The Holy Grail War
The War of the Holy Grail (聖杯戦争, Seihai Sensō?) is the competition that decides the ownership of the Grail through intense battle royale carried out through a Servant-Master system. A Servant is a Heroic Spirit, which are beings that accomplished great achievements such as saving the world and, after their death, became the object of worship and lore. Note that despite the origins of the term, they are not bound to the common understanding of the word “hero”, thus even Heroic Spirits of evil alignment exist. Servants are Heroic Spirits summoned by the Holy Grail.Because summoning even one heroic spirit is a miraculous occurence, summoning seven in their pure forms would be beyond the Holy Grail's power. Heroic Spirits can be summoned into any "class" that reflects the abilities, mindsets, or weapons they had in life. The seven standard classes are Saber, Lancer, Archer, Rider, Caster, Assassin, and Berserker.
Now, why have I given you a brief explanation of the Holy Grail War?
Simple!
I want you to come up with a so-called "perfect matchup" for the Grail War. This means, I want you to come up with a person from legends, history, and mythology that fits each class. This means you will have 7 people, each one corresponding to a class. Give a brief (2-3 sentences) explanation of why the person is suited for that class and why you'd want them.
Rules:
- Sorry guys, but you can't use any Servant already summoned in any Type-Moon or Type-Moon sanctioned work.
- Those MENTIONED but not summoned are capable of being used.
- People can be used multiple times, so don't fret if someone takes your idea!
- The people used MUST have died before 1912.
- There are no prizes, this is simply for fun!

*points at her Kiyoraka's NASU project*
I think I did good with Morrigan as Caster. >w>
I was working on others, as you are probably aware of my little project over there XD
So if anyone was interested in making this in-rp, we certainly could in a way. xD!

Well I actually meant for you to name all of the Heroic Spirits in their class, like so:
Saber: Charlemagne. (This guy has a sword almost as legendary as Excalibur. It is rumored to have part of the Lance of Longinus in its pommel.)
Archer: Richard J. Gatling. (HELLO. INVENTER OF THE GATLING GUN. WHY SHOULD HE NOT BE SUMMONED?)
Lancer: Zhang Fei. (He was Liu Bei's Calvary General, and apparently served under Liu Bei as a great soldier. Lancer because he has a named spear.)
Rider: Hannibal. (He led an army of war elephants. He's also a great strategist.)
Caster: François Prelati (He helped Gilles de Rais make a contract with a demon. Hell, Gilles's Noble Phantasm is his spellbook.)
Assassin: Sarutobi Sasuke. (Sasuke is commonly listed as the member/leader of Sanada Ten Braves, a group of ten ninja that supposedly assisted the warlord Sanada Yukimura at the battles of Osaka Castle during the final phases of the Japanese civil war, and he is by far the best known and most popular among them.)
Berserker: Elizabeth Báthory (Not many actual female Heroic Spirits are mentioned, but she'd be my pick for Berserker. Although the number of murders is debated, she has been labeled the most prolific female serial killer in history and is remembered as the "Blood Countess.")

Oh. DEN GIMME A MINUTE.
Caster: Solomon. (Reputed to have written the Book of Solomon, and thus more or less developed witchcraft and such rituals. Rife of mythology concerning demons, angels and magic in general, makes him a good choice for this.)
Lancer: Lugh. (haha more Irish lancers xD! He was also champion of the gods for one, and secundo, he has a spear with his name on it. It actually looks as if he has several incarnations/legends about his spear, which could make his NP actually pretty flexible.)
Saber: Huang Tuah (magical sword? Check. History of combat? Check. He's actually pretty nifty, and out of an origin that seems to be.. well unique. Malay mang. It'd be interesting to say the least.)
Archer: William Tell (he popularized the entire shooting the apple off one's head pre-cursor. That meant this guy had some good skills with the bow, regardless.)
Rider: Kay Kāvus (dude build a magical flying THRONE. Pretty sure he understands how to make stuff work, particularly to ride and what not. But whatever there is is sort of obscure enough to allow a bit of twinking or so.)
Assassin: Catherine the Great (not necessarily a low profiled candidate, but she did have to ''plot'' to get to the throne. I think she'd make a great assassin, considering it's Russia for one, and second, she did hold the throne for a long time where women weren't necessarily equal.)
Berserker: Attila the Hun (.. self evident, I guess? XD!)

Alright, time for me to make my Servant list
Saber: Richard I of England, a.k.a. Richard the Lionheart (Arguably the most famous and well known of all the English Kings, not only is he still one of the most popular, but he also led the Third Crusade to capture the Holy Land from Saladin, an event that is still remembered even today.)
Archer: John Henry "Doc" Holliday (Yes, probably the most famous of the old west cowboys to have ever lived, "Doc Holliday" has been a household name and story ever since his death in 1887. What makes him most famous? Obviously his friendship with Wyatt Earp and the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral. While famous during life, this dentist/gambler/gunfighter became a true legend after his death as evidenced by his impact upon the stories of the Wild West.)
Lancer: Saint Longinus (Well, not to borrow from Tsu, but this is the name of the soldier who pierced the side of Jesus with his spear. So yeah, that makes his spear the Holy Lance, also known as Spear of Destiny, Holy Spear, Lance of Longinus, Spear of Longinus or Spear of Christ. Though his name is not given in the Gospel of John, it is found in one of the gospels excluded from the bible. It took me a while to think of this one, but in the end, the spear that pierced Jesus is probably the most famous "weapon" in Christian history.)
Rider: Edward Teach a.k.a. Blackbeard (Now this one should be obvious; Blackbeard, the most famous pirate. Hell, when you hear the word "pirate", if Blackbeard's name is not the first thing that comes to mind, then there is something wrong with you. And, as for his "steed"? Well, that would, of course, be his flagship, the Queen Anne's Revenge. What more is there to say? No pirate is more well known than Blackbeard.)
Caster: Cleopatra VII Philopator a.k.a Cleopatra (This is another obvious one; Cleopatra, the most famous and arguably powerful female in history. Her beauty legendary, she used it to secure her rule as well as to bend many powerful men of her time to her will, including Mark Antony and even Julius Caesar. As for her Noble Phantasm, basically what makes her a Caster, well, that should be obvious as well; her beauty.)
Assassin: Marcus Julius Brutus (It took me a while to come up with the right assassin for this role, but in the end, Brutus is the only one for me. Though not the only one to carry out the assassination, Brutus was the main conspirator. Their victim, of course, was Julius Caesar, one of the most famous assassinations in history, and his role was only made worse by the fact that he was Caesar's close friend. Not to mention, it spawned one of the most famous lines ever; “Et tu, Brute?”. As Caesar's final words, Brutus was pinned with the assassination, and went down in history as one of the most famous assassins.)
Berserker: Samson/Sampson (And finally, the Berserker; Samson. Granted supernatural strength by God, his "heroic" feats include wrestling a lion, slaying an entire army with only the jawbone of an ass, and destroying a pagan temple. So, while he definitely meets the requirements for the strength of this class, the merit for his "Blind Rage" can be found in the rage of his younger years and in his downfall. While many stipulations were given to Samson's parents for him to keep his strength granted by God, the one that would be his undoing would be that "he was never to cut or shave his hair". And, his ultimate downfall, came via Delilah, the woman he loved. So yeah, after not only losing his strength but being betrayed by the woman he loved, I'd wager to say that he fits the bill for the "Blind Rage" as well.)
Saber: Richard I of England, a.k.a. Richard the Lionheart (Arguably the most famous and well known of all the English Kings, not only is he still one of the most popular, but he also led the Third Crusade to capture the Holy Land from Saladin, an event that is still remembered even today.)

Saber: Hrólf Kraki (This man was a powerful and famous Danish King in a few folk stories; the sword that he wielded, Skofnung, was said to be supernaturally sharp, and hold the power of his 12 Berskerer (as in Vikings) bodyguards.)
Archer: Arjuna (Renowned as being one of the greatest archers in the world, he was given the name Jishnu, or the Undefeated, and his bow known as Gandeeva was said to be just as famous as the hero himself.)
Lancer: Tadakatsu Honda (A legendary and powerful daimyo from Japanese history, his polearm was said to be able cut a dragonfly in half from just having it land upon the edge.)
Rider: Māui (The man who supposedly fished up New Zealand itself and was able to slow the sun to make the days the length that they are, his Noble Phantasm would be the South Island itself; the Canoe that he rode and fished this land up from)
Caster: Pandora (Although she herself isn't much of a mage, she possesses a powerful and magical box that holds all the evils of the world, and is able to loose it upon her enemies. Doesn't quite fit the Vengeful Spirit class of Servant, though she is more known for her innocently evil deeds.)
Assassin: Sun Wukong (The infamous Monkey King, his main weapon was a staff that could go from the size of a tiny needle, into a great pillar. His greatest strengths were in hand-to-hand combat.)
Berserker: Ajax the Greater (Although he didn't go mad until very late in his life, he did go mad. This behemoth of a man thought that he should receive the armor of Achilles, which was to be awarded to the greatest of Greek heroes. When it was awarded to Oddyseus, he went crazy and tried to kill his comrades. Athena intervened and made him think that cattle were his comrades, and he killed the herd before killing himself.)
