My own next question; why are the Sugiura so incest?

A very good question!

In the beginning, there were only two Sugiura: the twin sisters Dechtere and Shimura. Because they were mutants, essentially, they were shunned. Those that did decide to 'love' them were used over and over until they couldn't be used anymore. Eventually, the two's growing clan needed more Sugiura, and the Shinigami-Sugiura breeding creating Sugiura wasn't assured, thus Shimura and Dechtere's children were force to breed with their own brothers, sisters, cousins, etc. That's why and how!

Fun Fact: Dechtere and Gilgamesh were the original founders of the Western Sugiura.
