PERSONALITY
In many ways, his character could be compared to Byakuya very much. Saito considers life to be 'wasteful' without something passionate in your way. If you're going to continue life, you may as well have something you love and find something that is worth fighting and dying for. He see's life as a massive opportunity to achieve true peace, to learn what it means to be human and to be that of his species of Shinigami. In short, when it comes to Saito, he is a real peace loving man who has a sole focus of being at bliss with his existence. Peace, to him, is the ultimate prize to strive for and that the people on the opposite spectrum must be eliminated to achieve eternal bliss. It is an interesting concept, however, his mind. While he believes that peace is the only way to truly live your life, not through fighting and death, he will ironically use his master sword skills to strive to fight for a peaceful future. That's what he aims to do with his life, get a peaceful future that does not have chaos or suffering. But peace for all men and races alike. Perhaps, that is too much to ask for in a world such a this; but this is what he aimed for none the less.

Saito can also be considered a very compassionate human being and is passionate about the human condition, he envies them in a way; that a lot of them within this world are so innocent and not prone to all the destruction that has been caused. He envied their way of thinking because he believes bliss can be found in innocence, and to be innocent is that you don't face the problem he currently faces in life as well as other shinigami who do. He is generally calm, he is never hot headed even in the heat of battle and doesn't get angry easily. No matter the situation, he is often found calm and even if it ended up he had to kill someone, he would go about it with no attitude shown, just got the job done and nothing else be said. Saito values life, he hates to kill and also, depdnding on the situation, may refuse an order he was given purely because he hates killing. He is truly envious of the living humans, due to him dying at such a young age and not being able to grow up. Rather, he died young and was pretty much remembering what it meant to live as a human in the world. The whole factor of death, to Saito Hajime, is a complex issue. He does not believe in killing for the fact of fun, or just because they felt like it. No, Saito is a shinigami who values life more than anyone alive today. It seemed like everyone just wanted to kill, just wanted to destroy these days; and he was looking for a way out of it. A way to not kill, a way for him to live in eternal bliss. A false dream, perhaps.

He is very... calm. He tends to find himself in a forest found on the outskirts of Rukongai, a couple miles away from Seireitei. Saito is actually a writer, planning and thinking up ideas for his novel while sleeping and resting under the calm day as the sun pelted through the trees. Saito Hajime prefers quiet more than loud noise, his general attitude makes him seem like a loner. He prefers to be on his own, he see's people as too rough nowadays and doesn't like the whole 'wanting to fight'. He observes humans a lot in his spare time, envying them for not being doomed to the same body for an eternity, to live and breathe the air he once breathed... To watch the world develop as he developed along with it. The whole silent aura that surrounds Saito is his general way of behaving, there is no real reason or horrific past as to why he is like this right now; other than dying at a young age. There's something that's far too weird in a case of his calmness, though. Even when carrying out a killing order, he will often keep his calm attitude then and keep a cool face. But when it goes to sleep at night, most nights he actually can't sleep based on the horrific actions he have performed. He doesn't like to kill people, as stated, and they haunt him in his dreams and for the rest of his life until he can fix what he has done, or justify it to himself.

However, Saito has a liking for sake. Sake is his main drink, he would drink it almost all the time and can be found usually bringing a bottle of it, or small cup, out of nowhere. When it comes to it, however, he will find himself being ready to be able to defend himself at any means. The sake love has been grown since he was a child, some of the people he grew up with were already drinking from such a young age and he was forced into it. In a way, he only drinks it to drown his sorrows or so he can usually get a good nights sleep to avoid all of the daunting noises that surround his head. Another thing among his likes are the simple things in every day life, the chirping of the birds, the calmness of the air blowing through his hair. To him? It's the simple things in life that make life worth living in the end.

BACKGROUND

Saito was born on 14th of March, in the 20th century. He was brought up in a wealthy family the consisted of 5 people, his mother, father, sister and two elder brothers who were all very much famous for being musically talented. Ever since birth, he was seen as the star child. He was always the smart one, ever since being in kinder garden he would out smart the kids, all the way through primary/elementary school and then onto high school. During these times, he had never got anything below an A- level and always achieved his assignments and projects on time or way before time. His family was heavily prideful in what the did, they spent most of their time travelling because of their music career, but Saito was usually left with a baby sitter for a couple of days until they came back. To his advantage, the baby sitter that they had shown was a kendo/sword style teacher. She showed him many things, he was among one of the strongest with a sword in the world for his age. He started using his sword at the age of 4, having a natural talent the baby sitter took him for frequent lessons in order to increase his skill. He would best many people, by reaching 13 he already over threw the teacher that was instructing him at the time, beating him within 5 seconds of the match starting.

With all the new technology moving into place over time, he spent a lot of time practising with the sword. He didn't care for other technology like computer, cars, anything. His main focus was on his way of learning the sword, aiming to become a very highly skilled teacher once he reached his adult days. Saito Hajime had a good life up until this point, nothing bothered him and he could handle himself when it came to a fight in school or with bullies. He was sitting at home, the door began to bang loudly. His parents were over sea's, the baby sitter only there with him. He blinked a few times before jumping up out of his seat and looking around. The banging on the door getting louder and louder until the door came crashing inwards.

As the door flew in, Saito and the baby sitter cowered, they were scared. 3 men walked into their house, machine guns held in their hands as they looked around for anyone in the house. The baby sitter was grasping onto Saito, before suddenly letting go and grabbing her wooden Bokken that was near by, ripping it from it's resting place and aiming to do a massive upper cut to the person chin. Before she could get there, a bullet slammed in her chest, into the left side of her chest, penetrating her breast and slamming into her heart, killing her instantly. The scared Saito wasn't thinking straight, his head running through many possibilities as he watched the blood leak from the dead baby sitters body.

Suddenly, he rushed forward with his katana, Kanji at tremendous speeds. His feet pounded on the ground as he came closer, he drew the blade up, pulling it down onto the man's right shoulder, slashing straight into his body. The man went down, Saito raised the blade to his throat and slit it, the blood spitting out all over the house. The second guy came towards him, bending down, Saito sliced the back of his legs; making him unable to stand. He had him, he was done for; Saito said to himself. As he went to kill the man a single shot was fired, a bullet was sent flying through the air and straight into the back of his head, knocking him straight to the ground. Everything went black, all of his senses totally dimming as his life faded away.

His eyes fluttered, looking around as the singing of birds filled the air. He was wrapped in a kimono, his body held in a now strong state. He sat up, a warm cup of sake by his bed. He took a sip and walked out, seeing a bunch of people wearing black ropes using their katana's in sync, slicing at the command of their instructor. A man with long black hair stepped forward, a whiteish, green haori wrapped around him. His hair was parted by three separate hair pieces, the man reached out and said softly:

"So you've awaken..."

NATURAL POWERS

Unequalled Zanjutsu:
Saito is renown for his amazing swordsmanship, his talent with a blade exceeding that of anyone he knows. His is capable of fast attacks with the swords, long strikes, heavy powers blows that can break a opponent defence, even. He is capable of manipulating a blade almost to any angle, striking from near impossible angles if given the chance. Among all of those in the Gotei and the people he is among there, Saito has always been considered a master of the old-school style of sword play. Not any massive swings that can destroy mountains, no powerful attacks that can break Harlem or destroy cities in a single swing. No, good old fashioned sword play. Due to his amazing calmness, his sword play goes hand in hand with that of his calm attitude and his still hands. His body is always still in combat, as in, not shaking in the slightest for precision cuts and sword strikes. His swordsman ship is nothing outrageously capable of massive destruction, rather, allowing simple battles that can withstand the strikes from other powerful swords rather than shattering under the pressure. For someone such as Saito, his swordsman ship could be compared to someone such as Byakuya Kuchiki or even beyond his sword based combat, who excels in Zanjutsu.

Unmatched speed:
Yet another major part of Saito's arsenal as a shinigami is the intense amount of speed he is capable of using. In this intense speed, he is capable of producing an abundance of different speed based techniques as well as substitute his speed into strength through momentum and different attacks.

Tactics master:
Saito has been known for his amazing perception of battle, thinking up astonishing ways to attack the enemy, new and unique ways of battle and even how to outsmart a over a powerful enemy. He is extremely skilled with tactics, along with his sword also known how to use his surroundings to his advantage. For example, he is capable of creating traps, cutting down pillars to crush an opponent and so forth. When faced against Saito, you have to watch your back or he will definitely think up a way to take you ate. Within these tactics, however, Saito has also been known to utilise his environment around him to his advantage such as setting traps within trees, using camouflage within them and even as far stretched as putting the enemy on edge through sounds and messing with their perception. These tactics, along with his outstanding swordsmanship, makes him a major threat to anyone who wishes to partake in a battle.

Utsusemi:
Utsusemi is a technique which is rather difficult to master, even for a master of speed. Utsusemi involves the user moving at such fast speeds through shunpo that an after image is left behind of Saito. During the shunpo, it is meant to make sure that the opponent cannot notice that their location has changed, rather the enemy staying focused on the after image. The after image may even have appeared to have taken damage if the opponent were to strike it with a slash or any other attack before vanishing into a puff of smoke into the air. Typically, this allows the user to get a new placement on their stance or attack while they believe they have hit the opponent. This is particularly useful if fighting more than one enemy as Saito can get the upper hand with this technique.

ZANPUKTO


Appearance:
Saito's Zanpakutō takes on the appearance of a 41" odachi. The odachi is very strong and light, it is capable of slicing even the toughest of objects in two combined with Saito's actual amazing ability with the sword. The sword is constantly in sealed form, he has never actually learnt or wanted to learn his Zanpakutō's name. The Zanpakutō is purely black, a silver colour splashed over the scabbard every now and then. A woven black strip is spread over the hilt, woven and given a diamond pattern for the handle. The blade is a flashing silver, clean enough so that it can shine the light off it like a mirror. The blade itself is 35 inches long, the hilt of it being 6 inches long.

While his Zanpakutō may have no powers, he carries around a Zanpakutō and a katana with him at all times. He carries around his Zanpakutō as well as this katana which he as named Kanji. Kanji is a mix between white and grey, most of the hilt completely white while parts of it woven with golden and black straps around it. The blade is a extreme white, a chinese symbol written just before the hilt on the scabbard. Designed on the scabbard, there are flames near the bottom, painted white and slightly running up the scabbard, a white cloth also wrapped around it, usually where he carries it on his waist.
