Gin Ichimaru

Age: Unknown, looks like he is in his mid 20's.

Personality: Gin is one of the most mysterious Shinigami in the series, since his almost constant smile and slitted eyes, combined with his heavy use of sarcasm and mocking politeness, make it very difficult to discern his thoughts. Many find his demeanor and appearance rather unsettling and there are very few who were willing to trust him even before he was revealed as a traitor. Gin seems to be fully aware of the effect he has on others and more than once has been seen toying with people's emotional states for his own amusement. Both Rukia Kuchiki and Wonderweiss Margera have shown to be rather frightened of him, Rukia noting to herself that she felt like she was being strangled by snakes whenever he spoke, even if he was not speaking to her directly. In the anime, Gin speaks with a distinct Kyoto dialect, which is polite but indirect. His English dubbed voice is also formal and polite, but with a rather mocking and facetious undertone.

Ever since he was a child, dried persimmons have been his absolute favorite food. Gin planted and raised many persimmon trees around the 3rd division offices, and makes the dried persimmons himself, then distributes them to other divisions. Once he wound up eating a dried sweet potato, thinking, "Oh, it's a dried persimmon!" and he hated it. When he has free time, Captain Ichimaru goes on walks around Seireitei. Although his hobby is people-watching, it seems like he is possibly hunting around and searching for an opportunity to create mischief with some poor victim. The gentlemen of the 3rd Division are contrary, and they have the kind of attitude that enjoys that mean-spiritedness. He also has incredible skill at needle threading.

Gin is fairly ordinary in terms of clothing, and doesn't wear any unique items. His overall appearance, however, is not as normal. He keeps his eyes constantly narrowed to slits (earning him the nickname "fox-face"), rarely ever opening his eyes. Although he appears to be an early to mid twenty-year-old person, he is unusually thin and tall with very sharp features giving him a skeletal appearance. He bears unusual silver hair which has a purple tint to it in the anime (his name refers to his hair color; gin [銀] is Japanese for silver). He also keeps his face set in a wide mocking smile, which he only wipes off on rare occasions of annoyance, surprise, confusion, or even sadness.

In Hueco Mundo, his outfit, like Aizen's and Tōsen's, has been modified since the three abandoned Soul Society. He now wears a long, white robe over his normal Shinigami hakama. The hilt of his Zanpakutō is visible sticking out from under the robe through the opening down to his waist. Later Gin is seen wearing a white hakama like the Arrancar, instead of the black ones he was last seen in. Gin wears his robe open in a narrow 'V' down to his waist, closed to below the hips, and then open again to the hem, which falls about mid-calf. His robe has long bell sleeves, into which he hides his hands like one does with kimono sleeves. The lining of the robe and edges or layers of the under-robe(s) appear to be black. From other examples, it is likely he is also wearing black tabi with white waraji. His Zanpakutō is not visible with this outfit.

Zanpakutô Spirit: N/A

Sealed Zanpakutô : It looks like an ordinary wakizashi. The hilt is light-blue with a tsuba made of two slim swirls of metal looping around the blade to make an open oval, resembling an "S".

Shikai Description: In its Shikai, Shinsō's blade glows white and extends at high speed to impale Gin's opponents from a distance. Shinsō is capable of reaching a maximum length equivalent to one hundred times its original length, earning it the nickname "Hyapponzashi" when Gin was younger.

Shikai Abilities: The blade carries tremendous force when extending, as seen when Gin pushes both Ichigo Kurosaki and the giant Jidanbō out from under the Seireitei gate, despite the latter being firmly braced under it. In addition, Gin can maintain the extension and swing the activated Shinsō in wide arcs, attacking multiple targets quickly and simultaneously.

Bankai Description: In its Bankai state, Gin's Zanpakutō does not change in appearance at all, retaining its small wakizashi form. However, as Kamishini no Yari, the blade is capable of reaching lengths equivalent to 13 kilometers (roughly 8.1 miles) at 500 times the speed of sound. The blade can also retract to its normal size at the same rate.

Bankai Abilities: Gin's Bankai essentially possesses the exact same abilities as his Shikai, but its power, length and speed are vastly amplified. The blade's tremendous cutting power is significantly increased, to the point where Gin is capable of swiftly cutting an entire town in half with a single stroke while standing a great distance away.
Hypersonic Blade Extension and Contraction: The deadliest aspect of Kamishini no Yari is not within its destructive potential, great length, or wide sweeping range, but rather within the speed with which it can extend and contract its blade. Gin's Bankai can achieve its full length at 500 times the speed of sound: exactly 171,500 meters per second in order to arrive at its full length of 13km in under 0.08 seconds, which makes Kamishini no Yari not the longest Zanpakutō, but the fastest. Because the blade's extension and contraction speed is his Bankai's greatest ability, Gin tends to downplay its speed whenever he talks about his Zanpakutō, and instead focuses on the length and range of the blade in order to gain a psychological advantage over his opponent.
Butō (舞踏, Dancing Step): By adopting a stance where he firmly grips Kamishini no Yari with both hands and places the Zanpakutō's hilt squarely to the center of his chest, Gin is able to unleash the tremendous extension and contraction properties of his Bankai to an even more terrifying extent than its normal state. This occurs in the form of a piercing maneuver where the extension and contraction of the blade becomes almost completely-unseen to even the most-diligent of observers.
Butō: Renjin (舞踏連刃, Dancing Step: Serial Blade): This ability repeats the action of extending and subsequently contracting Kamishini no Yari, as observed within the technique Butō, multiple times in rapid succession. The entirety of this process is completed in a mere moment, resulting in the individual steps involved in this technique becoming virtually indistinguishable from each other, generating an apparent mass of numerous blades that leaves little opportunity for the intended victim to evade successfully.

History/Background: Not much is known about Gin's early history, except that he once saved 10th Division Lieutenant Rangiku Matsumoto's life when they were younger, as she was on the brink of starvation. He told her that if she had collapsed due to hunger, she must have spiritual energy. She recognizes that he must have spiritual energy as well, as Gin introduced himself.

Shortly after, while eating, Gin asked Rangiku when her birthday was and she replied she didn't know as she never really counted days until she met him. Gin then told her that from then on, the day that they met would be her birthday. They have been friends since and joined the Shinō Academy together. Since then, Matsumoto has been one of the few people Gin seems to truly care for.
Approximately 110 years ago Gin graduated from the Academy after just one year, and was given a seated position in the 5th Division. When he met Aizen for the first time he already killed the 3rd seat of the 5th Division, referring to him as worthless. Aizen immediately gave him the 3rd seat of the Division after the incident, which they both kept secret.

9 years later Gin is shown to be involved in Aizen's plot and assisting him in the Hollowfication of high ranking Shinigami. He is present at the Hollowfication of the investigation team sent by Captain-Commander Yamamoto. He watched the conversation between Shinji Hirako and Aizen. He didn't seem surprised at the arrival of captains Kisuke Urahara and Tessai Tsukabishi. Aizen proceeded to leave the scene of the crime with his henchmen, stating that "there's nothing more to do there". To stop them from retreating, Tessai performed Hadō #88, Hiryugekizokushintenraiho against them, only to be countered by Aizen using Bakudō #81, Danku, enabling their escape.

Sometime later, Gin served as the lieutenant of the 5th Division under Captain Sōsuke Aizen. Aizen and Gin saved the surviving young recruits of the Shinigami Academy - Momo Hinamori, Izuru Kira, and Renji Abarai, who were out on a field exercise, from a group of huge Hollows. Kira would later become the Lieutenant of the 3rd Division under Gin

Gin eventually became the captain of the 3rd Division around the same time that Byakuya Kuchiki became captain of the 6th Division (less than 49 years ago). Gin however, even as a captain of his own division, was still a loyal subordinate to Aizen.

At some point during their captaincy, Aizen, Gin and Tōsen secretly visited Baraggan Luisenbarn, the King of Hueco Mundo and Lord of Las Noches. Aizen and Baraggan engaged in a light conversation as Gin and Tōsen looked on. Aizen then released his Shikai and showed Baraggan the decimation of his army by the two other captains.

In his fight against Ichigo Kurosaki, Gin quickly got the upper hand, as the tremendously strong Aizen obliterated the Vizards fighting spirit. However, after Yamamotos Death and Ichigos defeat, the Senkaimon Gate opened... and the 0 Division attacked. Fighting against Aizen in a large-scale battle in his new, long-haired form, Ichigo and Gin actually stopped fighting, and just watched. As the 0 and Aizen nearly had the same strength, Aizen was severly wounded, but the Zero Division could not finish him off. This was, when suddenly, a helping hand got Ichigo up on his feet - Gin Ichimaru himself. Just one look of Gins open eyes and Ichigos eyes, before both jumped forward. Unleashing their finishing blows, the two killed Aizen with their last remaining powers, ending the war of the Hongyoku forever by destroying it in their attack.
After that last combination move, Gin Ichimaru suddenly vanished. Nobody could find him - not Soul Society, not the left Espada. It was as if he simply disappeared out of reality, and during the wars of Ender, Nero and Kin, not a single sign of him was to be seen.
This could change soon, however. Apparently, Gin Ichimaru is back from his self-imposed exile. But on which side is he?

Here is a RP sample of me using Gin.

All around Karakura, there was war and chaos. The noise of the smell of blood that complimented the occasion placed Gin in a easy mood, half of the killing has been done and little was needed from him other than a swift 'sweep' to discard the remaining unfriendly's. Gun used a Shunpo to travel just over the wide area of destruction caused by the two Captains and the Espada standing below. The battlefield has gotten out of the set parameter, that was obvious with how much destruction lied in the horizon, but then again the souls occupying Karakura town were off in another space; stuck there until the Kido experts at Soul society decided it was safe enough to bring them back; this would mean that Soul society would have to clean up this mess after they were finished with the Espada, but Gin had other plans. As he hovered high above the Captains who had yet to notice him; The Espada, Zzerro Reiannzzo, had just got his arm cut off and was being over whelmed by these Captains who hadn't even unleashed their Bankai. Gin Drew his blade and Just as They charged for another Clash, Gin brought back both his arm and his Sword and then thrust it forward with the tip aiming at the Arrancar; The blade extended and within seconds it pierced the chest of the Espada and then the Chest of the captain parallel to the Espada in the clash with him. As they were pierced; the other shinigami lept back and Gasped; He was indeed surprised by this and was amazed that it was his comrade and not him that got skewered by the blade. Gin then twisted the blade so that it's edge aimed at the sky and raised it up so that the two were sliced from their chest up; their upper bodies were cut in half. Gin's Zanpakutou then retracted to it's original size and Gin finally made his appearance apparent to those who haven't noticed the source of the bloody introduction.

"One down" He said landing gracefully on his feet. He implied that though he killed both people, that his target was really just one of them. That alerted the Captain before him that he was not the sentimental type. The Captain regained his composure even though his ally just fell before his eyes, much expected of a Captain Gin thought; then he took a professional pffensive stance, Gin had his blade drawn too, and didn't really think that he had to resort to using Shinso again if his opponent was to come at him; but his opponent didn't and instead shouted "BAN-KAI!", Gin awaited to see what appearance his Zanpakutou would take and it was one of a massive size, as expected of a Bankai. It was a Large wolfen animal that stood on it's hind legs and had several arms, each with Zanpakutou's in them. the wolfen creature had a veil of fire surrounding it's torso and let out a roar that let Gin know of his bloodlust. Gin was aware that this would be trouble some for a mere Shikai to handle; and that if he would try and play tit for tat with this guy close range then he would undoubtedly lose his life to the fire of the Wolfs veil, it was a feature of the creature that the Captain tried to keep secret but there was absolutely nothing secret about it.

Gin lifted up his Blade with his right arm and aimed it at the Captain, then slightly and slowly twirled it, "Oooh, Scary scary, your creature may just finish this in one blow" Gin said before drawing his arm back once more and saying "Ban-Kai" and allowing his blade to Grow over 25 feet and bring down over the head of the wolfen creature; as soon as the Captain tried blocking, Gin retracted the blade quickly and used a Shunpo to appear on the side of the Captain, with his snake like expression stamped on his face as usual, The swung his blade aiming it for the midsection and the Captain was caught off guard. The captain tried moving his blade to stop it completely but only prevented Gin from cutting his entire blade into his midsection; But Gin had planned this ahead of time and aimed his blade, while clashed with the Captains, at the head of the Beast behind him then he allowed Shinso to Extend once more and pierce it; once the beast was hit under his chin; gin swung the Blade back so that he would get out of the stalemate with the Captain and decapitate the Wolf behind him. Once he did; the Captains head came off too. That was usual with beasts as Zanpakutou's who moved in sync with the Captain. Gin had sheathed his blade and then looked around as the headless captain fell face first to the ground. Gin sensed the flux in spirit pressure almost everywhere as if the tide of battle was about to change with simultaneous Releases, Gin started walking towards the area where the shinigami's reiatsu fluxed wildly, he was going to sit in the shadows with his reiatsu masked until he saw an opportunity to strike.
