Personality: As a child, Marik was an innocent boy who desired to see the outside world, despite his clan's laws forbid him from doing so, and was willing to sneak out to fulfill his desire. He cared for his siblings very much. Marik also considered Odion to be his brother, despite being not blood related.

Marik bore a grudge towards the pharaoh because he was forced to guard with his life (robbing him of his freedom) the family carving. Marik's hatred only intensified when his father forced him to take the family's ritual of having the carvings cut onto his back. The pain was so intense that he spawned a second personality to deal with the pain. A year later, when his father brutally tortured Odion for helping Marik and Ishizu to sneak outside, Marik woke up and had no recollection of his father's murder only to see a loyalist to the Pharaoh and thought the loyalist was the killer, and thus leading to Marik's betrayal to the clan to get revenge against the Pharaoh.

Brief History: Marik's family guarded the tomb of the pharaoh for generations and two of the Sacred Items (the Millennium Rod and Millennium Necklace) were passed on to Marik and his sister Ishizu Ishtar. Marik was forbidden to leave the Pharaoh's tomb due to his father's fear that the freedom and marvels of the outside world would further divert Marik's attention away from his heritage. Marik no longer wanted to become a Tombkeeper, so his adoptive brother Odion Ishtar asked if he could take Marik's place but was refused. When Marik was forced to take the initiation ritual to become a full Tombkeeper, Marik spawned a second personality from the pain he endured. A year later, after Marik and Ishizu took a forbidden trip to surface, Marik's father, having found out, attempted to kill Odion. Marik somehow blanked out what happened next: Yami Marik (the evil personality of Marik) emerged for the first time to resist his father's punishment and claimed the Millennium Rod for himself. Ignoring his father's orders to put the item down, Yami Marik used its powers to smash him against the wall. When Ishizu protested, she suffered the same strike. Yami Marik then proceeded to kill his father. Yami Marik was sealed away in Marik's body by Odion. Those events were decades ago, the record books it was stated because that Marik was mummfied because of a deadly disease that ravaged his body.

A deadly demon wanted to control the Scared Items known as Kade Hiroshima which meant reviving Marik from his sacred tomb. Kade heard about the legends about whoever obtained these items to actually rule the world. Kade had revived Marik from the tomb but the first thing was destroying this evil Yami Marik which wasn't a problem using his magic. Marik was a mummy because Kade couldn't revive him completely but the man knew what Kade wanted and the mummy refused and savagely attacked Kade. Kade ecsaped but Marik Anubis was once again among the living but this evil demon known as Kade Hiroshima had to be stopped. Marik met up with Craig as the Urban Viper as the superhero was trying to save some children from hollows. Marik tried to help against these monsters the mummy gained the upper hand against the hollows quickly because of years of superhuman strength within the bandages. Craig was impress of the way Anubis handle the situation as Marik told him of what happen about the demon who revived him and that he had to be stopped before he gets his hands on the pharaoh's sacred items

Basic Powers: Deacde Enhanced Strength:Because of the ancient bandages, Marik possesses a remarkable amount of superhuman strength for a human. He was capable of lifting a steel beam that had fallen on him with little effort. He can effortlessly throw another person a half a block away with only one arm. Marik was able to battle a Hollow with his bare fists and is strong enough to break a telephone pole and swing it like a bat. He has also show enough skill to aid himself in a safe descent to the ground when falling from high above with tremendous force.

Enhanced Speed: Mairk's speed is above that of a average human being. The recent furtherance of Marik's powers seem to augment his natural agility to the point where his reaction time became sufficient enough to anticipate high-speed attacks and counter them.

Pyramid Hammer of Skaar: Because of his servitude, Marik was given ancient powers to wield powerful weapons most of his weapons are gone. Except one, pharaoh gave it to him on his birthday an golden pyramid hammer which helps him bash enemies to the ground which also can send shockwaves to the ground when thrust to the ground.
