Reasons For Upgrading: Well, he IS Nnoitra Gilga, so this upgrade makes sense for him. He specializes in both Hierro and general Durability and overall physical strength, which explains why he was a match for Zaraki Kenpachi in their battle. Though he is known to boast, he said he had the most powerful Hierro of all the Espada (the Espada in canon, that is), though it makes sense since the other Espada were cut more easily than Nnoitra was. He was also able to toss Ichigo around as though he was a ragdoll, and also took a direct blow from Nelliel's (previous 3rd Espada) most powerful attack, which did barely any damage to him as he was able to walk away from it and fight Kenpachi as though he had never been hit. Nnoitra even took a direct hit from Chad's strongest attack with seemingly no damage taken, proving his resilience.
