A Sunlit Picnic Empty A Sunlit Picnic

Track 01 : Tsukihime EVER AFTER OST

Ah, ever since she had left that dungeon she had felt a great appreciation for the warmth of the sun upon her back. Stepping through the openings between trees, Hana felt herself skipping between patches of sunlight with a soft smile upon her face; a smile that was only accentuated by the brightness of that which sat up within the distant blue. However much she loved the sunlight back home, this sun would always be far superior in her opinion. The warmth felt real, tangible and precious to her. Even the seedlings that sprung near her feet--a sign of her always-active power--would turn towards the sun at any chance they got; so you could almost say that she had an affinity towards this great warm orb.

In her right hand was a basket with wondrous scents emanating from within--the scents of freshly-baked bread, delicious delicatessen meat and vegetables purchased fresh from stores right here on Earth. She had made sure to do this when she arrived, so that she could sample that which came from Earth while she was here--she didn't know how often she'd get this chance, so Hana Leonhardt decided to relish it as much as she could, while she could. She skipped along a path through the forest, looking for a place that she could seat herself and delve into the food in her hand--maybe she'd even manage to make a new friend while doing so? Strangers bothered her in large groups, but if there was a chance that she could meet someone new, one-on-one, it could always happen. Of course, there was the chance that anyone that came knocking on her door would be there for less-than-happy reasons. If that were the case, she would certainly have no choice but to take up arms and fight back.

As she stepped through the various sun-lit patches upon the ground, she found herself approaching a small clearing, in the middle of the woods. This clearing was beautifully-lit, with a large stump in its centre and no apparent threats nearby. With a soft smile from ear-to-ear, the youthful Leonhardt Magus placed the basket upon the stump and turned around, feeling a breeze through her white summer dress. "Ahhh..." She really did love the sun on the real world. It felt so much less artificial, and so much more energizing.

She turned back to her basket and opened up the top, rummaging through in order to search for something to nibble upon. Producing a loaf of sliced bread and some ham steak, Hana quickly and carefully prepared a small sandwich and turned back, sitting down with her back against the stump and basket, eating away slowly at the delicious meal. The bread was soft and fresh; the meat tender and juicy. The combination was delicious--and the youth felt calm.

Blue green eyes lazily drifted open. His frame was slouched on the rock, a rock that he had last seen her wild fire hair, her gentle face. These thoughts, drifted as soon as he was aware of them however. They reached to somewhere he couldn't feel, and he let out a sigh. This place was just as empty as he was feeling, as his legs pushed him to his feet. He needed to move; his stomach was grumbling, and starving would only put him off much longer. How long had he waited? He wasn't sure, but moving the green hair out of his face, he'd understand that the wild strands were like his dedication; untameable, and utter ridiculous sometimes. The male let out a yawn, before his steps began to move him forward. He needed food; he wanted to be by her side, but even loyalty had it's limits. His heart was hers in a sense; she would always have his loyalty. But he knew that even dogs sought new masters when they could no longer remain, and some did die of loneliness. True loyalty was even in one's heart, to keep believing. That's what he believed that the dogs that left their old masters for new ones, would do. The truth of the world in such a manner made him sad in a way; but his face was cold, apathetic. Disinterested in the beauty around him, or ever. It was the way he had chosen to live; he understood that something terrifying was inside, but even his kindness seemed like arrogance to others. That was not the case; he only wanted the best he could for everyone. But even then, that was tainted by the shades that people choose to see.

His steps led him soon enough to a clearing. He was startled, letting a bit of his eyes widen. His self-control kept the beast locked up, as his gaze aimed to look at the sky; so bright, and beautiful and even warm. Did that make the scene in front of him anymore unreal? Not very much so. In fact, he had a hard time believing what he saw. Long strands that passed the stump; a basket on it with food inside of it. Was someone asleep there? The male approached with a quiet step; but he would make it obvious for anyone awake. another considerate kindness that only he would give. But the tandems of a white dress; his mind flashed to her. She was gone, wasn't she? A small sadness remained still, but his mind cast it aside. Finally making his way around, he'd be presented with a beautiful girl, almost child like in appearance, slender and the immediate thought he had, was that she was a kind girl. A kind, but troubled girl; there was the lines of worry in the depths of her entrancing eyes. He didn't want to speak a word, but he would have to. ''What are you doing here?'' were the first things out of his mouth. He understood that was rude, but at the same time? He didn't feel like conserving niceties. It wasn't him; he would get to the point. So did this girl even know how dangerous these woods were? That was his mind wandering question, but it fluttered back into the blank space of nothingness as well. Milostrad knew one thing however; that this girl, he would protect until she left the forest at the least. Perhaps more then that, since there was a single feeling to her, a strange one.

He couldn't place it, but it felt familiar.

-Doctor Kabuto Hebi: Undertaker-
"Why hello, lady and gentleman~"

A voice said simply, as out of nowhere a man emerged out of the ground, literally rising up through it as if it were water. One hand was on his mouth, obviously holding back a giggle. He was a strange man, to be sure. His hair was gray, hanging over one of his eyes. The other side was concealed by his hair as well, shadows seeming unnaturally long. Finally, atop his head lay a black hat, a strange black piece of fabric going down from the top of it, a small spider skittering along a web attached to it. His clothing was a simple black cloak that covered his body, although it lacked a hood.

His face was smiling in an unnatural way, obvious as he lowered the hand. "It's funny..." He muttered, chuckling softly as he saw the piece of meat that the girl was eating. "That animal once feasted on the flesh of a human when a man died in her trough... Hehe... Hehe..." He muttered simply, his eyes still not able to be seen whatsoever. "Can you not see, good sir~? She is having a picnic, and I must say that the meat, like all things have died... Although the fate of those slaughtered for food is probably the most humorous ~" His voice let out, smiling as he looked at the girl, or did so behind his bangs at least. "Yes, I suppose that some sapphire would make you feel fantastic, would it not~?" For a funeral arrangement, that is... He thought, snickering to himself even further. He bore no will ill towards the girl; but it was a habit of his to imagine everyone, and that means EVERYONE, he met in their coffins.

After all, the world was so unpredictable...

And that's what made it so funny~
