FEATHER'S VS. ARROWS SHOWDOWN
Thu Aug 18, 2011 8:11 pm
Colin spun around, throwing more feathers at the targets. He was working on a new skill, trying to be able to control the feather's individually with his mind. He could control up to 20 so far, but more than that just stopped in the air. He knew that there wasn't much point to this, as he knew that fighting a real battle would be much more effective. He continued for a while, throwing the feathers at a medium speed that could easily catch a shikai less shinigami. He frowned, trying again. He tried to speed them up but only resulted in missing his targets by several inches. He sighed, sitting on the grass.
He was in the attarashi Settlement, a quiet place he had learned about while wondering. He had heard of it but never been. He had come here to think about his new bankai and train it, make it more powerful, so he wouldn't depend only on what Soringuiguru gave him, but make his bankai his own. He had also come here because he had heard rumors about something he was very interested in, but had quickly given up, retreating to the forest to train alone. However, he knew how easily someone could hear his training and feel his reiatsu, as Colin was looking for someone to spar against and improve his strength while fighting. He looked up at the sky above the atarashii settlement, wondering, letting his mind drift, relaxing. He felt his feathers scatter all around him, and wondered what that was about. When he stood up again, they simply reformed his wings. Huh. Learn something new everyday. I wonder if that has to do with an ability or something.
He sat down again, but nothing happened. His mind was full of thoughts, and he was getting a bit frustrated that he couldn't make the feathers fall around him again. If he could get that to work again, he wouldn't need to focus so much on getting the individual feathers to seperate so he could attack with them. He got up again, staring at the targets. Filled with new determination, he fired six of them in a line, and watched, focusing. He heard six "THUNKS" as the feathers hit each other's roots, creating a solid line of whole feathers. Colin smiled, glad at how far he had come. If he hit an enemy with that, it would tear at the same wound many times. He tried again, this time with ten feathers. The first nine hit, but the tenth kind of wobbled and hit a few inches off target. Colin frowned, and continued trying. An hour later, he was dripping with sweat from concentration and was panting, but he could make the tenth feather hit as well. He smiled, turning his bankai off, taking a rest. He fell straight asleep for two hours.
He awoke, sensing a presence. He felt drowsy, but his eyes widened as he felt a power type he hadn't known was around or even could exist here. Is it? Could it possibly be?.. IT, IT IS!! He sat up, suddenly alert. Colin recognized that kind of strange power. It belonged to a quincy. Colin remembered how the quincy's had fought the shinigami, as he had been around when they had nearly gone extinct. He had heard rumors during his travels, but hadn't believed them, thinking that they must have all died out. He stood up, smiling. What an oppurtunity! I hope he is willing to help me. Arrows Vs. Feathers, huh? Colin smiled, building up reiatsu. Once the Quincy, who was homing in on Colin, reached this location, he would release his bankai the moment he appeared. Then he would listen to what the Quincy had to say, and then say:
"Well, my name is Colin Washi, the Eagleman. Former wanderer, Current Leiutenant Colonel of Sector 4 of the Vizard Corps. I personally have absolutely nothing against Quincies, so I would like to make you an offer. I need to improve the power of these feather's on my back, and if you would like to assist me, would you care to spar? Non- death, of course."

Believe nothing, no matter where you read it or who has said it, not even if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.

Colin stared as the owner of the reiatsu suddenly appeared. He could tell this man had many years of experience from the data his eye was sending him. He listened to what the man had to say, taking a defensive stance. His arms rose up, and his wings spread wide upon his back. His feet were planted firmly on the ground, perpendicular and his toes pointed forward. His eyes were straight ahead at the man. Colin's felt bewildered as the man explained himself. Not the best... but what? What does he know? The only way for me to train my feathers is to actually use them! If I don't train in this state, I can hardly train at all, since this state is the only way to train my abilities unique to my bankai. He continued listening, rolling back his shoulders, focusing. So, he wants to fight after all, eh? Well, I shan't disappoint him then! I'll show him what I can do, and have him help me spar and get even further.
Colin stood up straight, putting his feet together, clicking his heels. His arms lay on his side, and his Tilly hat was moving slightly from the small air currents all around them. Colin gave a small hop, flapping his wings once, becoming suspended in the air.
"Well, that's fine by me. My purpose in training in bankai is the same things you said degraded it. I am building my stamina, and the only way I can work on my bankai techniques is to use the bankai itself and train it. If I stay satisfied with just what my spirit gave me, I would be pretty much never progress again, right? However, I suppose I do I agree to your terms. However, this shall be non-death, as I don't see any killing intent in either of us. I can tell you are quite powerful as well. The only point in me sealing my zanpakto if we do battle would be to prolong things and waste both of our times. I won't get much stronger if I don't work on what's available to me."
Then Colin paused for a moment, thinking deeply.
"However, something has just occurred to me. Since you asked, we'll do it your way. What just occurred to me is that it's been a while since I have been able to seriously used my sealed form, so I suppose it will do for now. I'll be giving this my best, and you had better be ready. Also, I don't think I caught your name."
Colin focused, resealing his zanpakto, his feathers all gathering in a loop around him. They spun that way for 3 seconds as Colin focused deeply. Then they poured into his zanpakto sheath, and changed back into his basic katana. He swung it a bit, warming up. He had gotten quite more powerful since his days when he fought Stefan and Akuma, and he swore to himself this time things would be different. He would defeat his opponent with his own two hands, with his own power. His determination caused his sealed reiatsu to explode out a bit, excited to do battle. He looked around at the clearing; glad it was mostly free of trees in the radius Colin expected the battle to take place in.
He slashed his zanpakto up and down again, pointing it at the man. He turned it sideways, looking at his own reflection. He knew that the first part of the fight he would definitely need to focus on high speed and light attack power, enough to counter the many arrows that Quincy’s are able to fire out. He put his weight on the balls of his feet, preparing himself. He ran forward, propelling quite fast, even though he was in his sealed state. He was still visible to the human eye, but he didn't care. Colin was ready to start this battle.
"HERE I COME!!!!"
He swung his zanpakto his right, pushing off on his left foot, dodging to the right as well. He leaned forward, slicing his zanpakto straight into the man's back, trying to slice it. Then Colin pushed down on his knees and feet as he did so, gaining strength. He leapt out, past the Quincy again. He then planted on his right foot and put his weight forward, putting all his strength into a relentless attack. He kept his zanpakto close enough to his own body to stop any moves the Quincy might try to make while still be close enough to strike Colin's foe. He slashed in all directions, up, down, left, right, and crossing in diagonals and in different patterns.
In one particularly nasty attack Colin put his weight on his toes again and swiveled, bringing around his zanpakto into the Quincy at full power, not stopping. Then he stuck his zanpakto into the ground, grabbing it by the hilt. He continued to spin around on the zanpakto, kicking out with his legs. When he stopped, he pulled out his zanpakto and flew out towards the Quincy, his feet aimed at the man's chest. Colin pulled in his feet and stuck his zanpakto straightforward, trying to stab. He feinted, abandoning the stab and slashing down instead into the ground again. He pushed back, getting some distance.
He began his next attack by pointing his left palm at the Quincy. He twirled on his feet, moving his body in small circles but not spinning around. He began muttering two different incantations, placing more power in his palm. He had been collecting hi energy the whole time he had been attacking into that hand. Then he suddenly began spinning in a circle. He held his zanpakto straight up in the air in front of him in his right hand that wasn't pointed at the Quincy. During the first rotation he cried:
"FIRE ONE! HADO NUMBER 32, OKASEN!!!"
As Colin completed the rotation from his hand fired a great yellow arc of reiatsu, in a flame-like shape. Colin continued spinning, and this time during his rotation he cried:
"FIRE TWO! HADO NUMBER 33, SOKATSUI!!!"
Colin stopped dead as he completed his rotation, firing straight dead ahead at his target. From his palm this time flew a great burst of blue flame reiatsu, not as wide as Hado 32 but definitely more potent. He stopped, panting a little. He pondered about his chain of attacks for a moment. Been a while since I've seriously used my sealed. It's interesting to see what I can do with it now. Considering what I've done recently, though, it isn't too surprising. Colin ended the attack by holding his sword out in front of him, the tip at his eye level, one foot back. Most of his weight was on that back foot, ready to react. His hands were level with his waist, both of them gripping his zanpakto. He was sweating a bit as well. Yes, this is most definitely great exercise. It's been too long since I have enjoyed the simple thrill of the fight. He held his defensive stance, focused on what the Quincy would do.

Colin was impressed by appollo's use of his handguard, and felt a bit of how strong the quincy was behind the blocks. Colin when spun in circles, the sole arrow missed his nose by inches. He had felt his blood chilling a bit, because no one like's being that close to extreme pain. When he saw that Appolo stopped his flame attacks he tightened his defense, realizing he would need to be fast. He waited, pushing his weight back. As the first arrows flew he kept his eyes stuck to Appolo, tracking his energy when he used the platforms.
As the first few arrows flew Colin began moving, grabbing the reverse-edge of his zanpakto with his other hand. He put reiatsu into it, deflecting the arrows as they reached him. He sidestepped as he did so, trying to dodge more. He blocked 7 with his blade and dodged 9 this way, but 3 got through and cut him. One got him on his left shoulder, creating a small cut. The other brushed his right leg, and he felt more pain from a cut there. The last one went right past his face, and he felt pain on his right cheek.
Colin rushed out, slapping the ground with his feet, leaping at the quincy. He used flash step, appearing right in front of the quincy, his sword flashing upwards. If it hit, it would likely leave a sliced open hole where the quincy's stomach used to be. Then Colin, having seen the quincy before, followed his travel with his cybernetic eye. He kept up with flash-step, going where the quincy would try to dodge. He stabbed with his zanpakto, then tried to grab the man's clothing so he could not simply disapear again. Colin smiled, trying to hold his right hand, the one not on the quincy's clothing, right in front of the quincy's face. Colin released the quincy as he cried an incantation. Then:
"Take this! Hado number 32, Okasen!!"
From Colin's palm fired an arc of flame, wide enough so that the quincy would be able to dodge, but still be hit at least a bit by it. Then Colin leapt back, deciding to use his mechanic tricks. He knocked his fist on his chest, activating his invisibility cloak, becoming invisible. He flash-stepped to Appollo, moving fast. He began slicing at him, moving from point to point as he did so, moving in a star pattern that was rotating clock-wise for a total of 20 slashes with momentum with his sealed zanpakto.
