the spear to steady herself as she attempted to slowly raise herself in to a standing position. She looked around, her eyes flickering over everything, trying to lock on to the man she was fighting but this was not possible. “Damn it… damn… damn…. I thought I could do better than that…” She muttered to herself, her breathing heavy as she leaned on her spear, struggling to keep herself on her feet. Her eyes burned with passion though, allowing everybody to know she wanted to continue despite her physical limitations. |
