The Lily and the Two Roses [PRIVATE]
Sat Sep 22, 2012 11:37 am
Kayneth Archibald El-Melloi |
"Lancer. This is a political operation. We're in the safest part of the West, the Capitol. There's no need for you to be so vigilant. There aren't even street crimes through here! Especially since a block over is the Clock Tower. Though, you being so worried for my safety is flattering and commendable." |
Kayneth loved praising his hometown. He knew the smells of the high-finance district by heart, especially the loving scent of the hourly street cleaning. There was no trash, nothing of that sort strewn about. The cobblestone path to the main castle was always well-kept, and evenmoreso when someone like Kayneth was coming to town. He could see the ever-so-familiar clock in the massive tower to his right, symbolizing his old workplace. But ahead of him was the massive castle of the West's government. If there was one thing Kayneth loved to praise more than his hometown, it was his himself. Diarmuid's vigilance over Kayneth made him more at ease, but that's only because he knew he was being flattered. Well, not so much as felt. Though, if Kayneth "felt" something, he thought it was true. And it was also praising to Diarmuid, as Kayneth felt he would be one who would stop at nothing to stop an attacker. And so, that's why Kayneth chose Diarmuid and only Diarmuid for his security detail. The stone drawbridge extended over the gorge that separated the castle from the rest of the world. Of course, it would not mean anything if there were not ways to prevent flying. And thus, the gravity of the gorge to the highest limits of the skies was increased many thousands of times over. It was the result of magecraft seals that Kayneth had personally designed. Yes, it was made a fortress by Kayneth and Kayneth alone. This was more praise for him, and his satisfaction within himself grew as he crossed the bridge. Standing in front of the door, a young... man or woman, Kayneth could not tell, bowed towards him. The person had blonde hair and wore a suit whose cost rivalled Kayneth's own coat. They opened their eyes, revealing green orbs which could make most males and females swoon. And Kayneth knew exactly who it was the moment he examined the coat more. On the left-hand side of the collar under the suit, a one-wing eagle stood proudly. This was the mark of the West's Royal Family, the Leonhardts. |
"It is my pleasure to meet you, Miss Viviana Leonhardt. I am Kayneth Archibald el-Melloi, titles include Lord el-Melloi and Advisor for the Eastern Sugiura's Queen, Misaiko Sugiura." |
Kayneth also bowed slightly. She was above him. He knew that, and he respected that. They were a family of knights who had ruled since before his time. Their blood was pure. In fact, Kayneth claimed that his family had served as retainers for the Leonhardts before, but he could not back the claims up. It's not like people didn't believe Lord el-Melloi's word on that matter. To do so would mean earning his ire. You did not want Kayneth's ire against you. Kayneth then motioned for Diarmuid to step forward, as he was about to introduce him. |
"I hope you do not mind that I brought along my own protection. He will have to accompany me as long as I am not inside a meeting room." |
VIVIANA LEONHARDT ___________________________________ Duchess of the Lily |
"I wonder what he's like." |
Viviana Leonhardt had heard the stories of Kayneth Archibald el-Melloid, but she had not met him yet. She had heard stories on how he had once won fifty women's hearts in a single day, only to turn them all down. Another story she had heard was about how he once defeated two hundred other Magi in a tournament. She expected him to be a young man, very handsome and powerful. She carefully pulled the red suit's coat over her white undershirt. She wore a bra a few sizes too small to make sure her breasts did not show, though she didn't have much of a bosom. Viviana's tiny hands buttoned all four of the golden buttons on her jacket as she pulled out the green jeweled cravat pin. Much like an emerald, the green gem sparkled. It was one of a kind, found deep within the North. She adjusted the cuffs on her jacket, buttoning them as she saw fit. For the final step in preparation, Viviana tied her hair back. With her hair back, she could easily pass as a male. This was her main trait, which she both coveted and abhored. She stood tall and cleared her throat. She sounded so much like her sister Arturia that you could tell they were siblings. Of course, you'd have to know their gender to determine if they were brother-sister, sister-sister, or brother-brother. The official "greeter" of the Leonhardt family had to meet the advisor, who spoke on behalf of the East's Queen who could not travel as much as she wanted (or needed) to, exceptionally early. He would arrive an hour in advance, just to see the sights apparently. And so, Viviana had to be there two hours early. To be honest, Viviana was nervous. No, there was no word that could describe how much her knees were shaking inside. However, she had to keep up a good composure in front of Kayneth. The stronger she appeared, the more respect she would recieve and the more lenient Kayneth would be on whatever deal was going to be discussed. Viviana tried not to think "What would Arturia do?" for this. It was hard, but she needed to act on what she felt was right. Thankfully, she wasn't the one meeting with Kayneth, just greeting him. The hallways grew taller and taller, and she felt smaller and smaller. And then, the large stone doors that led to the outside bridge opened. She cleared her throat and stepped into the shaded awning. Thankfully, it wasn't a hot day. She waited for an hour and a half for Kayneth. She stood there, waiting on the Advisor to arrive. She had to stand still. She could not fidget, as doing so would show weakness, and she had no idea how Kayneth would show up. And then, he appeared over the horizon. A man in a blue coat with blond hair... with someone behind him. The masculine figure behind Kayneth appeared to be carrying two... sticks. They could be lances, but she could not tell from the distance. It took the two a few minutes to reach the bridge. In that time, Viviana could make more and more out about the figure behind Kayneth. He wore a green jumpsuit that was more akin to armor than spandex. And his two sticks were indeed lances, wound in purple cloth. However, it was not his two lances that caught her eye. He was beautiful. Not Kayneth, the guy behind him. Kayneth was a bit older than the stories told, but he was still good-looking, just not Viviana's type. But the guy behind him. He was stunning. His slightly-tanned skin and black hair made him all the more gorgeous. And it was all Viviana could do to not look at the mole under his eye. She avoided blushing, and bowed to Kayneth to break her eye contact. He introduced himself, which confirmed her knowledge on him (except for how old he looked). |
"You would be correct, Lord el-Melloi. I am Viviana Leonhardt, and I am to guide you to your meeting today." |
Kayneth motioned for the knight behind him to step up, asking if it were okay that he had brought him. Actually, it wasn't him asking if it were okay. It was him telling her it was okay. Viviana could not say it wasn't, as that would stop the meeting right then and there. Viviana nodded to him affirming that she understood. She then waited on the knight to introduce himself. She needed to know his name. |
